Nice, nothing over the top. Open 24/7 which is convenient. We walked here from our hotel and were seated right away. It was crowded, Saturday morning during Christmas time had a lot of folks out. Portions were fine, server was okay- kinda felt like the east coast vibe where they're a bit gruff. Nothing really stood out to us though. We went there for the first time last night, a Tuesday night, and chose it because it was 24 hours. We arrived shortly after 9pm when it was nearly empty, but nearly every table was full. The four of us ordered steak quesadillas, chicken over rice with bell peppers, tomatoes, onions & jalapeños, nachos, and strawberry cheesecake. Let me preface my review by saying I have only gone here for breakfast since COVID. We used to come for lunch on occasion but since 2020 I haven't been in the office long enough to be around at lunch time The food is consistently good, not great but not bad at all. The fact that I can come in at 5:10am and get a full-service breakfast is fantastic in the post covid era when so many places seem to have forgotten about the customers needs or begrudgingly provide service. The service here depends heavily on who you get as your wait staff, 28 PATRICIA is lovely and attentive as long as she didn't get caught up in Spanish conversation by the takeout sign. This diner has been a staple in the community for years. In high school, this was the go-to place for a late night bite. I have fond memories of ordering the "one egg" breakfast platter and enjoying a satisfying meal on my student budget. I believe the restaurant has changed management once or twice, but it is still well run and welcoming. Most recently, I came for brunch on Christmas. I appreciated that they were open 24 hours, even on a holiday. On Christmas, it was busy but we were seated right away. The waitstaff were very friendly and attentive throughout the meal. To eat, I decided to try their huevos rancheros. Usually I go with their classic omelets and eggs, but I wanted to mix it up a bit. The portion size for this dish was huge. It came with a heaping side of home fries. Overall though, it wasn't my favorite meal. The salsa on top of the eggs was a bit sour. The eggs were served over easy and were super runny. The dish comes with refried beans, but I think whole beans would have served it better. And the home fries were mushy with very little flavor. On the positive side, my boyfriend had the pancake stack and enjoyed them. My dad had the farmer's omelet and said it was great. This omelet has all the meats and veggies you'd crave and I love that most of their breakfast platters come with home fries and toast so you end up having a very filling meal. Even though I usually stick to the breakfast options here, they have a huge menu with just about everything you'd want to eat. The service is pretty fast and the prices are fair. I dont have time to go in and sit down but I have had many deliveries since working from home. Creature of habit, I order the same thing for Dinner -- Pancakes! I have never received an inedible stack (some more or less cooked) they give me 5 syrups, yea back to the best in a long time and I'll get a hand baked muffin for the next morning. I saw this diner in passing and I decided to stop in because I didn't have time to stop by my diner in Harrison NY. They have great parking for patrons to park and I read a sign that stated that there is a parking attendant on duty. I felt safe. As I entered I saw that the restaurant was very attractive and clean and the ambience was casual but anyone can dress in business attire. The host was kind and prompt. I wish I could give this diner 0 stars. I've never seen such a distasteful atmosphere in my 21 years of existence. My friends and I came to this diner last night at around 12 am. The waiter literally came to our table a total of 3 times: to take our order, give us our food, and then give us our check. He never even came back to refill our small, measly glasses of water, and we were parched. We had a party of 5, but one person left after ordering his food because he did not feel well. Instead of taking the food back when we explained that he left, the waiter left the food at our table and kept the $18 sandwich on the bill. Really? Besides that fiasco, not everything was included in my dish that was advertised on the menu. I ordered an Italian panini, which was supposed to come with fries, a pickle, and coleslaw. When the dish arrived, there were no pickle and coleslaw, and yes, I actually do enjoy both items, that's why I ordered that dish. The waiter asked if we wanted pickles, didn't even mention the coleslaw, but I did ask for a pickle when he offered. He never came back. I wanted to ask again for a pickle, but the service was so slow and I just wanted to leave. For $17, everything should be brought out at once without even asking me if I want it, why is it included on the menu then? To top it off, an automatic 18% gratuity is insane, most places do it for parties of 6 or more. We only had 4-5 people. We literally had to raise our arms in the air to get someone's attention because we wanted the check, waiting around 15 minutes after we were completely finished for someone to come over. The place wasn't even busy. With the service we received, I wasn't going to tip 18%, only 15%, which is still generous considering the situation. There was a period of time I would say about 7 or 8 years ago where I would frequent diners on a weekly basis. While I have mostly cooled off, I do enjoy diner food every once in a while. While I had never heard great things about White Plains Coach Diner before, I always withheld judgement since I had not tried it myself. That changed the other day though, when one of my friends reached out to meet up for an impromptu breakfast. WPCD was a midpoint for both of us, so off I went. The exterior looks very inviting, it has the shiny chrome accents which really gives off that classic diner look. Interior is unremarkable, typical of most other diners I have been to - booths, tables, a bar up front with pastries behind a display case. The color scheme is mostly earth tones and everything looks like it's in good shape. When in diners, I usually play it safe and order breakfast, a sandwich or a burger; since it was the morning, breakfast was the natural choice. They had a large selection of omelettes so I went with the bacon and cheese one. It came with home fries and toast (I chose rye). When my food arrived, I noticed it was not what I ordered - instead of a bacon and cheese omelette, I got eggs over easy with a side of bacon. =( Honestly, I could have sent the food back but I didn't care enough to explain it to them. The dish was fine, but it was not what I ordered and hence didn't enjoy it as much as I could have. I know you're saying I should have just told them, but I didn't and that's that. The food is much better and the employees actually care about their jobs. I walked in shortly after midnight and sat at the counter. The place was virtually empty with the exception of 3 or 4 tables. I sat for over 7 minutes at the counter and was completely ignored. I wasn't even acknowledged and decided to walk away after 7+ minutes. I brought it up to the Manager (lol) with the Just for Men mustache and was met with further apathy. Save your money and avoid this place like the plague. The service is pretty good-to-excellent given the volume and diversity of clientele they deal with. The food is about what you'd expect--like all diners, breakfasts, fries, simple sandwiches, and deserts are your best bets. Typical weak coffee, and sometimes they struggle to keep up with cleaning after messy customers, particularly late evening and weekends after brunch. I regularly frequent this diner, about 1-2 times per week. They usually get my order wrong, i don't say anything and still tip 20% even on takeout orders because I never want to upset anyone, i know serving is a hard job and not an easy feat, which is why I am so willing to tip the hardworking staff. I ordered a sandwich with turkey lettuce avocado and bacon. there was no turkey and when i said this the man said "well the chef told me he put the turkey on". He goes the best i can do for the whole order is give you a few slices of turkey. My husband has been going to the Coach since before time. Or at least, my time and we've been together for a couple of decades at this point. Is anything mindblowing, food wise? No, not really. It's diner fare, after all, but the service is always solid, the food quality is reasonable and the menu is extensive. You could probably skip reading it and say, "Hey can I have XYZ" and they'd say "coming right up!"
