So after the horrible experience I had with the purchase process as mentioned in my initial review where I gave them 1 star and explained why, I had been avoiding them for service until about 8 months ago when I figured I've give them a try. I was pleasantly surprised with the great customer service I had in that visit. I just called to schedule the next service and to my surprise I was told since I have very low miles on my car I did not need to bring it in yet. The dash service due indicator light is set to go off on a timed interval so I can wait to hit the recommended mileage before bringing it in. Just bought a Mazdaspeed 3 there a few days back. I usually feel as though I have been ripped off after buying a car. I usually just have this nagging feeling that I somehow got screwed. This is the first time that I have felt really good driving off the lot. I test drove the car and I was very clear that I was waiting for the insurance check to come before I would purchase (I tootled my previous car). I didn't get any pressure to buy that day, I left the lot with a couple business cards and a handshake or two. In the next couple days, I received a crazy deal from another dealer and, while I wanted to go back to Star, I decided that I would drive out to the other dealer. I called Star back and they matched the price and, when I said that I couldn't get over there, they picked me up from work. ...They also beat my credit union's rate so I switched over to their financing. When my sister's car died she was pressed into the market immediately. As a "car guy" I went with her to develop her short list and help negotiate her purchase decision. We decided on the Mazda 3 (over the new Elantra and Civic). The people we met with were all very easy to deal with and professional. We initially made a "deal" for price and payment options with Norm (sales rep) and Paul (manager). Even after putting two different finance options down in writing they let us walk out and think about it - with ZERO pressure. Of course several other dealers we had met with (Mazda and otherwise) called and said they could beat the deal, but when pressed for details all sounded a little "fishy" and distrustful. Even when another Mazda dealer "promised" to beat our quoted price by a few hundred buck, dealing with Norm and Paul just "felt right". We went the next day. Unfortunately niether Norm or Paul were there - but we were assured that the price and deal would be honored . . . and low and behold - it was! Jim pinch-hit for Norm and was solid, friendly and professional. And Rueben the finace manager was about as nice and low pressure as it gets. A top-notch experience. I wasn't going to write a review about the horrible experience I had at Star Mazda but after being drug back into this situation again I feel I must. I'm so angry right now I can't see straight. I bought my 2016 Mazda 6 at Galpin in Van Nuys and I live in Koreatown. heading to Van Nuys for service wasn't very convenient so I thought I would try Star Mazda in Glendale. Much closer and convenient for me. My first couple services went fine, and some time in April I brought it in for warped brake rotors and the leather peeling on the driver seat cushion. I was told by Peter my service advisor that the seat part would need to be ordered, and warped brake rotors were not covered by mazda after 12k miles, my car had 13k miles. I was visibly upset that my 6 month old car needed brake work that I had to pay for. Peter told me that the dealer might take care of it as a courtesy. Roughly a month later I received a call from Peter saying the part for my seat was in, and the dealer would take care of my warped rotors. I brought the car in at 7am on May 20th to have the work done. After waiting a couple hours the dealer sent me home in a rental car. About an hour later I got a call from Roy Wells, the service manager saying there was an incident involving my car. It had rolled out of the wash machine and there was some damage on the rear of my car. I immediately drove to the dealer to inspect the damage which I have pictured in the review. Little did I know there was 5k dollars in damage! Roy was very polite and apologetic for the incident. I was furious that they had just wrecked the first new car I have bought since 1998! My BRAND NEW CAR! Anyway Roy Sent me home in the rental, and promised me they would fix the car. After a month and a half I finally got my car back. When I went to pick the car up, I found a door ding and scratch on the passenger side that the dealer had done while being careless with my car. They were able fix this with a buffer and some polish on the spot. I immediately found another scratch on the fender that required the fender to be repainted from someone being careless with a tool or something! My car went back to the body shop for another 2 weeks and I was back into the rental. After the scratch was repaired I picked up my car, and immediately realized they never fixed the brakes! After telling me they had taken care of everything! I was once again so mad. I have never been let down by a dealer in so many ways. At this point I didn't want them touching my car again, so I took it back to Galpin for the brakes and the service advisor at Galpin told me that Mazda covers warped rotors until the 36k mile bumper to bumper warranty is up, completely different from what Pete at Star told me! Galpin serviced my car and repaired the brakes, finishing the job Star was supposed to do. I have been taking my car to Galpin ever since. I wasn't going to write a review because I hate reliving this, and in the end Star took care of the damage. Now I am getting calls from Enterprise Rent A Car in Glendale saying that Star Mazda has not paid for the rental and I AM GOING TO BE BILLED FOR IT ON MY CREDIT CARD! it was a 900 dollar bill! This is ridiculous! You figure they would double check EVERYTHING related to my case considering the horrendous situation. Nope. They didn't. So now I have to go back to the dealer to baby sit them to make sure they pay for the rental so I do not get charged almost 1k dollars for something that was not only a huge inconvenience, but an absolute nightmare to deal with. The 2 stars are for the amazing receptionist that helped during my nightmare of a time here. But everyone else here gets zero stars. When I first leased my car in 2015, they lost my NY license plates that I needed to send back once I traded my old car in. LOST. GONE. WHAT?!?! The rude finance manager (Steven) told me I wouldn't be able to pay my car payments and my mom would end up paying for them. And to this day my mom hasn't paid a single car payment for me. Douchebag. The price for my routine maintenance was outrageous. It was so unorganized and the employees were being pulled in a million different directions. I had an appointment scheduled for 11a and was not helped until 11:27a. They offered the courtesy shuttle to me to take me to the Americana which I thought was nice until they said they couldn't get a hold of the driver. So I ubered and they reimbursed me. Then when I was getting a ride back the shuttle driver who spoke minimal English drove off on me TWICE. So I called an uber myself and told them they were reimbursing me. (This ordeal took 45 minutes) And then to top it off, when I got back, I was taken to the wrong car. (Which was unlocked) super safe! This place is a nightmare. Took my Mazda 3 in for some routine maintenance here, only because I wanted to get a quote on a broken seatbelt. Before even starting they quoted my maintenance alone at 1500! The quote included some of the most nonsense items like changing out the wipers at a cost of 150-200 dollars. I'm not a mechanic but it felt like the usual run around of a service department trying to charge a customer for everything they don't need. I'll never be coming back here again. read more
