I was hesitant to try this place because of the mixed reviews but glad I did. I ordered an egg roll, the chicken teriyaki appetizer and a pint of vegetable lo mein. It was a lot of food! Definitely two meals for one person. Everything was good. The egg roll was one of the better ones I've had in the area. The lo mein was fresh. Crisp veggies. Not a lot of flavor. The chicken teriyaki surprised me. It was deep fried so like a big chicken wing on a stick. It was all dark meat but actually pretty good. I ordered takeout. This is the best if you want chicken wings, they are light and nicely seasoned and their egg foo young all of them is delicious and their gravy will have you licking your fingers? I must have tried a dozen to a dozen and a half take out places and either the soup was brown or the food was mushy or there was no taste to it... Well you know the trials and tribulations of South Florida food and their claim to taste like that coming from New York. This one finally does! Gen Tso's ckn shud NOT be lightly dusted with flavor broth (remember when the rice stuck to the ckn?NOT with a little broth.) The RP w/mushrooms came as a soup. So everything is getting weighted by water at Star River. When u take their food back because they can't be reached by phone, they offer to pour more broth on ur ckn. no answer to why I'm walking out with cold food. Have you ever successfully nuked an egg roll and had it come out edible? They can't afford bags for t.o. so it was only a matter of time b4 they watered down everything. Called and they offered for me to bring back but I am at work and cannot. They did not offer to comp my next meal as they should have so they have lost a weekly customer. We ordered chicken lo mein, general tso's chicken, and steamed dumplings. To say that this was the absolute WORST Chinese food we have ever had is an understatement. The dumplings were cold, the pork fried rice was hard, stale, and flavorless, the generals chicken was a very small portion and was cold and flavorless, the lo mein was bland, even the egg rolls were flavorless. Im curious how you can screw up an egg roll?? Everything we ate tasted like old meat. We ended up throwing everything away after a few bites. Do yourself a favor and take your business elsewhere.
