I probably go to various Starbucks locations, 4-5 days out of any given week here in the Peninsula area. This Burlingame location on Broadway St. is the one of the worst Starbucks in the Bay Area as it employs a unprofessional staff and is inconsistent in making a good beverage. They never express a genuine Thank You with eye contact after you've placed your order, and are always talking amongst each other, almost to the point of clowning around, which contributes to the poor making of their drinks. If I see the blonde haired guy with glasses or the Asian girl behind the counter again as I did today, I'm walking out. They're absolutely unprofessional and should not be employed by Starbucks. read more

The worst service and overall Starbucks experience I've ever had anywhere. I waited 20 minutes for my order, the whole time at the barista counter, but staff completely ignored me and not once asked if they could help me. When I went to the cashier to ask for my order they said that it never went through, so I had to wait another 10 minutes. I took the bag and got in my car, only to find out they gave me the wrong order. Will NEVER go to this Starbucks again, horrible service, rude staff and waste of time. read more

This is one of the worst Starbucks cafes I've ever visited. I've complained to corporate about them twice with no response. I try to avoid them as much as possible even through they're only 2 blocks from my house. Every visit is a disappointment. 1. They're supposed to open at 5:00 am, but I've come in at 5:30 to pick up a mobile order and the ovens were still off and only one espresso machine was on. Needless to say my order was far from ready. Other times they were still closed. 2. They're disrespectful to customers. A customer had ordered an almond milk latte that the barista had mistakenly made with whole milk. The barista didn't apologize for the error and only begrudgingly remade the drink, suggesting the customer should compromise their dietary needs for her convenience. 3. I came to pick up a drink I had ordered 10 mins prior but it wasn't in the pickup area. When I was finally able to get someone to acknowledge me in the pick up area, rather than apologizing for the delay, the barista said he was "just making it" even though he had made several other drinks that came in after my order before it and my cup had clearly been waiting in the cold drinks area for awhile. As a former barista, I know what the Starbucks experience is supposed to feel like and this cafe misses the mark every time. My two friends and I just wanted some hot drinks, but the moment the barista handed in one of them, he didn't know which of us to give the drink to. His excuse was that we all looked the same and he couldn't tell which one is which. Still, it should've been very clear to him which drink belonged to since my other friend got hers already and I haven't made my order yet. Not from the area and after a long day (mostly being stuck in traffic) I was excited to see there was a Starbucks near my hotel. So I found parking on the opposite side and walked in. Pretty good size , lots of seating. I was surprised to see items such as bacon wrapped dates and meatballs?? Anyway I grabbed a fruit/cheese/cracker plate for a late snack at the hotel and ordered a coffee. The 2 guys behind the counter were busy getting some ladies pastries together so I waited at the cashier to pay until one of them helped me. I wasn't offered a bag for my cheese plate or utensils. I requested my latte to be extra hot, that didn't happen either. The girl making my drink just put my drink on the counter, didn't call my name (then why ask for it) nor did she say thank you or something along that line. Don't want my business? I have been coming to this Starbucks for years and while the staff has changed a lot, the service is always excellent. The staff is very nice and I always get my coffee in a timely manner. After the tank in the economy I only go about once a week (sometimes less) and the store manager, I believe her name is Amber, always remembers my drink. Although this is Starbucks, they run this store like a mom-n-pops shop with friendly service and consistent coffee, that is the only reason I am giving this chain 5 stars. This Starbucks used to be my favorite. However in the past year, there has been such a turnover, and especially in the past 6 months. It has gone wayyyyy downhill. Customer service is not what it used to be, (which was excellent) and the place is dirty now, most of the time, with garbage overflowing, bathrooms needing attention, etc. Everyone seems to be new, and they don't seem to know what they are doing. I prefer this Starbucks over the one on Burlingame ave. They have polar-opposite ambiances. This one is calm, mellow, and relaxed, while the one on the ave is hustle-and-bustle and hectic. This one is fast too. I don't really drink coffee at Starbucks anymore, but I've never had a complaint here. The service is really friendly and chilled out. Definitely easier to access in comparison to the ave's. If you just need a quick coffee fix while doing errands, go here. Avoid the one on the ave (unless you're shopping there of course), but any person in Burlingame knows that. read more

I come to this Starbucks almost every morning, I only get an iced coffee just black. For some reason more times than not I've gotten liquid sugar in my coffee, which sucks cause I don't like the taste of it at all I just want coffee. I didn't ask to change it because the Starbucks worker was arguing with a customer over something so I left to catch my train. Needless to say this experience could of been better even though I understand it was a stressful morning. I'll just make sure to go to a different coffee shop. read more

I was actually surprised with the laid-back fun demeanor this store has. I've never been a fan of Starbucks, but this place has had me coming back more and more often. First off, the drinks... As I understand it, there's quite a mix of new and old employees there, and from what I've seen, the ones with more experience take the time to teach the newer employees the ropes. I've even noticed one of the guys during their mid-day shift throw out random jokes to make the experience fun for everyone. Anyways, every drink I've had there always seems to put the ones from other Starbucks to shame. I can't say I've ever left with a bad drink, and the one time it was made incorrectly, they were more than happy to re-make it. The people? Their staff is brings class to their company's reputation, whle at the same time giving that sense of "down-to-earthiness" you'd expect from a local cafe. They have a confidence in their job, without coming off as arrogant. I have to admit that even at other nearby Starbucks branches, their staff often seems loud-mouthed. With this store, they're very much in sync with each other, and I've even seen their manager (I think) partake in jokes to help liven up busy moments- especially during the holidays. The thing that spurred me to review this store was a recent visit in which one of their employees was nice enough to explain the drink I was asking about, and even went as far as to add to the drink to match the taste I was looking for. I know they can do that at other stores, but he did it without any attitude- save for his much-welcomed sense of humor. read more
