It's been a while for me to walk into our Starbucks to place the order due to the convenience of the mobile app. It's also a bad thing because you don't get to see the crew there and yet no interaction. Last time I was here, it was really chaotic and the crew was not the same. Today, I'd say after at least 6yrs, I walk into this store and place my order because I have a question about the customization of my drink. I left a review 11yrs ago (I live in the area so this is always my Starbucks) and I see the crew I saw back then. Of course, not the exact same people, but the energy, the vibe, the enthusiasm for the custom service, and the gold standard that always make Starbucks different. I am sitting down here to enjoy my drink and can hear the hustle and bustle but not chaos. Every crew member works together and make sure all customers got the order. I hope to see this to stay because that's how I used to enjoy sitting in a Starbucks store. Keep up the good work. You definitely got a long lost customer back.

I'll give them a generous 4 star cause I have no idea what the local standards are. Points for seating, which seems to have disappeared in most San Francisco stores because they fear their residents. I don't know what it is about Starbucks, but I've never been in one that didn't have a large footprint & badly designed layout. This store has I nice patio with 3 tables in front, off the sidewalk. Inside you walk through the vast empty space except for the weird water bottle display you have to walk around. Maybe it's an interior design feature. There are 3 tables on each wall, and large arty photographs. At the very back is the order counter. The cashier was super friendly, big smile, seemed to be sincere & not on uppers. Maybe highly caffeinated. I'm assuming everyone was a local, only 1 woman staring at her laptop, everyone else was loudly socializing. Loud because the music was even louder. I ordered a Passion Fruit iced tea sans sugar. $3.75. $2 tip. Then a Cheese & Fruit Box. Unlike some Starbucks, the cheese was fresh, the apple wasn't brown, & the grapes weren't sour. Well, Burlingame. By 12:30 on a Monday all the chairs were taken as the store morphs in to Laptop Village. I'm hanging out here while my car gets detailed, there's only one other cafe open. And there's nothing else open at 11am. These 3 blocks are suburban boring as hell.

I ordered the Osmanthus Matcha Latte (cold) with no modifications. However modifications included dairy or non dairy options, toppings, ice level, extra matcha and sweetness level with 50% as the minimum. The matcha was lightly sweeten and smooth. The osmanthus bits in the bottom was delightful. The osmanthus was lightly sweetened, slightly citrusy and floral. The drink was well balanced between the two flavors. Definitely would recommend a visit.

There was no line at all, so my drink came out really quickly. Service was efficient, and basically non existent since you order on your phone, and pick it up from the counter. They have some seats indoors and a few benches outside, it's pretty spare and basic inside which is all you really need in a cafe. I saw a lot of people getting takeout, and some small groups around tables chatting. I was debating between the matcha and houjicha, then got intrigued by the black sesame, and finally after much internal debate, decided that black sesame + houjicha would work best together and wanted the einspanner. They honestly have so many intriguing options like Earl grey matcha einspanner??? Banana pudding?? I have to come back. My only complaint is the price but I guess everything is expensive these days. $8/9 for one of these drinks hurt my heart though. On the flavors: while I wish there was more black sesame (I always do), this was one of the most satisfyingly black sesame items I've had from a cafe. It went really well with the toasty roasty notes from the houjicha and I think they added enough of both amidst the milk to make it a very satisfying drink. This can be rare because a lot of places drown out all the flavors with too much milk. The best part though, was the einspanner - the sweetened whipped cream on top really brought the whole drink together and was so delicious. It made it just that little bit more decadent. I got it at minimal sweetness and at first though it wasn't enough, but I was glad I did as I worked my way through the cup, it was perfect.

Maison Alyzée is a French fine pastry bakery café located on downtown Burlingame's main strip. Dedicated to providing customers with a Parisian escape through handcrafted elegant pastries and artisanal breads, the bake shoppe doubles as pâtisserie and boulangerie, priding itself on meticulous attention to detail. Upon entry, we were welcomed by a brightly lit and very clean venue. Ray and I were immediately drawn to the beautiful marble-topped white counter that encased a gorgeous variety of exquisite treats. The commitment to the elegance of French culture and modern creativity were evident in every luxurious pastry and cake on display. Maison Alyzée is an order-at-the-counter establishment, so we made our purchase with a friendly staff member at the register. Unfortunately, we were told that espresso drinks were no longer available that night since the staff had already begun cleaning the machines. Ok....I never understand businesses that start shutting down things before closing time. This just shows customers that team convenience of closing shop quickly takes precedence over customer experience, essentially omitting availability of items from the menu while they are still open. For this reason, I am docking a star. Luckily, they still had some cold brew available, so I ordered a Lavender Cold Brew with oat milk. Heads-up: Plant-based milks like almond and oat milk incur a $0.75 surcharge. I wish that the lavender was more like a simple syrup, so that the flavour was sweeter and less sharp. Maison Alyzée also offers a selection of breakfast, lunch, and brunch options. I definitely need to return to try one or two or a few of their ostentatious delights.
