I am an avid Starbucks coffee drinker. I think their product is good and it is always consistent so you can be guaranteed of that. I want to talk about the staff at this Starbucks and how kind they are. Maybe it's indicative of the city, I don't know. We are from Orange County CA and we travel through Buttonwillow on a regular basis when we are going to and from my kid's colleges. We have been stopping at this Starbucks on and off since 2016 ish. We love to stop here because CONSISTENTLY, the staff is so kind and helpful. They are happy you stopped there and I finally decided to write and say how much their kindness is appreciated. We are tired, we have usually been driving a lot and for a Starbucks, over a period of 5 years, to be so consistent in their customer service....well, I thought that is something that should be mentioned. After riding that Jamba Juice Oatmeal for a Buck coupon to death in SF, I was jonesing for oatmeal before the full day practice at Buttonwillow where I will be covered in dust, grease and testosterone. Lovely. Vaguely I remembered that Starbucks had oatmeal too and I looked forward to this all morning as we gathered our stuff in the motel room and headed out. I ordered and felt smallish butterflies do happy dances. Then, while I waited for Rob's triple venti wet cappucino, I peeked inside the cardboard container. Instantly, all the small beautiful butterflies of hope, optimism and youth were gunned down with an automatic assault rifle with hollow point bullets (the kind that are also filled to the brim with powder). Ka-POW. The oatmeal was instant. The little old lady behind the counter dumped the powdery instant crap in to the cardboard container, filled it will the same hot water as they use for tea, put the lid on and served it with a smile. No wonder they can afford to give away pre-packaged individual servings of nuts, fruit and brown sugar crumble, the oatmeal itself was actually the unused and recycled boxes leftover from delivering coffee. Yes, they shredded it and ground it all to crap in their coffee bean grinder, added water and then charged as much for it as a fully loaded vietnamese sandwich. It was like someone shot my kitty. I've been disenchanted. It upset me so much, I had to go to the ampm and get a jumbo hot dog for breakfast to distract my fragile, warped, shattered mind. And that was not the last hot dog required to distract me from the harsh, true reality that was the starbucks oatmeal. I'm still cowering in the corner, see? Cower. Cower. Where's my Jamba Juice coupon? there's still time before class.... Oh yeah, the coffee was caffeinated. Big surprise. It came in a big cup. And i added nonfat milk. Cashiers are friendly in this small I-5 stop, which to the out-of-towner seems to be the main attraction. Minus 1 star for the wait. ok, so first up, I am not a fan of Starbucks. I find the coffee bitter and overpriced. That is not why this Starbucks received a low score. This Starbucks was the only place around I knew I could get a Latte and a light breakfast in the little town of Buttonwillow, CA. This store received a low score because, 1. Major confusion by the people taking orders as to a simple request like a Latte with an extra shot of espresso. I had to explain that 3 times. 2. When I order something that needs to be warmed up, give me a time for how long. 3. They only put one item to warn in the ovens at a time, so it literally took 25 minutes for my son to get a warmed egg sandwich. 4. Not identifying whose sandwich was for each customer. We watched as the sandwich for my son was given to someone else, and we were told, "They are at the drive through so they get it first". 5. Manager coming out and making excuses about slow ovens and new personnel. I am a customer, I don't really care about your difficulties. Just tell me how long I have to wait. I have worked in several restaurants and breakfast diners in my life, I have also worked a lot of retail and customer service jobs. One of the many things I learned in those jobs is my work issues are not my customers problem. And if I do have problems I should let the customer know up front if there will be a delay, most people will understand if they know up front. So, the low score is for the really poor customer service at this location. read more

I'm normally cool with Starbucks, they have a specific recipe that gets me the drink of my choice, for the same price, everywhere. That makes me happy. But, for the road-weary, I'm not a super fan of this particular location. In this case, the bathroom was problematic. Typically, Starbucks at every other location I've been to, provide a PRIVATE toilet experience. This one doesn't. The bathroom has a stall and urinal(s?). Anyway, I ordered my drink and proceeded into the bathroom all happy and was greeted by the stench of a thousand dead men. I held my breath until I nearly passed out. I'm not complaining about the smell and I'm more writing this for myself so that the next time I'm traveling the 5, I opt for the restroom at the Gas Station right down the way instead. read more

I'm a Starbucks regular and am always loading up my mobile app with funds for the convenience. This review is for the drive thru, as I pray quality of the beverage served inside is higher. I get the whole drive-thru and the need for expediency. We purchased vanilla latte's. I ordered, pulled around to the window, and the beverage was ready. About 45 seconds. Although I loved the fast service, my latte was terrible. Not sure what was up, but the coffee tasted as if it had been sitting around for while. I can only think that they had generic espresso shots sitting around and they just added hot milk. Definitely didn't taste fresh. Starbucks Manager: Don't ever sacrifice quality for speed. read more

A diary of Starbuck's. Returning from Disneyland, we found the Subway. After visiting Disneyland, you only have money for Subway. After finishing several helpings of caffeinated soda, the wife wanted hot tea. We walked in joining a quiet, polite crowd of tourists. Everyone was tired, weary, looking for a dream elsewhere than Buttonwillow. Before I can make to the counter, my daughter helped herself to a carton of milk. Ding! She pointed at the cakes displayed under warm lights behind the glass. Ding-ding. And service was actually super fast, like I was at mickey d's or something. It's a Starbucks off the I-5, with a drive-thru. The only thing that was a little turn-off was the unkept area surrounding the building, as well as the parking lot conditions (a few potholes had to be avoided). The few times I have been here the wait has been a little excessive, and I noticed the two cars in front of me in the drive thru pulling into the parking lot and returning drinks (hmmm). I'll return and hopefully have a little better experience. I will say that the service was good and the barista was very nice and apologized for the long wait. read more

Mobile ordered, and received wrong cup size. Original was grande on receipt and they gave me a tall. Asked them to redo to a grande, and the customer service was horrible. I ended up waiting 15 minutes before I had to ask about my order which they had forgotten about, and had already attended various people in the store. Very unlikely to make this my go to stop on road trips. So unfortunate, customer service needs retraining. read more

There were 3 people working at this starbucks in the middle of the day on a wednesday. 2 of them seemed to be teenagers with no regard for customer service. I literally stood in front of them for 2 whole minutes without them even noticing that I was there. Seriously? They seemed perplexed by some issue on the cash register. Buttonwillow is pretty much a regular stop to and from L.A. when it comes to fueling up; both gasoline and coffee. We've never been inside this particular Starbucks, but the drive-through is always quick and easy with pleasant greetings all around. They do have patio seating, but if you have ever been through Buttonwillow, you know the air in town isn't always the freshest - being a truck stop for the most part. Ha! We have yet to see anyone sitting outside here enjoying the outdoor setting. Regardless, we have always had a good experience here, and we will continue to make our regular pilgrimage while passing through. 3 stars! read more
