Does Starbucks really need a review? YES. Sure they have your standard fare, but it's a bit better than your average Joe! Start with location. Located in Calabasas, close to wonderful rolling hills as well as the ocean, makes this Starbucks a perfect place to stop and fuel up before or at the end of your journey. It is spacious, well laid out, and even when somewhat crowded, it doesn't feel that way. Great places to sit, sip, and study or people watch. Friendly staff, efficient service, and absolutely clean interior makes this a "must stop" whenever we are in the area. Do yourself a favor, stop here and enjoy a cup of coffee, tea, or a yummy food item and you will be thankful that you did. read more

So overall, this is a good Starbucks! The partners there are attentive and for the most part, very friendly. The only thing I would say is that they do things that don't make a lot of sense. For example, if they are out of a pastry, they'll leave two "not good" pastries in the case anyway to "make the case look nice" but won't mind disappointing customers all day by saying "oh we are out of that, and we can't sell you the ones in the case." Another thing that doesn't make sense to me is how they can say no to a customer about a simple thing. I had waited for 15 mins for my pumpkin cream cold foam cold brew, and I knew they were busy, so I wasn't mad about waiting. When I received it, and only got like a splash of the foam, I asked the barista, "Could I possibly have some more foam?" What the barista said STUNNED me. She said, "Sorry that's for another order." UM..beverage routine is supposed to be working on two drinks at a time...a latte was being made while my cold foam was being made. That's two drinks. It takes 20 seconds for the foam to be ready. It just showed that the barista was lazy and didn't want to create a moment with a customer. Used to be my favorite and now it's just awful. This used to be the best Starbucks ever but now that they've hired the new girls it's not worth it anymore. I live on Lost hills and place a mobile order a few times a week before leaving for work, and I'm usually there before it's ready. The service here is always great even when super busy. The lines can be really long but they do what they can to empty out the place as quickly as possible. The drinks are made really well. I have only a handful of times had to go back to ask them to fix my drink. I definitely come here often to work on the web as I don't have the web at home. They don't bother you and it's just very relaxing to just sit here and work. The only thing that would make this place better is if they provided music for those who stay here. read more

8 am. It's prime time. People are standing there waiting for their food and drinks all in a hurry. The employees hoard all the food and drinks behind the plastic cover and DONT CALL OUT NAMES AT ALL even though they tell you they will. It's up to the customer to figure out if their stuff is ready or not. There was a man whose drink was ready and standing there for a solid 5 minutes before they remembered that they have job duties and called his name. I mean cmon it doesn't take that much to just say someone's name after you make their drink instead of just putting it aside and waiting for someone to come read it off in 10 minutes. No wonder there's always a line of people waiting for their stuff there. I'm not a big fan of Starbucks and their coffee but if you want a clean bathroom on a road trip, Starbucks is the place to go and you can find one just about anywhere and that was my mission the first time I visited this Starbucks a month ago and once again, this time around because it's conveniently located off the 101 freeway. This particular Starbucks is tucked away in the Lost Hills and the first time around I got a warm fuzzy feeling. It draws in a great local crowd that provides for several laughs and it resembles Cheers in many ways. The baristas are familiar with drink orders and preferences and there's a long wait. I've never waited this long for coffee and I couldn't just dash out and use the restroom without buying something. Somehow you just feel obligated so I settled for a Vanilla Latte and boy was I impressed! It didn't taste like burnt coffee! It was the best Vanilla Latte at a Starbucks I had ever tasted! I figured it must have been a fluke. This time around I settled for the Espresso Chocolate Truffle based on a suggestion from a friend. It's their signature hot chocolate with two shots of Espresso but somehow I want to picture it as 2 shots of Espresso with a truffle slowly melting in a cup but not so much. And wow! Another great drink! Am I becoming a Starbucks fan? I dare not think it. Maybe just a fan of this location. I almost started humming the Cheers tune. I had to stop myself. The baristas here have no problem making you wait and the locals gladly order and grab a seat chatting away with the other locals. And boy are those drinks worth the wait. I would only suggest going early in the morning though. I stopped by on my way home back from my road trip expecting the same thing and I got plenty of the warm fuzzies and local fan fare but my drink was mediocre at best. Meh, every starbucks is the same to be honest with you. But there's something about this Starbucks in the Commons that makes it cozier than the others. The barristas are hit or miss. Some spend way too much time chatting amongst themselves to care about you or your order (which is annoying)... but every now and then you find a gem. There's a really cute guy who works there. I don't know his name but he definitely makes my visits special, and he seems to get to know a lot of the regulars there. Though... it;s rather embarrassing that he witnesses my caffeine addiction first hand. I think I've seen him 3-4x in the span of 5 days. Dammit, don't judge me! The regulars are funny, too. If you go regularly enough (sadly, that's me lately. Starbucks steals from my wallet.), you'll see the same group of businessmen and women sitting in the shop with their laptops, chatting away on their cell phones. They're nice enough. It's just funny to see that Starbucks has become their office :) Otherwise... the store is usually stocked. They never mess up my order. The bathroom is decently clean. And yeah, in response to one of the reviews below, the baristas here don't sugar-coat how bad Starbucks drinks are for you. Haha. One guy was telling me about what they put in their mochas, and let's just say I'm sticking with skinny vanilla lattes from now on. I love this place. I practically live here. I've come a few times on my way home from work in the morning around 9am. It's ok. Nice like people say. I just went this last Friday morning. I did mobile order and when I walked in it was there waiting for me. That was nice. I just grabbed it and walked out but then I happened to open the lid and I noticed they didn't fill my cup to the top. Doesn't even look like they put in the whip cream. Nobody at this store knows how to follow drink order instructions written right on the cup. They are too busy scmoozing with cops to pay attention to the drink order in front of them. 3 times this week I went into this location and ordered a no foam, extra hot Chai latte. And, 3 times I had to have them remake my drink because nobody there seems to understand "extra hot". WORST STARBUCKS I HAVE EVER BEEN TO! I came down from Anaheim to Calabasas for an event. I had enough time to spare and I decided to make a quick stop at Starbucks for a drink before I head into an event that was right around the corner from this location. I placed a mobile order at 5:38pm. I went in to wait for my order by the mobile order pick up location. My sister had placed a mobile order as well around the exact same time as me. She received her order within ten mins or less. It was 5:55pm and I still not had received my drink or even started on my drink. I asked them to just cancel my drink and refund me back. The gentleman that assisted me was rude and told me that the reason I had no reciecied my drink yet is because "there were a lot of drinks." Yet, every person that walked in after me to place an in store order received theirs before me. They didn't have enough time to make my drink but had enough time to process my refund. My "quick" stop turned into a big waste of time. I didn't get my drink and I was late to an event that I drove and hour for. read more

I came here for coffee and a bite and saw a huge dirty dog sprawled out in the middle of the coffee shop. Literally no one was seated in any of the tables around it. I asked Zack, the manager, what his store policy was about non-service dogs and he said "dogs are okay as long as they behave." I have dogs . I love dogs, but not when I'm I'm wearing business clothes and eating. I come here a lot because it's convenient for team meetings but I will find somewhere else. If their management can't kindly ask dog owners to be on the patio they wont retain my business. Zack needs to learn his role as a food and beverage manager or find a job at a Pet store. read more

Spacious Starbucks with plenty of parking. Friendly staff and quick service. There are several outlets along the walls and fast charging pads are available on the bench tables. Two restrooms- one for each gender. Outdoor seating is a nice way to soak in some sun. There's even a bit of a few of the rolling canyons beyond. No drive thru but not necessary since I have yet to encounter a line that is unreasonable. read more

I'm only giving it three stars because one time I politely and kindly asked a barista if she could put less heavy cream in the black coffee I ordered. She said to do it myself and slammed the gallon of it at the end of the bar. It felt really unpleasant. Today I experienced another situation where I ordered "Venti chai tea." She rang me up for a latte and had to refund my money for the latte. She said I need to say "tea bag" because they assume latte. I thought it was a little rude because if I wanted a latte I'd say latte. For the most part the people who work here are amazing and the service is great. I have had my favourite Blonde on the Clover several times at quite a few other locations, and quite frankly, I wasn't sure what I was supposed to be noticing, but I went along with the flow and asked for a Blonde on the Clover here and there when a fresh pot of Blonde roast was out for the day. On Sunday the 1st of June however, my experience was different. Firstly, this is by far the most immaculate Starbucks bar I have ever walked into, and they even serve small plates & wine! What a delight! I ordered my Blonde on the Clover and there was quite of a wait with several other drinks that were ahead of me. I was getting slightly agitated because my drink was the only one on the Clover, and I could not figure out why it was taking longer than usual, but my barista, Manu (I think I chopped his name) made me THE BEST BLONDE CLOVER I have ever had. I couldn't believe that I actually could taste a significant difference! It tasted so creamy yet buttery, I could not believe how flavourful a Clover-made Blonde was. He asked me if I had a Clover, which I don't, but I want to invest in one now...this Blonde is by far the best I've had. One of the better Starbucks I have visited. Beautiful modern store that has an open layout and a nice communal table in the middle (which can be reserved fyi). They are also a Starbucks Evenings location which means they serve wine, beer and small plates after 4:00 p.m. (I heard the Truffle Mac-n-Cheese was amazing). This location also has the Clover brewing system (used by Intelligenista and LA Mill)...these babies cost $11,000! I haven't tried a cup of coffee made from the Clover, but I am definitely interested in checking it out and comparing to a cup of regular brew. The only con about this store is the long lines at all times of the day! It is a very popular location. The baristas are nice and work quickly. read more

The stars definitely aren't for the coffee...let's be truthful: Starbucks isn't the creme de la creme of caffeinated beverages. I've bequeathed this five star rating because of the exceptional service of the evening employees. Regardless of how long lines are, how rude customers can be, and whatever other excuses they could have, they are always positive, humorous, and conversational. Truly representative of what Starbucks wants their stores to look like. Not too sure about the morning staff as I generally go in the evenings. The store manager, Lauren, is great so I imagine her employees would be of the same caliber as the evening staff. I do remember that the lines were always a bit overwhelming, but go surprisingly fast. Ambiance is fine. Parking couldn't be easier. Plenty of outlets thanks to long communal tables. Tip: for a tasty treat, the truffle macaroni and cheese is sure to satiate your epicurean palette far better than a box of Kraft will. read more

Not a big fan of this location. The line gets long because they seem to take longer than most Starbucks. Last time I came in there were only two people in front of me. It still took me over 5 minutes to get to the register. They only had one register open, one person making drinks, 3 people staring at the other register and another 2 people walking around aimlessly behind the counter. I couldn't understand why there were so many employees and only two were actually helping people. I was bringing drinks to an office of mine, 3 lattes and one regular coffee. I had to ask for the coffee three times before they gave it to me. (Once when I ordered, once when I got the other lattes, and then again after the barista said she would go grab it and then got distracted.) It's not the end of the world, but I think if this place tightened up their game they could get things out much quicker and be less annoying. This is my go to Starbucks. I love how they always have someone greet the customers in line and come take your order to cut down on wait time during busy hours. They make a mean caramel frappacino at this location and always add extra caramel to the point of perfection! This store has been upgraded and boasts a wine bar with appetizers at night and a nice selection of wines. Taking a drive from Hollywood into Malibu, I jumped off the 101 to take Malibu Canyon Road. Saw this Starbucks and pulled over. There is a large parking lot that it shares with the other stores at this shopping center. The women behind the counter was so nice and friendly and helpful. I got my fancy seasonal drink - Praline something - and sat outside. That's when I saw the signs that they are offering appetizers and wine for "Happy Hour". I told some of my friends, and we all agree we have to go back to this Starbucks ASAP so we can say we have been there, and not to drink coffee, but to drink wine. The coffee was good, so I can't wait to try the wine. read more

Our first visit, they ruined my friends Pumpkin Spice Latte, and from what I ordered, it was completely different! I didn't want to nag so I snatched the drinks and left. Before heading home, we gave it a second shot, my friend ordered the most cliche and easiest drink known to Starbucks. The Caramel Frap, the drink tasted good, but the barista forgot to add caramel on top. The only thing different from one starbucks to the next is not the design or the coffee, not even the employees, they all go through the same training to become Seattle worker ants, it's the local community that supports that starbucks that makes it unique from another... This one is pretty funny. I obviously don't live in calabasas, but where I do live the crowd is different at starbucks, for one, there is no crowd. Usually a decent Starbucks experience here. One particular employee MARINA had already got a "rude" strike from me when she walked right in front of me(very close) as I was standing in line by the food display and didn't say excuse me and she walked right in front of the other man in front of me and he too took a step back cause she was rudely close and had no common courtesy. She then took my order and as soon as I began to verbalize my order "grande black coffee with room on top a..." she interrupted my order and began to lecture me on how to order black coffee. She said I shouldn't ask for a black coffee with room cause that's not black coffee. She continued, keep in mind there was a very long line behind me.."when you order black coffee and want room don't say black coffee cause black coffee means no room".. I then told her I always say black coffee with room on top and it's never an issue. Quickly as expected she snapped back and said I am not lecturing you, sorry you felt like that (she didn't mean it). This demeanor and lecture session at a Starbucks is not what I like to wake up to first thing in the am. Lastly, as a business owner it is not cost effective to have someone with this kind of demeanor (superiority complex). Because I wasn't done with my order before she began her ordering lecture she made the mistake of handing me a hot coffee and not a cold brewed like I wanted.
