Ah yes, my NO WHIP Mocha Frappuccino -- a bold concept, I know. Apparently too bold for this café. Despite "NO WHIP" being clearly printed on the order label, I was served a drink proudly crowned with a generous mountain of whipped cream. I assume the label is more of a suggestion than an instruction? Or maybe it's decorative. Who's to say. This wasn't a complex, high-maintenance order. I didn't ask for oat milk foam infused with moonlight. I asked for the absence of whipped cream. Somehow, that proved impossible. This store is so poorly managed; they don't even clean up the cups left on the chairs outside, and they don't clean up spilled coffee on the floor. Customers are leaving angry because of the mess. The manager seems to be completely neglecting their duties. A customer complained to an employee about how dirty it was, but the employee only wiped the table and didn't even bother to look at the mess on the floor. They even glared at the complaining customer. Who would want to go to such a dirty Starbucks? read more

I walked into the store with my daughter and politely asked for a small cup of water so she could take her medicine. The woman behind the counter just stared at us and said, "No, you have to buy something first." I explained again that my daughter just needed a little water for her medicine, but she ignored us and looked around. When I asked for her name, she walked away and brought over another employee who came with a rude attitude. She wouldn't even look at us, and they both made a big scene over a simple request for water for a child. Customers around us were visibly uncomfortable and shocked by how unprofessional and heartless they were. There is both indoor and covered outdoor seating and one bathroom. The parking on the street is metered. While coming to the Farmer's Market, I've always wanted to try this Starbucks location. I made it a special point to visit yesterday and try out the store, which from the outside seems pretty nice. The store itself has the same vibe as the average Starbucks, but seems smaller than the average; I'm not sure whether the tables and counter made it feel that way. The store was not really packed, but orders were just not happening. My unheated bagel took about 15 minutes to make, and they made a mistake by heating it. I thought I'd be out within 5 minutes. Been going here longer than I can even remember. Staff is obviously different than 10 years ago but it's still my #1 Starbucks for consistency. Feels nice to see familiar faces every night or morning, whenever it is that I come in, but they are always so helpful and willing to put effort and love into your drink. They always have a shortage of cups and run out of the food items quick so beware. I feel like any bad experience I have there is always with a customer being a bit of a bother but never the staff. Expect a long line during rush. And say hi to Jen! She's such a kind soul and makes the best drinks. Outside there's sometimes spiders in the corners so watch where you sit. Bathroom is super clean. I've been to this Starbucks location a couple of times and I've had a good experience each time. The staff is friendly, the drinks are made quickly, and the lines are never too long (even if there is a line, it moves quickly enough). The interior isn't particularly large or special, although its generally clean and there are several tables and bar stools where you may enjoy your coffee. They do have a few outdoor seats as well, which are nice if it's sunny outside! Overall, this is a good Starbucks located right on Honolulu Avenue. Food is good like normal, very consistent in every store I have been to. I can't have their whipped cream because of some ingredients that doe sit well with me. I mobile irdered and put "No whip" on my drink. They gave me whip anyway and I asked them to take it off because I can't have it. The gurl looked all confused but asked her coworke to take it off. He proceeded to use a spoon to scoop it off and there was still a bunch of residual whip left on. I was so furious at this point that I just left. Customer service could be so much better. read more

This Starbucks is relatively clean, albeit a little crowded usually. The customer service is nice and quick and their drinks are always top tier, in true Starbucks fashion! The interior of the store is a bit on the smaller side but they are very organized. There are a few tables around the store and their indoor seating is now open. You know the saying: what a difference a day makes, yes? Well this Starbucks which is a couple of long blocks from its La Canada neighbor brings to mind: what a difference a few blocks makes. Well today i decided to check out this unit which is in Montrose village proper on the corner of Honolulu and Ocean. But: what a difference a few blocks makes! First of all, with 6 people working behind the counter attending to one chore or another and with no waiting customers i had to wait an inordinate amount of time before anyone acknowledged me with any greeting at all. Not good. I mean, how about I'll be right with you or some such greeting. I did get that eventually and my order was taken. and since there were no other customers in line i did receive my order very quickly. That's a positive. This wait puts a bad taste in my mouth and a general feeling of "Huh??" Looking around the physical plant i note that though this unit looks clean, it is in need of a remodel badly. The surfaces look scuffed as do the floors and the whole vibe of the interior gives off the whiff of the 1990's. I am going to assume because of the location of this unit being in the heart of the Montrose village that they are situated that they have a lot of business all day long. So with this comes the use and abuse of the floors, tables, chairs, etc. This place needs to be renovated. There is quite a few tables inside and several outside. Parking is tight when the Village is busy though there is a lot behind the building. The people working here today were friendly enough though the dude taking my order didn't quite "get" what a Foam topping of milk meant. The actual Cold Brew with foam and the accompanying Bagel i ordered were produced spot on. This doesn't seem to be the issue here. Rapid service and acknowledgment of customers presence is. Absolutely horrible experience with Jennifer who is apparently the supervisor. My friends and I were waiting in line and there was a gentleman in front of us ordering. He then got out of line and we thought it was our turn since we did not see Jennifer on the other side. Apparently, she was in line first and when my friend and I walked to the front of the line she yelled at me and said "THERES A LINE!!! YOURE SUPPOSED TO GO AROUND!!!" And jumped in front of my friend and I to order. Also gave horrible attitude and a stank face. Not to mention there was no one else in line. First of all, what supervisor yells at customers?? Rude. Second of all, if you're the supervisor why are you even waiting in line? Just order the drink yourself. It was then our time to order and I asked the employee ringing us up what her deal was he replied, "she's having a long day" lol. I then asked for him for her name and what her position there was. I have never been yelled at by an employee before yet alone a supervisor. If you want to deal with a rude employee that seems like she hates her job stop by here to get yelled at. The holiday happy hour does put a lot of pressure on the baristas. I don't think that most locations have the capacity to accommodate their customers. Starbucks, as a corporation, needs to make sure that when they run promotions, they are staffed appropriately. Staff that can restock, check restrooms, empty trash and recycling inside and outside, wipe tables, greet customers, refill condiments. Here is a light hearted, comical rendition of my trip. I could tell Christine was a little stressed today. My heart goes out to her.I ordered a fancy drink and one for my husband who is vegan so it had almond milk. I just get a regular fancy drink. Anyway, I have a 6 month old baby. It took a long time (I get it, everyone is there - it's the time and place to be). But now the baby is fussy. Guess what, no changing station in the bathroom. So I'm waiting...Waiting...waiting My thinking ahead was how am I going to carry two drinks with a stroller; can't put them in the cup holders on the stroller, that's a no no! So I ask for a tray. It's a brand new Starbucks in the space formerly occupied by Color Me Mine on the southeast corner of Ocean View Blvd. & Honolulu Ave.. There is plenty of seating inside and a few tables outside. They have free wi-fi. Just purchase a drink and no password is required. Parking is metered on the street or in the lot in back with no meters. This is by far my favorite Starbucks in the area, I'm closer to a few others, but you can't beat the service. I'm impressed that baristas like Rebecca & Mason can remember both my face (with a mask on) & my order. & they're always so happy to see me & even other guests. It's that attention to detail & commitment to service & joy in service that makes this particular Starbucks worth returning to.
