I'm sorry to say, my five star rating of this Starbucks plummeted yesterday. I ordered a Chai Latte with Coconut Milk, no foam, no water. It tasted like the coconut milk was diluted. They replaced it. I took a sip and it tasted like cows milk. I was concerned being severely allergic. They assured me it was coconut milk. Before arriving at my appointment felt my allergic reaction, nausea. I missed my appointment and returned the chai on my way home. The person at the counter said he thought he saw them using coconut milk. No apologies for my discomfort and disrupted day. No refund offered. I was not well enough to dispute. I'll be picking up m chai at another Starbucks, it's not worth the health risk and disrespect from this location. To bad it's so convenient. read more

Considering how busy they are during the daytime at this drive-thru location, I love how upbeat and happy these workers are when I stop by everytime to order right before midnight! The workers are super patient, genuinely friendly, and make satisfying drinks. I don't even care about the long wait during the day, hence, an update to a 5 star for this review. On many occasions, I'd crave their coffee drinks, whether it's to keep me up to do my schoolwork, or a small treat after work. I absolutely love the fact that they're open until midnight, since not a lot of coffee places would be open by that time. When I came around 11:30pm, there were no line of cars ordering, so I took my time deciding on what drinks to order. The workers would tell me to "take my time" and let them know when I'm ready to order... So nice :') keep in mind... They often run out of a few things by the end of the night, like the acai berry refreshers. I ended up ordering 2 drinks for myself since I couldn't decide - mocha frappuccino and passion tea lemonade with Thai walls (condensed milk). And let me tell you, they really give your money's worth by adding enough Thai walls to your liking! I ended up saving my mocha frappuccino for the next day (since I was going to work until 3am that next day) by putting it in my freezer, and "defrosting" it an hour before I wanted to drink it. The mocha frappe AND the whipped cream were still intact, as if it was just made to order. I was completely amazed. While pulling up to the window to pay and retrieve my drinks, the workers were having a lot of fun being pumped up and dancing to Katy Perry's "Firework" while making the drinks. Kahala vs. Waipio, it's on like Donkey Kong! I'm having somewhat of an identity crisis here because both my home town and my new town have my favorite drive thru Starbuckses in the state. Yes, I said 'Starbuckses' because how else do you pluralize that word? Starbuckss with an extra 's'? I digress. The convenience of a drive thru Starbucks comes from the fact that people drive reasonable sized cars here. The intercom is loud and clear, and there was minimal delay between orders. I got through a 5-6 car line in less than one song on my playlist. On the flip side, Waipio Starbucks always has a long line and it takes a while to order even when you're at the intercom. So long as Kahala can keep this pace, I am confident it will reign supreme as the most convenient Starbucks on island. Remember people, don't be like that 79-year old lady who burnt her hoo-ha by leaving the drive thru carrying coffee between her legs. The only reason I went here is because during my college club's game night they gave everyone a free Starbucks gift card. I don't ever go here. I also don't like coffee. But you know what? Free is free and I had to use it before a certain day and time is money and money is time - so alas I decided to show up. As I waited in line I had no clue what the hell I was ordering. The big ass picture on the sign featured a salted caramel Frappuccino so I just ordered that. Then it came to sizing - what the F is a Grande? The first thing that came to mind was Ariana Grande. Anyway the drink was ACtually pretty good considering coffee usually disgusts me. Service was great but this drink is definitely not something I'd go out and order every day because of all the calories... Ordered an Americana today online, only requested for a splash of half and half. When I went to pick it up, it was cold, I even ordered it outside, in the parking lot of this establishment. This is dangerously easy for me. I will be even broke-r than I already am thanks to this new drive-thru!!! I love the Kahala Starbucks team. The new drive through team here seems to be following suit! Service has been good so far! I arrived at 11:55pm right before closing (I know, I know... Every closer's worst nightmare)... and they were still nice and graciously made my drink for me, with a smile. The place looks very clean and organized. It is well lit, and so far, the service again has been very good. My drink was made right, which I always appreciate, and it tasted just like it should. It seems like there may be a walk up window on the other side, but I'm not sure sure yet. I love that Kahala now has a drive-through Starbucks. I work in Kapolei and am thoroughly spoiled by the drive through on Kamokila Blvd. With parking as difficult as it is at Kahala Mall (and the inside Starbucks always has long lines), the drive-through is great! Don't be discouraged if you drive up and see a few cars in the queue. For one, there's easy parking and a walk-up window on the other side of the drive-through which helps if the wait is too long. However, the drive-through is surprisingly fast. I drove by once and the line was about 8 cars long. By the time I got back about 10 minutes later, there was no wait at all. Those people inside that little building are fast!! Starbucks gets -1 star for running out of peppermint over the holidays. You cannot run out of peppermint when one of the best drinks is the Peppermint Mocha Latte!! In Kahala's defense, Kapolei also ran out the week before Kahala did. Why am I being overcharged at this location? Don't tell me it's a convenience fee. Cuz theres nothing convenient about losing money. When we got up to the window they told us they didn't have the topping (isn't that what makes it a chestnut praline drink?) after they gave us the drink and made no adjustment to the price. I think this may be a first Yelp review I've ever made. I hate yelping period but I have to say this is the worse Starbucks on the island. They are clearly overloaded. There's a drive thru and a walk up window ordering and for mobile orders. All the customers are always standing out here confused on who ordered or where's the line and so on. Dear Starbucks, My sandwich looks sloppy. 8/9$ mush. I couldn't believe the state of the inside of this sandwich when I opened it. Stop. Presentation? The line for the drive-thru was super long as Usual so decided to go to the walk up window where the woman at the counter DID NOT greet us nicely, in fact she did quite the opposite. She seemed very annoyed and short with us. I didn't catch her name but I remember she had dark hair which was up in a pint tail and was Asian and wearing glasses. I ALWAYS leave tips whenever I get food or bereaved cus I know what it's like to work In the food and beverage industry but she was so obviously being rude that I left her no tip cus she. Did not deserve one. Also, it took forever to get our coffees even tho there was only one person in front of us so my point being, go to the location inside the mall!! Worst Starbucks ever. Ordered a simple Venti Iced coffee (nothing added/special) because I know they usually take forever and their drinks are never consistent anyways. I ordered ahead and per the "app" estimated prep time showed 3-6 minutes. I get there in time only to wait even longer. I happen to be a very patient person... until 30 minutes passed and they still couldn't pour black coffee over some ice. Seriously?! I took a peek through their window and all you see are 6 employees crammed in that tiny booth of a Starbucks, bumping shoulders with every step. No wonder they can't get anything done in there! I have visited many Starbucks locations including New York, California, and majority of Starbucks on the island of Oahu, and this, Kahala Mall Exterior - Kilauea Avenue Starbucks, is by far my favorite. It's the exceptional customer service that we we receive "every" visit. Every staff member at Kahala Mall Exterior - Kilauea Avenue Starbucks has greeted us with excellent hospitality that makes us want to come back for more. Yes, the drinks are what we look forward to as well, but it all ties down to our experience we get every visit by the friendly staff. Although all the staff at Kahala Mall Exterior - Kilauea Avenue Starbucks are excellent, there is one staff that really stands out from the crowd and her name is Jamie. Jamie has gone above and beyond to make our every visit a special one. Her friendliness and welcoming makes us feel like we are family and that Starbucks is our second home. An example of her excellent customer service is how she cares to know the correct spelling of my name and even takes the time to know my other half's name so every time we come back, she greets the both of us by our name. She is always attentive to our needs such as greeting us immediately and offers us samples of new food items especially during times if she noticed our drinks are taking a little longer. There were times where it was getting busy and she had the ability to multi-task, keep her professionalism and composure, and treat us like we are the only customers there, while still giving her 110 percent attention to other customers. I've reviewed a couple of Starbucks here and there. So you can say I've been places. All Starbucks are all the same, right? WRONG! EXCEPT WHEN IT'S AN AMAZING DRIVE THRU! I came here on a Saturday morning where I thought it would take your average amount of time to get a coffee from Starbucks, but during this time there was only another car in front of me. I ordered what I always order during the holiday season (Caramel Brûlée Latte, iced of course). Then waited for a minute for the car in front of me to get his caffeine fix and I roll up to the window, pay, and BAM, there's my drink nice and cold and all delicious and stuff. So I'm waiting and waiting, then I see a girl employee come but went to the oven, her back is facing me, and then she went right to the back of the store. Updated review+++ this Starbucks is getting popular. Not only do they have a drive thru but they also have a window where customers can walk up and place orders. Here's the bad part. I don't think the owners realized just how busy this new pop up would be. From the customers point of view, there seems to be a lot of employees working at this small box but the consistency and speed of service is lacking. I frequent this location but rarely use the drive thru. I normally always park and order from the walk up window. Never fails that I wait 5 + minutes for my iced coffee. Once I walk up to the window I make eye contact with all the workers inside yet they still take their time to open the window and take my order. It's as if they focus only on the drive thru. Please fix this Starbucks. Please add workers to focus on drive thru orders and add more workers to focus on walk up orders. Starbucks finally got a drive through window in east Oahu! Kind of cute and weird that it's not remotely connected to the other Starbucks on the property. Still, it's a great way to have this service in east Oahu for anyone who lives and plays in the area. The other known Starbucks with a drive through window in Hawaii that I know of is in Kaneohe, but like a McDonalds, it's connected to the main restaurant. In Starbucks Kahala's case, it's more of a satellite location that functions as its own, catering to those who love the drive through option. I noticed this Starbucks kiosk earlier in the year 2016 but hadn't given it much thought until I had a craving for a frappuchino one evening after work and didn't want to walk to the Starbucks in Kahala mall. I was actually finishing up a run through the Kahala area and figured that u deserved a treat after a nice run. This Starbucks kiosk was the perfect location, considering that I didn't have to walk through the mall to get to the other main Starbucks in Kahala - pretty much next to the Whole Foods. Like many other Starbucks in Hawaii and the nation, it's true to form here and you get the Starbucks experience. While there's no air condition or seating area to speak of, you're usually waiting for about 5 minutes, depending on how long the car line is at any given day. This Starbucks satellite location is conveniently located on the corner of awesome and happy. Lol I mean Waialae Avenue and Kilauea Avenue. It's coincidently along the annual Honolulu marathon route nearer to mile 11 (and mile 22, if you walk a block from the gas station) on Kilauea Avenue. They always do accept credit cards, which is always a good thing, as well as cash. Best bet if you are running the marathon, carry cash with you if you decide on making a pit stop here during the race. Heheh. For any other day of the year, it's ideal to come here in your vehicle or walk up to grab your frappuchino or any other Starbucks drink at your leisure. There aren't any seating areas here to enjoy your coffee or whatever you are drinking, but there is seating inside the mall. This kiosk is more for the vehicular traffic that comes through east Oahu on a daily basis from Hawaii Kai. It's the Starbucks that's in between Kapahulu and Hawaii Kai, if I am not mistaken, on your way into and out of town. For those of y'all who drive, there's ample parking next to this Starbucks at the Kahala Mall, although you'd probably want to just drive through this place instead of parking. Hah. For those of you know the public transit like me, bus routes 1, 1L, 14, 24, and 22 come through the area and stops near the Kahala Mall shopping complex. Much like many Starbucks around Hawaii, the prices are consistent in what is served. Higher of course than that of the mainland, but we live Hawaii, so there's no escaping that. We enjoy our Starbucks and that's what matters most. While this Starbucks doesn't seem to have wifi enabled, I could be wrong, but I didn't find any reliable signal here. Without no seating to enjoy your Starbucks drink you've purchase, there's no really the right way to rate this Starbucks satellite store, other than that of a fast food counter - regardless of how you get here. The service here is always right and fast, although waiting for your morning frappuchino here at 6am in the morning is quite interesting when your half asleep, but I digress... The overall experience here is as good as I usually take it. Most of the time, I walk up here and order. Very rarely I would be hanging with friends and drive up and order. To each their own though. I do love the fact at how fast they prepare drinks, although it can take up to 5 minutes, depending on what you do order. 4.5 stars for sure. This is a drive through location with a walk up window with no seating or public bathroom. Unlike other Starbucks I've gone to, if you're ordering a drip coffee, your order will get into the cue with all of the other espresso drink orders. For the days where I'm freezing, in need of a warm drink and too lazy to get my butt out of my car and in line, I'll drag my sister along with me to the Starbucks Drive-Thru. I am still waiting for the day where a drive thru will be added in town but until that day comes, the closest drive thru is at Kahala mall. They are located in the parking area just outside of Macys and the workers there are just great! I usually get the urge for something warm to drink late at night and thank goodness they are open till midnight. I've never been to the drive thru during the day so I can't say how fast or slow it is during peak hours. Want to go late at night? No problem. The longest line I've been in so far was three cars in front of me and even then it was in and out within several minutes. Service is always great! I figure that most people are in bed by ten at night during the week and being that they are open until midnight every day...I have to give credit to the workers who still manage to be up and perky for those last few hours until they can go home. Maybe they're good and pretending to be perky or just naturally are.. Who cares?!! The workers are so friendly and on top of it. My order is always repeated which I really appreciate. I've never encountered a rude worker here - where at other Starbucks there's always a grouchy one who won't smile and just isn't having it. It could get crazy busy where the line could wrap up around the parking lot to the entrance of Macy's. I went this morning at 8am and about a dozen cars were lined up. I know in the morning this is normal because I'm mostly here between 7am - 8am. I don't think they don't lack speed of service because even when the line is long it could move pretty quickly. I've only gone to the walk up window once and it did spare me just a couple minutes. Once my boyfriend and I were heading home at around 11:45pm (they close at midnight) and wanted to stop by. We needed something to keep us up since we had late night studying to do and made it just in time right before they close. I believe most people get cranky over last minute customers but the guy who took our order and gave us our drinks was so nice, and as we drove away he told us to enjoy the rest of our evening. Another time in the afternoon our drinks were on the house because they thought we had waited too long even though I didn't think so. I truly appreciate the good service here and I feel they go the extra mile to have a customer drive away happy. My drinks are always delicious, never bitter. Yelp 365 Challenge 2015 #7/365 It's about time Honolulu got it's own Starbucks Drive-Thru! I'm originally from the Big Island, and I remember when the first Starbucks Drive-Thru opened up in Hilo... had to wait almost half an hour in the drive-thru line =/ Turned off the car, opened the doors and everything! Luckily, that was many years ago, and my experience at this location was nothing like that! Rachel and I pulled up to the drive-thru for the first time, and the barista taking orders spoke clear, perfect English. I've never heard a drive-thru speaker so clear! I was really impressed by that. Rachel ordered a Caramel Brulee Frappuccino, and I ordered a Peppermint Mocha Frappuccino (this was when they still had those holiday drinks obviously). It was pleasantly served quickly! I don't know if it was just because it was a drive-thru, but it felt like they made those drinks faster than going into a regular Starbucks and ordering at the counter. So excited about this! Though they've only just opened today, I'm pretty impressed. The location is so convenient, and the service was fast and friendly! More importantly, the wait time for drinks was noticeably shorter than if in a normal Starbucks cafe. Though not quite as efficient as drive-thru Starbucks locations on the mainland, I am definitely more than happy to frequent this Starbucks! read more

Once again, as I have with other drive-thru establishments, I must give 5 stars to this Starbucks because of those infamous 2 words: DRIVE-THRU. People, it's all about convenience. The convenience that you don't have to get out of your car because of your kids in the back, because you are tired, because while waiting in line you can put on make-up, because you have a surfboard in the back of your truck..... whatever it is, a drive thru is just plain convenient. I frequent this location about 2 times a week before work at the wee hours of the morning. I have never experienced a bad time here. The wait times are reasonable for a drive thru. The workers are pleasant. The drinks are good. And once again, its just so convenient. There's also a little counter where you can order by walking up and placing your order if that floats your boat. There's usually zero to one or two people in line when I pass by. I will definitely be coming here often because of is closeness to my house and the plain fact that its a drive-thru :) read more
