It's Starbucks. You can't say TOO much more. But this location deserves Kudos as being fast and kind. It is a busy spot, in the heart of Tourist Malibu. The barristas work quickly and accurately. They were polite and efficient. We got in at a good time as the line stretched quite a bit behind us, but we watched as the staff handled it in stride. The only suggestion is that a few more staff members to walk around the small space and patio to clean up behind the slobs who don't throw out their own trash might be an asset to create a faster turnover of tables. read more

Especially since it's the same drinks we order from every other Starbucks. What a waste to be honest. Staff is so accommodating to me and my time. If I'm in a hurry, my drinks are out fast and prompt but when I eat and I'm studying, I'm free to take my time and asked if I want another drink or pastry. There is a barista there, Dylan who makes drinks from the gods. His credit card swiping ability is next to none and his knowledge of the menu is so good it's almost stupid. He is so good at his job, I almost want to quit my job and learn from him and I'm a successful lawyer. He makes me forget there is no bathroom in this store cause his service is so perfect, the waste seems to be sucked straight out of my body. Please give this dude a raise, a promotion, or anything cause if he isn't promoted within the next week, I will personally boycott this Starbucks and I come here every morning. read more

Great location - service is usually top notch everywhere else, but unless you are a celebrity - you may get charged extra, given a week old pastry, or your order might get dropped - it's always a crap shoot - I've been over-charged twice here. I've had my order dropped 3 times, I've had "more important" people's orders taken out of turn when they were behind me. This is the real "Dumb Starbucks," unfortunately. It was just an awkward experience all around. To start, there was a very short man trying to get everyone's orders ready from behind the pastry case. He couldn't see over it and neither could I, so his attempts to get my order were confusing. I finally was able to convey that I wanted a grande black iced tea lemonade, when someone in charge reprimanded the man for not working the till. The two of them snapped at each other a bit and the atmosphere got even weirder. I paid for my drink, waited, and was given a black iced tea. When I corrected the barista, she said, "Well it says black iced tea." Totally possible that the short dude got my order wrong, but the way she said it made it sound like I was trying to scam her to get lemonade. Putting on my biggest smile, I thanked her generously for making me a new one, and I was met with stoney silence. I walked out feeling really grumpy. it's been a few weeks since i was in this starbucks, but the memory is strong enough that i felt like i still needed to say something. i was with a group of 6 people that had just been on a walk on zuma beach--awesome. we had a dog with us on the walk and the dog needed some water, (poor puppy) So, we asked for a cup of water for the pooch and were told no. Don't usually write reviews on chain places like Starbucks BUT this location has got to be the best/ friendliest service I have ever received. (east and west coast) The employees are SO nice, the lady at the front asked us if we wanted waters before we even asked free of charge. After waiting 18 minutes from time in line to hearing my name called to pick up, I was informed by the barista that they were out of the sandwich I had ordered. It was the new bacon cheddar egg that I wanted. She asked me if I would like a different sandwich. I told her no. It's a Starbucks, the one Robert Downey Jr. plugs in the first Iron Man. Has a nice new design and is set in an ideal location. For a place like Malibu that lacks a quality coffee shop with a good atmosphere it is the best you can get. The Starbucks off Trancas, 5mi or so up from this location, offers a similar atmosphere, with the best seating being around the shop itself looking up at the Santa Monica mountains. read more

This Starbucks is my favorite because it's very close to my house. It can get very busy during the weekends or tourist season, which is a bummer. However, the massive table allows for multiple people to squeeze in, which is a bonus. The staff is always extremely nice and some of them go above and beyond in terms of friendliness. Kristen is very bubbly and has a great personality. She even has offered to refill my water when she sees that I am studying there for a prolonged period of time. I've come here about 5 times, as I work nearby, and 3 out of the 5 I have had my order lost. The barista is always very nice, but somehow she misplaces my order almost every time (there wasn't even a huge line each time it's happened). First time, "okay", second time, "okayyyyy", third time, "really?" Unfortunately, I won't be coming back as it has made me late to work, waiting around to discover the drink I'd already paid for had been lost in the mix, leaving me to wait even longer.
