The sweetness of the white chocolate blended so smoothly with the espresso, creating a creamy and rich flavor without being overwhelming. I truly can't say enough what a pleasure it is coming into this Starbucks at 286 1st Ave. NY, NY. They just do everything perfectly. They treat you with such kindness, and absolutely never vibe you that you have been there too long. This last part is really important to me because I really want to have the freedom of mind to simply stay and do my work without any other thoughts other than whatever I am doing. I think I read on the Starbucks website and they want you to feel exactly that way: at home and relaxed. So, it's actually their policy. A policy I deeply appreciate and that they accomplish so well here at 286 1st Ave Starbucks. BTW: They also make your drink or prepare your food exactly to your specifications. For example, at this Starbucks they give you a "half pump" sized pump. It even says it right on the cup "(i.e. 2 & 1/2 pumps). That's pretty specific, and pretty awesome. I'm always impressed with that! I do wish that the app allowed for 1/2 pumps (i.e. 2 and 1/2 pumps) but that's an issue with the app. The ambiance and vibe is always a pleasure as well; nice and warm in the winter and really cool and refreshing with air conditioning in the during summer. At last, their bathroom is always clean, which also is SUPER important to me. So that's it. You should come to the Starbucks at 286 1st. Ave. NYC. BTW (btw): There are many other nice Starbucks that I have been too as well but this one's a stand out for me and Yelp only allows want me to do one location at a time. No prob. Five stars bc these baristas HUSTLE! Sure I have to wait a bit sometimes around 8am, but it can get super busy from serving Mt. Sinai, Stuy Town, all of the schools nearby, and whoever else passes by. It's a pretty standard wait time. They greet whoever enters or exits, and I wouldn't mind if they didn't b/c it's NYC but I was pleasantly surprised. Only area for improvement = replenishing the post-its for the pinboard where there is a sign to leave a note of thanks. Like many Starbucks in the city, this place is built to accommodate online orders before in-person customers, which makes the whole experience really frustrating. I'm here to lay down some hard earned green backs for an overpriced sugar H-bomb! Take my money so I can ignite a diabetic furnace and begin my walk of shame! Been frustrated multiple times walking in and patiently taking my place in line (sometimes at the front), only to be ignored by the staff for seemingly an eternity before they make their way to the counter and take my order (which goes at the end of a long line of order-aheads). This Starbucks is conveniently located close to my Drs office at Beth Israel. Service is quick, efficient and friendly. I just wish they had some for here mugs. So I was on a mission to become a GOLD MEMBER (Austin Powers style) so I've been going a bit nuts with Starbucks lately. Nonetheless I ordered my same old beverage, an iced chai latte - a simple drink of tea concentrate and milk. You wouldn't believe the foolishness I've seen in some locations just waiting to order or for my drink to come out. However at this location I had no hassle. I was actually stressed for time but I was able to order, get my drink and run out to get my kid in no time. The cashier was a cashier, took my order nothing to fall in love with and the Barista at the bar that day to me was the man because like I said I didn't have to wait. I got my drink less than a minute after I ordered and I wasn't even the first one in line. I do commend the cashier for stepping up though, he wasn't originally on the register but there was a lady in front on me that didn't know what she wanted and had too many questions so he slid over and started taking my order. The store was clean, there was ample amount of seating - the store actually fit the neighborhood, quiet and laid back. I enjoyed my visit though it was short and I really liked the mugs selection they had displayed on the back wall before you hit the register. read more

In need of a pick me upper def go for the matcha lemonade I literally got a matcha lemonade at about 4 pm and it's now 12:35 pm and I'm still wired lol. Not only will it do the job, it has so many better benefits vs coffee which I'm not a huge fan of. Point blank simple I love Starbucks for the tea if that makes sense. I would suggest almost all the teas and lattes. I would stay away from the espresso. For people who know me, I'm a very unlikely candidate to give a conglomerate business like Starbucks a 5 star review. Typically, when I walk into Starbucks it's filled with baristas that seem to dislike their jobs and don't care much about coffee. However, BILL who works the cashier most times I walk in is such a gem! Seriously love him. Always SO friendly, helpful, patient. He took time to kindly explain to everyone in line yesterday that if they bring their receipt back before the 25th they'll get a breakfasts sandwich for $2.50-- and he did it in a way to genuinely be helpful and save customers some cash. It's so refreshing to find someone that takes such pride in their work. In fact, almost everyone that works at this location is wonderful! If I owned a coffee shop, I'd want to hire Bill! read more

The service here is OK, the staff get the job done but certainly aren't greeting you with a smile while taking your order. At least they got my drink right even though they didn't seem so enthusiastic about doing it. The space is big and there are a couple of tables for people to sit and work at. There is also a bar along the window so you can watch people go to work at the hospital or go to the subway/bus. Location is great since so many people live close. One morning, I decided that coffee was a requirement (as was grabbing a box of the instant Via coffee for the following day.) While waiting in a line, one of the employees kindly took my order. He was friendly and polite. I walked up to the counter to a man who seemed to have some issues handling a high volume of orders. All that I had ordered was a grande coffee. That's it. He hands me a coffee, shouts, "next," and I move on. Walking to the coffee station, I open the lid to my coffee for a little milk action. Foam. That isn't mine . . . So upon walking back to the counter, explaining politely (I'm from California. We are the friendliest people that you will ever meet) that I think I may have the wrong drink. The employee making the drinks says, "That is because you TOOK BILL'S CAPPUCCINO OFF OF THE COUNTER." He hands me a coffee, and proceeds to tell Bill how rude it was that some people don't pay attention to what name is called. Wait, what? YOU HANDED IT TO ME! Nooooo need for rudeness. The customer is always right, dude. And when I am right, don't go pinning your sloppy work on me. Will not be back. read more

Even though I've only started going here this week (I've lived around the corner for 3 months), it's a pretty decent Starbucks! The three times I went in this week there was no line and the staff was surprisingly very friendly, which you don't always get in a Starbucks. There's a small amount of seating, mainly a bunch of communal tables, but because it's small it has a cozy environment. I would suggest this place for somewhere to go when trying to get some work done. I asked someone to open the bathroom for me and they told me to go wait by the door but then forgot about me, about 5 minutes later someone finally came so I was annoyed but she kept saying she was sorry and was actually friendly so it made it a little better. read more

I truly believe that this is one of the worst Starbucks on earth. It is so disorganized that they consistently lose my order even though I always get just a coffee or tea. Typically there are more people behind the counter than there are in line and it still takes upwards of 15 minutes to get a drink. I'm a Seattleite so I am a avid Starbucks drinker but what the hell happened to the Starbucks in New York??? This location in particular was probably one of the worst I've encountered yet.. I'm not going to lie my order was more complicated than anyone else in line but still you're a barista for god sakes it is your job to make coffee! The line was ridiculous, I had to repeat my order FOUR times (that is three times too many!) and my coffee was made incorrectly and taste disgusting! How do you forget the classic syrup in a carmal mocchiato? It's part of the drink! The ironic part was I asked for an extra pump of classic and didn't get any! Just like any other Starbucks, they have coffee. Which is never bad. This location is clean, baristas are kind and friendly, and the milk/sugar station is always up to par. My only issue,which isn't even the location's fault (just being a whiny New Yorker) is that the lines are always long. Just get there before the early morning rush and you'll be good. read more

This is a nice, larger location with table and stool seating. Usually seats are pretty filled but I haven't had an issue finding a seat the few times I've needed one. There's usually a line of 3-5 people so a wait is to be expected. Like the remodeled look which gave the store some new energy. The more recent staff has been pretty friendly from the cashiers to the baristas and I've seen the same faces regularly, which is nice. Helps in wanting to come back to the store when people are friendly. Food and drinks are pretty much the same across locations so not too much to say about that. read more

I have been to this Starbucks on 16th St and 1st Ave more then a few times and I never had a less then 4 star experience and I bet it's cause the folks who work here care about doing the right thing with customers . The pastries , sweets , food , beverages are fresh and well made and place is always clean and finding a seat while I steal some WiFi is no problem . I don't know the gal workers name who looks latina but the lady makes a mean decaff Cappy and the lemon frosted pound cake is my fave when ordering sweets . Not a bad Starbucks. They definitely seem a little disorganized though. I ordered a short drink and the girl charged me for a tall and kept insisting she hadn't made a mistake. I suspect she was new. Took me a good 30 seconds for me to tell her how to ring it up properly. She was very polite about it though. She marked my cup right and I grabbed a seat at the counter which overlooks the bar. Despite the properly marked cup, the barista used the wrong kind of milk and the wrong amount of syrup. And this was in the late morning. Absolutely no line. No excuse for that. These things aren't too big a deal for me so I didn't have him remake it. I've sorta come to expect my experience at Starbucks to be a crap shoot. It WAS a bit busy since it was morning and everyone was in to get their caffeine. But I noticed she made a couple drinks wrong for people in front of me so we had to wait for them to get redone.
