I saw a review earlier complaining about people just being there working/reading/on their laptops. Is that Starbucks' fault? You're really going to ding them in stars for that? Sheesh. Anyway, I do like this place since there's great parking in front of the Pavilions grocery. And yes, seating is quite limited during busy hours, but that's a given at most sit-in Starbucks. The staff is also very friendly- the place isn't exactly the most super organized, I mean, it's clean and not messy but I always see the manager in the process of coming up with new ways to organize things, putting things up, changing merchandise out, etc., which is a great thing to see. On a funny side note, as of the date of this review, Starbucks is currently facing a multi-million dollar lawsuit because of the amount of ice they put in drinks- I kept this in mind as I ordered my iced drink and tried to see if there was any difference; no difference yet lol. read more

I like this Starbucks because it's so convenient to me while food shopping, or coming back from shopping along Lake Avenue. The employees here are nice and somewhat friendly, and it's always filled with interesting people from Caltech; I feel part of the "Big Bang" television show just by being here! The lines are quite long though, and the service is a little slower than others, but that is to be expected, as the students are rather complex and order their drinks like no other Starbucks could. Being a gold card member, you just stay here all day and use their Wi-Fi for homework, or just cruise, but do order something, as this place needs to make a profit to stay around... read more

I like the way this Starbucks appears from the outside when viewing it's look on the corner of Lake/California. Nice place for studying, maybe meeting someone to go over some documents, or just to be alone doing your own thing. They have the re-charge docks for your cell phone on the large table in the center of the room (love these things!) If only I were still in school... these would have came in handy if I needed to charge my phone but didn't have my cord with me. Okay, these can STILL help me if I were in dire need of more battery power on my phone -- very nifty. Parking lot is shared w/ the other small businesses next-door and Pavillions supermarket. This is just to update and reiterate that this is my favorite Starbucks (of course, if I had to pick a Starbucks to begin with). The atmosphere here is extremely conducive to working or studying. There is not a lot of chit chat as in other Starbucks locations in Pasadena (mainly the one in Old Town Pasadena). Staff is very friendly and really get to know the regulars. A lot of comfortable tables and chairs for your laptop and other work. There is also a very large table in the middle that seats about 6-8 people - perfect for any large study groups. If I'm looking for places to get work done outside of my home office in my apartment, I can always get work done here (as well as at the Pasadena Public Library - see separate review). read more

What I love about starbucks is the consistency I can come to the Starbucks and get the same service and taste at another Starbucks 30 miles away. The staff is generally always friendly fast and efficient.They have definitely branded themselves. I also was very please when they changed the logo. Having a logo with no name and just a picture definitely shows that they have made it. The only thing I don't like is the price. Imagine when I am on my way to this location of Starbucks, I come to the door to only find it is "Temporarily closed". Ummm...no! I LOVE THIS STARBUCKS! The baristas help me with depression. I have battled this for years, and when I come in, the baristas give me brass service and treat me like a rock star. In fact, they do it with ALL of their customers. I am really trying to find words of how worried I think my day will go, knowing they are not there. Btw, the food is always cooked awesomely, the drinks are spectacular and the store is immaculate - clean to the expectations of those who are OCD with cleanliness. Why oh why? PLEASE OPEN SOON! This location is my favorite in Pasadena. The people are always so kind and on top of it. Given covid especially, sometimes things go out of stock and they have to check for different substitutions, but regardless they don't mind. Also as a trans person, to be able to say my real name rather than the one on my ID is nice at any Starbucks. But here they all go out of their way to use it, which is appreciated! I love it here! The workers always treat me nicely! There's a really cute barista who I always get nervous to talk to but he's always sweet about it. They proudly wear lgbtq+ flags which I appreciate. I have great conversations with the workers about music and books etc. I've also never had to take my drink back. It's always been made perfectly. It's a nice sized Starbucks so there are enough seats to just sit and work. The only sad thing is that pumpkin spice lattes are really popular at this location in the fall so they're often out of pumpkin spice. It's all about timing your arrival if you want one though. Been here twice this week and both times the coffee was extremely watered down. I went in today 06/06/2020 and purchased a tall pike which was absolutely the worst coffee I've had in my life and, that's no exaggeration. It was 90% water and the rest coffee if you can call it that. Unfortunately, I was already a few miles away before I noticed it so I couldn't come back to get another one. I went to Starbucks to get a cup of coffee on break. Whilst departing, one of me grad assistants gave me a coupon for a buy-one-get-one free, for a Grande Latte. I didn't realise Starbucks even had coupons, I've never used them before. However, after this experience today, I reckon I'll definitely be looking more vigilantly for more. So the plan was to get one for myself, and the other for me grad assistant. So I walked into the Starbucks and handed the girl behind the counter the coupon for buy-one-get-one free, seemed pretty sraightforward, one would assume. So the girl gazed over and pointed at the chalkboard behind, which stated, "buy-one-get-one free" for today. She looked at me wiv a smile on her face and said, "They're already buy-one-get-one free today, so I guess they're both free" "Well of course", I said :) I then proceeded to ask, I still get to keep my coupon, right. "Yes, I think so." She handed me my two "free" lattes, and I walked out the door wiv coupon in hand, no money spent, and obviously, one confused server. Five stars for an excellent five (5) gallon cambro of coffee which stayed piping hot for over 8 hours after I picked it up for the 2011 Walk to End Epilepsy at the Rose Bowl Stadium nearby in October of 2011. She's so sweet and always has a smile on her face even when its 7:30 in the morning. lol (And she always remembers my order )They're fast, organized, and on top of everything.
