Well they finally remodeled this Starbucks. It always needed it. Unfortunately it's just a place to order now. No tables or chairs inside. First Starucks I have seen like this. This WAS a neighborhood gathering spot and a nice place to escape the office or the heat to work remotely for a bit. It is now a 'get your coffee and get out' spot with NO indoor seating. The patio outside feels strange because of the shaded ceiling. Kind of a cooped up feeling. After growing up in the neighborhood for the past 50 years, sad to see this no longer be a welcoming place to spend time with others, to read, or get a little work done. The employee I spoke to said everyone hates it, but the staff like it because more storage space in the back for stuff. Sitting on their patio writing this and it's HOT outside. Corporate greed BLOWS. Feels like a middle-finger to the neighborhood. read more

It's a pretty rude gesture for Starbucks to remodel their store and take out all the indoor seating. Way to be a good neighbor Starbucks. They should have a sign that says "take your coffee and go." I wish Starbucks would leave Kensington so a local coffee shop could move in. Agree with the other reviews about the remodel. It went from a neighborhood cafe to an "airport Starbucks" with zero memorable ambiance. And even the little room inside is awkwardly arranged so it's everyone has to reshuffle everytime someone comes in. There is seating outdoors, but very little sun shade, so you're always struggling to avoid sun glare. Also there is no trash/recycling outdoors, so you have to fight your way back inside to throw anything away. read more

This place is full of flies. I had 3 drown themselves in my brand new Frappuccino. Flies all over the baked goods. I went in twice. 2 workers and one customers and was completely ignored and not acknowledged by either worker. Going to contact HQ to complain I'm so annoyed. This business opened across the street from Kensington Cafe a once wonderful friendly non corporate neighbourhood coffee and cake cafe which was and forced to change its business model. Starbucks opened in Kensington posing as a coffee shop tearoom come sit yourself down in our venue ! Ha ha hả once it got its grips on the neighbourhood like it's ugly fellow brothers and sisters it changed its style to more of a kiosk vending machine airport style cheapo kiosk just say goodbye to the public sitting inside the shop . Lisa and Tanya are amazing! i never write reviews but the vibrant energy exuberated by lisa made my morning and tanya is just so equally sweet: there is also an older gentleman who works here who always has the biggest smile on his face too and is so hard working. lisa was climbing ladders dusting off shelves in between making some great recommendations that made customers brighten up. i appreciate you guys being here and really think this upcoming generation could take a lot away from simply observing their customer service and work ethic. read more

This is a good Starbucks. I stopped by here, after eating at the Burger Lounge next door, to pick up a grande iced green tea and a morning bun. When I inquired about their gloominess, the two girls behind the counter made it clear that they would rather be somewhere else other than work given it was such a nice day it was outside. You know, typically, I couldn't foresee myself giving Starbucks more than a 3 star rating... just based on the fact that they're the Wal Mart of coffee. They treat their employees just fine, but their thoughts on world domination freak me out a tad. There are two coffee shops in Kensington... and they just so happen to be right across the street from each other. One is Starbucks, and the other is an indie coffee shop that always seems to have a different name. 99 times out of 100, I'd support mom and pop... but not in this instance. That place across the street toes the border of "eh" and "fuck no." I say that because the employees there suck, frankly. They have the demeanor of someone about to get a root canal, and it hardly creates a welcoming environment. I could actually see myself hanging at this Starbucks, funny enough. It's got a REALLY comfortable environment with comfy chairs, couches and tables inside, as well as a nice scene on the patio. Covered by trees, umbrellas and patio chairs with cushions... I could easily slip into a euphoric, coffee-enduced zone and pound away on my keyboard for hours on end. Plus, the employees are terrific. Professional, and very friendly. I know I wrote a review of the other joint... and in that review, I stated that I wouldn't patronize the 'Bucks across the way in an attempt to support the "little guy," but I gotta draw the line somewhere. Bring the coffee snob that I am, refuse to drink coffee at Starbucks. I mean, there are dozens of local coffee shops and micro-roasters all over the area that serve much better tasting coffee beans. But if a friend insists to meet up at one, this is usually the one we pick as they have their "Reserve" selection of single origin beans that are up to par with what you'd expect at your local spots! And this location always has plenty of seating and a large sized patio. It's not overly crowded like the other ones and has that ambiance that Starbucks was once known for back in the day! They're one of the few locations with a clover machine so it'll make your cuppa joe taste much better than any drip machine. read more

I'm the dog half of the two that you kicked out today. First of all, can you figure out your policy on animals WHO ARE CARRIED INTO THE STORE?! I know you think that dogs don't belong, but I'm too loved to be tied up outside AND just a month ago, dogs were still allowed to be carried in. I weigh 9 freaking pounds, and what if my dad had a purse that I was in ... is that different somehow? I've heard the lame "DM or Health Department won't allow it" excuse before, but your policies supposedly changed a couple of years ago and it was allowed. No need to be a dick about your change in policies. Secondly, one small pleasure I have in my few short remaining years is getting whipped topping licks off my daddy's mocha. You said you'd bring his drink outside to us when you kicked us out, and then it sat there for over 5 minutes at the bar. My daddy called the store and let you know that you forgot. Starbucks, period is awesome. Place is inexpensive in comparison to other cafe shops. Wifi is available which is super convenient. However, this location in Adams and Marlborough is quite slow. LJ the worker was quite Talkative yet not concentrating on the fact that I had been waiting for over 15 minutes. My coffee was behind her the whole time. The only "bad" thing and it's not really their fault is that I tried to order a Pink Drink on the app and it said it was sold out. Once I arrived at the store, the person said they could make it and unsure what is going on with the app. The staff people were nice and pleasant and there were plenty of spots to study. This is such a CUTE Starbucks, great layout and patio- comfy chairs and plenty of outlets- but I have to say that it's SCARY at night! I've only been there twice but one time some creepy dude was eyeing/touching my friend and I needed to make adeliberate yet non-confrontational move to kind of protect her... the guy left but eeeeeeee-scawwwy! Then last night my friend an I went in again near closing time and when we left a guy held the door for us to exit... we walked a little and then circled back and saw the same guy in handcuffs next to a Police car right outside the Starbucks.... again eeeeeeeee-scawwwwy! I really do try to patronize the local small businesses, but you just can't compare for to this Starbucks for service. Every time I go, the person at the register, whoever they are, always greets me with eye contact, a smile and a kind word. They are always patient and helpful. The food and drinks are always fresh and the restrooms are always clean and unlocked. Great to have easy access to a restroom when you've got kids in tow. Also love their outdoor patio seating and their dog-friendly policy out there. My dog always stops for a sip of water when we pass by. Honestly, I try to stay away from Starbucks because I generally trend toward little mom-and-pop joints, but the service I have received across the street was far from stellar. I also don't particularly like taking my kids to Starbucks that often because it's like taking them to Ben n Jerry's. However, at least Starbucks chooses to offer organic sugary treats and juices. read more

I like this Starbucks it's got good AC especially crucial during the summer bit bad during the winter. It's a nice quiet neighborhood with a cafe across the street and a park and a library.
