There was this gentleman whom has always been very kind and welcoming. Being i come in everyday and spend a little over $1000 a month I guess you can say Im a regular. I ordered a caramel machiatto asked if it came with drizxle he said yes. From my prior experience they always lined up the cup. Well my drink looked like a glass of milk with coffee on top n no drizzle on cup only ontop of whip. When I went and explained to the gentleman my issue and I said "you understand what I mean?" And his answer to me was of course I know what you mean. Im not stupid! Like whoa buddy! This Starbucks is always really nice. I've been here several times and the barista Jennifer was really nice and helped me make a better Peppermint Mocha. It's really good with 3 pumps of Mocha instead of 4, oat milk, and the usual 4 pumps of Peppermint. It's always clean inside and has a good setup in terms of flow and seating. This Starbucks has no bathroom for customers. They send their customers across the street to a not so clean Carl's Jr bathroom. They do have a bathroom, but they refuse to allow customers to use it. This makes for an unfortunately unclean dining experience, when customers have nowhere to wash their hands. I'd say the ambiance in this Starbucks is substandard since one must walk across a parking lot to use the restroom or to wash your hands. read more

I guess I need to start by saying I do not go to Starbucks for coffee and recognize they will do just fine without my business in that regard, LOL, but when I need a quick snack, I find myself in their drive-thrus often. There bacon egg bites and chicken quinoa protein bowl are go-to options when I am in need of a quick, and fairly healthy snack. I don't typically review any Starbucks but I felt compelled after an experience I just had. My critique of them has always been what I would describe as "burnt coffee" who won say begin my own coffee journey and realize there was 1 million other places to go, I started utilizing Starbucks in a different way and that's for their food. The reason why I am putting up a review today is because one thing I highly value as customer service. I am used to long lines at Starbucks and for the most part they go pretty quick, but for whatever reason today it was taking longer. I didn't feel like it was long enough to get upset but when I pulled up to Pay for my bacon egg bites, the barista kindly said, "So sorry for the wait, this is on us today." I wasn't expecting that, definitely wasn't upset asking for anything like that, yet they gave it to me anyway. Well done Starbucks. This is the last time I come here. The staff are incredibly rude here and cannot make a decent cup of coffee. If I wanted a glass of milk I'd ask for just milk. I can go right back to sleep after buying coffee here as it does nothing for me. Also, the air conditioner blowing on high when it is 40 degrees outside is a bit much. Maybe try putting on some heat in the morning so customers are comfortable. I do not recommend this location. read more

Not all Starbucks are good but I love the convenience of their drive thru. This particular location seems to be one of the better in area. Shaken espresso on ice is my typical go to and this location gets out right most of the time. (Look at picture) Seems when the girls are making the drinks it tastes way better I'm just guessing. Other locations forget the classic or just taste diluted like they shorted me shots. Exterior appearance: Excellent condition and well maintained. Interior appearance. The same. Maybe a few tables needed cleaning up but nothing serious. Once it gets less crowded we'll see as I'll be hanging out for awhile. Restrooms: Clean. Service: Friendly with a smile. The two baristas I interacted with were both professional, courteous, attentive. Food: Ordered a Tomato Mozzarella sandwich and Venti Caramel Macchiato upside down. Tomato Mozzarella: Warmed up, delicious, tasted great and as expected compared to other sandwiches eaten at other Starbucks locations Caramel Macchiato: Not as sweet as compared to other Starbucks locations I have visited, but still good enough to enjoy and not complain about at all. Overall: Quite satisfied. Great to know they also have a drive through. My first time visiting this location, so I'll definitely come back if I'm ever in the vicinity. Update: 2023.08.07 - Been here a few hours. Happy to notice the employees cleaned up the tables, swept the floors, cleaned up the bathrooms - even though not much traffic there, and an employee went outside to check on the exterior. On Oct 14th morning shift, my boyfriend and I received our drinks and mine was incorrect. He went inside to get it fixed and the manger completely scolded one of the baristas right in front of everybody. This is more of a problem than the barista who made the drink incorrectly. It's humiliating for the barista and very uncomfortable for my boyfriend who now feels bad for creating the situation. The manager was very much in the wrong. That is not how you MANAGE a situation. No one should ever have to put up with an abusive work environment. You talk to them privately no matter how frustrated you are at an employee. That manger needs a serious reality check and needs to work on their problem solving skills. read more

I'm pregnant and so I've had to switch to drinking decaf. This is the second time I've gone to this location to try and order a decaf iced latte, which I've been craving, and they've said they are "out of decaf" or the "machine is down". Don't you just use decaf espresso in the regular machine instead of regular espresso? And how does Starbucks run out of decaf?? I'm totally befuddled and honestly very saddened by this. I enjoyed my visit to this newly opened Starbucks. I spent a little here on the account I had some work to get finished. I ordered and iced coffee with a touch of cream and no sugar and a petite vanilla bean scone. The iced coffee was good and the cream definitely mellowed it out. It had good strong coffee flavor and did not feel watered down. The scone was good but it was to soft for a scone. The flavor was nice and it certainly tasted like vanilla. The young ladies at the counter were all in high spirits and in high gear. They a large numbers of employees here and it's not a surprise given how busy the drive thru was. Super quick in and out makes me a happy woman! I've been in here so many times and each time I've had friendly interactions, quick service and my drink is always tasty. Both drive thru and inside have been great. I don't believe I've ordered anything but oatmeal to eat, but they make it just right. Usually I'm grabbing to go so I haven't spent time inside, other than to wait for my order, but I did notice seating is super limited and always full when I'm there so I probably wouldn't bring a book or hope to grab a seat and relax. read more

I recently had a really frustrating experience at this Starbucks. I waited in line for 20 minutes, which I understand since they obviously were understaffed. However, after ordering two drinks, a sandwich, and a cake pop, we got to the window, paid, and only then were told they were out of the sandwich we ordered. The barista offered to substitute it or give a refund, but it was frustrating that this wasn't mentioned before we paid. We chose a substitute because, at this point, we had already waited too long and just wanted to leave. When we got our drinks, they were completely melted--the ice was gone, and the cold foam had mixed into the drink, clearly from sitting out for too long. As if that wasn't bad enough, when my boyfriend grabbed the sandwich, it fell straight out of the bag because both ends were open. It hit the floor before we could even eat it. This Starbucks is a joke, I went about 20minutes ago through the drive thru and the person working the drive thru had an attitude with me over the speaker. Also while waiting I heard the same person yelling at an older person in their car the money they still owed and then walking away and having someone else "deal" with them. Then once it was my turn the person working the head set with two color sleeves (tattoos) gave me my drink the same person with the attitude from before and my iced drink had ZERO ice in it.... I didn't realize until it was to late. I tried to call and tell them and they pretended that they couldn't hear me on the phone. Crazy to think just a few years ago, Starbucks was actually reducing it's amount of stores and now they're back to opening more. This latest Starbucks off the corner of Clairemont and Burgener just opened up not too long ago. This whole shopping center is going through a remodel, as they add a Sprouts and other stores. This store, like most of their newer locations is very spacious inside with plenty of room to sit, enjoy your coffee and perhaps do some work on your laptop. It also has a very convenient drive thru so you can pick up your drink to go. When visiting this Starbucks, I was simply here to drop by and grab a quick iced drink to refuel my caffeine. I'm not a very big fan of their drip coffee, but their cold brew coffee is always an excellent choice for me. The staff here were very friendly and prompt about taking my order. However they seem to be still working some bugs out, it took them a while to get customer's drinks inside going compared to them concentrating so much on their drive thru ones. They were getting everything ready for the drive thru but really lagging on preparing the ones for people waiting inside. I'm sure with time they'll figure out the system. Overall it's a clean fresh looking location with nice ample parking out front. read more

The only reason I keep coming here is bc my bf only drinks Starbucks. Nobody in that place can seem to get an order correct. Thursday, ordered a grande pike cream and 1 Splenda.. says it right in the cup yet it's in a tall size.. today, 2 bagels with cream cheese and one grande pike cream and 2 Splenda... I get one bagel with 2 cream cheese and a black coffee which I didn't notice until I got ALL THE WAY HOME. Do you guys not offer training for your employees because it seems like a total free for all over there. I'm supporting Clairemont coffee only from now on. They have great customer service, organic coffee, cost less and yet to screw up a simple drip coffee. You guys really need to step up your game. The older I get, the better a drive-thru looks to me. Not because I am lazy or have a bunch of squalling kids in my car but because it takes effort to park and go in to stand in a long line to buy something to wake you up. So Thank you sweet Jesus for this most excellent and NEW Starbucks. I was coming down the Clairemont Drive hill this morning and saw the big sign that announced NOW OPEN. I made a beeline for the driveway and got right in line. The drive-thru moved fast. (A good sign of competence.) A nice, pleasant gentleman was handling things nicely at the window. No surly Starbucks uppity-ness here. The outside exterior landscaping still looked new but it utilized drought-resistant plants and lots of rocks. Did you know this location was previously a McDonald's but when they closed the grocery store in the shopping center last year, I noticed the McDonald's shut their Golden Arches there, too. I did venture inside for a coffee refill and admired the interior. Large, roomy and kind of high tech looking. Young millennials were busy on their laptops and so far, no signs of the homeless taking over, as they are wont to do at Starbucks locales in Pacific and Ocean Beach. There are 2 gender free bathrooms down a hallway. I must say that I hope nearby local Clairemont Coffee can co-exist peaceably with this new neighborhood behemoth. This new drive-thru has breathed life back into this somewhat faltering strip mall. When the new, fancy Sprouts opens up in the old Keil's spot next year, watch out! read more

This is one of the newer Starbucks. Nice large airy and open inside. There are tables for 4 or more tucked in the back area. By the order area there is a long cushioned bench with solo tables. If you want to watch the world go by there are about a dozen chairs at a long bar. There are also a few chairs at the counter like an old fashioned diner. There is outside seating with umbrellas and also the all-important drive through! I was here at 730 AM on a Wednesday and it was relatively quiet, although busy. The music wasn't blaring (thank you!) like at other Starbucks. This looks like it would be a nice place for a business meeting, to get some work done, or hang with friends. It's just Far enough away from the 5 freeway that they don't get commuter traffic. I like it. read more

This is a newer location by my house and it's really great to have a Starbucks right down the street from me. I love coming to this Starbucks because they make the best sweet cream vanilla cold brew's. Literally every other Starbucks I've been to hasn't made it this good. But today I wasn't really impressed. The drink literally has the word sweet cream in it. And my dad and I got dark brown iced coffee's and it tasted horrible. It was too late to go back because the line was horrifically long and I felt bad saying something and holding up the line. Maybe some more training would help? read more

This is by far the worst Starbucks in the area. Perhaps even those worst one anywhere. It was exciting when they first opened a few years back to have one so close by. It's been nothing but a disappointment since. I figured in the beginning they just needed to work out a few kinks... I can't tell you how many times I've asked while ordering if they have something before I place my order. They tell me they do, so I proceed to order it, wait in line for a long time ( because they are so slow) only to get up to the window for them to tell me they actually don't have the item. Stop being so lazy and go check to see if you actually have the item. One time I waited so long to get to the drive through to order that I parked and went inside only to find one person in line who already ordered just gabbing away to the cashier. I literally stood there for 5 minutes WITHOUT BEING ACKNOWLEDGED before I asked if she had ordered. You guys really need to get it together. Stop letting people place their order, wait 20 minutes in line for 4 cars ahead to tell us when we get to the window that you can't make the order. Unacceptable. I am going to say that when this location opened it was easily the BEST starbucks in San Diego. Living in Spring Valley this location is not the closest but I would always make a point to stop by when I was in the neighborhood visiting family and friends. Even if I was in between I would go out if my way to get my caffeine dose at this location. Unfortunately the quality didn't last and has slowly been deteriorating. Today is the last straw and I do not think I will return. I wanted a kids lemonade, same as a tall but a little more than a dollar cheaper. He never heard of it so I ordered a tall. I was rang up for a special lemonade that my toddler won't drink that doesn't only cost more than the kids lemonade but the tall lemonade as well. I ordered myself a brown sugar oatmilk shaken espresso in my own cup. To start I didn't get the discount I am supposed to get or the bonus stars. The drink tastes NOTHING like the drink any other time I've had it (everyday). It tastes like a vanilla iced coffee. I cannot taste oatmilk and even that thicker consistency of the oatmilk is not there. Being Lactose intolerant I am not going to drink this since it tastes like milk. UPDATE We have visited this Starbucks a few times recently, and the accuracy of orders, wifi, and customer service have been improving. ---------------------------------------- Recognizing this Starbucks just opened, despite an initial visit with drink mistakes my husband and I decided to give it a second chance. And a third, and a fourth... We finally decided to stop going because they kept making drink mistakes. At one instance, I had to explain to two baristas that I'd like a decaf iced coffee. Both objected in her turn to even this simple request, and I ended up with an ice water. On top of this, their internet does not work most of the time. Since it is a new location, the interior is spacious and nice for hanging out, but I wouldn't recommend it for wifi. There is an independent coffee shop a 2 min walk away, as well as a library across the street, so unless things improve we will not be going to this Starbucks. read more
