There checks are also just a bunch of numbers with no names next to them so you DEFINITELY don't know what prices go to what and what they charge you for. While visiting the area the area we found this small diner just up the road from the RV park we are staying at for the weekend. The food was so delicious and service good we went back on Sunday! It was a little later and busier on Sunday so we sat in the covered area outside, it was very nice. The host was very friendly. It took a little while to get our order in on Sunday in but the food arrived timely and the coffee kept coming. Lovely place with good food on both days. We would definitely come back. read more

Then make sure to check out the selection of freshly baked pies. The price is comparable to any of the other breakfast and lunch dinners available in the area. The kitchen and the chef are in plain view and is it great to see the chef with gloves and changing them every time a new order came. The staff all wear masks and strive to keep everything clean and with appropriate separation. Looking around the rotisserie chicken seems to be the most popular, but I went with the Lomo and I am not sorry I did. Check it out, you won't be disappointed. It has recently been brought to my attention via Yelp HQ that my review may not meet the "guidelines". I was asked to review and edit and remove any biased comments. That being said I will update my review. At our last visit we were served cold food and an entire entre was missing. Also the hostess decided on his own without asking permission to tap my grandsons head face and shoulder. Not knowing how many other children he's touched no hand sanitizer in sight I was concerned for my grandsons safety my family and others. We were guests not a part of their family. He had no business touching anyone especially without permission. We sat on the patio next to another family that brought their dog. Very hairy shedding dog. Dinning with a dog that needed a bath and was shedding everywhere not to mention being served cold and missing food on top of my family's space being violated led to a conclusion we won't be revisiting this restaurant. read more

Lots of items to choose from on the menu... The atmosphere was comforting.. Made me feel like family there.. Well worth your money these days... I had a Denver Omelette, and hash browns ... large portions of tasty food.... And they kept my coffee cup full... I noticed a lot of tourists, and locals enjoying there meals... great place to check out. They have fresh home made pies... When I do business in town, I bring my clients to Start Fresh Cafe.. Very good little cafe on the coast highway. I opted for the fish and chips. Glad I did. Though the sauerkraut was a little sweet for me, the batter on the fish was light and very delicate. The fish very mild and the almost steak fries were meaty and cooked just right. A friendly and attentive waitress did a great job. I would definitely go back to try some other lunch fare while I rush around to appointments. Way better than fast food. Love their chalkboards with specials and some cute sentiments. Came in today (9/5) bout 3 other ppl sitting down eating Order the biscuits and gravy combo Food came out warm to touch Small portioned breakfast potatoes mostly peppers and onions Brought an extra plate out as I was sharing with my son she turned around and said ooh this plate has some stuff on it I'll grab a cleaner one I passed He can share off my plate Biscuits and gravy were good until I came across hair in them Notified waitress and get a response of "Oh well do you want another one" No thanks who knows how many hairs I already ate at this point and wasn't interested in being served more Nothing more from that I used to love coming to this spot but seems to being goin downhill a bit.. Came here on Valentines Day and it was pretty busy. We were able to get a seat right away. The service was great and fast. Food was absolutely delicious and it was fresh. Yelp led us astray on this one. The service seemed quite confused as to whether the bus boy, the hostess, or the waitress should be handling our table. When we finally got our coffees, my mom's decaf actually tasted stronger than my regular, and both were lukewarm at best. The food had good flavor and came in manageable portion sizes. But thanks to the draftiness of the place, it chilled very quickly. (And we were way inside the restaurant, next to the kitchen.) Also, the biscuits were nearly inedible -- bottoms caked in flour, and the interior not at all fluffy and moist like they should be. On the other hand, the bacon was crisp and not at all oily, so kudos to that. Overall, not the best experience, but not the worst either. I probably wouldn't choose to eat here again, though, not with places like Dons just down the street. read more

The food is good, but if you sit in the corner booth, DON'T look in the corner window sill...their is a graveyard of flies. I was shocked to see so many of them. I would guess 30+ dead flies. The filled hash browns were amazeballs. I just wanted a small breakfast but couldn't stop eating... and the plates are huge. The service was very friendly and made sure we don't run out of water to wash these 2 pounds of breakfast down. I wished the place had more healthy food options though, because now I'll be tired all day. Totally worth it though. If you swing by check out the stuffed hash browns. The interior is clean and typical dine in. The restrooms are clean as well. I can recommend this place for breakfast and I guess lunch, but unfortunately they close at 2pm. read more

This place is a gem! The food was delicious. I ordered a short stack with the red white and blue toppings. This added fresh strawberries, blueberries and bananas to my pancakes. Actual fresh fruit, not usual diner additions of syrup covered berries. My side of potato hash was so large it was served on a dinner side plate by itself. The portions are LARGE. My husband ordered the stuffed hash browns and he raved about it. It's a small place, but parking was easy to find and we didn't have to wait for a seat. I have probably driven by Start Fresh Cafe a million times. I was with my Dad and niece and we were looking for a breakfast/lunch place on a Saturday afternoon. So we decided to pop into Start Fresh Cafe. Everything looked completely amazing!! Being vegan, my options were limited, but the hash browns and bowl of fruit I had were delicious. My niece, who had just eaten, completely polished her plate and loved every bite of it. My Dad loved the omlet he got, I believe it was one of the specials. Our waitress was so sweet and knowledgeable as was the rest of the staff. We even played Apples to Apples, which was a fun way to pass time while we waited for our delicious food. read more

Start Fresh just reopened for dine in. They have been offering takeout for weeks. Went there for dine in breakfast this morning. Can sit inside (booths are appropriately marked for social distancing) or outside (again appropriate for social distancing). The staff are fantastic and the cleanliness was above and beyond. However the main thing is the food. One of the best breakfasts we have had out in a long time..... The biscuits are just like grandma used to make.... Omelets, pancakes, etc all superb! I've been here a few times and have never been disappointed! The food is always a crowd pleaser, as they have traditional breakfast selections as well as fun choices like Honey Bunches of Oats French toast and chicken and waffles. Last time I got the vegetarian scramble and LOVED it. The veggies were fresh and the serving size was crazy filling. Today, I felt like splurging on calories so I went for the chicken and waffles. Definitely a good choice! The chicken was some of the best fried chicken I've had anywhere, crispy as could be on the outside and really moist on the inside (even the breast). The breading/batter on the chicken wasn't heavily seasoned (dare I say it was on the blander side) which would have been a shame as a standalone, but it was perfect paired with the maple syrup and butter from the waffles. No competing flavors. The waffle was delicious as well. The servings are always on the larger side. The chicken and waffles comes with four pieces of chicken (leg, wing, breast, thigh) and a giant Belgian waffle. The rest of my group had plenty of sides to take home or share. I wasn't the biggest fan of the hash browns because they came out more mushy than crispy, but overall this is a great little breakfast spot with excellent service! I really enjoyed this place for breakfast! The menu has a big variety of options. I went with the lumberjack and a short stack of buttermilk pancakes topped with fresh strawberries, banana, and blueberries. My wife ordered the classic eggs Benedict, she said it was really good and would definitely come back. Happy wife happy life... right? I would definitely come back! The atmosphere is like a 1980s diner and the workers are very friendly and nice. Food took about 20 min after submitting the order. This is a new place that just popped up in Oceanside and I've been craving chilaquiles so I had to go. It's a hole in the wall sort of diner but worth a shot from all the good pictures that I've seen on here. Food wise: I went with the Chilaquiles green with steak and hash browns. They were a bit soggy and the chips weren't as crispy as I had hoped but the food was still good. Ambience: This place looks like it replaced an old diner. It was a bit older but everything was clean and they are dog friendly. Service: The waitress was friendly and looked like she worked hard to get food out on time and help with anything you need Price wise: Decently priced. Overall: I'd come back to try other things on the menu. I'm not so sure I'd go with the chilaquiles again cause I like chips more crispy but they have other options too. read more
