Okay this is my favorite cafe in Oceanside for delicious diner food at a decent price. Omelettes are fluffy and delicious. I've tried a lot of their menu, mostly breakfast stuff, and have never been disappointed. Just know that on busy weekends they don't answer their phones, like at all, so you might have to go in to place a take out order. Wish they were available on doordash as well. read more

For what this place is, a breakfast and lunch diner, it's a great option, as long as you don't want mimosas or bloody mary's, they are non-alcoholic only. We ran the Turkey Trot 10k on Thanksgiving Day and we were famished, and having a late dinner for Thanksgiving, not til 6pm so we came in here for breakfast. I got the green chilaquiles with carne, was excellent. My mom got the Popeye's omelette? Whatever spinach omelette. And her boyfriend got the biscuits and gravy. We were so impressed with this place! It might not look like much from the street but don't let that deter you. It was walking distance from our Airbnb. We arrived with 3 kids and they brought books over to keep the little ones occupied. The menu had an excellent selection of everything, especially flavored mimosas and multiple kinds of eggs Benedict. The fruit sides were better than most restaurants, and included strawberries, bananas, melon, and grapes. Service was excellent. They kept the coffee and waters refilled. There were some homemade-looking pies up front that we didn't get a chance to try but they looked good! The only constructive criticism I have is that they need to elevate their coffee game. I searched the internet for pies. I saw where Start Fresh Café Pies were $14.95 so I drove to Start Fresh Cafe and bought 2 pies. A Banana Cream Pie and a Apple. I gave her, the waitress, my credit card and my receipt said $44.27. I told the waitress they advertise on the internet that their pies are $14.95. She, the waitress, tells me people do fraud and post fake things. I told her, the waitress, no, this is you, your business. She then says, look, it's a picture. I said, of course it's a picture, it's a picture of your pies with the price. She then tells me, look at the picture, it's 3 years old. I told her, that's your companies responsibility to change it and up date it. She then tells me they've been trying to get them to do it but can't get a hold of them. I told her she needs to tell the owner about this because this could be bad for them. She offered to refund me the charge but I told her no, I'll take them, it's already been charged. She said okay. She was very polite about everything and it's not hey fault, it falls on the owner. Beware all. read more

Very quaint, family owned business that absolutely rocks! The service by Frankie was phenomenal, the food super fresh and very enjoyable. The restaurant is very clean and airy. Prices are perfect and the breakfast omelette recommendation by Frankie, the chorizo omelette, absolutely ROCKED! The only reason I didn't give them a five, is that they have a huge sign out front about fish and chips, but that's only an item on the menu! Unfortunately people are bound to look at that big sign and think this is just a fish and chips restaurant which it is NOT! We first decided to have breakfast at Beach Break just down the street, but knowing how hectic it get's there, my boyfriend decided we'd try this place out. Soo glad we did. We arrived and there was no wait. The service was phenomenal. Our server was very accommodating and fast when it came to getting our food and refills. Prices are a little high but that's because the portions are huge! Their menu has a variety of items which made me get the chilaquiles. They weren't spicy at all which kinda disappointed me because being a Mexican spicy is a must. Overall, the food is good and service is fast. The hash brown sandwich was eggs, sausage, gravy sandwiched between 2 hash browns. Delicious! The flavors and textures melded together perfectly. Well, we just finished eating our first time breakfast at this restaurant. The service was quick, the food was and 8, and the price was fair. We received a 10% discount because my mom is a senior citizen. Too bad they don't offer military discount considering that this is a military community. Wifey dish, veggie omelet was good, mom's dish, veggie scrambled was good too; however, my menudo was a little bit too thick/greasy. Otherwise it would have been perfect. So I want to give this place 5 Stars. They allow and love dogs. Our server was fabulous, friendly and attentive but not overly so. The food was really tasty and well seasoned. My only gripe is that I ordered a rather expensive meal (the Cinco De Mayo, which is a lovely dish) and it came cold. When they warmed it back up in the microwave the carne asada and eggs were over done. I really love over medium eggs and medium rare steak but I made the most of it and ate it like a burrito, which was fine but a $14 carne asada breakfast burrito isn't really ideal. read more

I'm not sure if it was how they were made but the biscuits themselves were other old or just slightly overdone. Other than that, the gravy was amazing, and I'm very picky about gravy haha.
