Incredible potato cakes with homemade ranch.

OMG - wow! My husband and I love breakfast. We are on a long road trip and had a crummy stay at a hotel last night. I used Yelp to find a breakfast spot. We drove a little out of the way for this and we are so glad we did! Fabulous ambiance - EXACTLY as advertised. The place was packed at 10 am. 5 waitresses humping hard. ALL 5 stopped at our table while we were there...water, coffee, taking our order, bringing me a taste of "Goetta" (yummy!) Huge menu. Husband ordered the eggs and sausage breakfast plate with Funnel cake sticks. I ordered a breakfast sandwich with potato cakes on the side. The potatoe cakes were epic - truly, I will dream about them! Homemade strawberry jam was yummy too! Oh, and the best coffee we have both had in quite some time!

Exactly what I want in a little greasy spoon diner. Since I moved from NJ in 2016, one of the biggest things I've missed (besides Wawa) is a good diner - the concept just hasn't hit the mainstream out here in the Cincinnati/NKY area. With a couple of exceptions (shoutout to Diane's!) it's just something I've had to live without - until discovering State Line. We drove about 30 minutes from Kentucky to get here, and wow I'm glad I did. This was the exact experience I was hoping for. Throwback, classic, and unpretentious décor, friendly staff, and food that is awesomely high in calories but tastes fantastic. We went early on a weekend morning and barely got a seat. We ordered our food and started people-watching - every slice of life was represented there, and it felt like going back in time in the best of ways. Loved this place and love the fact that they are doing their thing and holding onto what a local restaurant experience should really feel like. Five whole stars, and will 100% be back.

Took my sister for a birthday breakfast and it was yummy. This is a gem in Greendale Indiana. It's a diner with delicious food. The staff makes you feel like family. I got 2 eggs over easy with rye toast goetta and hash browns. The hash browns had bacon in it. Genius. My sister got biscuits with sausage gravy. What a great place!

There's never a bad time to go to one of the finest greasy spoons I know of. Even though we've long since moved out of Indiana we still come back here from time to time all the same. We've been here so many times over the years I'm not gonna go too in depth. I got the "Homestyle Favourites" breakfast which came with 2 eggs (over medium), 1 breakfast meat (Cajun Goetta for me), home fries, and toast with pepper jelly. The eggs were fine as were the home fries. The Cajun Goetta is always a must get for me as it's the best Goetta that I've ever eaten from anywhere. It's Goetta with a nice kick. Also not to be forgotten is their pepper jelly which is epic on toast. All of this great food at a very affordable price. Stellar place.

Food was pretty decent for what we consider a hole in the wall! Service wasn't the best. We asked for split checks, received one. Asked for gravy on the side, gravy came on top of the biscuit. Asked for jelly, no jelly was brought to the table. The loaded home fries made this trip just past the border worth it, otherwise it was just okay.

Great little dive, a little different than a nj diner. But food and service was perfect.

What kind of fries are served? Crinkle? Is the fish any good?

The fries are 3/8 straight cut seasoned fries. Our fish is a hand breaded cod fillet. It is definitely one of our most favorite menu items.

Imagine my surprise when I found out that the Waffle House was open! Let's be serious, we aren't surprised. Waffle House has no family. Upon entering, there is no mistake where you are. Lights, windows, floor tiles. Everything checks out. You could scrub the name off everything at this establishment and the moment you walked in you would say, "oh, yeah. Waffle House. Nice." Some things just have That Look™ or Those Patrons™ or That Lawsuit™. Everything you've read about this place is true. In every location. Everywhere. Patron get a waitress pregnant? Check. Cook fistfight man parking his car? Check. Waffle with a cigarette butt cooked into it? Check. My saying is usually "hope for the worst, it's the least that can happen." Knowing the bare minimum for Waffle House will set you right up for experiencing their bare maximum. And that's exactly what I got! I ordered 1 (one) waffle, (2) Eggs, and (sausage). I'm a bacon man through and through, but the Waffle House Deities™ were whispering in my ear. Or screaming from the kitchen. I did not order the sticky table. That came as a bonus for dining there. The food came out and was not disappointed. The eggs were flat top grilled. Probably by a man working under an alias and getting paid cash under the table. They were a good constancy. A little S-n-P, and down the hatch they went. The sausage patties were round. As patties usually are. Don't let the dry, bland exterior food you. These actually had some good flavor. The kind of flavor you get from a cook with one hand. The waffle had a brown skin on it. Whether or not it came from the wild that way, nobody knows.
