Their appetizers, beer and vibe are on point! I am only giving 4 stars because I had one of the worst bourbon cocktails I've ever had there. I brought it back up to the desk and talked to the bartender about it and found out that all their cocktails are pre-mixed! If the person making the cocktails reads this, please check the mix on the bourbon-fig ! If you are in the mood for a cocktail I would not go here, however, for anything else - I highly recommend! read more

For the past 6 months, we have diligently driven from our house in Edgewood to State Street to pick up their INCREDIBLE pizzas! Most definitely the best pizza we've found in Tacoma, and it certainly doesn't hurt that they carry a great selection of beer and wine. Nice little beer bar located in the 6th Ave. shopping and restaurant area. Steve and I ducked in here a little while back and had some great guest tap beers here. The guest taps are from all over... there are plenty of local breweries on tap but ones from out of state as well. The staff are super nice about giving you a taste of something before you decide to get a glass... which you can get in a couple different sizes. Seating here is very comfortable and there is a very cozy outdoor area to enjoy your drinks when the weather is nice. I had a great lager here and tried a milkshake type flavored beer from a brewery in Colorado. Both beers were excellent but since this is a place where the beers rotate often don't expect to see the same options stick around for very long. read more

State street is your cozy neighborhood bar with great beer and even better food. I love coming here because its decorated super cute and the woman who is always working there is super sweet. They have about 10 rotating taps, with a flavor profile for every beer lover as well as several wine options. Food menu is more like small plates but everything is delicious. My favorites being the Charcuterie board & the pepper pizza. Prices are super reasonable, definitely a chill place for a bite and beverage 6th Ave. read more

BLUF: A tiny, cozy bar to hang out with friends over drinks and good food. This venue is off of 6th Avenue and was a nice little stop. They have a wide variety of local beers, and the bartenders are very accommodating as they let me sample several of the beers before settling on a choice for the night. There's some outdoor seating available, and it has a very relaxed vibe. There were some other choices of food available, particularly the flatbreads. We ordered a couple for the table, and they came out quickly. Very tasty for a quick bite and drink in the area. I'll definitely drop by again if I'm in the area, and recommend this place for others to try out! read more

This is a great place to get a pizza. The crust is thin and the toppings are generous and fanciful. It's expensive for a fairly small pizza but the quality is good and worth it when you need a little treat. They're pretty quick as well. Came during the "pandemic" so there were a lot of open tables and a very relaxed vibe. Great beer - horrible smell. It reminded me of being a child and my mom cleaning the oven, you know that god awful 700 degree burnt food scraps smell. Really really bad. And it didn't go away after an hour, it only got worse. Really solid, no frills joint with great food at good prices. I enjoy the straightforward approach, order your food and beverages at the counter, take a seat and enjoy when it comes out. The interior is warm, open and friendly. It has sonewhat of a coffeehouse feel, and there's are games you can play. This is a place you can sit and take your time at. They have several good beers and some ciders on tap, but no full bar, which allows them to not need a bartender and keep the staff minimal. The pizza is quite good, especially for the price. I do miss the days when they had happy hour, it was fantastic. All in all, I enjoy the minimalstic approach which in the end, saves the patron money while still delivering great food in a great atmosphere. read more

A perfect PNW craft beer hang out! The bar has an earthy, welcoming feel- the perfect place to grab a few local beers with friends. I had the opportunity to enjoy all that State Street Beer has to offer during a private event today. We sampled a bunch of the local beers on tap and snacked on various flatbreads on the menu- all of which were amazing! They use naan for the crust which is genius and SO yummy. My favorite flatbread was the Pepper- mozz, salami and peppers. Delish! State Street is really new in the neighborhood but will quickly become a staple. Super cute beer (and wine, yawn) bar right on the fringe of the infamous 6th ave district. We went in here for a couple drinks (and a snack) either before or after dinner. Beer selection is pretty decent--10-12 taps if I remember counting correctly. Heavily PNW influence, but there was a beer from San Francisco as well in there. DISCLAIMER: ***BJCP Beer Judge review*** For the most part it's a cool selection of beers. Unfortunately a couple of the beers on tap were just average / borderline flawed: a no-li brown ale that was astringent as fuck, and the tsunami stout from Pelican brewing was acrid and ashy. Did anyone taste these beers before they were put on tap? Now that the unpleasantries are out of the way, the snacks were really pretty decent. We got the cheese (brie?) plate, and it was decadent and delicious. Apparently they sell wine, if you just landed from the 70s and 80s and haven't discovered craft beer yet. Awesome little gem of a spot, just far enough off 6th ave that is has a neighborhood feel and isn't overly annoyingly crowded--yet. read more

Nice newer beer bar on 6th ave. It's cute, trendy and whimsical inside, reminds me of some breweries in Portland. They had a good selection of beer, a few local ones and some from Oregon. I finally tried State Street's pizza and it did not disappoint. I'm dairy free, so I really appreciate the effort put into making delicious, creative vegan pizzas. Stumbled upon this place as we made our way to Art on 6th Ave event. I was attracted to the nice decor, my husband to the word beer on their sign. The place is on the small side but feels open and inviting due to the kind of modern farmhouse decor. I loved the reclaimed wood details, subway tile backsplash, beautiful wallpaper in one of the booths and I loved that they integrated a tree out front into their design. It provides shade for patrons sitting outside and it just looks pretty with strings of lights. The outdoor space is pet friendly so that's a big plus for us. Anyway, we ordered two beers and the salami flatbread pizza. Beers were good, a porter and a summer stout if I remember correctly. The flatbread pizza was on the smaller side, about the size of a dinner plate. Enough for two people as a snack or for one as an entree. The flavors were great though, I could taste the basil tomato sauce, the drizzle of honey and the salami and the dough was cooked all the way. The only con was the amount of cheese, it seemed to be too much for that tiny pizza. We will definitely come back. read more
