This Stater Bros was my go-to supermarket for over 10 years when I was still living in the City of Upland. Now I visit it whenever I'm in the neighborhood and I happen to need something quick. It's conveniently located on Baseline Ave and Mountain Blvd. It's only a few blocks from the 210 Fwy. Cool! I was here to pick up some cookies or snacks for a potluck. I was in a rush so I didn't get to take any photos at the time. I will do so next time. Anyway, it's not a very huge store like some of the ones we see today. It's adequate as it has the necessity in fresh produce, meats, seafood, dairy, bread, baked goods, household stuff, and more. Store is usually immaculately clean and organized. Staff has always been pleasant over the years. Customer service is exceptional. Adequate parking is shared with other businesses. Btw, Upland Donuts is in the same shopping center. Can't go wrong with shopping and donuts! read more

This Stater Bros is super convenient and the staff here are always nice. Being a smaller location, you can expect that they won't have the full selection of the bigger Stater Bros down the hill or Albertsons for example. They just did a huge renovation and added a sushi bar where a sushi vendor makes pre packaged sushi in front of you every day! The sushi is very good for grocery store sushi and I'll pick some up from time to time. Make sure to eat it same day! You may ask why I gave this grocery store 2 stars, then. Unfortunately it boils down to the check out. They just did a huge remodel and didn't think to add any self check out stands. Being a neighborhood store, I want to pop in and out, and sometimes it can take 20 minutes to check out here due to Grandma Smith paying in pennies and creating a line of 5-6 people. Being a "neighborhood" location I want to get in and out as quickly as possible. If I was okay with waiting or had an hour to spare, I'll just drive to Aldi down the hill or Albertsons on campus where I'll either save money or be able to find everything in one trip. I liked coming to this Stater Bros before going to visit my friend and his mom for the evening last week. Staters is one of the last markets that still service the customer at the checkout stand instead of us scanning our own items. The store was clean inside and outside. I was in and out of here really quick as I was only asked to bring a six pack of beer for my friend to compliment the burgers he made. They had one worker lady when I came up to the registers that directed me to the shortest line. The cashier that checked my item was friendly and quick. I prefer to go to this Staters rather than the one closer to my home as my Staters is a bit slower and don't have as many cashiers when I go there. So kudos to this store! This is clearly a neighborhood "get you through a pinch" type of store. Very small and staff lacks getting anyone through checkout efficiently. I watched several teenagers taking their time as the lines were backing up and they didn't seem to have a clue (or didn't care). If you are in the area and need a place to do grocery shopping this would be my last choice based on the few times I've had to come here for stuff my regular store was out of. That said, I'd choose Vons (on Baseline road not too far away), Whole Foods or Trader Joe's (all within 10 min of each other). read more

Highly disappointed in this market. Your teens in the hot deli need to be retrained on customer service. The manage is also a little short nothing. I went in for a few items but stop by the hot deli to get just 4 pieces of fried chicken. The little girl who was assisting me said the price of $8.99 was only for the baked chicken. Okay but I asked for 4 pieces of fried chicken. She started giving me the price for the fries. I told her that I don't want fries just four pieces of fried chicken. I used to shop here often enough, about twice a month or on the way home as they're conveniently placed off 210 freeway. I took my brother there one night and the manager informed him that he cannot shop at the store anymore because he stole avocados. he did not. This manager was adamant that he stole 2 avocados while paying for 2, which is quite pathetic to accuse someone of doing. I asked for footage of the incident and of course, I never got phone call back because my brother grabbed 2 avocados and paid for 2 avocados. This person shouldn't be a manager. I lived behind this store for 6 years and used to come in several times a week. For the past year now I only come in once in while if I'm in the area since I no longer live right by it. Not much has changed with the staff. So unprofessional. They are more social with each other than you. I can't tell you how many conversations I've heard between employees about their drunken stories, cheating boyfriends, plans for the night, etc. Also you'll have 2 checkers talking to each other the whole time while they scan your items. It seems it's never work related. I understand small talk with each other but not in front of customers. These conversations I've heard are 90% at the check stands. I have lived in Upland for almost 20 years. This is our store! The Good The Bad and The ugly. We have had some really great employees in the past and we have had some not so great ones. The reason I got on today was because over the years they have had some less than desirable people working in the deli. So much so that we started buying prepackaged deli meat. My daughter took a liking to sandwiches once again and so I ventured back to the Deli only to find the most perfect person there. Her name is Tiffany. She is so pleasant, answers all your questions and even has some suggestions that were great. I just wanted to let you know that Tiffany is definitely a keeper. Adam was in the deli helping and he was great as well. All of the register employees and Baggers are always great. Keep up the good work. While shopping here I witnessed a manager speak so disrespectfully to another employee. 12/3/19 CHECK VIDEO TAPE IF THERE IS ONE FOR THIS TIME Kind the cashier accidentally scanned paper towels twice so she called for a manager as they needed to do a "turn over". Kim called once, called twice and then the assist manager IRIS was at check stand #1 know that Kim called for help yet she smiled and did nothing, her behavior was like a high school girl. Kim called again, and a manager called Kim on the phone and asked her what was going on and she explained that she needed a turnover and Iris won't leave the stand until someone takes her place. Meanwhile the line is backing up as they had one stand other than the express line open. You can see the time. Laps on the receipt and you can see the video of all of this. Once Iris came over I looked at her and said loudly, did you think we were all just hanging out. She replied, with clearly a LIE I didn't know you needed me. I said yes you did we all heard Kim tell you she needed a turnover. If this is what happen to Kim on a daily she should be filing a psych claim as this high school behavior by Iris is unacceptable. All you customers were waiting, Kim was waiting, I was waiting and Iris thinks this is a joke. She should immediately be taken out of that position as she is not mature enough to realize that the everyone is just trying to buy groceries and your employees are just trying to earn a paycheck yet Iris thinks that these games are ok. Stater Brothers do your own research on this situation, you have cameras, my receipt and your own employee Kim as evidence. In this day and age we should all value our jobs, clearly Iris does not and again, if Kim has to endure this type of treatment from Iris it is clearly a high stress environment that Iris is creating. read more

The best of the supermarket chains. Lowest prices, no phony friendliness. Good bones for dogs. Look for "soup bones" in the meat section at 79 cents a pound. Big bones that wouldn't splinter. Got a pet and on a budget? Look for "broken bags" of pet food in the closeout section. About half price. These are bags that were ripped and taped back together. Most supermarkets return them to manufacturer; Stater Bros sells them at a big discount. read more

Lazy worker at meat department. My daughter asked me to go with her to buy meat because the last time she went the guy at meat dept made a face when she asked for 6 lbs of meat. Really?!?? So here I go thinking maybe he was having a bad day. Today Saturday Dec 26, 2015 8pm we get to the meat department, different guy. My daughter asked for 10 lbs of meat. COULD NOT BELIEVE this guy rolled is eyes muttered something under his breath.. I asked him if he was having a bad day. He totally ignored me SO! I asked two more times. Louder each time.. He finally said "it's been slow" He should be grateful he has a job Oh another thing he was handled the meat with his bare hands. Didn't wash his hands, no gloves Ugh!!! So if you're living in San Bernardino, I'll give you a little tip with how I've noticed Stater Brothers are. The ones North of the 10 Freeway are better than the ones South of it, the ones furthest North of the 10 are better than the ones closer to it, the ones closest to the 210 are better than the others, and the ones North of the 210 are the best. Visit each Stater Brothers, starting from one North of the 210 all the down to the 60 and tell me I'm wrong. Anyway, this Stater Brothers is really nice, neat and clean. I've noticed my produce stays fresh a little longer (and sometimes, I have to take the fruit home and let it ripen a few days before it's ready). Ditto with the seafood and meat departments. The seafood I buy here rarely has that "fish" smell coming off it (like two or more day old seafood does). The meat I buy here rarely turns brown until a few days after it has been sitting in my fridge, which means no need to only buy what I need to cook that day/next few days. Their craft beer selection isn't as great as some of the other Stater Brothers, but, that makes sense since there is a liquor store next door that sells a good selection of that. The parking lot here is a death trap though. On two separate occasions, I almost got hit as a pedestrian walking in/out of the store! read more

I am very disappointed in Stater Bros this Thanksgiving season. On the Saturday before thanksgiving they didn't have any medium sized turkeys at all and the guy behind the meat counter said to blame the warehouse. No, I blame management. They didn't have any turkey wings. Again blame the warehouse i was told. No I blame management. They were completely out of French cut green beans and people were standing at the frozen veggie section just staring in disbelief. Blame the warehouse? No I blame management. So I left the store frustrated went to Vons in upland where I got my turkey and my green beans. Neither store had wings but sprouts is always careful to carry enough of those on thanksgiving. I'm new to the area.. actually live about a two minutes away. The meat department is friendly and helpful, thank you, but the clerks are snobby and NOT friendly. I contest all the other comments on how friendly this store is. Not true. Ps. I come from a background of management for 5 star establishments, either part of or working with the team. No eye contact; mumbling their responses to MY GREETINGS; Half glance to customers, etc. WEAK! This is a direct reflection of upper management and the lack, there of. Vons.. Ill start out by saying i have always gone to stater bros on mountain and foothill and love that store. My wife convinced me to try this store. It was a bad experience i start at the deli counter and i asked a question about the meat. Got a short answer but the little elderly lady next to me was trea tr ed very rudely. She couldn't find the chicken salad. She asked and the lady pointed at this plate and said its right there. The little old lady said she didn't see it cuz its behind the wrong label. The girl behind the counter stays silent and just stared at her. The lady said another that was met with more silence. Then as one girl weighed my meat the other girl just puts the salad right on there. I know i don't get charged for her stuff but she made a comment about like i don't want to pay for the mans stuff. The girl just stays silent gives her her salad and says anything else? Rude. Next i go to pay. I lay out my stuff by colds, boxed stuff then big stuff. Since the boy helping the cashier left to help the lady in front of me, there was no one to bag. There was no one behind me. Instead of bagging her self she starts pilling it up then toward the end she calls some kid over the speaker to come help. He runs up and says "im doing something in the back call someone else" and leaves! He ran all the way to the register and then left. What? Finally some other girl comes and helps. As their bagging. I am listening to the manager on duty talking crap about a customer.and how she's been watching her and waiting for her pants to fall.i wonder what they say about me as a walk through.
