The place was pretty empty for a Sunday morning and I should have questioned why. When I got my breakfast, parts of it were very hot and others were cold, like it had been microwaved. Had Valentine's Day brunch with the family here today. The food was totally fine, the omelettes wonderful and everyone liked what they ordered including hashbrowns and toast and coffee. The service was excellent, and the decor is very cute. It was a big crowd but they handled it well and we got our table and reasonable time. I would've given five stars but the French toast was not quite as fabulous as I was hoping for. Also, I would love if they had actual cream versus half-and-half. Will definitely go back here. I left this place very unhappy and angry. Not only did we have to wait 25 minutes outside to be seated, but we also had to wait another 25 minutes for our food. Yes, the place was busy but it's not an excuse. The staff was very jumbled and they seemed to forget what tables were their own. I ordered a bagel and cream cheese. A simple bagel and cream cheese. How do you screw up a bagel you ask? You toast it and let it sit out near a heat source so it gets soggy. And also, their bacon was the greasiest I've ever eaten. Not an exaggeration. The grease literally poured down the strip as I picked it up. I can get better quality food at dunkin donuts. And pay less and get more. Not coming back to this place when I'm in town again. I went in and ordered 2 grilled cheese with bacon sandwiches around 10am last week. What came out was one "slightly" larger size sandwich, with a good amount of bacon and a good amount of cheese. The sandwich was white bread. It was barely grilled, barely. The cheese was still in slice form (not even remotely melted) and the bacon was still oinking. After taking a few bites, i said to myself, i ordered 2, but glad i only got one. I mentioned that i don't need my second grilled cheese to the waitress and she said that my one sandwich was 2 sandwiches. HMMMM....very interesting concept! If you are going to have something as unusual as this, you should mention it up front. Waitress then informed me that people have complained about this before and they are going to change this. As long as they change this, then great there is transparency. If you sell 2 sandwiches make it look like 2 sandwiches. The waitress offered to make me another sandwich, and if the sandwich even remotely resembled a good grilled cheese then i would have taken her up on the offer, but it was disgusting. I don't think i would eat here again, but perhaps if they change their bread to regular standards and make a good GC, i would try it again. Give the place a try on your own and make your own judgement, they just need to adjust that business practice, and cook a grilled cheese right. read more

Meh is a perfect description of our experience here this past weekend. Arrived around 11 on Saturday and got a table within 5 minutes. Not bad. Too bad we waited for well over 30 minutes for our food without even a drink refill. And to top that off my food was cold when it finally made it to our table. I had a the Spanish omelet - peppers, onions, cheese and salsa. It was literally the flattest omelet I've ever had. Like paper thin with just a tiny little bit of fillings squished in the middle of eggs that had sat on the griddle a little too long. Home fries were really really greasy so I passed after a few bites. My partner in crime had his usual bacon, scrambled eggs, and French toast. He was generally satisfied but found the bacon to be really undercooked - which says something because he likes it not at all crisp. It was something different to try, but with high prices, mediocre food and a long wait I think I'll pass on a second try. read more

OK, I LOVE this place!!!! I went here years ago when I would do laundry at the laudromat in the plaza, when it was Fanny's. I never ate, but came in to get coffee. This past September, when my mother and I were looking for a place to go for breakfast when she was up to visit, I wanted to try this place as I had seen the name had changed a while back and realized I had never really even tried it as Fanny's. I am a very specific breakfast eater and this place has exactly what I am looking for! I LOVE HASBROWNS and no one up here really serves them (I am from FL) .. Station 5 Grille does!! I agree with other reviewers in regard to the service, in that I sometimes am disappointed, but if you get one of the regular wait staff, it is quite excellent. My fiance and I were excited to try out station 5 grille, but were told we'd have to leave our starbucks drinks at the counter. My fiance doesn't drink coffee so we wouldn't have ordered it there anyway. We promptly left - you would think that having people buy two meals would outweigh the fact that we weren't going to buy coffee there. It's amazing to watch how busy they are on the weekends, and how they cook all that food on those tiny grills!!! The decorations are incredible! I was most impressed with the fact that once a year all the firefighters from Natick volunteer their time to wait on customers and do the dishes and they donate their tips to a local charity! They came out with a brand new one, and this time after I took a bite I found myself eating eggs shells. After looking through the plate I pulled out 2 huge egg shells. holy suburbs! after moving from allston, walking into station 5 was a huge culture shock. the small restaurant was packed with tables of local families- if it wasn't owned by a fire fighter you'd think that many people would be a fire hazard! there were soccer moms, grammas, and kids running around in karate uniforms and the staff seemed to know them all by name. then as the customers filed through the door, it became apparent that everyone knew each other as well. they serve standard but tasty breakfast and lunch fare with healthy items and a kids menu- you'll find something to please everyone in the family- all for about $4-7. the staff was busy but still very friendly. there are plaques and fire station themed decor everywhere- a big hit with the kids. open for breakfast and lunch, cash only. station 5 is a friendly local business that you will want to support- i can't wait to go back and try the sweet potato pancakes! read more

The waitstaff here is incredibly rude. On two occasions I've gone there with friends and they've treat us like shit. Maybe because we are younger and artsy, where as everyone else is old and fartsy. Either way I won't be going here again. The food was fine, the coffee was gross, but I can tell you none of us enjoyed the way we were treated and won't be returning. The eggs are dried out, the hashbrowns taste like they are frozen, the bacon is not really cooked through and doesn't taste like much, the egg sandwiches are big but super greasy. I have lived in Natick for 16 years and have had many breakfasts at Station 5 and have been going there since it was Franny's. I think the fact that we go there is based on 2 things - 1) its the closest breakfast place to my house and 2) the food is consistent. Unfortunately, the food is consistently average. It is not even in my top 25 breakfast places but when the closest alternative is Dunkin Donuts and I don't feel like driving more than 5 minutes I end up at Station 5. I do like the family atmosphere and I get to say good morning to neighbors and friends. I also like the fact that they hire a bunch of Natick High School kids to work there. This place could be sooo much better if the cook really put the effort in, but the place is always crowded so I guess why bother. read more

The food is very good, the atmosphere is family friendly, the coffee is good and the Laundromat next door has free wifi.
