With long lines backing up to the door every time we go, we shouldn't need to describe how good the food is! Staff is amazing and efficient at getting orders made quickly. My favorite thing on the menu is their baked beans! I also loved getting to trY their brisket burger which was outstanding but unfortunately it's only offered for a limited time during the early day. My husband loves the brisket and potatoe salad. Love their bbq sauce choices and they have a good beer selections as well. This is our favorite place togo in downtown Plainfield and we loved how they kept decor themed with the history of the buildIng... a once firehouse! Line was out the door. We had been hearing about this place for a while. Weekend and a holiday might not have been the best choice, but it was delicious! We will have to try again earlier in the day so we could order the ribs! Brisket was great and the loaded baked potato was good too! We didn't care for the sauces being behind the counter so we didn't know to ask for it because they have signs on the wall stating it is by the drinks. Got there around 7pm and they had a line of about 15 people. After waiting a few minutes, a sign went up saying they were out of Brisket. Mark my words, the BEST bbq eatery you'll find in the Chicagoland burbs!!! The history behind this place is actually quite interesting, as it took the place of Plainfield's former firehouse. Anyway, 110% worth the 45-min drive from Geneva! What better time than to come at 3PM on a Tuesday (beating the dinner rush, obviously)? On that day, I decided to order my own sampler plate, where I ordered 1/4 lb of pulled pork and pastrami, a jalapeño cheddar link, and sides of elotes, broccoli slaw and pinto beans w/ pork belly. The pastrami had just the right balance of fat and tenderness and the elotes were not only great tasting, but also aesthetically pleasing! The pulled pork was smoked in-house (as all meats are at this place), which I could definitely tell from eating it. Well done! Slaw was tangy, crunchy and just a tad creamy with big, hearty florets of broccoli (don't pass this up!). I really wanted to like the beans (especially with the chunks of pork belly), but unfortunately was all just bland. Would not get again, but at least the texture and presentation were solid! In no way, however, does this deserve a one-star deduction, as everything else was just so outstanding!! Loved their mustard (which paired well with the link I had) and found their Georgia peach sauce to have a unique zing to it. Plus their made in-house pickles, need I say more? Every team member I interacted with was super friendly and service was very efficient. First time here. We got the sampler (Brisket, turkey, hot link, hot link w/cheddar and 3 sides) The brisket is melt in your mouth. The turkey has great flavor. The hot links were very good as well. Sides? Mac and cheese, Taylor tot casserole, and The Mexican Street Cart corn. A lot of times the sides at bbq places are extra add-ons and they don't always receive the attention they deserve. My only comment, not a complaint, is the pricing of certain items. Im all about businesses maximizing profits, lets face it...that was keeps them in business. Love this place! Finally tried it a few weeks ago with my husband. While the BBQ is solid, the sides are AMAZING! The Mac, corn, and corn bread were delicious!! I could honestly make a meal out of the sides! I also had the sweet potato beer, had a great flavor and the bartender was very friendly. Walking in I had high hopes for Station One Smokehouse. The patio was open with picnic tables and at the door were instruction for how to order. Decided on a half a pound of ribs, half pound of brisket, and a small Mac n' cheese. If you're like me and can't imagine what a half pound looks like, it's about 3 ribs, and 3 slices of brisket. Total was about $30. Anyways, I was hangry so I paused, but let my stomach do the math, and didn't question it too much. Food wise the ribs were okay. It didn't fall off the bone but was soft. The brisket was definitely the star, which was soft, flavored, and had a caramelized crust which added sweetness. The Mac was not worth it. I finished eating and I finally thought more about how much I paid. I checked prices on the board and realized it wasn't adding up. I get my receipt and see that I got charged more on the ribs and brisket than the $8.99 and $11.99 it should've cost. They told me that it was based on weight and that the meat was a little bit over half a pound. I only asked for half a pound, then shouldn't I only get charged for half a pound? I'm still irked on how the extra weight added an extra $4-$5 on my total bill. If anything, this should be advertised somewhere that the price will fluctuate based on weight. (currently it says that you can order in any weight which I read as if you want to order 10lbs of brisket then go ahead) Overall, I'm pretty disappointed and would probably only go back if I had hardcore craving for a $5 slice of brisket. 1 star for ambiance and 1 star for the brisket because it was pretty good. Much needed in my town I call home, Plainfield. The experience starts with probably the best facility a restaurant could want, the former Plainfield Fire house, Station 1. Great place to grab a drink too, the bar is always bustling and the staff is always friendly and attentive. The line is always long but it moves fast. This authentic style of BBQ culinary choice is not common in the Southwest Burbs, Station One stands alone; Quality of experience, drink and of course BBQ is second to none. Their meat is so flavorful and prepared expertly. I didn't even use bbq sauce for my dinner. So, let me rewind. I stopped in for lunch with my husband and was grateful that finally a place in downtown Plainfield has their own parking lot. I also liked that they recognize the history of the building and honor the Plainfield Fire Dept in a trendy and tacftful way. We took a seat at the bar and was impressed by the menu. It was had to choose between the crafted cocktails and the list of local brews that they had but I chose to go with the 2 Fools Cider and my husband had a manhattan. The bartender was incredible. She was attenative and made a crazy good manhattan. To order food, you have to go up to the food line so we ordered the poutine. Fries, white cheddar cheese curds, brown gravy, topped with choice of smoked meat. It was delicious!! For our meal my husband and I shared an order of the burnt brisket ends and the regular brisket. We also got a side of the corn bread and the pinto beans with pork belly. Everything was good although the beans weren't my favorite but the meat and corn bread was delicious. I love the atmosphere of the place. The entire front of the restaurant opens up and they have picnic tables out front for some outdoor seating. The bathroom was very clean. This place is amazing! Stumbled on it by accident. Was going to Mora Asian in downtown Plainfield to have lunch but when we got there they were already closed. Saw this place while heading back home and decided to try it. Their staff were pleasant and took time to help us with our order since it was our first time! I ordered a lb of rib tips while my husband order 3/4 lb of ribs with sides of Mac & cheese, Potato salad and cornbread. Everything was amazing do you hear me!! The ribs and rib tips were not over smothered by bbq sauce, it was cooked to perfection. It practically melts in your mouth, and the sides had seasoning and was very tasty. Big portions too!! Really liked the ambiance! And the staff were all very friendly. But the food itself just tasted like any other BBQ place in the area to us. I had the pulled pork and my husband had the chopped brisket. I tried the elote- which was amazing! My husband had the Mac & cheese and said it was just alright. $34 for 2 sandwiches, 1 small elote, 1 medium Mac, and 2 drinks. The spicy bbq sauce was tasty! The good: The bbq brisket was decent. The corn side was not bad, but it didn't wow me. The corn bread was strongly addictive and probably the best part of the meal. The bad. Price. I know good food isn't cheap, and I'm definitely willing to pay for some good culinary eats. However, there is a price point where one feels like they just spent a lot more for a meal than what it was worth. I wanted to like this place. I'm all about supporting restaurants that don't follow the typical cookie cutter, formulaic design. The inside has a neat look to it but I'm not going to a restaurant solely to soak in its ambience, I'm also going there for a meal. My new favorite bbq place around, the smoked pastrami is so good and the pork belly is the best ive ever eaten, the fat on the pork belly melted in my mouth. As far as the location and staff, very nice location plenty of area to sit inside and outside. what impressed me almost as much as the food was the staff. it was a very busy night and after waiting 10 minutes for my turn to order i expected to be rushed through but i was surprised that the guy cutting the meat took his time to offer suggestions the the groups in front of me and took his time to inspect the cuts of meat before he cut them for me, you could tell he was taking pride in his work. i also really liked the system that they have to weight the meat, each cut they reset the scale and charge to specifically what is being served, this was an unexpected surprise since a lot of other competitors seem to eyeball portions and often leave you wondering if you got less than you paid for. for the sides we tried the mac and cheese (very good), fries (average) and slice of corn bread (a bit too bread like for my taste, reminded me of a pancake). The bbq sauce was good but i ended up not using any of the sauces since the pork belly and pastrami was so good on their own. The only negative thing i have to say is that the rib tips left me very unimpressed, this is the cheapest meat item on their menu and was not on the same level of quality as all the other meat items on their menu, if i would have come in and just ordered the ribtips i would have likely not returned ever, a friend also has had the riptips on different occasion and was not impressed and was hesitant to return until i insisted they return and try different items on menu. read more
