Ate here twice while in the area on vacation. The food and service are much better than the dated atmosphere and second hand smoke inside would initially indicate. The server (guy) was excellent and knew the menu. The shrimp Caesar was good, and the grilled trout dinner in lemon pepper sauce was wonderful - very fresh and not dry. Other members of my party enjoyed the burgers and French onion soup. The mashed potatoes are the real deal. Main downside is ugly dining room & value - costs more than most comparable restaurants. While in Bryson to take take my nephew to the Polar Express Train, I decided to eat with the family at the Station Restaurant. The waitress was nice and service was OK. The food on the other hand was very disappointing. Ordered the French Onion Soup. When it came out the crock pot was warm and the soup was barely warm. French Onion Soup should have a Golden Brown layer of cheese. I think they put one slice of cheese over the top melted it beyond recognition and served it with crackers on the side. I also ordered a Bacon Cheese Burger. The burger looked like it was thrown in with the charcoal, bacon was burnt. Cooked well done beyond recognition. Bun was cold and served on a plastic plate. When I asked for ketchup and mayo the girl brought out packets like you would get at Burger King........ I would have killed for a whopper! Ate dinner at this restaurant the end of July 2013. At that time their cc machine was broken we were told, we'd have to pay with cash but they have an atm in the restaurant for their patrons convenience so we could get cash there. OK, a bit odd but we decided to go ahead and eat there. well of course between the atm fees on both ends, it cost us an extra $5 to eat there! The service was good as was the food, but the other odd thing was since we were enjoying adult beverages with our meal, when we asked for a 2nd round, we were told we had to finish the first round completely before they would serve us a 2nd round! HUH? never ran into that before! so of course by the time we got our 2nd round of drinks we really could have done without them. So, since there are other choices, we skipped dining there during our 2nd visit to the area. read more

Long wait but that is because it is a very small restaurant and the train was running. The servers did the best they could being short staffed, but the quality of the food was poor. I had a burger that was burnt and charred, no flavor. A friend of mine ordered a chicken sandwich and the chicken breast had been cut in half lengthwise and she only got the top part...it was just weird. read more

Arrived early before taking the train ride. The good: the staff, prices, open face roast beef sandwich, and the Reuben. The walls contain some wonderful photography that's worth a few extra minutes of your time. The bad: hard chairs and the worst Philly Cheesesteak on the planet. Terrible. The waitress was not very friendly. It took forever to get our drinks. We never got refills during the 40+ minutes it took to get our food. The waitress, looking at our empty glasses, said "can I get you anything else?" We asked for sour cream and refills. She came back about 3 minutes later with sour cream and no refills. It took another 5 or so minutes after that to get our refills. On top of that, the food was terrible. We should have known better when the lady who sat us recommended the corn dog. Actually, that was the only thing that was good. My other kid got spaghetti and said it had crunchy parts to it (uncooked pasta). I had the quesadilla, which was made with raw red onions and cheese wiz. It was also way overpriced for what amounts to crappy and cheap bar food. read more

Loved this place. Was visiting from Fort Lauderdale with some friends and stopped for lunch. The service we received from "Bobby" was top notch. She was very pleasant and attentive. And the food was extremely tasty, as well. I had the Reuben. It was delicious. We will be back. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone. read more

We stopped in after riding the Polar Express train ride. There was a good crowd but we didn't have to wait on a table or anything. The server acted as if there was a line out the door and down the next block. The first half of our time there was nice. We got our drinks and food ordered without a problem. Then it went down hill from there. I ordered the "Sizzling Ribeye." I had seen it at other tables and it looked like a 16-18oz steak for $17... GOOD DEAL! Wrong! The sizzling is the troublesome part. It sizzles not because they use a hot skillet on the meat, it's because they pour on extra grease to continue the sizzle. The steak was sitting in a pool of grease and it was popping so bad that it was burning my bare forearm whenever I got near the plate. By the time the grease cooled and you were able to get near your plate the steak was charred and overcooked! On top of a charred and overcooked steak, it was bland! The baked potato was also... you guessed it, bland. The beer however was good and COLD! That was the only good part however. My son ordered spaghetti... the noodles were overcooked to mush and the sauce was straight from a can. When I brought this to my waitresses attention she went from nice and pleasant to cold and abrasive. She said the popping was from an au jus sauce... I showed her the container of grease I had poured off my plate and said, au jus usually isn't clear and normally doesn't look like grease. Her reply was, "hmmm." I asked for the check and after waiting 30 minutes for the check I had to get up, track her down near the kitchen and escort her to get our check so she wouldn't blow us off again. We paid, left and won't be back. This place has SOOO much potential, they just need someone who knows the industry and how to season meat to step in and take the reigns! You could take this place from a 1 star to a 5 star so quick! read more

Ho hum. The food was edible but nothing to get excited about. The restaurant is dingy and smells like smoke (although they claim to be nonsmoking, perhaps it is residual smoke). We opted to sit outside. After we were settled in and had ordered our food they informed us that their credit card machine doesn't work. But we could use their ATM in their back room (which charges a $3 fee). Very convenient. The menu says that a fountain drink is included with the kids meals. I am not thrilled about giving children sodas, but fruit punch was one of the choices, so I had plans to water it down and cut the sugar content some. Unfortunately, the fruit punch was also not working. But not to worry, we had the opportunity to buy apple juice for an extra $2 each instead. We left feeling very ripped off and disappointed. The restaurant is in a great location (next to the train station) and has all sorts of ribbons for "Best Food 1986" etc. Perhaps its time for a make-over/management change. read more

Do NOT go here! The service was horrific and the server basically tricked us into thinking the sandwiches came with a side. We soon learned that was not the case when got bill. The owners were hateful when we raised the issue with them and after paying as we walked out the man followed us informing us where all the fast food places were in town. The next day i checked my bank acct only to see that they had charged me more than authorized. Whatever you do, DONT waste your time here. read more

Oh my god. I can not believe how terrible this place was. I mean really. My boyfriend and I were visiting with family around the area to go tubing and wanted to have a bite to eat. We stopped in one of the only places that was open. We came in it smelled like ammonia and stale fries. Our server was timid and didn't really know what to say to us. We ordered the onion rings, the roast beef sandwich and some sort of california wrap. The onion rings were pretty good but everything else was a joke! I took two bites of my wrap and had to push it away! Even though I was starving from the drive. It was box yellow rice, tyson's chicken (which was cold in the middle), and some pre-made guac. wrapped in a stale flour tortilla. My boyfriend didn't like his food either, said it was tasteless and he couldn't stomach anymore. I asked the server to bring the bill and she did. $30 for this crap! I put a ten dollar bill in there, wrote a little note to the server on the receipt saying to keep the change, ($4 tip) for the onion rings and waters and started to walk out the door. Barely 10 feet out of the restaurant and here comes this livid old man cussing and yelling at us telling us to "PAY UP". I replied with a "no" and a very valid reason why I wouldn't pay that kind of money for food that I wouldn't even feed my dog. The man continued to say that I didn't know what good food is and called the cops. Even though I work at a fine dining restaurant and know exactly what exceptional food is, not that I expected anything of the sort at this dinky little joint. He said "OH YEAH RIGHT YOU MEAN MCDONALDS". I was tempted to say I would have rather eaten there. I patiently waited for the authority, still while the old man is yelling. When the cops arrived they asked what happened, I told them. They were very understanding. I finally complied to pay the full bill. After I did this, I apologized to the poor little waitress who didn't seem to understand what was happening and on the verge of tears. Upon walking to my car the cops said "This has happened many times before, the food is horrible there..". We laughed and continued on our way feeling extremely ripped off and STILL HUNGRY! read more
