Great family owned sandwich shop in McCall ID. Excellent handmade sandwiches with homemade baked bread that taste great. The servings were a healthy size. My wife and I only ate half of our sandwiches and saved the rest for another meal. I had the roast beef sandwich and it was excellent. Next time in town I will stop by again. read more

This place rocks! Great value and a unique yet classic taste. Pro tip: get 'The Vandal,' it's amazing! We also tried their Ruben and it was solid too (but the vandal is next level). This place is absolutely incredible. The staff was so friendly and walked us through the entire menu. Told us the most popular selections but then told us what each of us would like based on our interests. The sandwiches were delicious! We're from out of town and will definitely miss this place. The 4 of us ordered: the Holiday (sourdough bread), the bacon rancher (sourdough bread), the vandal (sourdough bread), grilled cheese added turkey (sour dough bread). The food came so fast and then they brought us out fresh home made strawberry lemonade. Highly recommend, again it's incredible and was exactly what we wanted. I've never been a "hey, let's go get sandwich" person. The Vandal changed that. It is actually hard for me to drive by Stax and not stop. Mind you, it's probably 1000 calories, (of buttery, meaty, cheesy deliciousness) but so worth it. Hey, you're on vacation! Nevermind the calories, just stop in and order a Vandal. We drove up to McCall for a nice weekend before our baby is born. My husband and I are fans of sandwiches and based on the other reviews, decided to give them a try. Stax is a small diner like shop with a tiny kitchen where the sandwiches are made. Our wait time was 30 minutes but it was worth it. I had the mushroom and swiss regular size which was very large and my husband had the vandal sandwich. The quality of the meat is very high as well as the cheeses they use. The bread is excellent and fresh. Service is admirable for being so small and so busy! Great Job! read more

Homemade bread, homeade soup - how can you go wrong. The line was out the door which is always a good sign. The homemade bread is huge - so sharing a sandwich gave us plenty. The only suggestion I would give is, because the bread is so thick, I would put more cheese on the grilled cheese. The tomato basil soup was excellent! read more

Great little find in McCall. We stopped in while passing through on our way to Boise. My husband enjoyed the Skinny Tinney which was ample with veggies. Y'ALL I am incredibly satisfied! My meal was SO GOOD I can't get over it. First of all, there was a huge line as we came at the height of lunch hour, but we ordered our food and had it at our table all in less than 15 minutes.
