The restaurant is located upstairs at the Pacific City shopping mall on PCH and has an excellent view of the Huntington Beach coastline. There is plenty of parking in the underground garage, and the restaurant will validate parking for two hours. Reservations can be made on OpenTable. There are two dining areas facing the beach, one with an open air covered area, and one completely inside with floor to ceiling windows. We wanted to enjoy the fresh air, and were seated on the open air patio, right against the front overlooking PCH. They also have a bar area inside. The ladies had the mocktail versions of the pineapple guava margarita and Life is Peachy ($9 each) and enjoyed them. I just had an iced tea which was constantly topped off. I had the pan seared halibut ($42) with broccolini and requested asparagus instead of the default second side of potatoes. The halibut was cooked perfectly with almond slices and cubed tomato on top. The lemon caper butter sauce was sooooooo good, and there was a lot of it to dip the fish and veggies in. The veggies were slightly overcooked, but were still very good, especially with the sauce. Both ladies had the grilled salmon ($32). My girlfriend requested a side salad with blue cheese and the pineapple risotto instead of the default brussel sprouts. Both entrees were enjoyed. We appreciated the manager bringing the birthday girl a complementary Brookie (baked brownie & cookie mix, vanilla ice cream, chocolate sauce) which we all shared. Our server Zane was attentive and friendly. The food and drinks were very good, and the prices were reasonable given the view and location. We would definitely return.

I'm really disappointed to have to update my review after our latest experience at The Brant…read more Unfortunately, the lack of hospitality we experienced this time was incredibly disappointing from the moment we arrived. We brought my stepdad, who was in a wheelchair, and when we entered, there were two young women working at the front. Despite clearly seeing us trying to navigate the entrance with his wheelchair, neither offered to help with the door. We literally had to ask them to assist us. Something as simple as holding the door for a guest in a wheelchair should be basic hospitality and common courtesy. Unfortunately, the experience did not improve once we sat down at the bar. Our bartender, Viviana/Vidiana, essentially ignored us. My stepdad ordered a glass of Chardonnay, and she clearly heard his order. Rather than acknowledging him or getting his drink, she continued talking to another couple at the bar about how she couldn't wait to be off work. She then walked away, said something quietly to the bartender coming on shift about my stepdad wanting a Chardonnay, grabbed her purse, and left. There was no "Someone else will be taking care of you," no acknowledgment of his order, no goodbye -- nothing. It honestly came across as incredibly rude and dismissive. What bothered me most wasn't having to wait for a glass of wine; it was the complete lack of warmth, attentiveness, and basic hospitality throughout the experience. When you are bringing a family member who uses a wheelchair somewhere, you already have additional things to navigate. Having staff make you feel like an inconvenience rather than welcomed guests makes the experience that much worse. We have enjoyed The Brant before, which is why this visit was especially disappointing. Hospitality is about making people feel welcome and cared for, and unfortunately, that was completely missing during our latest visit.

Stopped in on March 28 for what should have been the easiest order in the building: 2 black coffees & 1 bagel sandwich. We arrived before about five other families. Somehow, every single group that came after us received their specialty drinks, açaí bowls, and food... and most of them finished and left... before we got anything. Two black coffees. No foam art. No oat milk. No fluff n puff. Just coffee. After waiting way too long, I finally asked what was going on. That's when they casually mentioned they had to brew a new pot. Good to know... eventually. A simple heads-up or apology would have gone a long way. There were about six employees behind the counter, which made the whole situation even more confusing. It felt less like a rush issue and more like a "no one is driving the bus" issue. As for the food, coffee: not great, tasted watered down. Maybe they used the same grounds twice. . "Ick" is the technical term. Bagel sandwich: actually very good. Everything bagel with egg, cheese, and sausage. Flavorful. Would have been even better if it were warmer than room temperature. At that point, I wasn't even picky. I just wanted to receive the order I paid for sometime before retirement. For comparison, the 602 Coffee House (PCH location) runs much smoother. Either their team is sharper or the system is just better built. Busy, but efficient. Bottom line, good food potential. Consistently slow, inattentive service I want to like this place. But right now, ordering two black coffees feels like submitting a special request to NASA. Hope that helps.

Everything tastes fresh, the coffee is brewed well with a nice, balanced blend, and the ingredients speak for themselves. The staff has always been friendly, and the atmosphere is relaxed. I even thought, "That bite better be flavorful." It absolutely was. Every bite was packed with flavor, and you can tell they don't cut corners on quality. I think it's important to remember that a scratch kitchen using organic, gluten-free, and non-dairy ingredients is operating with much higher food costs than places using generic products--especially with today's inflation. I'd rather have quality ingredients and great flavor than an oversized burrito that's just average. The only complaint I have isn't even about the café. I came in today with a gift card that originally belonged to my aunt, who has since passed away. We found the gift card while going through her belongings after she passed, and I was trying to use the remaining balance. The owner told me that she needed to see the original email and wasn't sure if she could accept it. I explained that the gift card had been accepted the last time I used it and that they had simply typed in the gift card number. I also explained that I obviously didn't have the original email because it belonged to my aunt. The interaction made me feel as though I was being questioned about whether the gift card was legitimate or as though I was somehow trying to use something that wasn't mine. She then said that the gift card didn't even say Sweet Elle on it, only to look at the bottom and say, essentially, "nevermind, it says it right here." It was the way the situation was handled that really bothered me. I've also personally witnessed the owner being rude to her staff on multiple occasions, so this unfortunately didn't feel like an isolated interaction. I understand that businesses have policies and need to protect themselves, but there is a respectful way to handle situations like this, especially when a customer is simply trying to use a gift card that was legitimately given to them. It's especially disappointing because I have a substantial remaining balance on this gift card and genuinely enjoy their coffee. Unfortunately, after this interaction, I no longer feel comfortable supporting a business where I've felt this level of disrespect as a customer and have witnessed staff being treated poorly. I hope Sweet Elle takes a closer look at how these interactions are handled, because the coffee may be great, but the way customers and employees are treated matters just as much.
