It wasn't the best cup of coffee I've ever had, but it was good enough that if I were in the area, I wouldn't mind stopping back in. It was a solid cup for the day--nothing that blew me away, but nothing that would keep me from ordering again either. Ambiance -- 2/5 Stars The ambiance here initially gave me very much Plain Jane. I could definitely see this being a good place to meet someone for a conversation, pull out your laptop, or just sit and get some work done. It doesn't really have that super curated, "Instagrammable" feel that a lot of coffee shops are going for right now--but the more I thought about it, maybe that's part of the appeal. Sometimes a place doesn't need to be Instagrammable. Sometimes it can simply exist as a nice place to sit, have some coffee, and be. And actually...I kind of like that. Service -- 5/5 Stars The two guys working when we stopped in were both very nice. The guy who took our order even made an attempt at a little small talk, and surprisingly, it didn't land as annoying . It genuinely felt like he was just being kind and welcoming. Tried to go in a Saturday during business hours and it was closed. And no signs on the door saying why. Was a 30 min drive each way up . Ended up back up there today and asked why they were closed with no notice to customers. The guys shrugged and said "we just closed early " Menu was bare bones. Steady Coffee is a brand-new spot for me and I'm so glad I discovered it. The space is beautiful, bright, and extremely clean. You can tell they take pride in keeping everything neat and welcoming. The pastry display was fully stocked with tempting treats, which made it very hard not to grab one (or three). We tried the Cold Brew and the Iced Dirty Chai (I added one shot of espresso to mine), and both were prepared perfectly. The cold brew was smooth and refreshing, and the dirty chai had that great balance of warm spice and bold espresso that hits just right. Everything tasted fresh, well-crafted, and full of flavor. What makes it even better is that this spot is close to where I live, so it's officially going into my regular coffee rotation. If you're looking for a clean, cozy, and high-quality coffee shop with great drinks and pastries, Steady Coffee is absolutely worth a visit. read more

First time at Steady Coffee and it won't be my last. Stopped by today on a Too Good to Go pick up and sampled a selection of their baked goods. The staff were very attentive and polite to everyone. My order was ready immediately. They gave it to me with a sense of pride, and for good reason, everything was great. More on that later. The inside is clean, minimalistic, very zen. A great place to enjoy coffee with friends or do some work. There is seating both inside and outside if you're looking for a cafe experience. First, the cinnamon roll. Just fantastic! Good base with just the right amount of sweetness and cinnamon. The frosting, sweet, but not overwhelming. The lemon kolache...amazing, perfect combination of tangy and sweet. A next level danish. Finally, the most unique, elevated sausage, egg and cheese sandwich I've had. The sausage is part of the top which is a great touch. The cheese is likewise strewn throughout the delicious roll. Finally, a perfectly square egg. It's breakfast as art really and tastes as great as it looks. I can only imagine how great the coffee is and I'll be back to try it. If you're in the Avondale/Ortega area, this needs to be your coffee and baked goods stop. You'll be glad you did. read more

Had the pleasure of visiting twice while I was in town. I was impressed on my second visit when they remembered me. To me, that speaks volume of a shop. They really love what they do. The vibes were what I look for in a coffee shop. There were people inside and outside both times I came, which means people like spending time here. Customers and the workers were all chatting and catching up. The baristas even bring your drink out to you, the little touch makes you feel hosted and welcomed. Each time our drinks were 10/10. The cardamom flavor here is spot on. It's beautiful to drink. Their pastries were so good. I took one sip of my cappuccino and was impressed with the quality of espresso. I couldn't recommend this shop enough. It will be my go to recommendation for coffee in the area when my co workers visit and it will be my frequent stop while in town. Meowza! I love this place!! I stopped in with a friend who was checking it off her coffee pass. I enjoyed a super yummy Maple Cardamom shaken cold brew and a chocolate chip cookie. What a delicious coffee beverage! The Service was very positive and they were patient with me as I was not familiar with the menu or their seasonal options. The cookie was also a really nice sweet and salty mix. The space was great as my friend and I were stopping in to get some social media and art work done before we ran errands. The warm apple cider essence shines through beautifully, blended with hints of brown sugar, nutmeg, cloves, and cinnamon. If rum extract was part of the recipe, it was subtle enough to stay in the background. From the first sip, it felt like the perfect nod to the fall season. The vibes are very nice and calming in the shop! They have a great selection of coffees and teas, but I opted to get breakfast instead. I got the jalapeño sausage, egg, and cheese kolache per my friend's recommendation and it was pretty good! Nothing too crazy. I was in a breakfast sandwich mood, and it didn't have that hearty bite I was craving, like there wasn't much inside of it. Still it was a nice level of spice and something different! Stopped in after making a visit to Chamblin. There were a lot of people at the tables working or chatting, or knitting. It was clean and bright. The barista was super friendly and asked about my day is if I had plans. I told him how we were doing a coffee shop tour and asked what other sports around town we should check out. He gave a few that we had never heard of. His level of service was above and beyond. I ordered an iced matcha latte and my husband got an iced cortado.We took it to go. Steady is a coffee shop I've never even heard of and we found it randomly. It's in a very good location in a mini shopping center with other businesses. The inside is very clean and spacious with various types of seating. They even have a high chair for children. That was a plus for our little one. It was very loud which was the only downside. But the employees apologized saying it usually isn't like that. There were a ton of people for some reason, all in the back of the place and they were loud. This was around 8:30am on a Saturday. The employees are very nice here and they get to know you on a first name basis. They're extremely sociable and friendly. The menu is perfect with various types of coffees, seasonal coffees. I had a cappucino with simple syrup and almond milk. Wife had latte with vanilla and almond milk. Both were excellent. Perfect balance of flavor and coffee. They serve house made syrups. We tried the sausage egg and cheese sandwich and the blueberry muffin. The sandwich was fantastic. The muffin was pretty good but not the best we've had. The texture was different. Almost not as soft and fluffy like we typically have in other muffins. Overall this place is excellent, simply one of the best coffee shops in Jax despite how new it is. read more

Stopped by this new shop close to Avondale today for an afternoon cup of coffee and a good book. Located in a strip mall, the parking lot is a little small but I lucked into a spot in front of the shop. Upon entry, I reviewed the menu while I waited to a soccer mom to explain her problems with allergies to the barista. Once I was able to order, I ordered a drip coffee in a mug (fun fact an Americano is the same price - most places charge more). I was directed to a table by the counter for cream and a cup of water. Coffee comes in a great mug (see pic). I then grabbed a table in the corner in the back of the store. The table was clean and the chair comfy. The overheard music was pleasant but the volume changed depending on the song. My coffee was more of a medium to light roast, not my fave but still a good cup of coffee. Great place for an afternoon cup of coffee. read more

What a great addition to the neighborhood! The coffee is excellent. The baked goods are consistently delicious. The prices are right - you can definitely walk out without spending nearly as much as some of the other local spots. And the service is lovely. The owners are such nice people, they always have a friendly word. There is usually plenty of space inside to sit down if you like. Only downside is the parking lot, where often in the morning you're dodging trucks delivering beer to Harpoon Louie. So glad to have Steady Coffee in Avondale! read more

I saw signs for this new coffee shop on Herschel St (in the same plaza as Harps) and made a mental note to try it one of these days (especially after seeing them highlighted on social media). Well that day was this week. After the drive thru for a local chain coffee place was out into the street (IYKYK ugh) I decided to forgo collecting some stars and try Steady Coffee. Walking in, it was a clean, basic, no-fuss coffee shop with NOT basic coffee. The coffee was good and STRONG- a must for this mom on the go! I tried an iced latte and added lavender syrup and oat milk- YUM. I ended up coming back the very next day to try their iced matcha- another delicious drink! I wish I got a pic of the menu but all of your different kinds of coffee drinks, chai, and matcha are available. The baristas who rang me up both days were super sweet and conversational/genuinely interested in how my day was going and what I was up to. This is a much-welcome coffee shop to the Fairfax/Avondale neighborhood and I hope to see them stay! They also have some tables inside and I saw customers on laptops- I'd imagine this is the perfect place to recharge while typing a paper or working from home. Doing a Yelp deep dive, looks like they used to be a coffee truck in San Marco, in the little courtyard near Mayday Ice Cream.
