We waited for over 25 minutes before we were given water. We ordered a cheeseburger and bacon cheeseburger, both with no mustard. When the bacon cheeseburger showed up with mustard, the waitress took it and then brought a burger with no mustard or bacon. Each time the waitress brought food or drinks, my son asked for thousand island dressing. After bringing my wife a plate of bacon to add to her cheeseburgers, she brought the thousand island. 50 minutes after entering the nearly empty restaurant, we had our food, and half melted milkshakes with no straws or spoons for them. When I went to checkout, our coupons were not entered correctly and we ended up being overcharged to add insult to injury. Update: visited again, cannot say it's much better. McDonald's milkshakes aren't even worth pursuing because they're nasty. Stopped in at 10pm for a bite after a long day of flying from Sacramento to Atlanta. Ordered the veggie melt with no cheese, fries and a diet coke. Service was a bit scattered but probably because the place was busy. Veggie melt was supposed to be guacamole, lettuce, tomatoes, onions and portobello mushriooms. It was missing the mushrooms when it arrived. Took a while before I could get someone's attention. They eventually brought a small cup of mushrooms out to put on the sandwich. They looked like regular mushrooms that you would put on a steak, not portobellos, which are larger. Fries were skinny but freshly made and crispy. If I could give 0 stars, I would. I come here often because it is close to my house. I like the food and certainly don't keep coming back for the service. If you come at night, you usually wait at least 10-15 minutes before your acknowledged in the drive-thru and another 15 minutes in line/to get your food. I've never had an employee at this location smile at me or even have the most basic of common courtesy when greeting a customer. They seriously act like you are bothering them for existing. Today, I went by to grab lunch before work. The man who took my money was rude and acted like he would rather be anywhere else in the world. I ordered and received my food and went to park to eat it. I found matted hair in my fries. Like black and blonde hair matted together. I could have thrown up right then. Most everyone knows Steak n Shake and their food. So this rating is based upon the worst SnS food and the best SnS food you've ever had. Seriously, I've never had a bad meal in all my time of eating at different SnS resturants over the years. But the one I had today at the North Point location was deplorable. Time was 11:30am, so the food should have been fresh. Order two combos, a Frisco Melt and a Double cheeseburger. The pencil fries were poor, but more importantly, both of the sandwiches were not good at all. My wife and I did not even finish half of the sandwiches. They seemed old and dry... No. Just no. I usually love steak and shake for late night food (that or waffle house), and I expected nothing different this particular night. But THIS particular steak and shake.... just wow. Horrible, just horrible, service. Me and my friend were here last night, it wasn't even that late, around 1130 12. Either way, I was not pleased. I asked for the 3.99 meal that comes with cheese fries and a double cheeseburger. I had specifically asked for no tomatoes, ketchup, or mustard, and clarified because I really dislike them. And yet I got mustard, and a damn good bit of it, not to mention my fries didn't have any cheese on them. Also, my friend ordered a single cheeseburger, with no onions, and of course, when it came it had onions. So okay maybe our waiter messed up right? So me and my date are ready to head out, and I keep looking over at the counter and our waiter, and she just doesn't seem to get that I need the check. So much so that I just decide I'm done here and go to the counter and have to ask for it myself. I was so tempted to write the fact that BOTH our orders had been wrong on the check. Steak n shakes are notorious for being slow and bad food. But this location is the only one that has exceed my expectations. I only order chicken tenders or a garlic double steak burger. Every time I come (about once a week) the chicken tenders are just made and hot and fresh. Any other location they're usually luke warm and you can tell they were made in advance. It's fast food. It's mainly burgers (steak burgers), but a tasty variety of them. The shoestring super-thin fries are a refreshing break from the fatter kind served elsewhere. They're open late and also serve breakfast - tasty pancakes. I would say their claim to fame would have to be their milkshakes which are offered in a dozen flavors. Time & Date of visit: Sunday, 8/31/2014 Party Size: 4 Location/Ambiance: It seems that most Steak n Shake location's I've visited around the Atlanta area are usually understaffed I think. This location is no exception. The servers would greatly appreciate some bus boys to clear the tables upon entering and glancing around the restaurant trying to judge how long of a wait you would have. It seemed pretty busy, about half packed with a short line of people doing take out at the register and a couple of cars in the drive through for a Sunday night. Service: Our server, Owens, seem pretty busy juggling his tables and manning the register but was still attentive for our table. There wasn't a problem to flag him down as he passed by for any refills. He was also smart to give us a pitcher of coke as three of us ordered a glass and didn't mind refilling it ourselves. I think everyone dining here or getting food to go, should have the expectations that the food is cooked to order. Granted there is room for improvement I believe. I also noticed that the manager was helping out on the grill most of the night. Maybe a few part timers as bus boys and food runners could help out the pacing for the weekends. Our server was polite and friendly, especially when we asked for the check to be split three ways. Food/Beverages: *Frisco Melt: My "usual", the sauces, buttery toast, & american and swiss cheese seems to come together well. The shoe string fries weren't seasoned which I appreciate as I actually like using their cajun seasoning in my ketchup instead. Also, the fries weren't the least bit greasy. At least that's a plus for a burger place. * Butterfinger milk shake: A bit rich on the milkshake itself with bits of butterfinger crumbled throughout the entire glass. I found that bits of the butterfinger would clog up the straw, I think it's best to just eat it like soft serve ice cream. Or maybe bring a boba tea straw with you, the normal straws won't get you any where. Be prepared to be asked where you got that from though. Tip: I don't really use coupons, but hey why waste paper. The coupons that are sent in the mail can actually be used per check when you pay up front. BOGO milkshakes? Yes please. Total Bill w/ Tip & Tax: $23.31. Two entrees w/ two soft drinks and a milk shake. Summary: Depending on the time of day, service is usually a hit or miss like other locations. Daughter was attacked by ants crawling all over the booth and waiter delivered a "to go" container that appeared to be used with food crumbs inside. Disgusting. Manager could only tell me that exterminator was there a few days ago. I had to ask for the meal to be comped because my kids were so disgusted with the dirty floor, booths and tables and the ants! This is a corporate store. Exterminate or terminate the manager or the person who didn't train him. We'll be hard pressed to return until we see a "Under New management" sign. read more

If I could give this place a zero. I would. My friends and I came here at about 1am after hanging at andretti's. We were seated immediately. Cool. Here comes the crappy part. We waited 30 minutes for waters. One that never came. My friend ordered a milkshake which ended up being pure milk. Our waitress is super rude. Another waitress is currently arguing with a cook which probably explains why we've been waiting about an hour after ordering to eat. Terrible service. Terrible food. Just terrible. Been here for breakfast a number of times. The food is fairly good for the price and the service was friendly and prompt. My problem was that The restaurant was filthy. The floors, the door coming in and out, but mostly the bathroom. How can you have a bathroom with that dirty in a restaurant? And if what I see is that dirty, it makes me worry for what I can't see in the kitchen. There was even crap on the stall wall. After today, I'm no longer coming back. Service: Although the establishment was bustling with people, the waiters were very attentive and cheerful.My food order was taken promptly and my drink glass was always kept full. Food: The food was very simple but also very good and well prepared. The food is "made to order" so you can bet on your food always being fresh and hot. I had a bacon cheese burger and fries. The fries and burgers are smaller than you are probably used to,so if you're very hungry or have a large appetite I would recommend getting a double meat or even triple meat burger. Steak N Shake also serves chicken fingers,onion rings,and even salads. As far as the drinks are concerned,Steak N Shake serves a variety of Coca Cola products and a variety of tasty(simple) milkshakes. Atmosphere/Cleanliness: The atmosphere of Steak N Shake reminded me of a restaurant I would see in the movie Grease.It was very 60's with a modern twist.The restaurant also felt very family friendly which was nice. I had no problem with the cleanliness.My booth was very clean when I sat down.The restrooms were also in very good shape for a place with so many customers which was great. Price: The prices were very affordable(for the most part). When you sit down at your table or booth, there is a paper menu with about 5 or so entrees under $4.00.My meal was chosen from that piece of paper.
