It's crazy because the food was actually really good, but I was not impressed at all with the service. Family and I went here closer to 11pm on a weekday after an event and there were maybe 4 tables when we came. The server was good, but they had him working the entire floor, running the cash register and flipping burgers while there were 3 other employees in the back and 1 manager not pulling equivalent weight. There was a period where I was trying to get my check and the manager just neglected the register, counting inventory and not even looking my way. The girl on the grill had no more incoming orders so after socializing for a few mins, she makes her way to the register to take someone's order, meanwhile I still cant get checked out. I am noticing a pattern but whatever,....... the food was good and the price point is good when you have a 4 person party. Went for the shakes, stayed for the burgers. I like their burgers better than most other fast food. You can tell the meat is real and not stuffed with filler. The bun is toasted and you get to pick from a list of toppings. They have shoestring fries that are usually gone by the time you get home. The onion rings are good too. The one problem I have with this place is that the service is inconsistent. It can go from pretty good, to extremely rude. But overall, the experience is better than most fast food. But even so they still greeted us immediately when we walked in and seated us a couple minutes to seat us. This place has messed up my order, given me the wrong order and has very slow service. Recently they closed the inside early apparently, and had several teenage children standing in the drive thru trying to order.. like seriously?? Me and the person in front of me backed up and left. When I went here with my boyfriend, it was after midnight and we were the only sit down customers inside. It took forever to get our drinks. they never brought out my boyfriends grilled cheese or my side of fries. But they brought out my salad. The togo orders at the counter kept getting completed. This area is... something. My class and I were going out for lunch and all orders were placed at least 40 minutes before we got there. We were even there a few minutes after the scheduled time. The employees said all the food would be ready when we got there, and it never happened. We waited almost an hour to get everyone's food together, and we got an order wrong three times. The patties were also tossed on top of a very nasty counter. The person who served us first did not have the best attitude, and we ended up late for our classes. And once we left, someone had also gotten their order wrong. The service was slow, the floors were greasy, and everyone there was upset. There were only 4 people dining there (excluding my class), and the service was extremely slow. Even a staff of 2 snails could make and deliver the CORRECT food faster than whoever was back there. Please clean the area more thoroughly, and hire employees that are happy to be at work and are quick and efficient; the employees my teacher dealt with were none of the above. Though everytime I come in, the climate is too cold, the servers are usually pleasant. Today's experience however was not acceptable. First, there were two things I tried to order on the menu that wasn't available. Most importantly I watched as my server who had natural hair, continously played in her hair while over at the server station, using both hands to play in her scalp and separate her knots. Attempted to go there one day after a great Sunday evening out and about with friends. They had a sign at the door that for July 28th, they will be closing at Midnight. We arrived there shortly prior to 11. There were two waitresses at the front right in front of the door. We tried to open the door and actually attempted to knock and they pretended to not see us. Actually we all could hear them slightly that they were talking about us and not trying to open the door and made every possible attempt to look at their phones or amongst themselves. After a few minutes another guy goes to the door and just stays that they are closed and nothing else. Very horrible customer service - they had no decency to explain or apologize for the inconvenience. They may have been teenagers, but still, as an employee they reflected poorly on the company. This was the second time my husband and I visit this Steak 'n Shake. And we probably wont visit again. As soon as we walk through the door, a waitress is hollering us over to a table available. She rushed us when we were ordering, she kept bringing us drinks that weren't ours, then when we would ask her if we could order something else she kept hovering over me as she talks to us or set things down on the table instead of having the courtesy of standing in front of me as I speak to her. We told her we were going to order a lot of food and she brings us the check saying we're her last table for the night. Mind you I have the burger in my mouth and she asks me if I want a container to go. After a few minutes she tells us that since she's leaving she'll hand us over to another waitress and we can give her the tip. When we meet the new waitress we ask her if we can order food to go. Some time passes by and a third waitress greets us saying "did you order some more food? She's signaling that its ready." If I could have avoided the one-star I would have. This place has constant problems. Went on 7/8/2015 and here is what I noticed. 1. The server took their sweet time to bring out drinks. Took more than 10-15 minutes to get drinks. 2. Noticed many tables with no food. Couple next to us was here before us and was still waiting for food. Noticed a person not wearing any sort of uniform in the kitchen with long hair and no hair net. This person had hair that should have been required to have a net. 4. Received my burger. I ordered the Jalapeno Crunch stack with a side of salt and vinegar fries, and received something that resembled a greasy, sat-on, kids burger. No Frenches fried onions on top and 2 pathetic Jalapenos. The fries came with it. They messed that up as well and brought a small dish of salt and vinegar fries. WHY? all it is is some sprinkled seasoning. All and all, I was completely dissatisfied with this experience. I have no logical explanation as to why Steak N Shake corporate would continue to allow this location to run the way it does. You have good traffic there, this could be great.
