Unfortunately I have no choice but to update my previous 5 star review to a 1 star. I have placed multiple orders that are not filled correctly. It's like the staff do not even care to read the order. I have also taken each survey & told them of the issues yet no one ever cares to respond & correct the issues. After each order they give you a code for a "large tallow fry" I guess they don't really have them cause I've ordered them at least 10 times & never received them. The last 3 orders I've upgraded our sides to small tallow tots since I already have the promo added for a free large tallow fry yet we have never received them either. We receive ZERO sides! I do usually order delivery through their app so I pay additional fees only to receive half my order. I tried reaching out to management with no response. Well, a manager left me a message, I called back but have yet to hear back again & it's been 2 weeks. I really want to patronize steak & shake. I really don't want them to go under. Unfortunately if they don't start fixing the staff I don't know how they'll stay in Business. The store itself is poorly run too. If you order carry out no one knows what you're doing when you walk inside to pick up your order. If you go to the counter & ask for assistance they act as though you're inconveniencing them by asking them to do their job. I highly recommend you keep driving & go elsewhere because your odds of receiving a correct order without an attitude & an argument are damn near zero. Calling them does no good either. This is an awful location. Long gone, are the days of clean floors, happy employees, & uniforms that "fit." I've lived in Dunedin & Clearwater for the last 45 years, so I remember when this location first opened. A steady decline in recent years was tolerated, but today is my last. The kids working here are unkept, have terrible conversations in the middle of a listening restaurant, & are quite obviously more interested is gossiping than greeting customers. Im one of those customer that waited on a mobile order "in the store" for 15 minutes for an order that was placed nearly 30 minutes prior. Now that I'm home, the fries are ice cold & 1 of 3 are missing - par for the course. Last time they forgot 2 of 2 milkshakes. Next time you walk into this "restaurant" you'll notice that your shoes will actually get dirtier when you step inside on the sticky, greasy floor. Stopped by to pick up some tallow oil and was told that they don't sell it yet they advertised for it so I ordered a kid's meal instead. I was at the drive through and waited 12 minutes for a kids meal! I was hoping that it was the wait but to my disappointment everything was cold! I took it inside and returned it. They didn't even offer a fresh, and hot replacement. I'm hoping that the line that was created, and wrapped around the side of the building, during my wait for the kids meal, was worth it. I haven't been to a Steak 'n Shake in quite a while. This location is just north of Westfield Countryside Mall. The restaurant was clean and well kept. We were quickly greeted and seated. Their menu options have changed dramatically since our last visit. We just wanted some of their good old favorites: Chocolate Shake, Double Cheeseburger w/ Fries, a Side Salad along with a large order of Onion Rings for the table. The side salad was surprisingly good for the cost. I would recommend getting one with your meal. The burgers were great! The lettuce and tomatoes were fresh and tasty. I love their shoestring fries! The only disappointment was the onion rings. They were crispy but the flavor was off and they had a mushy interior. The star of the show was, of course, their milk shakes! OMG! They were a bit thick but we didn't mind using a spoon. Overall, I had a great meal. In a time when there are a lot of hamburger restaurant options around, you should try out Steak 'n Shake again if you haven't been in awhile. The wait staff was friendly and efficient. I did the drive up window on July 3rd between 3-3:30 pm and 2 hours later my card was being used to purchase Apple Music and other misc purchases. This was the only place I used this particular credit card that day, WATCH THIS PLACE!!! Don't use your credit card at the drive up window! Before I tell you what I like about Steak and Shake I want to note that I'm only Steak and Shake customer in the winter months when they have an eggnog milkshake offering. If they took this away I would probably never stop by again. I don't eat fried food. And I don't eat any four-legged animals. This greatly reduces the options for me when it comes to dining at Steak and Shake. And if you think about it why would I go to some place with such a limited menu for me, when I could go to someplace like Bob Evans or Ruby Tuesday's. True or spend a little bit more money exercising my other options but, it would be a healthier choice for me. I don't want this review to come across as cold or callus in anyway because there are plenty of fine people who enjoy what Steak and Shake has on their menu. As I said it's the eggnog milkshake that draws me in. The same can be said of McDonald's which has a so-so eggnog milkshake when compared to the Steak and Shake version of the same product. The two locations that I've been to recently have ample parking around the building and a drive-thru. The wait can be long at times, so I try to avoid the rush hour associated with this restaurant chain. During the low in sales that must occur between 2 and 5 p.m. and 2 and 5 a.m. they have a great offer to get discounted shakes. I don't know why so many people are so down on Steak and Shake. It is a quick service restaurant, not Bern's Steakhouse. The service we had was fine. We were seated quickly, our server took our order and the food came quickly. We had simple burgers and fries and each had a shake. The shakes were sooo good. We don't eat fast food often so getting a good shake was nice. the burgers and fries were also good. When we went to pay our bill I hit the wrong key that would have basically given our server a tip equal to our dinner (we left cash at the table.) The food prices have not only gone up but you have zero human interaction what so ever. Do you have to use a kiosk to place your order and then go sit down. This is one of my grandsons favorite lunch stops when he has a day off from school. I'm sure it has to do more with the shakes than anything else (this boy loves his ice cream). Service is always "good" and the staff are friendly. The burgers are always served well done with no pink at all. The fries are "shoe string" size are served hot, but do cool off quickly My favorite burger is the rather new Prime Steakburger, which is hand-crafted from 6 oz of all-natural, 100% USDA certified choice beef, using a blend of brisket and chuck, very good! Some mixed feelings about this place. Been coming here with friends after late night shinanigans for a while now. You'd think we would be used to the poor service by now but they keep coming up with new ways to disappoint us. The food is definitely up to standards. I only eat steak n' shake when I'm with friends and this is the only one we go to so I can't compare it to others. These type of joints have a reputation for being low quality and greasy and steak n' shake doesn't try to hide it. But that's everything I love about these type of places. Every entree probably has a whole days worth of calories and sodium, but boy is it tasty. With what you get, I'd normally expect to pay around $8, but with the $4 menu you can be ballin' in a budget. The $4 menu actually has a surprisingly large variety as well. Of course, you can't go to steak n' shake and not get a shake. The portion size is pretty big and one of friend goes for the kid size. Sometimes we're even able to make it for happy hour (2-4 am and pm). The food+nostalgia earned this place 3 stars instead of 2. The service could use some pretty big improvements though. I used to think this was because they're always packed but its the same even when we go at a time when the store was about a quarter full. Then I found out this is because the servers are hiding behind the drink stations talking with the rest of the employees. I don't mind the part where we spend 15+ min for food and drinks because we're usually here to chit chat, but the place is pretty dirty. The tables are never properly wiped down and there's always a sticky or greasy spot. Im not sure they have proper cleaning equipments because last time when I asked the server to wipe the table she used napkins instead of a wet clothes which I thought was strange. We have frequented Steak n Shake since the 70's. The location on SR 580 has to be the most poorly managed location, we've visited. Sadly it's closest to our home. I emailed corporate about a month ago in regards to the level of dust, dirt and filth visible to the customers. I even offered to share some photos that I took. I felt somewhat brushed off when they weren't even interested in them. They stated that my concerns would be directed to the appropriate person to get things corrected. This morning we decided to stop and give this location another chance. It's been about a month and Sadly all the same issues were still visible and not cleaned up at all. If this filth is visible sitting at the counter I can only imagine what is going on back out of view. read more

The service (or lack there of) at this location is without a doubt the worst I have ever experienced in s restaurant. They were busy this morning and one server was busting her ass but couldn't keep up. Meanwhile, the manager stood in the back not lifting a finger to help out. When we walked in the manager looked right at us, said nothing and didn't offer to seat us-he actually turned around and walked away. While we waited and waited, multiple tables got up and left because of the lack of service. The manager has a lot to learn on how to manage a restaurant!! I've written a number of superlative reviews about this outlet in the past. Tonite's experience was quite unpleasant. First, the drive-thru was wrapped two-thirds around the building when I arrived. I thought the volume was attributable to good food & efficient service as I had grown accustomed to; no, wishful thinking. I discovered the horrible backup to be the doings of the order taker. She gave me a price of $9.60 for two #7's (double steak burger w/ ff's for $3.99 each). The correct amount should have been $8.56, but she thought she heard me request a Portobello Mushroom addition (upcharge involved), rather than the MUSTARD I wanted. By the way, the $4.00 special w/ double steak burger & small shake is gone, & all steak burgers come w/ ff's, so I don't know what the "free ff's" sign is for...unless you want a double order...but then one can't eat that many before they loose their heat & go limp & soggy. Last, when I finally worked my way around the corner of the building (perhaps 10 minutes) & arrived at the window the cashier said "that will be $9.60"...AYSM...the order taker hadn't corrected the order. Thusly, I & everyone else behind me (10 cars+/-) had to wait further while the kitchen remade my sandwich. ACK!!! My wife's burger was short on raw onion & long on cheese. She was irked & I'm afraid my positive memories of this eatery have been dashed. read more

Im going to make this quick so that you can turn around before you pull in. 1) Mildew and mold in the ceiling with an accompanying smell. 2) The AC is turned down to about what feels like 40 degrees. (To inhibit mold and mildew growth) 3) Food was literally a 1 star and took an 1.5 hours to come out. Restaurant wasn't even half full. The excuse was that they had someone call in so they were short staffed. After a whole bunch of excuses and only apologies from the poor server that has to deal with crap management that doesnt seem to care what happens in their restaurant, the server Yvette just basically argued with us accusing us of just trying to get a free meal. Really sad day because we talked about this visit (I'm from out of town) for quite a while because 5 years ago this place was great, and it was our go to spot on the last day of our visit to Clearwater usually.
