Food is ok. Price isn't horrible. BUT, the service and wait times are extremely long. After being seated, we waited 15 minutes for the waiter. We then waited 30 plus minutes on our food. So, nearly an hour from being seated to receiving our food. That alone makes this location a pass in my book. read more

Extremely slow albeit it's a busy time. Unfortunately the cook handles raw hamburger with his gloved hand then handles buns with same hand. looks like others had bad experiences and it certainly isn't a place you should eat too often as their burgers are served with an extra side of grease. they have a 50's diner feel and are generally pretty fast with the service, though the friendliness can get spotty. favorite meal is the frisco melt and fries...OUTSTANDING of course, if you're trying for the first time you gotta get a shake, they are delicious, but I steer clear now that i'm trying to be at least a little healthy... read more

Terrible from the moment we was seated. The service was friendly, well at least our waitress was. The rest of the staff, not so pleasant. I received the wrong burger, handwritten on order correctly... Typed in wrongly. After my son and wife finished their food my correct order finally came. The fried onion strips were barely cooked and half of my fries were still ice cold and/or frozen. Needless to say I didn't feel like waiting til closing time to get a shake (probably wrong). So I paid or at least stood at the cashier counter by myself for 10mins listening to staff shoot the breeze with a regular customer and receiving blank stares from the other staff corralling in the corner like the up-ity parading charade socialites from "The Great Gatsby". So, in lieu of these actions... My business will continue elsewhere. read more

Two of my friends and myself just left here. We didn't get waited on for 10 minutes and a bug crawled on our table, we look over and there was a dead fly in the window seal, AND a SLUG on the wall behind us!!!! By far the worst service I have ever received at a restaurant. You'll get better service at most fast food restaurants. It took a good five minutes to get seated with one person in front of us. The hosts were talking amongst each other and not seating customers. The order was taken fairly quickly, but my food never came out. Our shakes came out first after about fifteen minutes. My fiancés food finally came out, but after thirty minutes mine still hadn't. I asked and they had some how forgotten about my meal, so they had to cook it and it came out after another fifteen minutes. The food itself was good, but waiting almost an hour for a burger and shake isn't going to get many return customers. Also, they were not even remotely busy at the time of day I was there. read more

I only can comment on the banana, strawberry, vanilla milk shakes- I've never eaten the food just milkshakes and they are AMAZING!!!!

My coke was flat it was nasty wouldn't go there for a drink and the fries were soggy and sucked and had no flavor the burger was ok ‍‍

Went to steak n shake not the best service. We ordered cokes and burgers they brought our drinks 15 min later. When they brought out our food they forgot our chili. We waited for a refill but no waitress my wife got up and found someone to get my refill. The waitress came by later and got our plates didn't ask if we needed any drinks. The chili was all beans. The burger was good and the fries were good. I will give it another try later on next year. read more

To me this location has always been a hangout spot for my friends and I since high school. We are all in college now and still come back when we get to see each other. The food was always great and the service was exceptional any time of day, any day of the week. But recently it's just become a shit hole. The store is constantly filthy no matter what time of day and no matter how many people are there. We usually go at night because it's a little less crowded and we are young so we don't sleep. I guess the night crew was switched up or they lost a lot of old workers because it's just an awful experience now. The last time we went we were waiting on our food for literally almost 2 hours. We let it slide most of the time because we like to sit and chat, and it's really not a huge deal, but 3 out of 5 of us hadn't got our drinks yet and the waitress was being extremely rude. We got our food and it was just terrible. Everything was cold and the meat looked a little suspicious but we lived so I guess it was fine. This was around 12 at night by the way, so there were maybe 5 other people in the entire restaurant.. two of us got shakes, one of them wasn't the one we ordered and had hair in it, the other was fine. One of my buddies got the chili spaghetti thing and it looked like someone threw up in a bowl and chopped up and entire onion to sprinkle on top. My friend that got the chili never got his drink. Every time the waitress would come by he would ask and she never brought it out. He asked for a root beer float. I know that waitresses name but I don't want to say it just Incase she was having a bad night or something. Just a huge disappointment for a restaurant that has done us a lot of good over the years. Hope things change back to normal. The manager that was on duty was super cool though. Not sure what his name was but he was dope. Never change man. read more

I will not be going back everything was fine up till going to pay for my meal it was 20 bucks and some change and i had 2 gift cards 10 bucks a piece. The manager of all people was the one to check me out n tricked me into putting a 10 dollar tip I told him I hadnt planned on a 50% tip but 15% and he wouldnt fix it and argued with me about it so i ended up paying 30 bucks because he wouldnt make it right so i had to pay a aditional 10 bucks because he refused to fix it. It wasnt right and i felt cheated and to have a manager be the one to do it shows something not only on management but the company as well in my opinion I wouldve givin no stars if possible read more

The Steak and Shake in Cleveland Tn used to be our favorite place for a burger however, in the last 6 months it has gone down the drain. It is like there is no one in charge , you can get seated and when you finally get a table no one will take your order. My elderly parents go here to eat once or twice a week. We went there today and it was the worst restaurant experience I have had in a long time. The restaurant was filthy - feet stuck to the floor,chairs and table were dirty and there was ketchup on the wall. If the hostess moved any slower she would be going backwards. I've never seen so many servers unwilling to work. It took 20 minutes to get a seat because it took the hostess 15 minutes to bus 2 tables. It took another 25 minutes to get our food after we ordered. The food was barely warm and the slider patties were so thin they looked like lace. Hiring teenagers is fine but you have to instill in them a sense of pride in the job they do. If you have 15-20 people waiting to be seated you need to hustle to get the tables turned over. I ordered the frisco melt and my wife had the single steak burger and they were great! Both burgers were juicy and full of flavor. The fries were also tasty and so was the strawberry shake that I ordered. There is somewhat of a wait (no more than 5 mins), but it's well worth it. read more

This is not a good place. I am not a person that complains easily on restaurants. I am seriously very, very lenient on it. But when I come to a restaurant and try and be a regular, and something is wrong *every* single time, then something is wrong. Where to begin... It started with small errors that could be easily fixed. I understand when it's busy, or when there is a rush, everyone is going to make mistakes, and it's normal. But these "small errors" started happening during non-rush times. There have been times when me and my other have been there, together, or separate, and it has taken way longer than it should have for someone to ask, "have you been taken care of yet?". Nearly every single order we've done has had to be taken back to probably disgruntled employees that probably weren't doing their job in the first place. This past instance, we did a to-go order online, that I would definitely check because, well, they don't get the orders right. Well, when I went to go pick it up, the place wasn't really that clean. I know it's the weekend of the fourth. It was about three AM or so. But when I got there, it was pretty quiet, just two tables. They didn't even start the order I had put in, and I got there about ten minutes after its supposed "ready" time. I was told that it would be done in about five minutes. The "to-go" salad I had ordered had the dressing already put on it. I am not sure why you would put dressing on a salad that is to go. The manager told me it was a "new policy" that had been enforced maybe two months ago. I call bullshit. They never did it before, and it's common sense. The "Steakburger" I ordered had no toppings on it, just meat and cheese. But I didn't know about this until I had returned home because I was too busy dealing with the salad. There was trash all over the back. Garbage cans overflowing. Fries coming out the cracks in the fryer. The burger cook seemed to be the only competent person there that night. He was the one that fixed the salad, and had the dressing on the side. The guy that originally made the salad seemed to be fumbling in the back, and tossed the salad bowls on the counter. Some kind of attitude thing or something. I was told the manager was in a bad mood that night. It seems like he's always in a bad mood or something, or maybe our money isn't good enough. I don't fucking know. But we do know we aren't coming back, even though it doesn't mean shit to a large company like that. Chase, if you're reading this, maybe you should be the manager. You're really the only person that tried to make anything, well, *anything*. You had two name tags on, the other one said "Jayme". I hope you stop cooking burgers and get a promotion or work somewhere better. That place isn't worth your time. read more

Don't think I'll be coming here again. There's a Steak 'n Shake where I'm from that doesn't compare to this place. I was just passing through the state/city and stopped here to eat something different other than the regular fast food restaurants. I can honestly say I've never felt so out of place. My family and I were the only minorities in the restaurant. The server took a while to get our drinks and take our order. When the food did come, it wasn't hot and the bread crumbled. The manager was really nice when we shared with him that we were dissatisfied and he immediately apologized and didn't charge us for a meal which was really nice. I've never been to KY, but being from the west coast, I haven't heard anything "good" regarding how minorities are treated so I hope this wasn't the issue with the server. I've traveled to many different states and this experience has honestly made me not want to visit there (KY) again. Like I said, the manager was great, but the servers definitely need some additional training on customer service and perhaps provide feedback to the cooks regarding the cold food. read more

I only yelp when I've had a significantly bad or good experience, in this case it was bad. Me and my bf got here for a late lunch on a Sunday around 3pm and didn't leave until and hour and half later, Steak 'n Shake is fast food should have taken 30 min max. Anyways we were seated but didn't have a server get our drink order for a good 15 mins then waited another 30 mins for our shakes, I ordered a chocolate...they brought me mocha. Then 45 mins later we got our food and then about 10 mins after that I got my correct shake. The worst part of the whole experience though was the obnoxious woman in the kitchen screaming at the other servers to the point where everyone in the restaurant was being subjected to the drama. Overall extremely unprofessional, I would definitely recommend a change in management. We were not the only customers that were displeased. However I will say the servers were all very friendly just incompetent lol read more
