When we were finally seated I told the manager that 5 families had walked out. She literally said "oh well". "I apologize". Like all of the other reviews, HORRIBLY UNDERSTAFFED. It's been over half hot now and still no food. Out server is the only one here and she is great. STEER CLEAR OF THIS LOCATION UNLESS YOU HAVE ALL DAY!!! Trash all over the floor. Update. After sitting here now for over 40 minutes and no food, II can see they continue to focus on the drive they orders. Stay away! Completely disgusted by what I found in my drink from @SteaknShake -looks like spigot from drink machine! Gross! Before posting anything online, we went in to talk to the manager. Manager was already aware of the missing spigot and kind of laughed when she said something about were we the ones that got it!! She never really apologized and was just patronizing! She did say the only thing she could do was refund the drink, but the real thing that upset us was the lack of concern that this had even occurred. The person who gave us the drink obviously did not care and it is no surprise since the manager did not care either! I must say this was a very horrible experience with a steak and shake. My hamburger was good but several fries were still frozen. Explain that 1???? I went through the drive-thru at Steak 'n Shake in Frisco, Texas @ 3440 North Preston Road yesterday at 4:45pm. The total was $15.51. The young man (white teenage boy) who took my payment, Collin, stuck the card reader out the window and I stuck my card in. He went to pull it back and I said, "It'll probably ask for my pin." He shook his head no and the window closed with my card still inside the reader. In hindsight, I almost always have to put my pin in at Steak N Shake, so the fact that he automatically ran it as credit was abnormal to begin with. Another young man (black teenage boy) opened the window to hand me my drinks and then my food. I asked him for straws and spoons and we left, completely forgetting to ask for my card back (not my job, for the record). We went right across the street to Staples to pick up a print job we'd ordered and I realized immediately that they had not given it back to me at Steak n' Shake. I ran in and grabbed the order from Staples and then headed back across the street to Steak n' Shake for my card - it was there *maybe* 10 minutes total. When I pulled up to the window, Collin asked how he could help me and I said, "You have my card." He said he would need to get his manager to get it out of the safe and a couple minutes later he handed my card with the receipt paper clipped to it and off I went. I am a skeptic through and through, much as I try not to be, and my gut was saying, "Keep an eye on your account." The gut never lies, she is always right. At 7:59pm I got a text from our bank alerting me to possible fraud. I knew immediately who the charges had come from - or at least where the person works. Once I responded 'NO' to the text, indicating that the $807.50 charge to BestBuy.com was not an authorized purchase, my phone rang and it was the fraud department from my bank. I was on the phone with them for over 15 minutes. I assumed that it was just the 1 charge, but no. The attempted charges were as follows: BestBuy.com $807.50, $807.50, $403.75, Nike.com $323.11, $226.81, Mobile Wallet Update $0 I assume the Mobile Wallet Update was the thief's attempt to make it look like my card was his (I am 1000000% sure it was 1 of 3 males that did this). I called Frisco Police Department when I got off the phone with my bank. Unfortunately for me and SO fortunately for the trash bag that did this, we can not press charges bc 'technically no crime was committed' since all the charges were denied. I won't go on a long rant here about that, but I would argue that even attempting to make purchases on a card that you stole the information from in the first place is, in fact, a crime, but apparently not. Lucky him. I called the restaurant and asked who the manager was that was working at 4:45pm. The man I spoke with said the manager's name is Manuel, the white kid's name is Collin and he didn't know the black kid's name bc he's brand new. I like Steak n' Shake, so it's disappointing that we will never again give them our business. I will call corporate today, but I'm not holding my breath that they'll do anything about it. What should happen is they should review their tapes and see who wrote down my card information in the 10 minutes that my card was in their possession. If they do not do at least that AND fire that person, then I can safely assume they are ok with employing and retaining criminals in training - work at Steak n' Shake where you can learn about the service industry and how to get things you didn't work for with other people's money without their permission! These have been tight months for a lot of people with some jobs being labeled as 'essential' and others not, people afraid to interact with other human beings and our business just about requires face to face contact. But this person wasn't trying to buy groceries they couldn't afford or medication - not that even that would make this ok, but it would give some motivation that wasn't completely selfish and lazy - they were trying to purchase electronics and expensive shoes. Side note: Why everyone doesn't just purchase a single pair of Birkenstocks and live in them year round like I do, I'll never know. I'm so glad it's insane to me to spend hundreds of dollars on SHOES! So, fair warning. If you're gonna eat there, I suggest paying with exact change bc they can not be trusted with credit cards. Now my card has been cancelled, which is a real inconvenience bc I get to go through the many auto-debit things on that card and change it to the new card # when it comes and some lazy punk gets off scot free. Seems about right in today's cultural climate. read more

I had breakfast here one morning and I started looking at reviews while I was waiting and I got a little nervous. I ordered biscuits and gravy and also scrambled eggs with cheese and some sausage. The restaurant was pretty empty so service was readily available and attentive. I found the restaurant clean which I was little worried about. I love S & S but this was a first visit to my local store. Food was very good and you just cannot beat the prices. I will be back, not only for breakfast but lunch and dinner as well. read more

Good greasy burgers, fries, and hot dogs. Kids love their milkshakes. Only thing that's consistently bad here is the service. They'll seat you without a menu, make you wait 2-3 minutes to be seated in a completely empty restaurant, and be absent from drink refills and patron checks. Don't waste your time or money here. Steak and shake is nothing like it used to be. Waffle House Dow no the road at 121 and Hebron is a much better choice. Let's hear it for Kym with a Y! Poor girl seemed to be taking care of the entire restaurant herself on NYE at 3am, and still handled all us idiots with poise - even cracking jokes with everyone. For as cheap as S&S is, I think it's pretty cool that you can get table service. Water refills are slow coming, and the burgers aren't huge, but the place is clean and cute and seems to be the only one in this particular area still serving food inside past 2am. Came in for milkshakes, waited in line for 5-6 mins, and when I finally got to the counter to order, some guy from the back of the kitchen in a green apron looks at me while yelling at to the cashier directly in front of me, "We're NOT doing anymore take out orders!! NO MORE ORDERS TO GO!!". Really? It's 10pm and the sign says "OPEN 24 HOURS". Being a retired Army Paratrooper, there were times when I'd tell one of my Soldiers "You're going to do your job son. People are counting on you. If you don't wanna do your job, you need to go into another line of work. But today, right now, you're going to do what you are being paid to do." The conversation I had with the "night crew" was very much along those lines, but with a much "firmer" tone. They all looked at me in shock, but I got my milkshakes for my family nonetheless. And yes, they were TO GO! With that said, I would recommend the manager, owner, or whomever is "in charge", to either get your "team" on the same sheet of music as your organization, get new team members, or risk having more disgruntled customers Running out of product, or having equipment fail, IS grounds for not being able to provide a service, or product. Not wanting to do something because "it's late "... You obviously need to seek a new form of employment. May I suggest something NOT in customer service or in the service industry. Let me own a business with a huge sign in the window that reads "OPEN 24 HOURS", and find out one of my employees told a customer they weren't going to provide a service because "it's late". How do you screw up a simple order of 2 fries and a vanilla milk shake? Come here to find out! 24 mins waiting in the drive thru only to be disappointed. Waited another 5 min for my correct change, then another 5 for my refund. This after I was handed a pretty gross birthday cake shake. I say gross because if you are expecting a vanilla flavor, it's a bit shocking getting a piece of cake out of the straw. Fries had sat in the bag for the entire time I was in line and during the change fiasco, so they were cold and hard like a rock. Never offer anything larger than a 20. Went to this steak'n shake last night for a late night snack. We were sat quickly and the restaurant was empty beside another table that was there. It took 20 minutes for our waitress to even come to our table to ask what we wanted to drink. It was kind of ridiculous. I asked for some hot sauce which she never brought as well. Everyone there looked like they were blazed out of there minds, which is fine as long as you still can do your job when you're stoned. The food was pretty good especially their milkshakes. I've never been too much of a fan of there French fries though. Either way I hadn't been to here in a while and this trip further confirmed why I don't go there. read more

HORRIBLE SERVICE I was part of a larger party and I understand that it would take longer. But this was horrible. We didn't even get our drinks until we had been there for 35 minutes. We got our food after waiting for an hour, watching other parties come and get their food first. When we did get our food, my burger was wrong. I asked for no sauce, and there was sauce on it. When they took it back, they just wiped the sauce off because I could still taste it. Our burgers were cold too. One lady from another party left because her burger was cold. We never got refills until we were about to leave. We ordered to go shakes and they brought out the wrong one for me. Overall, it was a huge waste of time and the food wasn't great. read more

We usually enjoy Steak and Shake, but this was the worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant!!!! The whole restaurant was filthy. They were almost empty but insisted on seating us at a table that needed to be cleaned. They cleaned it by sweeping fries and all onto the floor with a rag. I walked by the kitchen, and I have never seen anything so dirty, well except their bathroom. The toilets and sink were so built up with dirt, they were gray. The food wasn't good, and our shake glasses were covered on the outside with chocolate syrup that got all over our clothes. Maybe I should send them my cleaning bill.
