Horrible service!!! This place gets one star, solely because the food itself was up to Steak 'n Shake standards... once we finally got it. Our waitress judged us for what we ordered and acted appalled when we politely requested more water. She gave us plenty of attitude despite treating her with respect and trying to be understanding. She didn't get a single thing from our order correct even after repeating the order multiple times and requesting the correct thing. In general, I find the food at Steak 'n Shake to be subpar. On our most recent visit, I was pleased with my decision to order a cheeseburger but that was really the only part of the meal I enjoyed. Their fries are okay, but I prefer larger fries and usually like to dip them in ranch (but theirs comes straight from a bottle and is a gross). We ordered onion rings to share with the table but on top of not liking the flavor, apparently they don't come with any sort of dipping sauce either. Me and my boyfriend go to streak n shake pretty often and this was the worst experience I've ever had. We waited for 45 minutes for two burgers- and we watched them be placed in the window and our server gave them to us immediately and somehow they were cold? I got the Wisconsin buttery burger (which I get every time for the past 5 years) and the cook put an insane amount of cold un-melted butter on the top bun, which also was not warm at all. When I had my tonsils taken out about 10 years ago, the first thing I wanted to eat were those damn, skinny fries with cheese. So, we usually hit the drive thru here before heading down south. I wonder if steak and shake gets all of its negative reviews from the late night hours because I have yet to have a good experience going to steal and shake after a certain time. This is in conjunction with my late night experiences. After midnight it is hard to find a good variety of food that doesn't require you to stay and sit or go to one of the common fast food chains in town. Steak and shake offers a decent variety of different foods along with their burgers and shakes at a fairly cheap price. Honestly I would pay more if I got better service and all of my food when I go through the steak and shake dry through. I always feel either rushed or like I am annoying the drive thru employee every time I go(which isn't too often, but somehow I get the same type of service each time). Out of the past couple of years Ive attempted to grab food late at night at S&S and my order has been either missing something or incorrectly made. The food when it's made correctly is usually pretty good and I have yet to actually have a complaint on the quality of the food I get. Maybe I should just check my bag and good each and every time but then that just creates a whole new mess of problems. It's one of those situations where you know what food will hit the spot but you also know the situation you put yourself into. Today, offered an upgrade salad to accompany my sandwich fries entree with my discovery of full yellow salad chucks and wilted greens hidden underneath. The bill was reduced for the salad mishap and that was that. I accommodated the tip for my waitress with her efforts with receiving an additional chocolate chip cookie that only offered one as part of the entree. Conveniently located next to the cinema, it's great place to get a bite before seeing a movie. The Garlic Burger is a win for sure, along with the Salt and Vinegar Fries. A standard burger with garlic sauce and then a garlic butter on the bun. I also like that the garlic burger doesn't come with anything else on the burger. Plain and simple, yet super delicious. This location is usually understaffed, like one server for seven tables kind of understaffed. Taking that into consideration, our server, for the most part, did a reasonable job. The food is often prepared inconsistently. Toasted bun, not toasted bun. A lot of fries, not a lot of fries. Are they spinning a wheel in the back to decide? Three separate visits I've ordered salt and vinegar fries but received regular. Many other orders were also sent back to the kitchen to be corrected. The place is dirty too. Crumbs, dust, and greasy handprints everywhere. Last but not least, expect to wait at the front cash register to pay. Overall, the food is good when it's what you ordered and made properly. The staff is friendly, but so disorganized and understaffed that the warm smiles can't compensate. This location seems to be hit or miss for many reviewers. And it's been hit or miss for me too sometimes. But on our most recent visit it was a solid triple hit. We called in our order for takeout when we weren't that far away. While I've had no problems with doing that at other locations, I think it threw them off the balance just a bit. Our order wasn't too complicated: two Frisco melts, two fries and one large coke. The Frisco melt hit the perfect greasy spot I was looking to fill. Popped into this place at 5:45ish this afternoon with my daughter. The place was less than 1/3 occupied. We were both looking forward to some empty (albeit juicy and yummy! ) calories. We were seated fairly promptly and left with a courteous "your server will be right with you" to peruse a picture filled menu tempting our taste buds and getting our hearts set on our individual choices of the hamburger configuration of our dreams. At first I was pleasantly pleased with the laid back and unrushed atmosphere. First off it's Steak n Shake, so I set my expectations accordingly. We stopped by this location on the way to Orlando for a family reunion. We went inside to order. Everyone knew what they wanted. We had to wait but I like when I can see people make my food and I know it's fresh. So I am not a fan of their fries and I got onion rings. They were hot and not bad. As far as I'm concerned, no one does really good onion rings, so I don't hold it against them, the rings are 10times better than the fries. Burgers were good, no complaints in our party of 4. The prices are good. So you get comparable to what you pay for. Now, my complaint is to the cleanliness (and smell) of the women's restroom. Like I said, were are heading out of town, so I figured I would make it a pit stop while waiting for the food. Oh my god it stunk to the high heavens!!!!! Ugggghh, I held my breath as long as I could. The floor needed to be swept and mopped and having an air freshener in there would help. Oh, but I was very satisfied with the service. Why should I have to wait so long to pay for my food after eating? Today I go to the register and there is no other customer being assisted. The manager looks at me and the tells another employee she is going to the office for change. Since I was paying with the app, I didn't need any change. Then I stand there for over 10 minutes before she comes back and apologizes for my wait. I use a coupon, which actually makes my check higher in price that without...I'm not kidding. Then I pay with the app. Total transaction time about 10 seconds after she returned from getting change for...not anyone present. I do ask about the total being higher with the coupon than without..."I'm sorry." They really have an issue with managers here. I ordered a steak burger and two regular milkshakes on May 17, 2019. They gave me one regular one small. When I showed my receipt I was told I ordered wrong and though my receipt said two regular I had actually ordered one small and one regular. I said I was charged for two regulars and wanted two regulars. They said they hadn't charged me for that even though it was on the receipt. No one made a move to correct the mistake.
