HOLY *insert here* One star is being too NICE!!!! THIS PLACE IS THE WORST RESTAURANT IVE EVER BEEN TO. The WORST customer experience I HAVE EVER HAD! The manager must be creating fake reviews because there is no possible way that this location is almost 5 stars. NO POSSIBLE WAY. 12am we walk in. Order waters, milkshakes and our meals. It took 45 min for our waiter to bring water to our table. As I watched our meal sit at the counter for 15 minutes. Milkshakes aren't in sight. I saw my waiter about 2 times the whole night. And basically an hour to get our milkshakes. One of the burgers at the table were cold of course because it sat at the counter for forever. And to top it off the bun had finger holes in it! Like someone played with it before being served. When my friend told the waitress(not even our waiter, because he couldn't handle making milkshakes, getting water, and food for us alone) that his burger was cold, the cook had the nerve to say it isn't cold. Excuse me? If the customer isn't happy with the temperature, he isn't happy. And if it wasn't sitting at the counter for 15 minutes, it probably wouldn't be cold. The organization in this location is a disgrace. The manager was no where to be found for about 40 minutes. Customers waiting to pay were lined up waiting to pay, but that meant for one of the waiters to stop what they were doing, help at the register to then return back to angry customers who are waiting impatiently. ONLY 2 WAITERS ON CALL. On a Saturday night? At a 24 hour restaurant? Not a smart idea! 3 could have been enough. To add on to this. friends at our table had previously had this waiter and had the EXACT problem. TOO SLOW. I wish i had his name. And that was 2 months ago. Why is he still working at the same pace? Organization and staffing all starts from Management. So management derserves a big fat F. read more

Beware of a rip-off at the Steak 'N' Shake in Royal Palm Beach, Fla. This rip-off may extend to all Steak 'N" Shakes so beware anywhere you go. Look at the menu and you will see that they offer a double-burger with cheese, which may be called a double cheeseburger, for $3.99. But note, they have NO listing for a double-burger WITHOUT cheese. When you ask them to take off the cheese, the server punches NO CHEESE into the computer and the computer still charges you for the cheese. And when you ask the manager about it -- as we did -- he tells us that he can't take off the money for the cheese you didn't eat because corporate set it up that way. OK, I know it's not much money. The cheese costs from 39 cents to 60 cents, depending upon which employee you ask. (That confusion is a whole new can of worms so let's skip it right now.) But those nickels and dimes must add up to tens of thousands of dollars a day across the country -- AND IT'S JUST NOT FAIR! It's bad enough I'm getting ripped off by my bank, it's bad enough that I'm getting ripped off by my insurance company, it's bad enough that I'm getting ripped off by my car dealer -- I shouldn't have to go to my local diner and expect to have to read the menu like a contract. By the way, don't let anyone tell you the price of a double-cheeseburger doesn't include the price of the cheese. That's a blantant lie. Andy vaguely intelligent person knows that if that were true, the menu would be trumpeting "Buy a double-burger and get FREE CHEESE!" While we're at it, I find this particularly digusting since I've been a loyal customer of Steak 'N' Shake all through the South since I was a child. And I know that double-burgers are among their favorite sellers. So the company is targeting their best customers with this rip-off. I say tell the manager to take the money off and if he won't do it then e-mail or call Steak "N' Shake headquarters and complain. read more

Had a great time here tonight! Was coming back from lake with decided to get some food. It was packed for a 11 at night but hey. We had the funniest waiter, she seemed quite frazzled but keep us entertained. The food took a little longer than the normal, but I totally understand. Got a Oreo milkshake... Don't drink the whole thing before your meal you will regret it!!! Had a blast. Our waitress seemed so stoked for a ten dollar tip. She totally deserved! Very poor service! Our waitress was super nice, but 30 mins for two sandwiches with fries? Then to add insult to injury, they forgot our chili and we had to ask for it twice before they brought it out - 10 minutes after we already finished our meals. Shakes are AWESOME. Burgers are horrifying. Stick to the shakes. I mean, I still have nightmares about that garlic burger. Just god awful and soaked in grease. Service has been awful the last few times we have gone here. You walk in and regardless of how few customers there re every table is dirty and not cleaned off. After being seated we have waited up to twenty minutes to get out order taken and easily that again before it came out. Management needs to be redone. read more

This was by far the worst restaurant ive been in. I waited about 7 mins before i was greeted. The jalapeno burger had 3 tiny peppers on it and it was small in size. The ketchup was spoiled. I've only been here on really late nights when most places are closed and I have to say its pretty good for fast food. $3.99 meal includes a burger and fries. Cheaper and tastier than most meals from Mcdonalds and Burger King. Their milk shakes are good, but probably the worst for you considering calories and sugar qty. read more

I used to love Steak and Shake in college because it was always fresh, hot, and delicious. The Steak and Shake store at 53rd and Keystone in Indianapolis, however, is terrible about customer service and product quality. I have received several $10 gift cards as compensation for my bad experiences, and I don't even want to eat there for free. This store is just as terrible if not worse than the urban McDonald's "Faith and Blessed" locations in Indianapolis. I even tried to use the new app to order food, but the staff is always so terrible. Rude lazy employees, non-racially diverse staff, cold food, orders are always wrong, long wait, missing items, no napkins, and all around bad experience. The Steak and Shake at Binford and 71st St. is always GREAT because the staff is comprised of real humans with brains. I am going to be nicer to myself and pay a bit more for quick late night food so that I can get a quality meal for once. I am sick of getting ripped off and treated like garbage. read more

I finally just received my milkshakes after waiting for 45 minutes. I placed an online order over 3 hours ago then called 20 minutes before to tell them I would be a little early. The girl said no problem. I've never waited this long for two milkshakes. There was like 20 employees working but clearly customer service isn't a priority. While the food is consistent with other Steak and Shake locations the service is horrendous. We have come to this location a couple of times and the lack of service has been consistent. I admit, we are not a small party (7), but when you have wait staff standing around with dirty tables and tables that have been seated for a bit, but not greeted it's a problem. This most recent visit, I almost walked out. Another family of 4 did finally walk out because no one bothered to come greet them, get them drinks or take their order after more than 15 minutes of sitting at their table. I know this is NOT a Steak and Shake standard, but I don't think I will be back. I am not a difficult customer, I have owned a restaurant and understand that there are times where you will be slower to take care of your customers, but not every time! This place is a serious health concern. I was there last night, waiting for a pick up order I had placed online. Unfortunately I had already paid for the meal, however, from what my husband and I saw last night, we were willing to take the $16 loss. Placed the order for pick up, figured it would reduce the wait time, NOT. Actually It probably would have helped if someone was at the register to help everyone on line, yet that didn't happen either. It was mind blowing due to the dining room being dead so there wasn't much to do out there, either way, that wasn't even a big deal for us. You expect to wait when you go to this place. However, while on line I saw the most gut wrenching things taking place. First off, the kitchen is filthy. I don't even see how this would have passed a health inspection. As we're waiting for someone to acknowledge us all on line, the grill guy starts grilling up some burgers. He bends down to the floor, goes into this deep drawer below the grill and pulls out a plastic opened bag of burger buns. He grabs what he needs and throws them back into the drawer, wide open and in the meantime tried to close the drawer with his foot but in turn stuck his foot on the bag and TOUCHES THE BUNS with the bottom of his shoe. So now the next 10 or so people are going to have the delicious remains of this man's dirty work shoes as an additional seasoning on their bun. What a taste. As the man is pushing the buns into the drawer with his foot, he must have disturbed a roach colony because then about 18 roaches come out to party on the kitchen floor. After that, we lost our appetites and we left, without picking up the food or collecting a refund. At that moment, our health was worth more than the food or $16. Refund or not, my next review is to the dept of health. People, be aware of where you eat and those conditions of which you eat in. read more

I'm only giving them two stars because the shakes were good however, waiting a while for someone to seat us and take our order was ridiculous. The place was kinda dirty, our table had a red stain on it, the floor looked as if hadn't been mopped. The drive thru is fine (a little on the greasy side) but the eat in restaurant is awful. Always poor service. We waited for 5-10 minutes before we were sat and there was no one in front of us. It's bad when you can see your food sitting in the window for 10 minutes before you can get a server to bring it to your table. I never figured out who my server was because the service was so non existent. The management is just as clueless as the wait staff. After we ate, it took 30 minutes to get a shake to go. Wow- I just sat for 20 mins waiting in the drive thru for two kids meal burgers. After paying, the manager came and told me they needed to clean their grill so it would be a " few" minutes. She was polite enough to me, but within minutes there appeared to be a yelling match among her and other employees behind the window. This went on for about 20 minutes. If the manager wasn't yelling at them, the employees were frustrated and swearing in their conversations , while I'm at the window sitting. Finally I flagged someone over to open the window. I explained that I needed a refund because I've been waiting for 20 minutes and listening to everyone. She then informed the manager I wanted a refund and her response was," why?!" Went at 10pm through the drivethru. Sat at the speaker box for 6 minutes. Ordered 3 shooters. A shake and a lemonade. Daf in the line for another 12. Sat at the window for about 8 minutes without any recognition. Had to knock on the window to add a shake. Had no acknowledgement if they did or not. Was asked to pull up where we waited for another 10 minutes. Finally got out of the car and went inside. We had been waiting for about 26 minutes. Asked to talk to the manager who ha no interest in helping. Would have been easier to go inside or better yet. Not gone at all. To top it off the shakes were wrong and the sliders were cold. read more

I used to love steak and shake but the last 3 times were horrible the first time I waited over an hour for my milk shake while everyone at my table had theirs and when I finally got it it wasn't even the right one. The second time I came in with a few friends for a quick snack I got some chicken tenders they were under cooked and super tiny they re did it and then they came out cooked but even smaller the third time and the last time I'll ever go there we walked in and waited to be seated for over 10 mins all the workers walked by and didn't say a word to us and then a group of people walked in and were seated right away they completely ignored us and continued to do so so we left I can't believe it even the manager walked by and didn't even seat us. they lost a customer today, there was a very long dark hair on the outside of my shake. IT was NOT mine nor my co worker. This was near lunch time . My co worker waited over 20 mins .. The shake also had an odd taste to it as if the milk or dairy product was getting ready to spoil. my co workers shake tasted spoiled. When we call them they just kept haning up on us.
