I've only been to Steam for lunch and some drinks. It was a Saturday super nice day out and we decided to head in here to grab some food and naturally some drinks. Overall, the service was great and so was the food. Their brushetta app is delicious and very very big! I'm sure this won't be my last time here as it is close to my house and super popular. Was there tonight. Wife had short rib grilled cheese, very good. Daughter had wings and tator tots. Wings were good, tater tots did not make it to the table. I had fish and chips. Fish did not make it to table crispy, very soft, not crispy and not freshly fried. Fish inside was mushy, not flaky. Very unappetizing. I tried to power thru but knowing what fried fish should be I just stopped and accepted it was inedible. Shame, our 2nd time here, probably the last too. read more

I love the beer list here. They've got a pretty deep selection to choose from and they usually rotate out a few spotlighted beers. The food is good here as well. I would rank it somewhere definitely above standard bar fare. I highly recommend the cheesesteak spring rolls. They also bing out a bread plate before meals that comes with roasted red peppers, olives and a spread - I can't describe it completely in words, but imagine eating sweet oily heaven. That's how I would describe it. The downsides to Steam? It's a very popular spot in a pretty good area, so it's always busy and sometimes the servers take a long time (by no fault of their own). And the parking lot - I really dislike the parking situation there. Steam shares a parking lot with a bunch of other businesses and many of them have reserved spots for their own customers. We made it here finally, celebrating my birthday!! We had tired her twice before but the wait time was 30 minutes + and we were too hungry and couldn't wait. This time we made a reservation and of course it wasn't too crowded this time. The guys ordered cheesesteak egg rolls. They said they were very good. Steam made them with spring roll wrappers, usually they are made with wonton wrappers. MY mother-in-law and I had the scallop salad. It was very good, a little too much red peppers and only 3 sea scallops. I like the large scallops but three seemed too few. They were cooked perfect. My husband ordered a steak (no surprise there!) and it was cooked to order. That is one of my pet peeves! If you order medium it should be cooked medium. Great job by the kitchen staff. This was the 3rd time that I've been to Steam Pub and it definitely will not be the last. I would have given 5 stars because the food/ service here is impeccable, but a few small things influenced my lower rating. To share, we ordered honey hot wings and cheesesteak nachos. The wings, as usual, were fantastic- cooked well and bursting with flavor. The cheesesteak nachos had good flavor as well, but we all wished there was more meat in the dish. Everyone enjoyed their meals: pulled pork mac & cheese, pulled pork tacos, and the Philly Philly burger. I tried a spoonful of the mac and cheese and from what I could tell/ what my friend said, it was scrumptious. I did not try the tacos, but I have had them on a separate occasion and they were delicious then. The Philly Philly burger was exactly what I expected it to be- a cheesesteak in burger form. It's probably going to be my new go-to. $5 margarita drink of the day did not disappoint, along with the Strawberry Agave margarita (for those with a sweet tooth). The Cucumber Pear Mojito was great for a summer night, very light and refreshing. Lastly, desserts were hit or miss. We ordered the fried cheesecake, chocolate lava cake, and tiramisu. I have had the fried cheesecake before and I will likely continue to have it each time I come back. It's probably my favorite item, aside from the wings. The lava cake had good texture, but we're not fans of dark chocolate. If that's your thing, you'll love it. The tiramisu was a complete let down. Too soggy and sweet, it almost tasted like a mousse instead of a cake. To make matters worse, we realized once we left that we got charged twice for the tiramisu when we only ordered one. Personally, I think the desserts are pretty overpriced. For the size, $9 is insane, so the fact that we got charged extra for the dessert we didn't enjoy was disappointing. Excellent food. I've tried a number of things, but I come back very often for the Wass Burger special that they have every Tuesday. You get a delicious, well-made burger for just $6. It's much better and so much more worth it than a fast food burger, which costs a similar amount. Be aware that the burger costs almost double this on other days of the week, I believe. However, I think it'd still be worth it to come any other day if it's a one time thing, i.e. you're in town or passing by; the burger is just that good! The burger, especially on a Tuesday, is by itself worth 5 stars. I come here often enough for the burger that I forgot the full range of the other items I've had. I do remember a few things. The mozzarella wedges ($8) were decently good, but the minute they cool off and cheese is no longer stretchy, like any other mozzarella stick they aren't as good - so eat them quickly. The sesame tuna dish was amazing, but for $13 there was so little Ahi tuna that it didn't feel worth it. The Ahi tuna was the real star of the show (when eaten with a bit of wonton). But, it still wasn't worth it because of the very small amount of tuna provided. The Irish nachos were also pretty bad. They were incredibly salty. (Salty potato chips topped with salty cheese and salty bacon.) I wouldn't recommend them. The fried cheesecake is also awesome! The service is usually very good. The place often gets very busy with customers who are looking to have a sit-down, restaurant-style meal, and others who are looking to hang out at the bar and have a few drinks and snacks. The waiters are usually very accommodating and nice, though! I would definitely recommend giving this place a try. read more

This review is solely for the service. Yes the food here is amazing! The sriracha agave wings were perfectly crispy and full of flavor. The french dip was perfectly cooked and the fries were fresh. Me and my friends came on a Monday afternoon, wasn't crowded at all but the hostess was too busy on her phone to address us coming into the restaurant. We waited and waited and we ended up just seating ourselves because she didn't even acknowledge our existence. We waited a couple of minutes until our waitress came. It took a bit of time for our drinks to come out and we ended up walking around and getting our own silverware and napkins mid meal since we never received them after asking. The food was great but my order was wrong, but I didn't feel like waiting to get it corrected so I stayed silent. I will be back to try the other dishes on the menu but I hope to get a different server next time! read more

I love the atmosphere and service here. They also have great late night specials too. Mondays are 50c wings and $5 cheesesteak. The wings were alright, but for that price, can't beat it. The cheesesteak was super flavorful and meaty for the price, but a bit on the drier side. Overall, not bad for a suburban cheesesteak. I also ordered the Pickford Panini, which I wasn't very fond of. They were generous in terms of cheese and portion, but the panini seriously lacked flavors. It was so bland that I had to dip the entire sandwich into the leftover sauce from the wings to trick my tastebuds. Overall, a pretty decent place to grab a quick bite and meet up with friends. I wore a Celtics jersey to steam, coming from another bar watching the game, and got immediately heckled outside of the bar. I thought it was fun and games until I saw the look in the guys eyes, and i began getting followed around the parking lot. The bouncer with the big beard was literally egging on a fight between the guy pictured below and I, and I believe that he was trying to get a rise out of me so that I defend myself, giving them a reason to hop on me and fight more. The bouncer with the beard kept telling me "maybe don't wear a Celtics jersey", as if this interaction was my fault, and I could not have felt more threatened. Thankfully, I had a friend there, as well as a random Good Samaritan who saw what was happening and was kind enough to interfere. The bouncer did not do anything to protect me, and on the contrary was actually egging on a fight. No wonder someone was shot recently at this venue. Hoping they see this and the bearded bouncer loses his job because he is not protecting anything over there. read more

This place is a sold 3.5 stars. The staff members were very attentive through the entire night--even with the massive size of the restaurant. While we did not dine on the patio, it appeared to be a nice outdoor space for a date night or to hangout with the family. Inside is more of a sports bar atmosphere, but you are not overwhelmed with memorabilia and TVs on every wall--like some sports bars can be. Now on to the food/ drinks... the drink menu was extensive and they were all as advertised. Nothing over the top fancy or expensive, but they were all good combination/ great roaring draft selection. The food itself was bad. That is simply the best way to put it. Nachos I could have made at home in the microwave, and a burger that looked like one of the frozen ones you get at Walmart. Was trying to decide what to eat with the wife tonight and remembered Steam and was a few miles away I have read great reviews on yelp and drive by about 3-4 times a month so tonight I'm here. The staff is friendly and very attentive remember it's Monday night 3 hours before the game and there is about 10-15 people here ordered a rum and coke and a fuzzy navel no matter where I go I have rarely got a rum and coke where its perfect either heavy rum or coke but perfection kudos to the bartender. Wife ordered the caprese flatbread and I ordered the Brad fox berger rare totally off the hook delicious. Will stop in again and ask for Brian if he's on world class server. read more

Steam is a welcome addition to the neighborhood and a place at which we hope to become regulars. We visited Steam on its second day of operation. Impressed were we with the enthusiastic and attentive waitstaff, the gracious space, extensive beer selection and some portions of our meal. Because Steam is new, we will forgive its missteps. We offer as constructive criticism the following: The noise level was uncomfortably high and some sound deadening measures are necessary. We left with headaches and ringing ears. My husband enjoyed his roast beef sandwich au jus, while my Italian chicken panini needed some adjustments. Most glaringly, the roll was pressed from side to side and not top to bottom. What resulted was a rather twisted mess, which was impossible to pick up. The chicken itself was succulent and flavorful, but the pesto was all but absent and the roasted peppers were barely a decorative garnish. The handcut fries were missing the Parmesan cheese and were tepid when served. While Steam gets credit for using housemade croutons, about 40% of my husband's side Caesar was croutons. The bottom line is that with a tweaks and Steam could become a GREAT addition to the 'hood. Fingers crossed that Steam lives up to its promise. read more

I've been trying to bring my boyfriend here for months; we loved everything! We ordered the chili, which had the slightest kick to it; it was perfect. For our entree, we ordered the Wass burger and turkey burger. So delicious! The Apple slices and brie went together perfectly, as well as the cranberry mayo. As a first timer, I was pleasantly surprised by Steam, the railroad car-looking restaurant/pub on 2nd Street Pike in Southampton, Pa. The Friday night crowd was loud, but friendly. The bar was long and packed. The dining tables seemed to turn over quickly enough without a reservation. We waited about 20 minutes for a deuce hightop mid-floor. The service dudes were all "can do!" My burger was very good and required knife and fork as I could never open my jaws wide enough to capture it in a bite. My companion's sliders were also tasty. The French Onion Soup was decent, but not the strongest entry of the evening. Steam (suggestive of the locomotive steam engine), appears to have a successful formula. Space, fairly priced drinks($5 margaritas, beer specials), a long happy hour, and an above average bar menu. Live music, too. I will likely be back. read more

Wow where to start... It's hard to put my finger on one bad thing... Let's see the "bouncer" asking for 2 forms of ID? Really I'm almost 30, is my license with my picture not enough? Was it walking in to deafening music? Yes I understand that they have live music, but trying to blow the windows out was a bit much, making it louder does not make it better... Maybe it was the CHEESEsteak that I was served with no cheese? Or the lying waitress that told me they would remake it completely? They took it back, put half a slice of cheese on it and brought it back, I marked it, same one that was supposedly replaced. The "beer list" that is the most common 50 beers I could think of? Or that the 2nd beer was served in a small plastic cup? Again WOW!!! I don't know where to start! I do know that I'll never be back and I'll spread the word! One upside, I did get 10% off of $40 for writing a review, thanks! Scratch that, 10% of food only, it did say 10% your BILL not food only... And they have to take your phone to the manager for the deal, guess he can't come and check it at the table. If the manager did I could have told him about my experience... I got mozarella wedges which was cheesy goodness and a veggie burger, which was surprisingly good since I don't usually trust home made patties. It's good pub fare, but we went on a Saturday night which was a bit rowdy. (and they also have indoor dining available outside of the city of philadelphia). overall, it was a good experience, this county does allow indoor dining, so if you are comfortable with it - this place definitely gets a 4/5, but it was a little too packed for my comfort. the owner just let me know about the strict covid precautions that they were following, which reassured me about their safety. read more

Came here as a pseudo-celebration now that the wife can drive again after a month off! We were in the mood for tater-tots but did not want to have to drive all the way past the Philadelphia Airport for the best tots we've ever had, so a search for tater tots showed Yelp giving us Steam. We were very happy with the restaurant! We were here for an early lunch about 11:30am on an off-from-work President's day. Only one other couple was in the brightly lit place (right next to the tracks...an old railroad car, maybe?) Long and skinny with lots of TVs, very long bar, and nice wood floors with a lot of tables and a few booths. Bathrooms are plenty and to the end on the left of the facility. The place overall seemed clean, but I ended up remembering my days as a dishwasher many years ago and smelling the cleaning products used over the smells of the really good food. We had too much to eat, but all of it was very good! Started with the tots plain which were nice and crisp, and did not have an overdone grease taste or smell to them. They went fast. We also had a hummus platter which included a scoop (I'm pretty certain these were not scratch made) of three types of hummus on a platter of plenty of pita bread, and very fresh vegetables of roasted red pepper, nice long slices of cucumber, olives, and cheese. This was very good, too. Wife had a Caesar salad which was average, and she thought the dressing was not tasting like Caesar that much. She also had a tomato/mozzarella flatbread which mostly went home with us. She said it was extremely tasty with the balsamic drizzle on it. I went with the signature burger medium rare which was awesome. It came with fries or a side salad which you can upcharge to a "premium" salad which is what I did. The Chop-Chop salad was great with a nice dressing with oranges, candied nuts, and I subbed goat cheese for feta. Again, we ate too much and brought some home with us for later. Service was really nice and friendly. With two Cokes (yea!) the bill came to about $60 for two. A Yelp Check-In got us 10% off if we ended up sending $40 which we did easily. Very happy with Steam. Ambiance/Decor/Atmosphere: Bar up front, seating area to the back and sides. On a Saturday evening the lights were turned down a bit to the point it was a little dark for my tastes. Otherwise Steam is quite trendy and upscale with a bit of hipster charm to make it work. Steam avoids cover bands and showcases local live bands as well as local artwork on the wall that's available for purchase. Noise/sound level: HOLY OMFGWTF!!!! Put a bullhorn to your ear and scream...then plug in the amplifier and raise the volume to the max and that's Steam on a Saturday night. This is about the only real negative I have, you're basically screaming at your dining partners to hold a conversation and go home with a sore throat. Menu: Not too big, not too small, carefully crafted to peak the interest of any diner. Service: Very good service, friendly, warm, quick but not pushy, good with suggestions and recommendations, if you know the right people they take care of you as well. ;) Food: Delicious, home cooked meal that any diner can tell the chef is cooking from his heart. Fresh, eccentric, and eclectic offerings that could demand a higher price if in the city. Bar: Stocked to the gills with any type of liquor you could want. Also, more beer than I've ever seen in my life; Steam rotates a huge variety of drafts and bottles throughout the seasons. Price: Typical of a trendy establishment but not super expensive unless you're drinking yourself into a coma. Overall: Quite the popular place, on a Saturday evening we waited about 30 minutes which was acceptable. It was packed like a can of sardines and the bar area was about four deep each stool. So this was my second visit here, both on a Saturday night. Place does a solid business and takes reservations. Definitely a solid 4 stars for food and drinks for pub type venue. The first time I tried Steam was in the fall of '15. Four of us sat at the bar for drinks and apps. Two of us shared the hummus app & the risotto croquettes. Both were great and filling enough that we didn't need to order anything else. The bartender had a great personality and was on the ball, despite being really busy. Ran into 2 other couples that we knew, who both raved about the place, and had a really fun night. Live music started at 9 or 10pm and the place was jam packed. This time we got there early enough to get a table without a reservation. The March Madness was down to the final four & the guys wanted to watch the Villanova game- plenty of TVs, so we were all happy. They have a large and diverse menu for both food and drinks. They feature beer from local breweries and a fair selection of wine. I started with a white cosmo; it was done well. For dinner, I had the Spanish chicken off the special menu. Grilled chicken breast, topped with pico de gallo, cilantro sour cream, grilled asparagus and a quinoa/black bean salad with cilantro. It was very good. The hubs had the shepherd's pie; he thoroughly enjoyed it- right size portion, not too big. Our companions shared the portobello with crab cake and they said it was good. I was eye stalking the food coming out all night. The table next to us got the veggie flatbread. It was huge, with big hunks of veggies; it looked yummy...maybe next time...
