I don't want to give a low rating to a new business, it just seems unfair to them. But I am sorry to say that this place isn't my cup of tea. I also take into consideration that this is a PUB and not a normal restaurant setting... But the somewhat narrow but very long dining room and small tables with VERY VERY over bearing loud noise and mediocre foods... So, in resume: After one month, the Waiting time is still LONG, service is SLOW and food is MEDIOCRE! Absolutely wonderful. Service could not have been better. Waiter was very personable and helpful. Started out with an appetizer of garlic/herb/Parmesan tater tots. Just felt like trying something different and not something you see on many menus. They were cooked perfectly. Crispy outside and moist center. My wife thinks I'm a bit crazy for thinking the tater tots were marvelous but it was a great start to the meal. I had the prime rib special and my wife had the seafood pot. Kids had Mac n cheese and pizza. They both enjoyed it, especially due to our waiter talking directly to them as if they were any other customer. If it weren't for a two hour drive I would mark it as a monthly eatery. There are many more meals on the menu that we want to try and we will find a way to come back. read more

The food is okay. Nothing special. The portion of fries I got with my cheesesteak was pitiful. Was like getting a kids meal fry with my cheesesteak and only two pickles. I had been here years ago just a few times for drinks at the bar and had no complaints then. We were back in the area yesterday and decided to go for lunch. 2 girlfriends and 2 babies. We went around 4pm on a Monday.. there were some people there but overall not very crowded at all. Staff looked bored. Upon entering, the hostesses were not very friendly. Just blah. We were seated at our table and then brought dirty high chairs. I would typically not bother anyone and just clean it myself but our hands were full and I asked the hostess to take care of it. Before we even remotely settled - not even sitting down yet .. the server came and asked for a drink order. She immediately gave off the impression that she was thoroughly annoyed with having our table. As I always share in any of the rare negative reviews that I write, I've worked as a server myself for years. Restaurants very similar to Steam even. Ive seen a lot and I'm probably one of the most patient, understanding and easy going customers you'll have. Because I GET IT. We just couldn't help but to feel SO unwelcome by our server and that she was SO annoyed, rude, curt, monotone and disgusted. I even lightly told her we'd kind of be in slow motion etc. because we were juggling the kids during the meal. I would think that takes some pressure off the server letting them know that we're not high demand and will just be going with the flow for our meal. Tried other small talk too, killing HER with kindness to see if she'd lighten up .. NOTHING. There were 2 guys working as servers I believe that were SUPER friendly. (Both with dark hair & facial hair - one tall, one shorter) One greeted us enthusiastically when we first arrived to the table and the other came over several times to make small talk, try to get the kids to give high fives etc. He recognized my friend I was with from her previous visits to Steam. As far as food goes .. Nachos were ok. My salad was not very impressive .. fig goat cheese salad ? .. with sporadically placed dressing, barely any goat cheese, super minimal spinach but tons of figs and way too many of those weird dried apricots that grandmas eat. My friend mainly fed her son and boxed her own food to go. She was happy with her food. We were never offered desert. Never thanked by the server for our business. I usually tip 30% .. clean up every last morsel my kid dropped, clean up my table and stack my plates (can't help myself) but I couldn't wait to get out of there and away from the server so I didn't go above and beyond. Hostesses also stared at us with smug looks a majority of our meal. Weird. I think you guys have a decent place .. just need to cut the dead weight. I won't blow up our servers spot. Great place for a lite fare brunch! Service is 9/10 times good, unless the waitress decides to personally insult you over your pleasant request that ice be in your cold brew coffee. This was a spur of the moment decision to eat here. I was driving past and was like "never been there before". The food was good, not too salty. Burger came out medium rare as ordered. No complaints. Typically out of the way for me so I don't know how often I'll return but it's on the list of places that can cook a burger medium rare and for this time around not over seasoned (a pet peeve of mine). Went for a 2nd visit with family and boy glad I did! Broccoli and Cheddar soup was hit, French Onion Soup was awesome, I really enjoyed my Shepherd's pie entrée loaded with meat and mashed! ! And the cup of coffee was one of the best I've ever had, go figure? Service was top notch and the bar was hoping! Def a hit with local singles scene. It's a unique place that's a good time. That's important. The food is also fantastic. However, I do have a few issues with this place though. On weekends, it can be very difficult to move around when its crowded. Since the set up is a train car, you can imagine that the bar would be narrow. Another issue is the bathroom situation. Both the men and women's restroom's have a single toilet. This causes massive lines for the bathroom. Despite the drawbacks, I have a lot of fun there. read more

It's not a fancy place by any means, but the food menu is great, the beer selection is on point, and the mixed drink selection is good as well. Today's lunch wasn't the first or last time I've visited Steam. But it was the first time I had questionable service. The hostess was super nice, making sure we had an out of the way table for our sleeping son in his car seat. Our server seemed like he was in a bad mood. After asking him 4 times for water I just asked someone else for it. My husband and I waited 15 minutes after our drink order to order our food. Not that we didn't know what we wanted, it just took that long to flag him down. It wasn't crazy busy it seemed like he had too many tables spread across the restaurant. The food runner brought our food and it was delicious. My husband said his was one of the best burgers he's ever had. My Buffalo chicken wrap was great partly bc of blue cheese dressing with lots of blue cheese. Our server wouldn't have known because he didn't ask how things were until asking if we were ready for the check. Hopefully his day got better because if he was at all interested in being there he hid it very well. read more

So I went back to Steam Pub, after the owner very kindly sent me a gift card, based on my unplesant experience there last time - totally awesome and great customer service! I took a gf of mine and we went on a Wednesday night - little did we know about Steam's AWESOME Wednesday night deal - one app, two entrees and a dessert for $30!! Now, normally when places do this, the menu has two choices and neither are good - NOPE. Literally two pages of choices and just an amazing selection of apps and entrees! We were so excited and ordered the brushetta as an app, the risotto cake entree and a chicken entree. All were absolutely delicious! The sauces, the garnish, the sides - all awesome! I was very impressed and would definitely come back, especially on a Wednesday night! As a "good customer service" note - my friend ordered a blood orange cosmo - it was delish! Then she ordered a second - it came and looked weird - she took a sip and it was awful. We grabbed the waitress and she apologized and quickly took it back and had "the other bartender" remake it. Brings it back two minutes later and it's perfect... So I have to say - Steam on a Wednesday night is the place to be! Go by and check out their awesome $30 dinner for two special! Went for the first time for the Sunday Brunch. The food was fabulous. Regular breakfast items and some really neat different items on the menu. Restaurant was clean. Julia was our waitress and she was extremely nice. Good arrived at the table hot and you get plenty of food. Definitely heading back there soon. Try the breakfast burger or the chicken and waffles. We have come here fairly often and usually have decent food and decent service. We stopped in tonight as it was Hubbys birthday, service by Haley was horrendous. After we ordered drinks and they were delivered, had to ask for a glass with the beer and Splenda for the ice tea, we waited at least 10 min for these to show up and glass was warm, I asked her if they do chilled glasses and she said they were out, REALLY!!!, this is a bar restaurant, all you need to do is run a wet glass into the ice chest to get it cold. Food was good as usual, not outstanding but good. You really need to redo that Cole slaw recipe though, gross. I would have spoken to a manager if I had seen anyone who looked older than 25. Waitresses need to be told that hanging out together at the desk is not how it's done. read more
