After visiting Sesame Place, we were starving for some GOOD food. This place was amazing. I had the Tuscan chicken served on risotto with three sauces. The portion was huge and it was delicious! My son had the mac and cheese that he scarfed down as quickly as it appeared in front of him. The peach-passion fruit mojito was flavorful. Our waiter, Bahar, was an absolute delight. He interacted with our three year old, was funny, made our dining experience enjoyable and made menu suggestions that were delectable. Went here on Father's Day 2017. Got a table right away. Place can be a little loud with the all the TVs and the open ceiling. Wait staff was competent but nothing to rave about. I had the Mandarin Salmon with Scallion Rissotto (very good!), daughter had Fish Tacos and son had Chicken Parm. Son and I had Devils Backbone Vienna Lager (Mmmm, tasty!). I recently ate a shrimp taco from Steam and it was not anything amazing. While the picture looked delicious what I ended up with was a cold dish and iceburg lettuce. It didn't even have the toppings on it when I went there I had to add them all myself. I was not very impressed and the service was okay. First don't judge them by their parking lot...it's shared. Oh so pleasantly surprised, I'd heard good things...from 24 year olds. Went in expecting a beer and a sandwich. ..nope. Most especially not with that menu. They even have a twist on Nachos. .yeah go look it up. Had a blood orange margarita, nicely done not overly sweet(a rarity). Waiter knew his menu so I went with just dinner, got the Caprice flat bread. Crisp and flavorful, nice balance of ingredients mozzarella was nice and mild the pesto popped. About 10" so big nuff to share as an app or a meal for one hungry individual. Steam is awesome! They have great burgers and during certain seasons "All you can eat crab legs." They have both food and drink specials every night of the week that are totally reasonable and many craft beers on draft. The building is set up really neat and resembles an old train car or something. They have a pinball machine which I always think is cool. The staff is always really nice and friendly too! read more

Steam is always my go-to for heartfelt food or a fun night out. The food and service is always consistent and the atmosphere is laid back, unique and definitely the best in the area. They have the best wings I've ever had and the "Wass" burger is an 11. We went to Steam for the Mother's Day Brunch yesterday. The food at Steam is always fantastic and the Mother's Day Brunch is always great. This year was really special with a beautiful ice sculpture, fresh flowers and an unbelievable variety of wonderful food. From great breakfast foods to fantastic lunch/dinner foods. There was no way to sample everything. We ate mostly the breakfast foods (made to order omelets and yummy cinnamon French toast). My son had the fresh carved roast beef which of course I tasted and it was so flavorful. We love going here on Mother's Day or any time for lunch and dinners. Food is fantastic, ambience is great, floorplan is very open, and service is extremely attentive. My wife had a Blind Melon, which was a satisfying combo of Leinenkugel shandy, watermelon liquor, and watermelon vodka. For the appetizer we had cheesesteak nachos, which offered a good amount of steak and cheese without going overboard. For dinner we had a Wass Burger, which was well cooked with a pleasing combination of sauce and toppings, and a Cuban panini, which was a spicy yet delicious take on a Cuban sandwich. My girlfriend and I have heard about how good Steam is and finally decided to try it out and we absolutely loved it and we were left wondering what took us so long eat here . The layout inside is really cool. We didn't have reservations but we were seated very quickly. Their drink list has so many drinks and their draft list is extensive and is great for a beer coniseur. They have the best happy hour in the area. I tried the Funk citrus IPA and my girlfriend tried the white Cosmo and both were great. Now on to the food, we were total cliche first time customers and asked our server, Bahar, to reccomend some items off their menu because their food menu is very extensive as well and boy was he right. For appetizer he suggested the roast beef sliders which were phenomnal. For our entrees I had the Wass burger which is probably one of the best burgers I have ever had. My girlfriend had the Tuscan chicken which was delicious as well. All in all we will definitely be back to try more drinks on the menu as well as the Wass burger which I can't wait to eat again. Steam is a regular place for my family, as we live only five minutes away. This is my favorite pub in the area. They have better quality food than the average pub, and even some artistic flair depending on what you order. You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu, I've eaten almost all of it. They have a great special on Wednesday all you can eat crabs for $27.99 and corona $3. I would give it a five but when we got there, they were out of crabs and out of corona drinks. Quality Update 4JUL2017: My Wife and I returned to Steam Pub with another couple about a month ago. As usual, the food was absolutely excellent and the kitchen staff should be commended and given a raise for their efforts. I'm not sure what mastermind is behind the scenes at Steam Pub, but it would be a great loss if the creative genius that built the menu moved on from this restaurant; you know it's a good selection when you can not decide what to get because everything looks delicious! I'd like to amend my original review for this establishment. After my critical review, the management reached out to me about a year ago and understandably wanted to make things right after my two poor visits like any good restaurant owner/manager should. I have a lot of respect for that, but I did not feel that it was appropriate to accept; I pridefully paid for my meals and left tips at the time without addressing management about my visits like I should have, so the fault is on me for not raising concerns at the appropriate time. However, I did promise that I would return to Steam Pub in due course for their innovative, delicious, and reasonably priced fare despite the poor service I received. I am pleased to report that the most recent visit to Steam was pleasant and enjoyable! Our server was attentive and made us feel comfortable with his witty, humorous personality. Wooders (waters; Philly area folks only drink wooder you know) were delivered to the table just after we sat down and were refilled numerous times during the meal so that a few drinks could be managed during the stay. It's quite a shame when a poor server can tarnish an experience when the food and hostesses are so favorable, but I will gladly say that the waiter lived up to the expectations during this visit. We had a great time and were tended to just the right amount: enough to ask for more service when required but not too much to be bothersome. Kudos to you, Steam Pub, for giving your servers the appropriate training and tools to offer excellent service to your guests. I typically take great pleasure in cooking dinner for myself and my wife, but will happily return to Steam Pub when convenience calls to enjoy your welcoming host staff, attentive servers, and inspired cuisine! Original Review 9JUL2016: First off, the food here is excellent and that's usually the part that's difficult to get right. Kitchen staff gets an A+: well done ladies and gentlemen behind closed doors. Hostesses have been bubbly, cordial, and accommodating: keep up the good work. Restaurant is clean and decor is fitting. Now for the bad news: the waitstaff service here has been HORRENDOUS. Both times that we have been to Steam pub, we have been granted the pleasure of having the same inattentive waiter "tend" to our table. I thought maybe the first time was a fluke, maybe the restaurant was busy, maybe the guy was new...I get it. But there is no excuse when the service was even worse the second go around months later with the restaurant being only about half-full. From being in the restaurant business for a number of years, here are a few basic skills that any good server should practice: 1. If it's a small table, bring a few waters over when you introduce yourself so customers do not have to wait for you to go get lost and find your way back 10 minutes later with waters. Everyone always wants water anyways. 2. Take note when your customers close their menus; this means they are ready to order. 3. When the customer has to give you their drink order with their dinner order, it means you took too long to check in. 4. If someone else is going to bring out a customer's food (food runner), you should come over immediately to make sure everything came out satisfactorily, not halfway into the meal. 5. When clearing DINNER plates from the table after everyone is done eating their meals, the busboy should not have to be reminded of the server's failure to bring out the PRE-MEAL bread plate. At least we didn't have to order dessert. 6. A smart owner should train their servers to look for ways to increase their check without being a used car salesman. This earns the restaurant more money, earns the server more tips, and keeps the customer happy by asking if extras/a refill/premium spirits/dessert is desired. A customer has NO desire to add to the check when a refill or a dessert order would take forever to be delivered. A customer will absolutely not continue to drink alcohol (high profit item) if adequate water or food is not available. The bottom line is: The entire waitstaff, restaurant/reputation, and customer all lose when there is a bad waiter. I would be pretty pissed off about this if I were the owner. This is a business where people vote with their wallets; either bad eggs need to be trained and brought up to speed OR let go. It's that simple. read more

Steam was amazing! Went here for the night while at a softball tournament for my daughter. We do not live around here, but after reading the wonderful reviews about steams we had to go! Living in New Jersey, it is very hard to find any restaurant out of state that has good fountain soda, but steams sure did! The design setting of steams was so cool, it made you feel like you were at a real authentic rail road cafe. My daughter and I split the app of the chili nachos - so fresh and yummy. I got the Cubano panini, very tasty but a little too bready. My daughter got a burger and fries, loved it. Our waiter, James, was so quick and very polite. Overzealous bartender that needs a head check. Was there on Friday with a few couples and my wife orders her second drink. #2!! And Napoleon the bartender cuts her off! This young, skinny guy with a pony tail not only cuts my wife off, but 2 people next to us that we were conversing with. There were no problems, no one was being obnoxious and this guy is cutting people off for no apparent reason. Never saw anything like it before. I asked calmly why my wife got cut off as I thought it was a mistake. He snapped back at me and said, "its my call, and if you give me any sh*t, you're next!" We all just left and went to another place instead of spending our money at this place. My buddy went there and told me the SAME thing happened. He was blown away. I had the privilege of frequenting steam on a recent business trip and I must say, everything was fantastic! I sat at the bar and always try new beers on my travels. I asked the bartender about a good ipa and was recommended the rock art twin tip... A great choice! After skimming the menu I settled on the flat iron steak. As I waited for my meal an acoustic band began to play and set the mood for the night. They played songs ranging from the 70s all the way to today. The music made my wait for my steak that much better. When my steak arrived it was accompanied with a provolone mac and cheese and lightly drizzled with a tri-berry relish. The steak was cooked perfectly and the Mac and cheese complimented it extremely well! In my recent travels to the east coast I haven't found a more enjoyable place to spend a few hours... Plus grab a bite and brew! I will definitely return next time I'm in town and tell everyone I know that steam is a top notch place and a great time. read more

Had dinner with my family last night at Steam. We were so impressed with the service, food and atmosphere. We ordered 3 apps which were to die for. The hummus, filet and gnocchi and the crab stuffed pretzel. We were also served a dish to munch on while we waited for our apps that consisted of olives, roasted peppers and I believe it was a cheese spread and bread for dipping.....so delicious. Our meals came, the plates beautifully presented, there was plenty of food on the plates and the flavor impeccable. Every course was served at the right pace. Some places you go to serve you your apps and 5 minutes later, here comes your dinner. Our server, Ally, was knowledgeable of the menu as well as when it was the right time to bring our main course. I was very impressed with her filling our water before we had to ask and checking on our drinks before the glass or bottle dried out. Everyone at the table raved about the food. Steam team...keep doing what it is you do. I've been there for drinks, apps and now dinner and have yet to be disappointed. You're definitely on my top 3 list! Myself and four friends encountered a bouncer at the steps before the front door. He had his back turned, conversing with other patrons, and because he was away from his post, we didn't even think he worked there. As we erroneously passed him, he turned to face us, and spoke profanely towards us. He appeared to have been drinking. Upon reviewing our licenses, the bouncer treated us very rudely ("no ------- way this is you"), acting intimating, with such embarrassingly blatant and outspoken distrust of our ages. I don't mind if the bouncer needs to doublecheck our ages with a second ID, but the manner in which he handled the situation was extremely unprofessional. To cross check our ages, the bouncer took our IDs, passed them around to the plastered patrons with whom he was previously conversing, and mocked us (he and his cronies insulted my friend, telling him he "needs to start working out"). Eventually he let us pass into the establishment, but the evening was ruined. Being insulted by a bouncer and a group of his wasted friends was unjust, so we left after just a few minutes.
