One of our favorite things to do with my wife and dog is walk around Old Sac. We do it a lot for dog socializing, but this weekend we showed up with another mission... breakfast. We finally decided to check out Steamers and really enjoyed it! The spot is small but super cute and has a cozy little vibe to it. We ordered two breakfast croissant sandwiches along with guava mimosas... and honestly, no explanation is needed there. That combo already speaks for itself. Another huge plus was that our dog was able to hang out with us in the outside seating area. I will say the patio space is a little tight, so just keep that in mind if you're bringing a dog. Luckily, Lobo is basically a retired old man trapped in a younger dog's body, so he just relaxed the whole time. Overall, it was a great first experience. Good food, good drinks, and a nice little morning spot in Old Sac. We'll definitely be back again on another weekend morning. read more

Don't go if you don't want to feel icky. My husband and I stopped in for a light breakfast on a recent trip to Sacramento. He ordered pancakes to share & coffee; I had a mocha. The pancakes weren't cooked all the way (like, literally still raw, wet, cold batter in the middle). How hard is it to make pancakes?! My mocha was burnt and the only alternative to cow's milk they had was almond, so it was also pretty thin & watery with very little flavor. Watery, burnt mocha does not equal happiness. I didn't taste my husband's coffee but he said it was nothing special. I also wanted to wash my hands when we got there. I asked for the restroom code but once I was inside, I wasn't too confident. The restroom looked like it hadn't had a thorough clean in a LONG TIME. Dirt. Grime. Mildew. I didn't want to touch anything after I washed my hands. Then when I came back out to the eating area, I started noticing all the dirt & grime & general untidiness of the whole place. I'm not a germaphobe, but I do want a place that's preparing food I'm going to eat to be clean. But every surface in this place was sticky or oily or dirty. We like to try local places when we travel, and it was recommended by the hotel, so we were pretty disappointed. If you want a clean eating establishment with edible food & nice coffee, I would look elsewhere. I wouldn't come back here if you paid me. read more

We came to Old Sac early for the St. Patrick's Day parade and decided to have breakfast at Steamers. We ordered at the counter and decided to eat outside on a beautiful Saturday morning. The main reason I came here was for the Irish Coffee. I had my first ever two years back at the last St. Patrick's parade and loved it. Right amount of whiskey that's wasn't too overpowering so good. The pancakes I ordered were fluffy and the bacon and eggs were nice. She enjoyed her Denver Omelet's fresh veggies. I always enjoy stopping here for coffee whenever I visit Old Sac. Went with some lovely ladies to Steamers. Ordered our food and sat outside. I ordered a vegetable omelette with tater tots. Aimee had pancakes, Ms. Baradat had a breakfast burrito and Selene had breakfast sandwich. Everyone said their food was just "Okay". My omelette was bland and needed more seasoning, at least to me. First off it's open on Sunday morning earlier than the other restaurants, so there's that. It's a great place to grab a quick breakfast or lunch (they are Not open for dinner), tater tots instead of hashbrowns. I had the breakfast sandwich on croissant and added spinach cuz I needed some greens. Nicely prepared; my eggs weren't overly cooked nor under. Service was good and they have Bloody Marys and Irish coffees if you would care to partake in early morning libations as well as mimosas. You can sit on the outside patio which I did just to be outside (it was a beautiful day) can't pass that opportunity to enjoy the outside. I am giving this place 3 Stars and here's why... The antique decor in here is so cool, picture worthy. I hope this is not the norm for this place but the coffee was so bad, we had to send it back. It tasted stale and acidic to the max. We thought it might have been the syrup but we changed our drinks and it was the same. The employee behind the counter was very nice though. She didn't give us a hard time about it nor were we rude about the coffee. I wish I had something better to say. I am not an expert so not going to offer my theories on why the coffee was bad but I hope it was figured out and just a one off. Written with good intentions. read more

Visited December 18th..see my receipt as always. The location is perfect at the old waterfront Sacramento as it's right across from the hotel! They open at 8am and it's always very clean inside. We were here on Saturday morning. It was busy, but not slammed. There were lots of people having breakfast. There were a couple tables inside and a couple more outside that were free. We took a high top table with no stools. We were second in line, so it wasn't bad. We ordered the banana nut muffin. It was dry and over $4. Not worth it. We'll have to order something different next time. They are the only coffee shop in Old Sac so everyone is here. Prices are really steep here, it's probably due to it's a tourist area. My husband also got a thai tee Mocha, He said it was really good. There are not strategically placed garbage cans around, so everyone was piling up their trash and dirty dishes on one of their barrels. I took a long look around and finally realized they have a water station in the back next to a recycling can, but no trash can. read more

Happening spot with a friendly, efficient staff. Order and pay, pick a table inside or out and your food is delivered to you fairly quickly. We both had the mushroom, fresh spinach, carmelized onion and cheese omelet which was hearty and tasty. The potatoes were bland so didn't eat them but the omelet alone was worth the price. Steamers has very tasty hamburgers, I just tried their panino so delicious turkey and bacon the pesto on the sourdough bread hit the spot!!! The inside is big with plenty of seating even seating outside two big wall mounted TV's great natural lighting and a bathroom. The two times I came to Steamers I was helped by Daniel great personality and customer service he always has a smile and makes you feel welcomed. We came in here for a nice cold drink. I ordered the Cold Chi Latte and it was delicious and not badly priced. There was a little bit of a wait but they were getting orders put quickly. The bathroom is clean and locked which is nice because you can trust the cleanliness. We met the owner and he was super friendly and respectful. I'm glad we came upon Steamers! We arrived for breakfast, and it was one of the only places open so we headed in for food and coffee. The menu is full of yummy items, coffee, shakes, and they had some breakfast specials. Here you order at the counter, and they bring your food to your table when it's ready. The food came out really fast. The servers and front counter staff were so friendly and welcoming! I enjoyed one of their Açaí bowls, Naughty and Nice. It was delicious and filling! I also had an iced coffee which was great. The inside seating was small but we managed to get a large table. There are a lot of fun photos and resin memorabilia to check out while you're waiting for food. I would definitely return to Steamers. read more

The coffee was $6 -- not a huge difference from other places nearby that charge $5, but enough to make me pause and expect something a little better in return. Unfortunately, it didn't deliver. The interior had a damp smell -- like old wood or moisture -- which made it hard to enjoy the space. It just didn't feel cozy or inviting. The whole atmosphere felt a bit sad and worn-out. My family and I were strolling along through Old Sac one morning and happened to see a long line out the door. We were curious and saw that it was a restaurant. We decided to give Streamers a chance and try it. The location is phenomenal. It's in the heart of Old Sac a couple of steps away from Evangeline's and the river. The interior feels old. Not old as in 1800's because the whole area is relatively old! More like old in the sense that the last time it was renovated was probably the mid 80's. It has a bit of classic diner charm. The service is good. You select your table and then order in line. Sometimes they bring your food to you and other times they yell your name from the register and you have to pick up your own food. It's not a full service establishment but the staff was still friendly nonetheless. Even though they were quite busy, we were able to get our food within 10ish minutes. The prices are about average. I'd say you can walk out of here for around $25 for a meal for two and be decently full. The portion sizes are satisfying enough to where you don't really feel like I want another dish. The flavor is what takes the cake here. I was surprised that such a unsuspecting restaurant like this could have food this good. It is really a sleeper candidate for top 5 brunch spots in Sacramento for me. The burger was juicy. The San which was crispy and packed with flavor. Even the side of salad was tasteful! I'm so glad I discovered Steamers on my trip to Sacramento. I went there twice on my trip, and I never go to the same place twice on vacation. Their breakfast biscuit sandwiches are the best I have ever tasted. The biscuit is perfection. They must be made fresh every day. So buttery and flakey and just the right size. The sandwich has the perfect ratio of biscuit, egg, cheese and meat. You can't go wrong with the bacon or sausage as the meat. I also had a chance to try a couple of the pastries as well. I had the apple strudel and the coffee cake. Both were delectable pastries that are right up there with the best versions of those pastries I've eaten. The staff at Steamers was so nice and friendly. I came in this morning at 11:02. Was told that they couldn't make breakfast two minutes after 11. It didn't matter that they had a stack of sausage and bacon already on the window. I ordered a burger with an egg they said ok, ok that's not what I wanted. So then changed my order to a BLT with an egg, for which I was told I couldn't order because that combo is considered breakfast. Then the cashier left for a solid 6 minutes to drop off food and water to customers. All while a barista was standing around doing nothing.
