I'm beginning to notice a pattern: these aren't cookie-cutter restaurants. They have personality, a playful spirit, and the feeling that some people actually enjoy creating places where people want to gather and belong. Imagine a classic neighborhood diner that wandered into an arcade, picked up some incredible art, and decided everyone should just be happy. The staff are genuinely welcoming, the portions are generous, the comfort food gives solace, and breakfast lovers can rejoice because it's served all day. Whether you're there for a hearty meal or simply soaking up the atmosphere, Roc & Sol has earned its loyal following for good reason. A special note on Janah and Alicia (pictured), who made our family breakfast feel like more than just a meal. With effortless expertise, warm conversation, and infectious energy, these adrenaline junkies created the kind of experience that keeps people wanting more. They seemed to feed off the positive energy they shared with their guests--and gave even more in return. If Twisted Track Station surprised me by the genius of Crazy Matt, his family, and his people, Roc & Sol convinced me it wasn't a fluke. Sacramento needs more restaurants with this much heart.

We stopped here on our way from Yuba River. It was time for a quick lunch and we had skipped breakfast. The area is nothing to write home about. It's open seating and we opted to sit outside, we didn't realize our table (as were all of them) dirty but our waitress noticed and offered to clean to clean it- mind you we were already seated. Another waitress comes by and wipes every bit of crumbs and dirt right onto my lap, irritating. I wiped my lap very obvious and she apologized. My bf ordered a fanta when we were asked about drinks and given about 10 mins to look over the menu. I ordered the Munga Munga (i believe that's the spelling) in burrito form and informed the waitress no feta as I have a dairy allergy. I saw her write it down. My bf again asked for the fanta and she said yes of course. We waited maybe 10-15 mins and out food was out. My bf still didn't have his fanta lol and my burrito came w feta- able to see bc they cut the burrito in half. I noticed right away and they took it back to remake. At this time my bfs fanta comes. Less than 10 mins later I get my refire. This particular omelette was supposed tp have Louisiana hot link sausage but it must've been cut very fine bc I could barely see any meat and there wasn't any flavor to it at all. I added some tobasco and pepper but I'm thinking I should've added salt too. Cool. I ate maybe half of half the burrito and a few bites of hash browns (that also had no flavor) and was ready to go. Less than 4 hrs later I had awful cramps and diarrhea. It's clear they don't take allergies seriously here. My bf ordered chicken fried steak and he said it was delicious tho. Me personally, I'm good on coming back. Food thrown out, they likely cook eggs in butter or mix egg beaters w milk.

The outside is a little old and the restaurant is a bit hidden away in the back, but the inside has been kept relatively clean. I also found the servers to be extremely friendly and welcoming. This is a diner in all the traditional senses. I came here for a good 'ol fashioned bacon, sausage, and egg breakfast and that's what I got. I got a great deal on it as I came before 10am and they had a special. Even with the deal, I found the menu prices to be very reasonable. The food is exactly what you would expect from a diner such as this. But what was a little surprising was that it wasn't super greasy. The bacon and sausage were well cooked and my over-medium eggs were just right. The flavors weren't upscale in any sense, but they do the job for what it is. If you're looking for a very traditional American diner experience that doesn't break the bank, you can't do much better than Eppies.

They are open from 6:30am - 2:30pm depending on the day. They are always bustling. You can park in-front or they have a private lot so you can also park in back. Parking can be tight sometimes and the spaces could be larger. Today I was meeting my girlfriends for lunch. Our date was for 12:30pm. Some people arrived early and got us a table. I could have been one of those early birds, but I was outside checking in and taking a picture of the iconic sign. I'm sorry that was all the pictures I took, I was too busy gabbing with my friends to capture the moment on film. Amazingly there were 10 of us. We had to pull over a 2nd table. Thankfully there was another table to pull over as 4 people arrived a little later than the rest of us. The place was bustling with patron, but there was still room for our large group. Service was great. Soon as we arrived they took our drink orders, gave us our menus and let us settle in. Then they came around a 2nd and then a 3rd time as we arrived in waves. Yes, I gave a large tip for all their extra service. They even let us divide up the tabs so there was 1-2 people on each tab. Their new mini computer makes it easier for them to do separate checks. I think that is one of the main reasons we come here as they let us do separate checks. I had the Cobb salad and it was phenomenal. They have the option of getting a half salad but, it's only a dollar or so less so I got the full salad and had leftovers. I love their cobb salad, this is my 2nd I got it at my First Ladies lunch. Why is it so good you may ask. Everything is in large chucks. The chicken is pieces of real grilled chicken, not tiny cubes, but large pieces, the bacon also comes in large pieces and there is plenty of bacon, eggs are in quarters, the avocado is in slices, then there are olives, I'm not sure why there are olives as I don't recall them on Cobb salads in other places, it's not a deal breaker as I do like olives, but I'm always surprised to see them. It also comes with blue cheese crumbles and blue cheese dressing and they give you a whole dish of dressing so you don't feel like you have to skimp. I am not a blue cheese fan so I asked for no crumbles and asked for ranch instead of blue cheese. The Ranch dressing is so good. My girlfriend loves the olives and ate those first.

We were taken care of quickly but our two breakfast orders took a while to come out. Took a while to get the refills and even longer to get the sugar packets. I ordered the chilaquiles special, which I was looking forward to. I had planned to get the breakfast enchiladas but realized they were made with flour tortillas (they're supposed to be corn). These also weren't chilaquiles. Or they were pretty dry. A lump of soggy fried chips tossed in cheese and scrambled egg and --the big surprise: chicken shredded up, well this just was a mess. By the time it came to me, the chilaquiles were fairly cold too. They ruined what should be a fresh and saucy dish. It didn't help that the refried beans next to the dish did not seem fresh either. The taste was almost from a can. The pancakes we got to share, a short stack, were ok but they were too dense and thick. My friend got the Denver omelette and he was pretty pleased. I reached over and tried the hash browns and they absolutely under seasoned. Salsa they brought didn't help much as it was a pale Pace picante variety. I wish it were far more a place where you could get real ownership of authentic food

My patty melt was solid, and just as expected. It was delicious and filling. The pile of thin crispy fries was perfectly seasoned and served nice and hot. My bro got the sweet potato fries and were well worth the upcharge. My husband loved his NY steak sandwich, served with lettuce, tomato, and onion rings, minus the mayo. Our server was pretty good, after a little delay getting to our table. We were acknowledged when we walked in, from all the way in the back from the kitchen and told to sit anywhere. It did seem like a little too long of a wait to get menus, but once he came over, he was very efficient with getting our drinks and taking our orders. Food came out in a timely manner. Seems like our server was the only staff for the entire front dining area. So if that was the case, he really did a good job, with just slight delays with refills and other requests. The restaurant itself was already VERY loud, with customers talking, laughing, and enjoying themselves. We actually appreciated the atmosphere because, as parents of a toddler, it made us feel more comfortable dining there as a family. Shortly after receiving our food, my toddler became upset and started crying. The OWNER approached my husband and asked him to REMOVE OUR CHILD FROM THE RESTAURANT. My husband, being the respectful person he is, complied and took her outside. At first, I was confused about why he had suddenly left until he called me and explained what the owner had told him. We had JUST received our food. At that point, I asked our server to remove the untouched items from our bill. I made it clear that I was more than willing to pay for anything we had already touched or consumed, but I was not comfortable continuing to give my business to an establishment whose owner had just asked my husband to remove our toddler. The owner then approached me, and I explained how inappropriate and upsetting I found the situation, especially considering how loud the restaurant already was. I could barely hear my own daughter over the overall noise in the restaurant. Her response was that "people were looking at me," which is why she asked my husband to take our daughter OUTSIDE. That response was extremely disappointing. She is a TODDLER. Toddlers sometimes cry. We were not allowing her to run around the restaurant, destroy anything, or behave dangerously. She was simply upset and crying. If noise was truly the issue, then why was our child singled out in an already extremely loud restaurant? What makes the experience even more uncomfortable is that we already felt we were greeted rudely by our first server. I do want to recognize the gentleman who was calling names for the tables. He was very kind and welcoming, and I appreciated his professionalism. As for the owner, I am extremely disappointed that someone who owns a restaurant would treat paying customers and their child this way. Families with young children deserve to know what kind of environment they are walking into. If children, or the normal behavior that occasionally comes with having toddlers are not welcome in your establishment, that should be clearly communicated to customers before they sit down and order food. We will not be returning, and I hope no other family is made to feel as unwelcome and embarrassed as ours was today.

I decided to do a road trip to Whitey's specifically to try the Peach Milkshake. There was a line to order which took about 25 minutes and then about another 25 minutes to get my food. I ordered a Deluxe Burger Onion Rings and a large Peach Milkshake. The burger was your basic burger and was good but didn't stand out versus other burgers, onion rings were fried brown and crunchy and the milkshake seemed to be melting as soon as I got my order so not very thick. I liked the milkshake but I didn't really taste the peaches. Overall, the food and milkshake were good but a bit underwhelming. I give Whitey's a generous 3.5 stars rounded up to 4 stars. On Yelp, we found Whitey's Jolly Kone, where only outdoor dining is available. Thankfully, today is a lot cooler than this past week (hooray for 75°, atm) We arrived at 10:45 and the nice order taker behind the window told us that they were still only serving breakfast for 10 more minutes. After that, we ordered a couple of Big Burgers. 1/3 pound patties, lettuce, tomato, pickle, onion, and Whitey's sauce.. except, we decided to make them doubles because we wanted all the glitz and glam. We added on seasoned curly fries, chili cheese fries, and a strawberry shake. We were told 25ish minutes before our order would be ready. The shake was ready within a few minutes. That shake was so delicious!!! Best one I have had lately!! After a good 25ish minutes, our order was ready. They called my name over the intercom. I was handed 2 big bags and they asked if I needed ranch and ketchup. We were also given a stack of napkins. I gotta admit... my sisters burger without produce looked so much better than mine, lol. On my burger, the tomatoes were a vibrant red, with pickles, and pieces of white onion, and mustard (no lettuce). First, we tried the curly fries. They were hot and crispy. The chili cheese fries were good, but I didn't feel like there was enough chili to go around. Beautifully melted cheese... Next, our burgers. I think the cheese melted off mine. My sisters was a picture perfect looking burger! They tasted like what you would expect from a diner type of burger... savory, the beef patty has a slight crisp from the flat top. A little greasy with a lightly toasted bun. These were seasoned well. I didn't get much, if any, of the Whitey's sauce, so I mostly tasted the mustard. Overall, my sister and I had a very pleasant experience at Whitey's Jolly Kone. Their ranch is delicious, the seasoned curly fries came out hot and crispy. The burgers tasted great... a double big burger is massive, by the way. It's enough to make two meals. Since our Big Burger seemed to be missing the Whitey's sauce, I'm be curious how different it would have tasted with the sauce instead of the mustard. If I had to improve another thing, it would've been to have more chili distributed throughout the chili cheese fries. It would definitely make a difference. Would I come back? Absolutely. The burgers, fries, ranch, and especially the shake made this a very enjoyable stop. I may try ordering online though... it seemed to be much faster way to order food.
