Cute little dumpling place that has good comfort food . We tried the cucumber salad, was pretty basic with soy sauce and sesame seeds. Tasted refreshing as it was pretty hot outside . The rice noodles were okay and we were expecting better . The pan fried veg potstickers were really good and was very comforting . The sauce that came with it hit the spot and we also made use of the free chili oil in the store to hit it up a notch . They had ran out of everything else that we wanted to try - like the soup dumplings, hibiscus drink and ginger sticky rice and pan fried noodles . Bummer but we are planning to go early next time as they run out of the best sellers pretty quickly on weekends. The staff were were kind and we will definitely come back to try the soup dumplings and ginger fried rice. read more

this is my most favorite place in austin!! I have been having a hard time finding the restaurant for MONTHS because i didn't keep the name in my noggin. i'm from houston and on my visit to austin, i stopped here and have been craving the food ever since. ITS A MUST GO PLACE PLS OMFG IM BEGGING YOU. The service was nice. not much to talk about. I wasn't uncomfy, they were nice and i remember him recommending all the food i got. the vibe of the place is simple, clean, and quiet. maybe could get away with doing homework here? they have wifi available to the public but honestly the food is so good is borderline distracting in my opinion lmfao read more

Steamies was good overall. The space is relatively small but it was clean and nice. There is a large parking lot. It's counter service and we got our food pretty quickly. We got chicken and shiitake potstickers, chicken wonton (this was a special), cucumber salad, and scallion pancakes. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. It's cool to see them making the dumplings behind the glass in the kitchen. They have freshly made frozen bags of dumplings available too. read more

Stopped through here for a snack and tried just the beef taco. Took a while to receive the order, but it was hot and fresh! I liked the crispness of the pancake. Overall it was really flavorful but a bit too salty. I think he sauce was a little overpowering. I did really like it though, I hope to come back and try the other items! There is limited seating so I'm not sure how crowded it gets. read more

The dumplings here are super tasty and in my opinion well made! They're all super juicy and very flavorful. I believe my order was made up of the smashed cucumber salad, scallion pancake, Pork Cabbage Dumplings, and the special. I would recommend ALL OF IT. Service was lacking a bit but I'm thinking it was just a bad day. According to previous reviews it is typically amazing. Overall, great for snacks or if you need a light dinner. read more

We're all door dashing everthing these days, right? Just looking for a snack and I ran across Steamies Dumplings. Only a few items on the menu, so I ordered most of it. The food arrived hot and fresh, appealing presentation and aromas as soon as I opened the bag. The people in the house who eat pork raved about the Pork & Cabbage Potstickers and we were all charmed by the perfect finger sized bites of Crispy Scallion Pancakes . The HK Street-style Noodle Rolls are exactly as decribed - slices of rolled up noodles drizzled with an incredible sweet and umami peanut sauce. For me the real star of the show was the Taiwanese Beef Taco It was insanely delicious. It took both hands to hold it and the meat was juicy and savory, with a smoky sweet hoisin sauce. I kept telling the others in the house how much I liked it. I'll remember this place and I'll be back soon read more

The man at the counter was super friendly and we chatted about our respective days, which was refreshing. The cucumber salad is similar to a dish I make myself at home, but better. I think I'll use chili flakes in mine next time, too! It seems like a lot of different cuisines are represented here, and though my life was not changed by what I ate today, maybe some of the other dishes are more impressive. Still, everything was yummy and I appreciate they get a lot of their ingredients from local vendors. Also, I don't care what Gordon Ramsay says, having pictures on a menu is super useful, and I'm glad there was one I could reference up front. I ultimately opted for very familiar dishes, so it doesn't really matter, but I think other people might benefit from it. read more

This is a great spot--dumplings made to order. We had sticky rice, assorted pot stickers, cucumber salad and the scallion pancake taco. Everything was great. Located in crescent--an Asian focused strip center. New owner was at till, super service oriented. Carry out or small eat-in, sidewalk dining. Will be back. read more

What an awesome find! I opted for take out & picked up a few items in the menu - soup dumplings, special of the day (egg rolls), scallion pancake. Their Xiao Ling Bao is surprisingly tasty for its price & the egg rolls are meaty and a good serving size! Service was quick too but I opted to shop next door while I was waiting for my food - lots of stores to explore in the Crescent Shopping Center! I came here at the recommendation of a guy I spoke to briefly on hinge. He recommended the Taiwanese scallion pancake taco which is on their general menu. It was a LOT. The taco is VERY dense, and contained a lot of meat. I appreciated that but I could tell I was taking in a lot of oil and fat! I actually would not buy it again just for myself because it's so dense, but the fusion idea is fun. What I did really enjoy here was the premade/frozen dumplings - they reheat/sauté very well and they're delicious! They're a little pricey, I think it was about $10 for a dozen of them, but they are worth it to eat sometimes since they are so tasty. The service was also great, the gentleman taking my order was very friendly. Overall I wouldn't go out of my way to come here unless I had an insatiable dumpling craving but overall I did really enjoy the food! read more

Came in after getting a haircut nearby. You order first and the service was very friendly! A nice and comfy place to grab a bite. We tried the four dumpling flavors they had - the monthly flavor was amazing! The pork and the chicken were standard. The scallion pancakes however were really salty :( almost to the point where I didn't want to eat them. This is the main reason for the lower review. We also got soup dumplings and they were good as well. Not sure if my taste was numbed out by how salty the scallion pancakes were but the soup dumplings tasted a little bland. I'm from southern California so we have a lot of Chinese food there and i'd say steamies is an okay pick for dumping cravings in Austin! read more

I don't know how they managed to do it, but Steamies launched their brick and mortar earlier this year just as everyone was shutting down for COVID-19. They are hustling hard, and making Crescent/Austin a better place with their handmade, small-batch dumplings! They have traditional dumpling offerings (i.e. Pork & Cabbage and XLB), but also have more unconventional options, such as their Five-Spice Lemongrass. At home, our tried-and-true favorites are the Chicken & Shiitake and the Coconut Red Curry Chicken (the dipping sauce takes it to the next level). As others have mentioned, the pickup process is easy. You can order online ahead of time, then pull up to a parking space, call their number, and they bring out your order. Currently, they are only selling frozen dumplings from their store, but you can always order freshly cooked ones from their neighbor Sazan Ramen, or from the Steamies booth at the Farmers' Markets on weekends. Steamies for the win! Steamies has been in my rotation for a while with visits to the Farmers Market at Mueller and next door at Sazan Ramen. It's great to have a casual spot to enjoy fresh dumplings or grab some frozen for later. The mix and match dumplings, beef taco and guava soda are excellent. The soup dumplings are a weekend special that I didn't find as flavorful. Looking forward to trying the rice noodle rolls and wontons when they're in stock! read more

I went to Steamies with a friend Friday afternoon and got a to-go order, and the employees were all super nice! We got the lunch special for $12.75- the pan fried noodles and the pork and cabbage potstickers and they were delicious! Cute dumpling shop with a small menu. The chicken shiitake dumplings were tasty. The chili lacks a certain saltiness that I usually crave but it works surprisingly well with the dumplings. Their XLB are legit! And I love how easy it is to just pop in and grab a few bags of frozen dumplings from the fridge in the back. They've started passing out little foil soup dumpling cups at checkout, too, which are really nice for cooking your dumplings easily, keeping them from sticking to your steamer, and catching any soup that drips out if you accidentally tear a dumpling. I just wish the parking here wasn't such a nightmare. Definitely try to avoid going at peak lunch/dinner times to avoid the parking rush (there are many good restaurants here, but there are way too many for one plaza). read more

Steamies was a great find on our way to a desert place in the area. The food was all very delicious and came out nice and quick! Definitely a spot for smaller groups as there is very limited seating, but if you're a group of 2-3, a table will open up before you get your food. My favorite was the sticky rice followed closely by the pot stickers. I think they could step up their soup dumpling game. I also wish they had the big spoons you normally eat soup dumplings in instead of these tin foil cups (cute idea but it was tough to eat that way). Friendly staff and nice atmosphere- the tables are spaced out enough that it didn't feel too crowed. Awesome find! read more

Cute small shop in the same plaza as 99ranch. I've always wanted to try their dumplings since seeing them at the Texas farmers market, but they always close early on the weekdays. So I had to make a trip on the weekends. At around lunch, most of their seatings were already taken up. We ordered a serving of their soup dumplings at the front for eat in. The wait for the food was pretty long, but I'm pleasantly surprised by the dumplings. The taste was good and there was soup in there (very important for soup dumplings). The skin was a little thicker than I would've liked but still a very decent soup dumpling. We also got their frozen dumplings to go, and those were really delicious. We pan fried them at home and had them with noodles. Great pairing, especially since it was so easy to make them. read more

So I really wanted to try this place I checked online and it said they were open. I then signed up for the rewards so I can get a free dumplings and I went to place my order and I was there by the shop and they were closed, even though it was a Saturday morning Around 11:30 AM. So I never really got to try this place even though it looked delicious but I will say this make sure they're open before you place any orders. I will say that the shop that it is in is ridiculously cute. I could probably spend all day there. read more

Looooooove Steamies. I first tried them at the Mueller farmers market and instantly wanted more. I was so excited to find out they had recently opened a brick and mortar in my neighborhood! I can walk to Steamies whenever I want! I also love buying their frozen options to cook at home. The scallion pancakes are otherworldly. I'm personally (and selfishly) hoping they bring back the cracked pepper beef. Those flavors are amazing! read more

On my recent trip to Austin I tried Steamies. It's a very small but cute place. The dumplings are made fresh with open windows for you to watch them prepare the food. It was all very good. The Taiwanese taco was really amazing. There were so many different flavors in that taco that all went together to make one of the best things I've ever had. The Rice was my second favorite. I also had a pineapple ginger soda that was delicious too. It's a very comfortable-casual place to grab something to go or eat there. Cute little store. We had walked by after eating at another restaurant and we came in, saw the freezers full of pot stickers and we bought a bunch. We made them for dinner and absolutely loved them. You can tell it's handmade for sure! My favorite was the scallion pancakes I recommend trying this place out! It's not a chain, just owned by a family and they seem very passionate and friendly. These dumplings are awesome! A lot of vegan and vegetarian options too. My favorites are the chicken and shiitake, the vegan potstickers and the soup dumplings. Order frozen dumplings online and pick them up in store to make them at home. They also sell prepared dumplings in the store and they're at farmers markets on the weekends. I can't WAIT to come back! We showed up on a Sunday, ordered tons of dumplings and the scallion pancake, YUM! This little spot is fantastic, authentic and delicious. Great service, fresh flavors, and overall amazing. I had 6 dumplings from Steamies Dumplings yesterday & they were delicious and filling! I had pork fillings but there are other options including vegetables. I waited the few minutes to cook them for me, but could have taken them home & cooked them. There were a few cute small round tables & short stools where I waited. I was impressed by the box they gave me with the cooked dumplings inside. It was a small but very sturdy box & it kept the dumplings hot until I got home. I live nearby and Steamies is going to be a regular place for me often! read more

The atmosphere is modern and lively, making it a great spot for a weekend brunch. Started the meal with cocktails including Lycheetini with Deep Eddy Vodka, Giffard Lichi-li. lemon, cranberry, I cut the cranberry. Also had a Fresa Paloma with Socorro Reposado Tequila, Contratto, strawberry, lime, grapefruit, five-spice that was very sweet and garnished with a flower. You are given a card where you can mark your dim sum selections. I ordered the Shrimp Pancake, Snow Crab Ball and Chinese Sausage Sticky Rice. The standout was the shrimp pancake that had a really great texture and flavor. The snow crab ball had a strange texture with shrimp surrounding the snow crab claw. The Chinese Sticky Rice is always a favorite. Also ordered the Truffle Egg Fried rice and Birds Nest with Seasonal Vegetable. The Truffle rice is so flavorful like a flavor explosion in your mouth. The Birds Nest is made with fried potato shreds which contain the a variety of vegetables including cauliflower, peppers, mushrooms and asparagus. The nest is also edible and has a crunchy texture. The presentation of the food is amazing and everything came out hot and fresh. The flavors were on point, and you can tell there's attention to detail in the preparation. Honestly, give me Panda Express any day over this abject failure of a restaurant. Austin needs more Chinese but if it's anything like this place, forget it. I'd rather spend a 4h round trip to Houston and go to even a mediocre Chinese restaurant than endure another meal at this place. What a waste of $165. Edit: I wish I was making this up but I literally had to pull over to throw up on the side of the road on the way home. The food did not sit well with me. I have no underlying health conditions, am not on any medicine that would have this as a side effect and only shared one beer with my wife. It was just a very, very, disappointing and gross meal.

We were able to flag down servers to help us get an extra plate, tea cups, etc. Got a variety of dim sum classics: hargow (shrimp dumpling), siu mai, rice noodles, custard buns, chicken feet, chow fun, egg tarts, soy sauce noodles, charsiu bao, turnip cake My favorites are the siu mai, chow fun and custard buns! They also have non-traditional dim sum dishes such as soup dumplings, which actually originated from Shanghai. We got them and they were ok. We ordered a second time to get more custard buns but it seemed they ran out so it took some time for them to make them fresh. When they finally came, the buns were not smooth and it really looks like the custard was about to burst. Someone bit into theirs and the custard exploded onto their shirt. However, we all had a good laugh and still enjoyed the food. Have to have tea during dim sum so we also got our puer and chrysanthemum tea mix. The seafood fried noodle is also very good - tender squid, shrimp and veggies in the crunchy noodle nest is a great contrast in texture, as well as a lesson in simplicity. The peking pork ribs are also incredible - saucy, not overly sweet sauce clings to the riblets and gives you something incredible to gnaw on. I prefer it in pork chop form, but this is stellar as I think I've only had this one other place that was even remotely close. All in all, great place for Canto food in a town that doesn't have enough of it.

They've started to taste a little dry, and the saucier wings taste better the next day since they don't have time to steep through once served. The Filet Mignon Pepper Steak is still my favorite dish on the menu, but I still can't justify ordering it family-style anymore. It's delicious, but the portion just doesn't match the price. One of the newest additions--the Truffle Fried Rice is spectacular. It's light, not overpowering with truffle, and the fish eggs really adds the perfect little pop of texture/flavor. I don't think I breathed the entire I scarfed it down!! 1618 is still one of my favorite restaurants in Austin of all time, but I think it's time for the menu to elevate a bit and dive deeper into less mainstream Asian cuisine. The crab was plentiful, sweet, and incredibly fresh, while the shrimp were perfectly cooked, not a second overdone. Dishes like this require impeccable timing because every ingredient cooks differently, and somehow every single component was flawless. It was one of the best fried rice dishes I've ever eaten. The service was equally impressive. Everyone was warm, attentive, and happy to offer recommendations based on their most popular dishes. They even told us about their live music nights, which immediately gave us another reason to come back. The table next to us was having Pho and needed with the mango sticky rice and I am coming back for that. This one was a bit too overindulgent and sweet for my liking but was definitely worth a try. Portions are huge and can be shared as the donut is not as good warmed over. The food was much better than I even anticipated - as a guy who grew up on NJ diner mozzarella sticks, I have a high bar for them and these were magnificent. And seriously...taking the "everything's bigger in Texas" slogan and applying them to mozzarella sticks?! top 10 achievements of the decade. Honestly, it's the kind of meal I could see myself ordering every week. My partner went with the Lost Recipe, which looked just as delicious. You can never really go wrong with fried chicken, and this version certainly didn't disappoint. The service was equally impressive. Our server was friendly, attentive and checked in regularly throughout the meal. She even brought us a complimentary crab pastry to try, which was a thoughtful touch and much appreciated. One thing to note this place gets busy, especially during lunch so plan accordingly. That said, the food and service are well worth it and the menu is reasonably priced. Kiin Di has successfully made the jump from food truck to full-service restaurant and it's definitely earned a spot on my regular rotation.

this place seems to be a hip and popular spot in downtown austin. across the river side…read more it was pretty packed with music in the background. just have a hip and young vibe spot for date night or gatherings of young crowd. i mean 20-30 something young not high school kids young.... anyways, i actually didn't know i order the thai me down app.. i thought i was getting some sort of chicken karage. instead, its chicken taco.. pretty good and 10 bucks is reasonable. alot of meat. meal by itself really. the khao soi for some reason gave me heartburn. perhaps the soup is just too flavorful. it was thick curry broth. there was a big piece of chicken thigh. i wish there was more egg noodle and less chicken.. i want more noodle less meat. or perhaps meat is cut up into smaller pieces to eat. and add a couple qual eggs.. anyways, i end up eating just too much chicken... the initial app had a huge piece of chicken. just bad ordering on my part. total was 40 + 7 tip. had a beer as well for $6 and rice was $3 ate the rice with the chicken and soup as i finish the noodle pretty quickly like a couple slurps. khao soi was 18 bucks.. yupe, 50 bucks total... jeez -1 star i came for the khao soi and it was just not enough noodles. i think also quite expensive.. i think this is premium for being more of a hip restaurant and location. i would love to find a street hawker selling it like on khaosan for 3 bucks... i should mention, really really friend staff and service. +1 star anyways, if you miss the khao soi in bkk, this is probably the high end version....
