But I will say I'm excited to go back because the cocktails are super delicious, AND they have daily happy hour (5-8pm if I'm not mistaken). Huge plus. The only negatives are the parking. Very little parking lot so that could be tough on a busy day. And the service was mid. There was one friendly bartender, and another one that just may have been having a rough day. Mainly the reviews also raved about the vibes, services, and live music. Well, they were not wrong! It was fairly easy to make a reservation through Opentable, and I made a reservation for two people for my birthday dinner on Sunday night. I put on the notes that it's my bday so it'll be nice to get a nice table near the stage. I didn't have a high expectation, cos I'd never been to the place and I didn't make a call or anything. But wow, they definitely gave us a great table at the very front! As many reviewers had mentioned, the acoustic of the restaurant is really great. You can barely hear other people's conversations. There's a live jazz band playing, so you can really enjoy that. Although it made it slightly hard to hear what other nearby people say to you either, haha. Our server Dawson was a really great one! Very nice, very informative and just has a great vibe that made you feel comfortable to converse with him. We also asked if he could take a picture of us and he went above and beyond with taking our pictures haha. He took the table lamp as our additional "lighting". Such a great service! Dawson also made a few suggestions on food. We ordered the milk bun (so great!), the tiger prawns tostada (omg, my favorite of the night!), braised lamb pasta, pork belly risotto, and roasted broccolini. Everything was really good and really filled us up! We also got the "smokin old fashioned" and "Wake up and repeat" cocktails. It was plenty of food for us so we asked for a check. Dawson asked if we wanted a dessert but we were already full. He asked if it's ok to give us a lil treat for my bday. It was a really nice dessert :). Oh I forgot to mention that they also put a small bday card on the table for me. The prices of food and drinks are on the higher sides, but I feel like it's worth it due to the live music and the vibe. It easily covers the entertainment part. We definitely will go back and recommend this place for anyone who's looking into a nice date night or to celebrate something special. I was informed that Friday has more of a "party vibe" here, although it's still a jazz performance. Sunday feels more laid back :) Overall I'm really pleased by this place. We got the tiger prawns and it was presented as a toasta, which had a great flavor and texture. The apple salad was also refreshing and a good portion to share between 2 people. The broccolini was cooked perfectly and my favorite after the tiger prawns was the Dungeness crab pasta. It had uni on top! The uni elevated the dish, and honestly there were a good amount of crab meat in the dish. Overall well balanced and creamy. The 2 of us left full and satisfied. The guac was too refrigerated, with not fully ripened avocado that resulted in an overly sweet taste and slightly firm texture that was unpleasant. Chips were also just not very good, and also not as far as I could tell complimentary. Service gets high marks for speed and efficiency, but felt super impersonal. Example, a server asked us how everything was while we were clearly just sitting there, not having tasted any of it waiting for some limes to arrive at the table. Just asked the question without surveying at all, and it was very performative and not genuine. Which is fine. I'm not at all mad at the servers, tough job but worth noting when noting the tip % options on the POS. End of the day I don't know if I'll be back or not. Everybody has an off day. But just about every aspect was less than stellar(draft beer was excellent) especially compared to three previous excellent visits. It's getting harder to justify going out for dinner, and at these prices, I would hope they could do a little better.

It was fairly hot inside as if the AC was broken and made the experience a bit uncomfortable. It took us about 10+ minutes while we were sat before a server even approached us. He told the table behind us that he would be with them in a minute and my friend responded thinking he was talking to us but he wasn't. He didn't even acknowledge us until way later. When he finally came over to us, we inquired about the different prices for the sake and they didn't have the sake we wanted on the menu so I asked for one more minute. He didn't come back for another 10 minutes and then I flagged someone down by raising my hand and he came over and interrupted me trying to order to tell me he would grab my server. Not sure if he was a busser or another server who had his own section and didn't want to help out. Alas, there seems to be a lot of floor staff and only 5 tables occupied at the time of our visit but the service was one of the most atrocious things I've seen in a while. Our server finally showed up again and we ordered our sake and one specialty roll to split: the Terminator. He asked us if we wanted ginger or wasabi to which I responded 'just a lot of wasabi.' The sushi roll came out extremely fast---probably within a 3-5 minutes of us ordering it and while we didn't have full on conversations with the sushi chefs, they were very nice and the reason for the extra stars on this review. I sat there for about 5 minutes unable to eat because I was still waiting for my wasabi. The server never checked up on us. I got the attention of the lovely lady sushi chef and asked for wasabi and she was apologetic and left to go tell the server. The server finally arrived with not just wasabi but a lot of ginger that we already told him we didn't need. The prices are ridiculous for what you get but it's Citywalk so understandable. The sushi roll was expensive at the tune of $23 but it was pretty tasty. If I was just rating the service, this review would have gotten 1/5 stars. Didn't catch a name. He never introduced himself. We asked one of the sushi chefs if they get to keep the tips in their tip jar on top of the bar because we wanted to make sure they got tipped properly and they said they do (just fyi if you want to tip the sushi chefs!). Would I come back? Possibly if I'm there for a movie or Universal. However, if I have to wait more than 5 minutes for a server to even acknowledge my existence once I'm already sat, I feel it best to walk out and head over to Vivo where their service is always on point.
