Always burnt or under done. I've probably gotten a perfect pizza two out of 10 times that I've ordered from here. Very thin crust with not much taste, they go light on the cheese so not much to rave about. Their fries are great so they get a star for that. read more

I want to start by saying the pizza that I picked up was great! The reason for the two stars is because there are big signs posted that you have to wear s mask when entering . I had a mask on but the man behind the counter was not wearing one. It was hanging around his neck. When I had to get close to pay and pick up my pizza he started yelling at another worker in the back. He was yelling and facing me only the length of the counter away from me. When I order mushroom pizza due to inexplicable & mad craving that I must have that magic taste combo, I expect to taste mushrooms. The pie I ordered had a scant smattering of paper thin mushrooms that had no flavor. I was pretty pissed off. I live nearby & for 10 years never went in so it was time to patronize this local business. Esp w all the online praise. Crust was good, sauce was ok...plus, people were very nice. If I could give 0 stars, I would. Placed an order for delivery, took 50 minutes although they're a 7 min drive from my place. The delivery guy called me to ask where I was (my condo unit is a little weird to access) and proceeds to yell at me to come down and "where am I" blah blah blah. I come down and he's slamming on my foyer door, I take out cash to pay him $25 on a $23 bill because the order was late and already knew my food was cold, also because he screamed at me. As soon as I hand him the $25, he berates me for more and refuses to close my door. In the world of tips, you get what you get for your service. $25 was more than enough for his pathetic service and for SCREAMING AT ME, I tip $2 or $3 on delivery ALL THE TIME. So I don't know what he expected for being a delivery driver. I take out another $20 to ask him to break, and continues to demand I give him that?? I take out my last single to just get him to go away, and he literally GRABS the money from my hand and RUNS away. I called Stella's to complain and the guy who talked to me was so nice, but offered nothing in return. I should've had my meal comped. First time ordering, will never again. This is why I use grub hub and rarely ever call places for local delivery. Pizza is cold. NOT WORTH IT. read more

Hands down the damned pizza in the area! If you like thin crust pizza, the 18" thin and crispy is the way to go. The steak and cheese is to die for...! But just don't do delivery as the thinness of the pizza means it will lose it's heat quickly, so it'll arrive cold. You should either do pick up or just eat it there. read more

Very good, traditional thin crust pizza, with some nice char on the crust. Best pizza that I'm aware of in Watertown. Always very friendly, usually quick service. The slices are a good size (I usually have two, but could be content with one if it's for lunch). The variety of slice options during lunchtime is unbeatable in the area -- they usually have at least 3 options on top of your traditional cheese/pepperoni. Some of my favorite slices are the White Roman, Buffalo Chix, Chix Parm, Meatlovers, and the Stella's Special. There are plenty of toppings on each, but they are spread out perfectly so that you actually know you're still eating pizza. Slices can be a little expensive (especially if you go with toppings), $3.25 per slice for most of the specialty slices I listed above. The better deal is definitely to get a full specialty pie if you can find some people to split it with (or just save the leftovers). A large specialty Buffalo Chicken Pizza is $13.70, pretty awesome deal if you ask me. I've also tried a couple of Stella's subs (Italian, Chicken Parm) which I would rate as average, nothing incredible to write about there. If you come to Stella's, the pizza is a must try. Stella's has ALWAYS had the best pizza in town. I've been a customer for more than 50 years, their pizza is just as good as, if not better than any pizza you would find in the North End. If you haven't tried it, you're missing out! Nothing prefabricated, it's all hand made to order...they even sell it by the slice (which is huge). read more

Stella's is a unicorn of pizzerias these days - a no-frills, top quality slice joint that doesn't break the bank. Sure, you can drop $17 on a 12" fancy-pants type pizza in the city or get a crappy Greek pizza in the burbs, but a high-quality, no BS, NY slice is a rare find. These guys do it better than anyone I know, and I've had many an amazing pie from Tokyo to Naples. That tangy cheese. That sweet (but not too sweet) sauce. That char on the crust. Killer. I've only ordered the "thin and crispy plain cheese 18-inch" pie and I have no plains to ever order anything else. Why mess with perfection? Foods great. I called to see if they deliver to where I am in Allston, and the lady on the line was extremely rude and condescending stating she only delivers to Watertown. I'm closer to their establishment than certain parts of Watertown which is hilarious. I enjoy their food but they should let someone less miserable answer the phone. I grew up in Cambridge next to the Harvard house of pizza.. Lived in NYC, LA, Dallas , Houston, Seattle etc..and yet, I've rarely had pizza this good.. I suspect because of the thin and crusty 18" pizza.. If you don't like thin pizza or prefer undercooked doughy stuff you might not love Stella's.. That said, locally it's equal is Pini's Pizza in Waltham.. Both make wicked good white pizza.. I recommend their white roma.. The pizza is generous and cheap for what you get.. Mixed reviews here. Been there twice. Guys are pretty friendly. Got an onion pizza the first time and WAY TOO many onions. And it seemed like the cheese was on top of the onions. The 2nd time we got mushroom/pepper and it was very good. I like the thin crust that they serve. read more

Ordered pizza (over the phone) for the PD/FD just now from this place. I live in Kansas City so the manager was very helpful in suggesting area Police and Fire departments that would enjoy the free food. Was very helpful and assured me that they would get the pizza to local emergency crews that had not had food delivered to them yet. If I ever get to Boston I am going here. The LF and I, following up on various leads and tips that always seem to lead us to Watertown for our pizza needs, resisted the tractor beam pull of Celebrity (our usual haunt) down the street and pushed on to Stella's for a midafternoon snack. Was shocked to see only 4/5 stars. If you like an honest pizza with razor thin crust, there are few if any in Stella's class. People travel far and wide for Santarpio's, and its the same thing in Watertown. Back in my high school days, my friends and I used to come here from Newton because it was worth it. Now I try to take my wife and kids a couple times a year from Somerville. I love Somerville and we used to have great pizza, but nothing compares. Sorry. Stella's is arguably the best pizza in Massachusetts. The staff is awesome. They are friendly, polite, entertaining and a pleasure to be around. The food is always amazing and never takes more than 5-10 minutes from order to plate. I visit the guys at Stella's several times a week. Usually for a quick lunch. Weather it's the pizza or buffalo wings, I always leave happy and satisfied. Other establishments should take notes. They are a family owned business and they practically know all Of their customers by name. I always bring up Stella's when discussing the best pizza or best places to eat. I'm not a pizza person, I've said it before. So, when I find a place that can sell me on a slice, that makes me want to drive from Roslindale to Watertown (ya, seriously!) just to get my hands on it's foldable, thin-crust, cheesy goodness, then you know it's kind of a big deal. Stella's does just that. It was one of a myriad of restaurant discoveries made while I was pregnant and craving all sorts of foods that I didn't normally eat. We were (kind of) in the area one day, and I turned to my husband and said "I want pizza". He looked at my as if I had just told him I was pregnant, eyes wide and a smile ear to ear. "Serious?!" I confirmed and told him where to go. I swear to God he floored it and blew a red light to get there before I changed my mind. While the parking situation can be dodgy (be sure to have a couple quarters on hand) the pizza is well worth it. It's a small, divey pizza place with a row of typical booth-style seating on the right and a dingy (in a good way) counter on the left. A glass case displays the available slices, along with a white board on which they track which specials of the day are still available. A TV usually has some variation of sports or news on, and an old Pepsi (or was it Coke?) cooler in the back purrs underneath the booming voices of the shop guys and any regulars who happen to come in just to chat. You can get two slices and a can of soda for like $5, and these slices are huge! We have enjoyed many varieties of pizza from this place, and we just keep going back. Any time we are in the neighborhood, we don't leave without stopping in. The guys that run the place are top-notch. There isn't much else to say. Do yourself a favor and check them out. read more
