For Boston and not some of the awesome places in the N End, I don't think it gets better than Stella's. Great thin crust pizza, they give you a healthy amount of toppings and its just really good. Add some red pepper flakes to it and your good to go. The lady friend likes their chicken fingers as well. Win win for all! read more

I always order Stella's pizza for the gang at work when I need to bribe into doing something unpleasant. This pizza is great--the larges are huge, the crust is thin, the sauce has chunks of tomatoes. The jalapeno pepper or green pepper, onion, and mushroom are always popular. Thanks, Stella, for using fresh mushrooms. Canned mushrooms make pizza sad. The service has always been good too. Usually I'm scheduling a big order to be delivered at a particular time, and Stella's has always accommodated me. read more

Their pizza has a fairly crisp very thin crust, which I like. Their slices of the day change and are quite good. I would give them a fifth star for a pizza joint, however, there a several small things that could be improved. They also have Cherry Coke Zero, which is a nice change of pace I think. It is a family owned shop, and they have been in business for a long time. By the way, in case you are wondering, Stella's pizzas are a lot better than Andrea's pizza across the street. 1) Although it has not happened to me, I have seen them serve a sub that was burned. They fixed it when the customer complained, but it looked bad. I can't believe they thought it was ok to put it out there. 2) Their slice selection is great at lunch, but at night it often can be very limited. 3) The place looks like it hasn't been redecorated since it opened many years ago. 4) The family at least twice has had a disagreement in front of customers, which is uncomfortable. 5) This is a pizza joint. If it was me, I would stick to ordering the pizza. Their other options are limited, and you can get better subs and salads (those other options) elsewhere. read more

Best thin crust pizza in the Belmont/Watertown area. I've never tried any of their other food, but this is always a solid choice on pizza night, especially if we're in the mood for thin crust. Delivery is soooo slow though...usually like an hour wait...luckily it's about a 2 minute drive, so we just go and pick it up. read more

This place is AMAZING! I placed an order for pick up tonight and the man who took my order was really nice and polite on the phone...something that really helps throw a place from average pizza joint to my new weekly regular spot ! Then there was the pizza. The Crust is the perfect combination of crisp,chew and char...the trifecta. Although admittedly it was so light and airy i probably ate more then i should have. I ordered a white roman pizza, so many places attempt to make one but end up making a dry tasteless homage to the actual pizza. Stella has made the best version i have had in years. It was juicy and so savory that i had to fight off others for my leftovers. I also ordered a cheese which was still really good, the sauce a little sweet for my taste, but still really great. As I was waiting to pick up our 3 pizza as they forgot the third one and had to wait 15 minutes while the other 2 pizza was getting cold . I saw the person who was at the cashier blew his nose and instead of going to wash his hands touched our pizza box . Um....am I horrible for loving Stella's Pizza? I'm just curious, because up here in the grand old sticks of Maine we have a few choices (Portland Maine Excluded from this generalization): crap or greek pizza. Stella's was pretty awesome for me. Granted, I was hammered the first time I went, it made enough of an impression on me that during my next visit I was all Marlon Brando for this place. As everyone has said, the crust is thin but manages to hold its own against some toppings. The bottom has been a little black, which is crazy good....the sauce not too sweet, and cheese not too heavy and cloyingly rich. What else am I gonna tell you? Ordinary is the word! Nothing worth mentioning as to what should be tried here. I stopped in for a quick bite on sunday afternoon. Got myself a large meatball sub with cheese. The frozen meatballs were dunked in the tomatoey gravy sitting on a hot bath of some kind. or may be a slow cooking pot. So yea, take a bread, put it in oven with cheese and slam it with floating meatball pieces along with sauce. Bam! you got a meatball sub. My wrong choice of meal selection or may be I should just realize thats the best that you can get for $7 bucks! Would choose subway over this anyday! read more

I love Stella's. For years I drove past it, thinking it was a scary joint in that sort-of dingy block of storefronts in Coolidge Square, but after my friends raved about it, I gave it a try. Love it. Mind you, I love thin crust pizza, so those who prefer a doughier crust might not share my enthusiasm. Here's a tip: sometimes the crust tastes like the box when it cools during delivery. Just put the slices in a hot oven for about five minutes, and the twice-baked pizza is even better. I find a cheese pizza is better with double cheese. Their sausage pizza is wonderful, as is mushroom and black olive combo. One day not too long ago, I ordered a toasted Italian sub (with lettuce, tomato, onions, pickle, and oil). It was probably the best sub I've had in ages. They use wonderful braided sesame-seed rolls. The guys who work there are efficient and friendly. One of them has arms the size of Popeye's. read more

My family ordered 3 large pizzas from Stellas. The pepperoni pie arrived with 6 pieces of pepperoni on the entire pie. We called and spoke with someone that didn't believe us that the pizza was not what we ordered. After 5 or 6 minutes of going back and forth we were offered a new pizza, to be made the same, and would take a minimum of 20 minutes. Because we were going out we asked to simply have a credit. We were told no. The following day when I spoke to the owner he basically talked to me like I was a teenager trying to get a free pizza. He also told me (when I gave him a picture of the pizza) that the topping was done correctly. I'm including the picture here. I feel bad and don t want others to be tricked like this if you are PAYING for a topping you should get that topping. If you call with a problem, the owner should not try to spin the story. Use caution if ordering...a number of my friends have already stopped using them. read more

I'm always looking for the perfect pie. This is right up there with Regina's so if you need to compare it to something you like, you can get an idea of what your missing if you don't go to Stella's. I found this accidentally a few years back before there ever was such a thing as Yelp. That's what makes this a really special place for me. This is what a local pizza place should be like. Nice people, great food, and the occasional soccer game on the TV. This is just very good, thin crust, NY/NJ style pizza. Big slices. Different specialty toppings every day. Fountain soda with free refills. Fried dough. What more do you need? They've also got this awesome "fry-o-matic" machine for mozzarella sticks/chicken fingers that I've never seen anywhere else. It's a big metal box that looks like a "futuristic" cooking appliance from the 1960s, where they open a draw, drop in the stuff to fry, close the draw, and wait. I've heard of this place from my cousin who's a Watertown native, it was highly recommended, so I wanted to fly to Massachusetts, and actually try it! On my trip to Boston, I finally tried Stella's! Ohhhh wow! It tasted so good! I had a Pepperoni and, Mushroom pizza, and it was stellar! The sauce is very balanced, yet slightly sweet. The crust is crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside! The toppings are fresh, and the cheese is very gooey, just like I prefer it! The ratio of toppings to cheese, is near perfect! You can tell they take their Pizza very seriously. Stella's is good pizza! We only get pepperoni, but they put the pepperoni under the cheese so looks can be deceiving! The fried dough babies are good, but I think I'll ask for extra sugar next time. The salad, while delicious, has come with various breads, I guess depending on how busy they are! The guys who work the counter are super friendly, and treat their customers with mucho respect, from all walks of life. Great place, I definitely recommend. read more

I got a chicken cutlet calzone and slice of cheese pizza. The calzone was pretty good, the cheese pizza was rather disappointing. The reason I'm giving 1 star is because the calzone was listed on their digital (!) signage menu for $8 and they charged me $10. When I enquired about it, the staff member just brushed it off. He did not want to refund me the difference. The owner (or GM, he was going over the time sheets) was sitting nearby and didn't seem to care either. It's digital signage, there's no excuse to update your prices in the registry and neglect to do the same thing on your TV. It's called false advertising, it's illegal under MA law and when a customer notices, you shouldn't brush it off and still overcharge them. read more

08/07/15 UPDATE: DELIVERY HAS GOTTEN REALLY SLOW IN THE PAST COUPLE OF MONTHS. WE STILL LOVE THE PIZZA BUT MY RECOMMENDATION IS THAT YOU PICK IT UP IF YOU LIVE CLOSE BY. Stella's makes the best thin crust pizza in the area. I would go so far to say that it comes extremely close to matching the quality and taste of, New Haven's own, Pepe's Pizza. We usually order delivery at least once a week. Their sausage is spicy, just the way I like it. I recommend their sub's as well. On busy nights, they often say that delivery will be 45 min to an hour, but my spouse and I have never waited that long. If we are starving, we just pick it up ourselves. This place is a neighborhood gem and a local institution. The place probably hasn't changed since it opened and never should. The big, old-school booths remind me of the mom and pop stores that were around when I was a kid, but the pizza here is even better! The pizza is not only the best in the area (make sure you go for the thin and crispy!), but it's incredibly affordable, as well.
