The rich, homemade Cacio & Pepe pasta. Not the worlds best but pretty darned good.

Honestly I can't understand why people crowd into gimmicky restaurant in Shirlington (like Palette 22 which is all show, no substance) when Stellina is serving such reliably high quality food and drinks at value prices a half block away. Stellina has really hit its stride. This place was already a reliable choice in Shirlington, but the salads have improved, the pizzas are more consistent, the specials are better, the bar and the service are terrific, and even the desserts are impressive. Plus they've added InKind for payment making them an even better value. There's nothing pretentious or gimmicky here. Just a simple menu of seasonal brick oven Neapolitan pizzas, pastas and salads with exceedingly friendly service in a bright, casual bar setting. Out favorite restaurant in Shirlington.

The food was ok. I got the Happy Hour special which was a GREAT deal. It comes with a cocktail, house made chips, one mozzarella stick, one arancini, and a margarita pizza. All for $25. The food is about 3 stars. Nothing wowing, but enjoyable! The happy hour deal is valid on Sundays, so that's was a bonus! Service was fine. The service consistently checked in on the table. He cleaned the plates as we were finished eating, which I appreciated. It's a pretty laid back environment. No bells and whistles. Just a pizza spot that you can easily walk into with the family! We also had the tiramisu cake, and that was pretty tasty. I'm doubt they make it on sight, but that wouldn't stop me from ordering it again. The food 3 stars. Service and price 4 stars.

I love Stellina, they make my favorite seafood squid ink pasta in the area. Everything at Stellina is yummy and so reasonably priced. We always get the cuppo misto which includes various fried seafood. If I'm feeling particularly hungry, we'll also get a pizza to share. All of their locations are casual with indoor and outdoor seating. The locations we have been to have indoor and outdoor options and the service is pretty consistent.

For the size of pizza you better off getting a Red Barron or Digiorno. The large is a small. Save the $15. They're usually on sale at Harris Teeter. Also received the wrong order and got a pepperoni pizza instead of a Margherita. How do you mess that up. Would not recommend.

Visited on a weeknight with no resection. Was quickly greeted and seated at a large four person table near the window (first level). The staff were very prompt with service. We ordered two of the mocktails on the menu - the mojito mocktail was a bit tart and the Rossa fizz was really good (sweet and refreshing). The potato chips were a bit flat/stale. We received a healthy portion of the Brussels sprouts and they were crispy with a hint of sweetness (very good!). The pasta dishes were amazing and filling. And we took home a piece of the cheesecake but they have a good selection of dessert options. Definitely coming back for more pasta and to try the pizza! Free deck parking and paid street parking nearby $

While usually pretty good food, this last trip it seemed the food was somewhat lacking in flavor. The staff are always very nice, which helped, but there was definitely something off. The setting is very casual, and more a place to go with friends or coworkers, but not a special date. Parking is convenient with a free parking garage across the street. This last trip I had the speck and Gorgonzola pizza (which I didn't care for but it's my fault; I don't like for Gorgonzola cheese), and my wife had the pepperoni. This was definitely short of flavor.

My family really enjoyed having our pasta and pizza as well as some mixed drinks. We came after riding the train in Philadelphia so we appreciated late hours. The staff was very efficient making sure that we had all that we needed and quickly so that we could continue enjoying our meal.

I looooved this Pizza! I kept hearing about stellina but for some reasons kept postponing my visit...the I finally ordered from them (so my pizza wasn't super hot when it arrived, but I warmed it on a pan). I am definitely also going to check them out in person, probably in their other location in DC. I had "affumicata" and it was soooo good!! Very rich in terms of flavor, and also a bit heavy, but hey, what can you do, it's pizza after all!!! The dough is just the way I like it, fluffy, yeasty, rich and with that smoky smell I love from wood oven pizza. My aim is to try all of their pizzas (or kind of) because this clearly hit the spot and because the way they combine ingredients is pretty refined and balanced! I can't say anything about ambience and service, but I'll write more about it next time. If quality of food is your main criteria, this is the place!

Pizza was great. You have to eat it at while it's still blistering hot. The tomato sauce is so delicious. It's fresh. To me pizza is about dough and tomatoes. I really enjoy both at Stellina. Cannolis were not as fresh as the last time. Shells felt a little old and the filling felt more one dimensional. It felt much plainer and sweeter. I thought I remembered it being lighter possibly with some lemon zest? We got ignored after our food was delivered. It was fine because we were having a good conversation... It was a bit odd, but I still recommend giving this place a try.

Box of toppings to add to the pizza myself.

When I had ordered previously, I always found that my pie was not ready and I had to wait. Each time, I waited a bit longer, and each time, still not ready. So, this time, ordered my pizza before 9:00 PM and did not depart immediately -- but instead waited a full 20 minutes before even walking there slow. When I arrived, the pizza was..... still not ready. It occurs to me that this shop is situated in a time zone that is somehow TEN MINUTES BEHIND the time your order is due. The guy says "five minutes." In any case, I stand, I wait.... and I.... wait some more. It wasn't five minutes. Lots of workers standing. Nearing the 9:30 mark, someone finally says "have you been helped?" And whadda ya know? Found out the reason I was still waiting - BECAUSE MY PIE WAS SITTING THERE THE WHOLE DAMN TIME! Getting cold. She says "we're just getting that cut up." But they weren't - it was already cut. They took one of their old pies off the rack and slid it right into a box. It wasn't in the oven. I could feel it was cold, but yes, I took it and went home. I can't say you couldn't eat it but.... it wasn't good. We did eat some of it, but only after baking it in my own oven. Good thing I ordered in advance, eh? If you are going to do a take out here, my advice would be to skip ordering altogether, and just go there and get the slices yourself. They won't be too fresh, but at least it will be fast. Better yet, go across the street to Quincy Hall, (or over to Wise Guys) where they will bake the pizza to order and have it hot and ready when you arrive. Keep in mind here they charge $32 for a pizza, full price only. NOT worth it, won't be back, do not recommend.

Once you step inside, you're led downstairs into the dining area. The restaurant may appear small from the outside, but it's surprisingly spacious with a beautiful atmosphere inside. The menu has so many options that deciding what to order can be a challenge, especially since the dishes are on the pricier side. However, the quality and experience make it completely worth it. I would happily spend all my adult money here! The pasta was absolutely incredible, and the arancini balls were some of the best I've had. Even the bread and butter stood out--the bread was soft and warm with the perfect crunchy crust. The place is very moodily charming because you're on a basement level with no natural light, so everything is dark and the vibe is Italian grandma kitsch. The whole thing manages to work. They were busy, and our waitress, who was highly professional (honestly she seemed like she could be a government employee) was being pulled to some VIP table in their back room (which we were seated adjacent to), so she was not as available as we would have liked. We got a couple cocktails and started with the Caesar salad and the meatballs. For a place that boasts about its portion sizes, there were only two meatballs, and they were fine. The free bread wasn't impressive, especially considering the extraordinary bread situation that we had at The Dip the previous evening. The salad was undersalted and kinda bland. So, overall, not the most promising beginning. We all shared the one main dish of Linguini Cardinale after our waitress sold us on it. It's sort of like a vodka sauce that mated with lobster, and it was delicious, but it was quite rich and heavy. We did like it though. Dessert was where we went all out with the strawberry cheesecake, the pistachio strawberry mousse cake, and the dark chocolate mousse cake. The one that had pistachio was terrible--everything tasted artificial and the texture wasn't right. The chocolate one was OK. Luckily the cheesecake was where it was at. It's not Junior's-level or anything, but compared to the other two, it stood out. We're glad we came here to have tried it once and we had a good time as a family, so it'll be a fond memory. We don't feel a pressing need to return, but we would recommend it for folks to try once.
