We have been visiting Stellina for years and their pizza has been consistently good -- perfectly airy dough with a crispy crust, light tomato sauce and excellent ingredients that instantly deliver a classic Italian experience! Our favorite ones are Cotto&Funghi and Amatriciana that comes with smoky Guanciale (cured pork cheek). All other food that my husband and I have tried from their menu has been delicious, too! If I am not in a mood for pizza, my second choise is always their classic lasagna. The atmosphere is nice and friendly service makes the dining experience truly special! Even though we live in Tysons, I must say that we prefer Shirlington location over the former one because of the cozier space, amiable servers and overall better service. read more

We did a little girls night type thing here on a Thursday night and it was pretty quiet at first. But then more people started to roll in. The service was pretty good in the beginning. They came to check in on us as we were waiting on one more person in our party to join us who was running a bit behind. We all ordered drinks, and they were pretty good. A bit on the stronger side. The pizzas all came in and we got to try a bit from each other. Some were better than others. I got the basil/pesto pizza with zucchini. Mine was good but a bit too salty. My friend got Corazziera which was the best pizza at the table in my opinion. Overall, I think I'd skip this place. There are better options. Unbelievably good. This pizza is outstanding. I also loved the bread and fried cheese. Service was very welcoming. I thought the atmosphere was nice also. Honestly I can't understand why people crowd into gimmicky restaurant in Shirlington (like Palette 22 which is all show, no substance) when Stellina is serving such reliably high quality food and drinks at value prices a half block away. Stellina has really hit its stride. This place was already a reliable choice in Shirlington, but the salads have improved, the pizzas are more consistent, the specials are better, the bar and the service are terrific, and even the desserts are impressive. The food was ok. I got the Happy Hour special which was a GREAT deal. It comes with a cocktail, house made chips, one mozzarella stick, one arancini, and a margarita pizza. All for $25. The food is about 3 stars. Nothing wowing, but enjoyable! The happy hour deal is valid on Sundays, so that's was a bonus! Service was fine. The service consistently checked in on the table. He cleaned the plates as we were finished eating, which I appreciated. It's a pretty laid back environment. No bells and whistles. Just a pizza spot that you can easily walk into with the family! I love Stellina, they make my favorite seafood squid ink pasta in the area. Everything at Stellina is yummy and so reasonably priced. We always get the cuppo misto which includes various fried seafood. If I'm feeling particularly hungry, we'll also get a pizza to share. We ordered two of the mocktails on the menu - the mojito mocktail was a bit tart and the Rossa fizz was really good (sweet and refreshing). The potato chips were a bit flat/stale. My friend didn't mind because she doesn't get cold. I ordered Cacio E Pepe and my friend ordered gnocchi. The food was very good, but it wasn't like home. Run good. I may try it one more time to try the pizza, but I will not order the pasta again. It had too much butter on it for me. Located where cafe pizzaolo once was, it was an open environment. Restrooms are upstairs and the elevator was out of service so go anyone with mobility issues that would be a problem. Portion size was perfect. A couple of downsides: the Pizza Bento special listed online wasn't available, and the dining area was chilly since the heat wasn't working. Still, it didn't take away from the food or experience. The prices are very high for the size of the food that you get! However, the food was pretty good. One pizza can be easily split between just a couple people both not eating much to begin with and I know others have mentioned how their pizzas are smaller. I liked the plain simple pizza. The crust was good and doughy. I also tried the cacio e Pepe which was an incredibly small serving for $20 but was delicious! This dish does get oily however after sitting for a bit. My lover carried me in here after running a marathon as a reward. It wasn't too busy so we got exceptional service. It was a very nice place with some Halloween skeletons displayed out front. I kept hearing about stellina but for some reasons kept postponing my visit...the I finally ordered from them (so my pizza wasn't super hot when it arrived, but I warmed it on a pan). I am definitely also going to check them out in person, probably in their other location in DC. I had "affumicata" and it was soooo good!! Very rich in terms of flavor, and also a bit heavy, but hey, what can you do, it's pizza after all!!! The dough is just the way I like it, fluffy, yeasty, rich and with that smoky smell I love from wood oven pizza. My aim is to try all of their pizzas (or kind of) because this clearly hit the spot and because the way they combine ingredients is pretty refined and balanced! We came here for a family dinner on Saturday evening with my parents and our toddler. The vibe was fun and chill on the upper level. We had both food allergies and a vegetarian with dietary restrictions in our party that can make it harder to dine in certain Italian restaurants that make their own pasta in-house with eggs, so we informed our server and he made sure to check every item. I really appreciated how many options there were on the kid's menu, rather than just grilled cheese and fries. Everything we had was excellent, from the service to the food. My parents liked the win rec, and I loved my mezcal cocktail. For appetizers we had the arugula and fennel salad, the Brussels sprouts, and the fried artichokes, which everyone loved. For mains we got the gnocchi, squid ink seafood pasta, and lasagna. We also got two pizzas, including an off-menu vegetarian pizza that our server recommended, and crust had the perfect Neopolitan chew and char. I like their pizza. It's tasty with a nice crust. Love their mozzarella in carrozza. Normally, I wouldn't think much of homemade chips but theirs are really good and crispy. I see the great reviews, but I wasn't such a big fan. I went for brunch. I think they have a good priced brunch. It's $35 per person. The whole table must participate to get this offer. I think we ordered the carbonara pizza. My biggest problem with this item is that it tasted very much like leftovers. We also ordered the Smashed potatoes, and the Stellina Toast. Yeah, we had a carb overload. The toast was the one I really like. I do like that they bring a bottle of champagne and OJ, and you can make your mimosas to taste. Shirlington is killing it with great restaurants! I am a bit late to saying welcome, Stellina but you are so welcomed here! I am super jazzed to have a fantastic pizza place in our neighborhood. I've tried a variety of pizzas and they are all excellent - they nail the neo-neapolitan style with perfectly chewy crust. However, the affumicata absolutely blew my mind! If you are craving for smokey flavors (helllloo sweater weather!) then this one is for you. It has triple the smoke with smoked pecorino crema, smoked mozzarella and smoked cherry tomatoes! The speck was beautifully salty and cured. The smokiness and saltiness was then balanced out with sweet and juicy figs. My god, this is really the pizza of my dreams. Check out the negronis here also. Quite delicious! The staff is super friendly and nice (and fast)! They even gave our puppy a sweet bandana and water when we dined here yesterday.
