Great delivery service performed by Hector and Will. They arrived on time, in fact a few minutes early. Very friendly, removed their shoes and put down a mat to protect my floors. Hit a few snags because things in my house were a little old but didn't let it stop them. Hector came prepared with his tool bag and had everything he needed. Our technician Jann was great. Beyond that the service was terrible. Sterling appliance wasnt able to complete the job that Jann had started. I was told the part would take 3-5 days to come in and they will not schedule the technician until the part arrives because "a lot of times they receive a broken part" which would mean you need to wait another 3-5 days. So in the waiting process we got tired of not receiving any help or any care to expedite their service. It took one call to a competitor of theirs and they were able to get the part and a technician over same day. read more

I was told to go there by my realtor. I'm a bachelor and just needed to replace my 28 yr old stove and microwave with nothing special. Richard found the stove (builder grade) I saw on the Home Depot site. He told me the shortcomings and showed me a floor model and better stove that was discontinued but he could not find a matching microwave. I bought the one I came in for and the matching microwave - then the next day decided to upgrade. He found me another discontinued but better model and ordered the microwave. l really appreciate that Richard (and his coworkers) listened to what I wanted and gave me something better for a comparable price. read more

The MOST rude customer service ever experienced. JOHN has a serious attitude that needs adjusting. You are a business, not someone speaking to a friend. Act like it. John was huffing and puffing and sighing on the phone when trying to get a problem resolved that happened right after one of the repairmen left. He kept interrupting and talking over and had a very rude attitude and not a service and selling disposition at all. I work retail, and we NEVER speak to a customer the way he spoke. I posted about Sterling Appliance 3 years ago when they resolved an issue really quickly. On Monday afternoon we discovered that our fridge wasn't working. We'd bought an extended warranty through Sterling Appliance. We don't buy extended warranties for everything but always for fridges. Lynn from Sterling Appliance walked us through the process on the phone, filed our claim with the warranty provider, followed up with LG, and within less than 48 hours we had a new compressor installed. Bought a GE stacked washer and dryer back in November 2022. Dryer started making noise in February. Since it is under warranty, GE technician came out, said those units were just junk but replaced a belt. He damaged the washer, putting it back so it wouldn't work. Ordered parts, which took another two weeks to get put in by a different tech. Now the whole dryer drum has come loose inside the machine. Sterling Appliances will not help us deal with GE because the junk that they sold us is under warranty. Unable to get past the sales dept to even talk to the owner. read more

We had a different repair company come out the day before Sterling came out and they were not able to repair our washer as they said it was a two man job to remove the dryer on top and that they would need to order parts to do the repair which could take up 2-3 weeks, with an estimate of $577. Sterling Appliance was able to send a tech out quickly and Gedion the tech was able to unlock our washer without having to remove the dryer or any additional parts or repairs, out washer is running great. Wife & I went shopping for replacement washer/dryer end of June 2023. Went first to Sterling Appliance and was immediately attended to by Ryan P., who walked us efficiently through options available in the store. Discovered that our townhouse washer/dryer location (upstairs) was too small too accommodate some newer front-loader options, so we assessed the Speed Queen (SQ) commercial washer/dryer pairs which would fit our space. Purchased the SQ 7000-series washer/dryer pair which included about every option we could imagine, including steam refresh in the dryer, multiple pre-programmed cycles in both the washer and dryer, and a 7-year full warranty. Installation was scheduled for about a week out and went like clockwork with installers explaining both machine operation and care as part of their customer service install-package. After five months regular use, we continue to be 100% satisfied with the machines we chose. (About one-month in, I asked my wife whether she was satisfied with our purchase: "I never thought I would be excited about purchasing a new washer/dryer, but these things are awesome: everything works as advertised, and I love the steam refresh option in the dryer!" I am a tough customer. Not because I'm nasty, but I have a small space in my 1974 townhouse to put in a washer and dryer stack. Also, I have an issue with chemical smells and the washers with the anti- microbial gussets have a smell that set me off. Even with all this, the guys at the Sterling location were kind and patient. When I called Sterling Appliance, the counter lady told me her vendor could have one shipped in from Albany, NY by Friday at a cost of, $123.00. "However", she said, "our competitor has eight of these in stock at a cost of only $111.00, would you like their phone number and address?" The whole experience reminded me of the classic 1947 movie,"Miracle on 34th Street" when the Macy's Santa Claus directs customers to Gimbel's for products Macy's doesn't have or is selling at a reduced price. We needed a new microwave to be attached to the bottom of a new cabinet that was being installed. Our contractor told us to get one that attaches and to be sure to buy a hanging kit, unless the microwave comes with it already (some do). Well, we went to Sterling Appliance, a business we have used and recommended since the early 70's. We always had good service. However, the business has been sold and unfortunately, we will never return. Richard is who we dealt with. My husband was at another store so I did most of the talking. He paid for it when he came into the store. I told Richard that this microwave was one that needed to be attached to the bottom of the cabinet and that we would need to also buy the hanging kit. We also bought a hood for above the stove. Richard wrote up all 3 on the invoice and when my husband returned he paid for the items. We left thinking everything was ok. We picked up the appliances and the hanging kit at their warehouse a few days later and when our contractor opened up the microwave box, he told us it was a countertop microwave and not one that could be attached to the cabinet. I was horrified so immediately called and spoke to Richard. Or tried to speak to him. He was rude and spoke so fast that I could hardly get a word in. He insisted that "my husband" had ordered the countertop microwave. I tried to remind him that I had done the ordering, carefully explaining that we needed a microwave that could be attached to a cabinet. He talked right over me as I was trying to make sense of what had happened. I asked him why he would sell me a hanging kit if this was a counter top appliance? That made no difference to Richard. He kept talking rapid fire insisting that it was what my husband had ordered. He told us we would have to pay a 15% charge if we returned it. I said we would not because it was his error and not ours. My husband then talked to him. Same rapid fire conversation that went nowhere. At one point my husband told him to take a deep breath. George asked to speak to the manager but that didn't really help the situation at that moment. So then our contractor talked to Richard. Or tried to. Our contractor reminded Richard that businesses rely on happy customers and that when customers have issues they talk--a lot. Which is what I'm doing with this review. Our contractor returned the microwave and hanging kit for us and ordered the correct one from Sterling Appliance. We did get a call saying that they would not charge us the 15% but no apology. We are sorry that we will no longer give them our business. But, I worked retail for years and this experience was unlike anything I've ever experienced before. Richard needs to realize that he cannot treat customers in that manner. And, when a mistake has been made, to own up to it. He would not have lost us as customers if he had done that one thing. read more

Worker for company didn't show up to work, didn't call work. Called appliance company during day of delivery and they explained the worker had decided to come in 2hrs late that day. Sterling appliance gave me NO NOTICE and when I called to ask they had no idea their employee wasn't at work. I then asked what they could do to fix everything, and Sterling said "Well I said I'm sorry what else do you want??" Had to waste a full day of PTO because Sterling can't be bothered to track employees...and their response multiple times was "deal with it" The office told me the delivery rep "would be there in 20m" ... 1hr later nobody had showed up yet... Went to look at appliances and two employees weren't wearing masks. One was sitting at the desk the other was at the counter greeting customers and answering questions. As soon as I realized he wasn't wearing a mask I stepped about 12' away from the counter then had to leave the store since I'm high risk! I thought it was a State law to wear a mask in businesses and restaurants! Needless to say I won't be stepping foot inside the store again so will have to buy my full set of kitchen appliances for a remodel elsewhere! read more

Our Whirlpool washer and dryer are now 13 years old. In that time, we've had to have repairs done twice to the washer and twice to the dryer. Each time we called Sterling Appliance and each time we've always been very pleased with their work. The first time the washer needed work, we called Whirlpool's "800" number and they told us to call a place in Leesburg. Well...I called and got their voice mail---this was in the middle of the day in the middle of the work week. Not wanting to wait and see if they would return the call, we called Sterling Appliance. Someone immediately answered the phone---and that has been the case everytime we've called. They've always been honest and prompt in their dealings with us. For example, they will tell you right up front that their will be a service call charge when a repair person comes to the house. Lately, that cost has been $79. They always show up on the day they say they'll be there and, if not at the exact time, very soon after it. The only downside---sometimes they are very booked up and can take a few days to get to you. For example, we called them last Thursday about the washer and the soonest they could get to us was Monday. Our machine was fixed without having to pay a fortune. One thing that surprised my husband --- the repair man told him to hang on to our machine as long as possible since it doesn't have a computer in it. He told my husband that the new ones with the computers seem to break down quite a bit. We don't mind holding on to our old machines, as long as the repair work doesn't cost more than a new machine. So...If you find yourself needing repairs on your washer or dryer, don't hesitate to give Sterling Appliance a call!l read more

Its really a substandard sales experience staffed by loafers behind a counter hiding behind a computer. Sears had more personality may they rest in peace. Sterling Appliance was super helpful, very responsive and able to come out within 24 hours of me calling. Their technicians, Gidian and another kind gentleman, were super professional and friendly. They came on time and went above and beyond to try to help me. I unfortunately had to replace my dryer and Richard, their sales representative, was able to immediately order the best option for me and will have it install it next week. As a mom of 4 kids, not having a working dryer is not fun and I really appreciate how well they treated me and gave me the best option to fit my budget. The salespeople and delivery people at Sterling Appliance are absolutely amazing to work with. The downside is the service after the sale and the warranties that they sell. The good: We bought an Electrolux front-loading washer and dryer for our new home in September. They sold us floor models at a greatly discounted price, which we appreciated. The day before delivery they found that the dryer was tagged electric but it was actually gas. Their salesperson took a truck to a competitor's store in D.C. and picked up an electric dryer; there was no charge to us. The bad: Along with this, we purchased the extended warranties (about $350) but the warranties that they sold, and were delivered, did not cover front-loading washers and dryers and specifically noted that on the warranty. The ugly: Regarding the warranties, A call for the salesperson and a message for the manager was never returned. Otherwise, this would have been a 5-star experience. read more

I recently purchased a new fridge from Sterling. I am seeing these negative reviews, but my experience was fantastic. From talking to Richard the sales person to the above-and-beyond delivery I was very satisfied with every stage of my experience. It was extremely hard for the delivery guys to get my broken fridge out of the house because it was so oversized. They took off doors to my bathroom and basement; practically dismantled the entire front of the fridge and worked diligently to remove the appliance. Much easier getting the new one installed because it was not so large. They were very patient and thorough. Would buy another appliance from Sterling. read more

Our washing machine was working but was occasionally dripping water, so we had Sterling Appliance take a look. They guessed that it may need a new water valve so they ordered a new one and came out a couple of weeks later and after some cussing told us that the machine was no longer working and they could order new parts but it would take a month or more and couldn't guarantee so we're shopping for a new one. Probably should have gone with a Whirlpool repairman.. they also wanted to charge us $140 to take down our stackable dryer off of the washing machine (it took 2 of us 10 seconds to do so). read more

How can Sterling even get one star? What a horrible experience I had for a repair. The technician was about the rudest man I have ever met. I'm sorry I let him into my house. He looked under the dishwasher and under the sink and said they were dry. Yes, they are dry because I haven't run the broken dishwasher. He said all the tubing was new when Sterling installed the DW two years ago. Of course it was new. Did you check the connections? No. Did you pull out the DW? No. Did you run the DW? No. I told him it was leaking somewhere as my floor was clearly buckled. He said it was structural and the house needed repair. I said that I can hear it dripping out under the countertop. He still would not pull out the DW. I told him to leave and I paid him after he insulted me for the third time. Later I noticed he wrote on the ticket that he ran the DW four times and it did not leak. Lie. He never ran it. Getting him out of my house was the best $80 I ever spent. I wanted to deal with a small appliance store when I purchased the DW, as I felt the employees would be held accountable and be presentable to the company. I might as well have gone to Best Buy for all the experienced and professional service I got. read more

I contacted Sterling Appliance because I have an upright freezer that isn't working. I described the problem to the person on the phone, who gladly set up an appointment for a technician to come to my home and check it out. The tech came out, and without even starting the appliance, told me I should just get a new freezer because the compressor is bad. I plugged it in, because I felt that he should at least observe the operation of the freezer, which apparently confirmed his initial opinion. So, if this is such a cut and dry problem, why didn't the guy on the phone just tell me it was a dud instead of charging me $80 to visit me. The guy on the phone conducted himself as if he was knowledgable (he asked the right questions), but chose to send someone out anyway. I will NOT call them or buy from them again. I wish I could give less than one star. I ordered an induction stove from Chris, one of the owners. I waited over a week to get it. Today it was delivered and the convection oven would not work. One of the installers is a co-owner and he had no idea how to operate the stove. He had to read the manual and could never get the oven to come on. I refused delivery and they took the stove away. When I called Chris to get a refund he said he "was not going to take my crap," refused to refund my money, and hung up on me. This went on through ten phone calls. I called the police to see what they advised and was told I would have to take him to court. I finally called the credit card company and disputed the charge. This is appalling customer service! Sterling Appliance was recommended to me but I would advise others to stay away! This has been a very upsetting experience, especially when I was spending $2000 on a stove I don't have! One more thing: at the time I ordered the stove I asked if it had a glide rack. Chris assured me it did. I asked three times because I did not see it in the specs. Chris continued to say he was positive it had a glide rack. When it was delivered, guess what? No glide rack! Liar! One day this will come full circle and bite him back. read more

Avoid! After 5 visits to my house to "fix" the refrigerator, and several hundred dollars, the problem is worse. First replaced the thermostat, which didn't work. Then came to replace the defrost heater, but brought the wrong part. After a pause due to the pandemic, it took five weeks of frequent phone calls to get the tech back out, again with the wrong part. As soon as he left, the slow leak we called about was a fast leak instead. The service manager claims there is nothing they can do about their poor service, does not return phone calls, and does not keep commitments. The tech seems to be randomly guessing and selling more and more repairs to cover for not being able to identify the problem. I am sorry to not be able to support a local business, but this one is a hard pass. read more

This is the first time we've shopped at Sterling Appliance - we chose to give this local shop our business over the big box stores. The entire experience deserves a 5+ Star rating!! My husband purchased our new gas oven - Sean (one of the owners) was really helpful and made the buying process quick & seamless. They had the gas oven we wanted in stock and scheduled our delivery within the week! The drivers arrived on time and even provided me with a 1/2 call ahead. The two gentleman wore masks and were very efficient in uninstalling old oven, installing new and hauling away our old gas oven. They removed all of the packaging and were in & out within a 1/2 hour. This review is a year later from my experience.... After a horrible experience @ a well known store (check my other reviews) , I ended up @ STERLING APPLIANCE. We were in the market for a refrigerator and ended up purchasing the fridge, dishwasher, and a cook-top.... The staff was great, there was no up-selling. As a matter of fact, Chris, (an agent) recommended a less expensive option that he said was a better value. :) There was an issue with the SAMSUNG Dishwasher we'd purchased. This particular unit was a LEMON.... . This was not the stores fault. Sterling Appliance was on the case with SAMSUNG... It was a happy ending-we swapped out for a G.E...Sterling gave us the dishwasher as an even exchange, even though the G.E. was several hundred dollars more. I liked the mom/pop feel of the store. They are extremely competitive with other larger stores. As fr as the technicians who did the installations---they were prompt, courteous and thorough. Don't be dissuaded by competitors who offer big deals. My experience was spot on! As an aside, they have been in business over 20 years. Proof to me they are doing something Right... read more

Terrible service. I bought clothes dryer from Aldi and it broke after 2 years while still under warranty ( 3 years) I tried to contact Sterling appliance. There was no phone number and I emailed them through their website 4 times with no response. I am very disappointed I had to buy another one. I will not buy any appliance from Aldi. read more

I cannot begin to even tell you all of the things that this business does to make you never want to go back. I would recommend not going there at all. It starts with when you walk in, there is a bell that rings, but not one of the 5 people in the back gets up or even greets you. You have to go to the back of the store and say something to them. Then, when you shop, they will not tell you all of the extra costs associated with your install. Then, when you come the next day, they spring the extra costs on you when you purchase the appliances, even though you told them the "special" situation the day before. Then, when you come back to ask and complain about the surprise extra costs associated with your install, they will give you attitude and not just the sales person, someone in the back will chime in against you as well, even though they are not involved in the conversation. Then, when you send a private message to the owner to try to resolve the situation, you will get a response telling you that you were condescending and sarcastic and blame you for their attitude and then, you agreed to charges and sorry you the customer were badly behaved but that doesn't excuse the sales person's attitude, and I talked you him. And then, going forward, I wish you luck. So, you complain, get blamed for their attitude and told have a nice day. Then, you hope beyond hope the install goes well. They do show up on time and take away the old appliances. But, the "intricate" install I paid extra for from a shop that ONLY sells appliances was okay. They didn't make any effort to fit the appliances in better than they are. I do know that we are limited by the bottom venting dryer and the hole in the closet, but I thought maybe the extra cost of the install would bring some knowledge of how to fit the dryer in with venting to the hole in the floor, so that the dryer is not jammed at the back of the closet, so we can't even use the valve to turn off the water, and the washer is not so far to the left. They forgot the stepstool at the warehouse and used our cooler in the basement as a stepstool and because it was hot outside, did all of the special dryer venting in my bedroom. He did ask, and I said ok. But, why was I even asked at all? So, all in all, I was treated badly, told we don't care about your business and had a meh install. Next time, big box store or the appliance store that does care about your business. read more

On the day that my range was delivered I was surprised that my salesman, Ryan was also one of my installers, but it makes sense since he knew so much about the product.
