I recommend you NOT use this company. We had a really bad experience with one of the owners (I believe his name is Chris). When I called to confirm the early appointment for a measurement of space at our condo, the owner told me I was incorrect and told me the time was now moved to late afternoon instead of early morning. He immediately became defensive. When I called back and spoke to him shortly after the first call, and calmly told him we were canceling our order for a washer/dryer, he proceeded to hang up on me. When I called back to finish asking for a full refund - I politely asked him not to hang up on me and he denied doing it. We had to drive to the store to get the refund. At the store Chris pulled more of the same attitude. This guy must have something over this company because he is bad for business and he would be an embarrassment to any company. I recommend avoiding this place as you may have to work with this disgruntled and rude personality. Two pieces of advice - 1) find a better place to shop for appliance services, and 2) pray hard for this guy - he seriously needs it. read more

Excellent experience. I did my research from out of state and then went to their online app to look at what they carried. I called and ordered a dishwasher and arranged for delivery/installation in two weeks when we were in town. I got a call that morning from the serviceman Miguel that he was on the way. He arrived and was very efficient and knowledgeable. We had an issue with the garbage disposal (plug was still in the dishwasher drain connected) which caused a problem with the dishwasher when he tested it out. I wish I could give negative stars. Two old guys came to our house to fix our dryer and wine fridge. First they started off with banging on my garage door, to which I did not answer being home alone. I waited for them to ring the front doorbell, which they finally did. Once I opened the door they bitched at me saying they had been knocking on the other door. Then they just walked right in like they lived here. Wouldn't even say hello, etc. It was arguments the entire way for 15 minutes and then I kicked them out of my house. Do NOT call this company. They are horrible and incredibly unprofessional. I hope the owner of this business sees these reviews and makes some changes. I don't even know how they are still in business. I saw an ad for a full kitchen set: micro, range, fridge and dw. The finish was black SS. Brand Samsung. Model numbers and all in the ad, So I knew exactly what I was going in for, wanted to see the finish, I haven't seen black SS before. I looked at every appliance they had on the floor, not only did they not have the finish on the floor, they didn't have a single Samsung appliance in the place either. Called the service department to speak with someone I had been working with about a repair problem. After a lengthy hold, they said he didn't work there anymore (they weren't convincing). I'm beginning to think they cherry-pick the jobs they want and kick to the curb the repair jobs they don't want. Extremely happy with our fast, courteous, and professional repair job by Shane at Sterling Appliance! The defrost freezer drain for our Maytag refrigerator had clogged, and water was starting to drip down onto the top shelves of the fridge section. Sterling scheduled us within just a few days (not an emergency, and our calendar wasn't free sooner, so we were happy with the scheduling). Shane quickly located the problem and disassembled the freezer back, defrosting and clearing the blockage, and testing it to make sure all was good. Would definitely use them again. read more

Their service department is terrible. Charged $80 to what they call "diagnosis" of the problem and then asked for another extra for labor plus parts. The last time I checked labor charge should be adjusted with the diagnosis charge if done at the same time. I purchased a refrigerator, dishwasher, range and microwave for a rental property from Sterling Appliances on 11/2014, along with extended repair warranties. Shortly after the dishwasher manufacturer's warranty expired, it needed a repair. "Service Protection Advantage", also, called: "Federal Warranty Service Corporation" and "Assurance Solutions", cannot honor the warranty on a Bosch dishwasher. It's been 4 days and they still can't set up the repair. Sterling told me it was my problem, between me and the warranty company. (A week later and the warranty company has finally found a repair person. I'll update after I see how the repair goes tomorrow.) I subsequently purchased a KitchenAid dishwasher for another location, from Home Depot, along with the extended warranty. There was an issue with the DW door not shutting. One phone call had the appointment set up in a timely manner, technician addressed the issue. Problem solved. Wish I had made the previous purchases there. read more

This place is absolutely terrible! We haven't had a washer/dryer for a month and it was supposed to be delivered today before 1pm so 1pm rolls around and no one's here so we called and they said they would be here between 1pm and 3pm with absolutely no explanation as to why they couldn't get here before 1pm. Then at 3pm still no one so we call again and they say the guy should be here by 4pm and they will call him then call us back. They never called us back we had to call them and the guy says he will be here by 5pm this is completely unacceptable and the customer services reps are rude when you are frustrated with them because we haven't had a washer/dryer in a freaking month and they can't get their act together enough to send someone out at a decent time. read more

So we called, and of course, they made a lame excuse and said were scheduled for a Saturday delivery, somehow after getting a phone call a week before to schedule a Friday delivery, with phone records to prove it. We recently remodeled our kitchen. We had used Sterling Appliance with good results in the past and felt a full service store would be a better option than buying online or at a big box store where you are basically your own contractor. So we visited them again. We met with Rick when we arrived. He was very knowledgeable guided us through the selection process, including letting us know what was on sale, and we ended up with exactly the appliances that we wanted for our new kitchen. He scheduled delivery for when our contractor needed them and everything went perfectly. Even the delivery people could not have been more congenial. However, when our contractor unboxed one of the ovens there was a huge dent where the door handles had been shoved in. It had obviously been dropped onto the door at some point. I called Rick and within a few minutes he had a replacement unit on the way from the factory. He even expedited delivery so it would not delay the remodeling. Our new kitchen is now complete; the appliances are beautiful and work perfectly; and through this whole process Rick has been there for us. We couldn't be more pleased with him and highly recommend Sterling Appliance. read more

While I trust their customer service, I would not recommend buying a GE appliance from them. I bought a GE microwave previously with no problems; however, my recent purchase of a GE range and refrigerator has been a nightmare quality control wise. The refrigerator ice maker did not work, and it took a GE technician two trips to solve the issue by finally replacing the unit and valve. Also when the Sterling Appliance installer reversed the door three of the screw cap covers didn't fit. The glass top on the range was scratched, and Sterling Appliance ordered a replacement. It arrived also damaged and now second top has been ordered. (The shipping container was intact). The refrigerator screw cap covers were also ordered and they came in the wrong size. Sterling Appliance has been working to resolve these issues, so I thank them, but "Made in America" needs some quality control training at the GE plant. Never again GE. read more

My wall oven/microwave broke and when I went to look for replacements, I did not realize how expensive wall oven combo's can be (on average $2700). I called Sterling Appliance to see if they did repairs and whether or not it'd be worth fixing. They scheduled an appointment for the next day and explained that I'd have to pay $80 for a service charge regardless. I get that as it costs them money to send people out. The guys they sent were very courteous, knowledgeable,and professional. It turned out to be the element and since they didn't have one on hand, they called in for a part, picked it up and replaced it all within in an hour. Best of all, the cost! I'll call them for all of my appliance and service needs. read more

POOR service. Only want to take your money. Shop and buy elsewhere. Bought an LG refrigerator and a full size freezer PLUS extended warranty they offered 3 yrs ago. Fridge's compressor stopped working. I call them for service. They never mentioned a fee to come out. I asked if they repaired the fridge I bought and they said yes. Guy comes to my house, walks in and sees it is an LG fridge and says "we don't repair those. Sorry to tell you that when you have to pay &80 for me to come out for nothing" So I guess he just goes around and collects checks all day. Then, when I try to call the extended warranty company, they have no record of me because Sterling didn't finish their part of the warranty info. Now I have been fighting the warranty company for a month with several LONG calls just for food loss reimbursement but it isn't going anywhere because Sterling Appliance has to do something with the account management and hasn't. Everytime I call, I am on hold for up to 30 minutes before I get a live person and then it takes another 20 minutes of giving the same info over and over just to be told, "someone will call you back" and they never do. Everything about this whole transaction has been POOR! Sterling Appliance doesn't service their appliances (though they lead you to believe they do). They just charge you money to tell you the won't repair. And they sell worthless warranties. I asked for a refund of my warranty since I can't get any service out of it and I can't even get that. Buyer beware---fool and his money soon parted at Sterling Appliance. read more

sterling appliance was the worst company i ever worked with. not only did they give me a hard time when they arrived to install, they haulded away the old unit when i wanted to give it to someone else and after they charged me $125 to connect the machine they told me that i had no hot water coming out of the water supply, so i had to pay $150 to get a plumber out only to confirm that there was no problem with the hot water! then they were super rude on the phone, the manager even, when i called to talk to him about it. read more

Good: - The stove was fixed properly. Bad: - They lied about how much labor would cost. Details: They charged $69 for the labor upfront. I later got another labor bill for $95 after the repairs were completed. When I complained I was told that I had been misinformed and that the $69 charge was just for "diagnosing" the problem. The problem with this is I did the "diagnosis" myself. When I called to originally schedule the repair the person I was speaking to on the phone recommended the wrong part. I knew this because I did the research. I even told them which part to order. The technician just put it in. When I informed them of this they said, "That doesn't matter. You owe us $95.00." If a company wants to charge someone $160 to fix a stove, fine. But don't lie about it how much it will cost and don't charge customers for work they had to do for you. read more

Found Sterling Appliance on another app and called them about an intermittently leaking dishwasher. Dale called to say he was on his way and gave me an ETA, caame when he said he would, fixed the problem in short order, and stayed to make sure it continued to not leak. He was polite and professional and suggested I put water alarms under the dishwasher and behind my washing machine as I have hard wood floors throughout the house. Can't ask for much more than that. I was happy with the service. 2nd time - the glass in the door of my microwave oven shattered on the self-clean cycle, so I called Sterling Appliance and had them do the repairs. They ordered the part and came and installed it the next day. That's twice now I've used them, perfectly happy with them! read more

Asked them to reverse the opening side of the dryer door and they messed it up so the dryer would not close after two uses. Simple assignment but were not capable of doing it correctly. Had to call GE and pay for a service call when they could not come out and correct their mistake in a timely fashion. Better off going to Best Buy for your next appliance. My experience with these guys was terrible. Just to let people know, Yelp allows business to have (solicit and publish) 2-3 different reviews for 'free', so not all you see as reviews for a business are necessarily truthful, just as on amazon and other sites like this. Obviously, my review is NOT solicited. I fully explained to one "manager" what the trouble was with a washing machine, and the tech goes out to examine it for $80.00, their standard initial fee, for a whole 10 minutes to make his diagnosis and states a certain part is needed. It takes 2 days to get that part, and then when he goes back out and puts that part in, he thinks it is another part, in addition to the first part. (Obviously ,he did not spend enough time to fully examine or diagnose anything, initially.) He pulls the first part out (what else did he pull out???) and says I need a second part that costs nearly 2 times what the first part cost. After talking with 2 different technically educated people, no way is the second 'needed' part involved in the particular problem I checked the prices of the 2 parts they have 'diagnosed' as being the problem, and they are wanting to charge 2 - 3 times over the amount stated on searspartsdirect.com. My trust in the tech's competence is lost, and my trust in the company's integrity is lost. read more

The service techs were always great. The guy answering the phones lately is, in my opinion, doing a terrible job. We were a long time customer, but recently the guy that answer the phones has been extremely condescending and rude. We had an appliance that needed repair and their oven guy was not available because of a death in the family. Understandable - I was willing to wait. When I asked why they can't hire more than one person for ovens he proceeded to tell me that he can't find people that "speak English" and "follow through". I recently purchased a GE stackable washer and dryer from Sterling Appliance. My sales person, Deanna was absolutely outstanding! She was very helpful in assisting me with the selection and purchase of a stackable unit the would fit in a constrained laundry space. Sean, the installer was equally outstanding. He was very meticulous in his work and took great care in installing the unit in expert fashion. Special mention must be made of his determination in ensuring that the drain pan properly fit the laundry space. I was referred to Sterling Appliance by a friend who used them to purchase appliances for a full kitchen remodel. I am now also doing the same so I went in to take a look at the options, specifically range hoods. It seems they were short staffed today, but I didn't mind waiting to be helped (I was the only customer in the store - they were helping folks on the phone). When the salesperson came to talk to me, he started out abrasive and rude. He never attempted to answer my questions like a salesperson or sell me anything. I finally just told him nevermind and that I was leaving - after which he gave a last ditch effort which was also abrasive and rude. I'm not sure if all of their salespeople are like this, but it doesn't matter. After that experience, I wouldn't buy gum from these guys. I headed over to one of the big box stores and got way better service. I'd say this is a big problem for a company that only sells appliances and is offering similar prices to "big box stores". Customer service for these types of stores should be their key differentiator. read more

Note: This review is as much a caution against GE as well as Sterling, but we've had no help from the latter. We've been loyal to Sterling for over 20 years, happily purchasing all of our kitchen appliances and washer/dryer replacements on their recommendation without ever shopping around. At least 10 buys over those years. A spring 2015 purchase of a suite of GE appliances for a kitchen reno has been a nightmare, and we now realize we probably would have had better post-purchase support (or at least empathy) from the most impersonal of the box stores. Paid for in February, so we'd have plenty of time to get the cabinetry ready for it, the frig wasn't available when the scheduled delivery date in April came. No one bothered to provide an update to let me know this was going to be a problem. GE ultimately sent a substitute (and less than pleasing) refrigerator a week later than when we needed it "because they no longer make the model" I paid for. Salesman at Sterling said the whole thing was "out of their control." Dishwasher arrived with soaking wet documentation, including user manual, inside, and Sterling's delivery guys said: "Of course. Because they always run the dishwasher to check it out." They always run it with the manual and a bottle of rinse aid inside? Super-dooper extra-venting-power microwave doesn't pull any air in. I could have gone with the el cheapo model. I'm living with that for the moment because.... ...I can't cook on my cooktop. Two months after install, the cooktop heat indicator lights stay on overnight, and Sterling's service department tells me I have to deal directly with GE. GE site says to turn it off at the breaker if this happens, so I'm out a cooktop; GE can't find my warranty at first, apparently because it was a 15-month-old appliance that I was sold and it looked at first as though it was out of warranty already (albeit 2 months after I bought it new.....) That cleared up, GE schedules me for one of their approved technicians (A&E, and a state away from where I live) who can't come to look at it for 10 days. At that appt, a new switch has to be ordered and I get set up for next available appt 2 weeks later (supposed to be 8-10 today, phone confirmed as 8-12). Nobody by 2 pm and now I'm rescheduled for first available in 8 more days. Maybe it will be fixed before the warranty actually does expire. Sorry to say I can't recommend Sterling or GE or GE's approved repairpeople to anyone anymore. read more

I have to say that I'm a bit shocked that there are so many less than great reviews. We rent from a property management company who got us in touch with Sterling Appliances when our dishwasher needed to be replaced. We set up a time between 12-2pm and I told the clerk that I was available by phone anytime that day. Around 10:30 this morning, Miguel called me and said that if I was home, he could come earlier if that was more convenient for me. Of course it was! He showed up at 11am and asked me a few questions and then said that I could go about my business and he would let me know when he needed me. Within an hour, he had the old one out and the new one in and had tidied up! He called me downstairs to make sure that I knew what all of the new buttons meant and he was on his way! He was very nice and polite. They did a wonderful job and I hope that if anything else in our home needs replaced, our property management uses them again. read more

I bought a Bosch microwave from Sterling Appliance and had a great experience. The installers were very nice and the microwave works great.

This is a wonderful company! In over 20 years we've never found better prices on appliances, or better repair service, anywhere in the Sterling area. Recently our fridge needed repair; the Sterling Appliance guy arrived right on time, took less than an hour to fix, then (for FREE) disassembled our oven door so we could finally get all those interior panes of glass clean!!! You rarely find repair folks with this level of professionalism and courtesy any more. read more

About a week after buying new appliances for my home, I noticed a dent in the freezer door. I am not sure if it was always there or if it was caused by one of my children. When I called Sterling Appliance to order a replacement door, they stated they would fix it free of charge, despite me not knowing when the dent occurred. They came out to examine my Bosch dishwasher; the repairman, Mouhamad, determined , after just 20 minutes of inspection that I needed to purchase a new dishwasher at $1200 because the motor was broken. A Bosch representative came out this week and laughed when he read the inspection receipt . First of all, there is NO motor in the appliance; its called a pump. Secondly, the bad part was a sensor which cost a total of $300 parts and labor. read more
