By word of mouth I took my Lexus LS430 to Sterling, I thought for sure it was totaled 2 airbags deployed and the damage was so bad I figured there would be no way to return it to its original condition, I received a call from Antonio who advised it could be repaired and explained to me step by step what they were going to do. When Antonio called to tell me my car was ready, I prepared to have to leave it there as the Son of a Father that owned a body shop I knew how to tell if a car was in an accident and prepared to point out all of the things that were wrong, to my surprise the car looked perfect, I lifted the hood and Antonio personally showed me what all was done and replaced. everything was perfect down to even putting every bolt, screw, decals etc. Everything lined up perfect and the paint was a perfect match there was no over spray or missing small parts. Antonio then showed me why, they have frame pullers and the latest technology in paint color matching. and Antonio test drives and inspects everything before it leaves the shop, even took it on 495 to make sure there was no pulling to left or right, noise rattles etc. I liked that His main concern was safety and making sure the car was just as safe as it was before the accident. I liked that he made sure the Air bags showed no alarms and they had the latest equipment to make sure there were no electrical issues. Most shops just do body work and have no working knowledge of the complex wiring and technology in today's cars. Antonio replaced parts that I couldn't see that he could have left off to save a buck, other shops I had been to in the past did the repair as cheap as possible Antonio did no such thing, every part was replaced down to the correct bolt size and color Bottom Line, if you love your car and want it perfect without finding out later at trade in some hack did the body work I highly recommend Sterling Auto. I searched Yelp on a Monday for an auto body shop to fix my bumper. I came across Sterling Auto Body Shop and gave them a call. I was a little frustrated because renting a car was not an option, but the staff at Sterling ABS made it all better! They offered to drop me off to the Metro station and to pick me up when my car was ready! That was something I had not heard from any other shop I had called, so that alleviated my transportation needs for that day. Not only did Sterling ABS finish my car by Wednesday but did they also wash my car, put air in my tires, vacuum the inside and my bumper was PERFECT. The staff is so helpful and friendly. I started using him when Jennifer, our agent at State Farm said, "this guy is great." I've now used him 3-4 times over several years, the last time when we had moderate damage to our car. We've used him for car damage with and without an insurance claim. I've told my wife this each time, "This gentleman is amazing. You finish with his auto repair experience and you feel like you've just had an experience at the Ritz Carleton." He and his staff are incredibly nice. My car failed the emission test, so I brought it into Sterling to get it straight. The manager Antoino, explained what i needed and gave me the estimate on the work. They then ordered the parts and fixed my car with no additional charges. I also swear I had this unrelated emission engine noise that seems to have disappeared since that repair. Women Beware. Had a one good experience, then needed to return in three weeks for repair to the same part of the car. (Unrelated incidents, different drivers, first one was other driver's insurance payment) I sent my daughter to get the estimate since the second damage was her doing. The estimate was done by Jose Giron, who recognized the car but lacked facts, belittled my daughter for damaging the car for the second time in the same place. He would not listen as she told him three times that the first incident was another driver hitting the car, and she wasn't even driving. Jose had NO BUSINESS making an assumption at all. He was wrong on the facts, rude, and worst of all it's pretty clear he most probably would not have treated another man that way. He saw a young lady and couldn't help himself. I liked the feedback and responses from the company to customers. It showed me that they really cared. I told the salesperson I needed to make the repairs to sale my car. He was honest and gave me the cost, but told me it would be cheaper for me to sale as is. He was absolutely right! So, although I didn't use the service the advice was invaluable. If 0 stars was an option I would select that. I believe this is not an honest auto body shop. I took my car to be fixed and when I went to pick it up I immediately noticed a large (about 7 inch) crack in the windshield. The woman working at the shop tried to convince me to take the car with me anyways and that the owner would call me later that day once he had determined whether or not the crack had been there when I first dropped the car off. I refused to take the car with me because a. it was ABSOLUTELY not cracked when I brought the car in, b. I found it unsafe to drive with a very large crack in the windshield and c. I didn't think the shop would own up to the damage if I took the car with me. The owner later called me to say that though thorough pictures were taken of my car when I first brought it in, there were no pictures that "captured" a good enough angle of the windshield to determine whether or not it was already broken. He did end up replacing the windshield - however made it seem like I was being done a favor. In fact, I spoke with the office manager to express my dismay and she said DIRECT QUOTE "Well it's not like the windshield was in perfect condition anyways". This leaves me perplexed because how could she possibly know that the windshield was "not in perfect condition anyways" if there supposedly weren't any pictures that could prove the status of the windshield at the time I brought my car in. It gets worse... About three weeks after having the work done on my car (new wiper motor) the wipers were again non functioning. I brought the car back in (only because I suspected some fault with the original job they did - otherwise I would have gone elsewhere) and was told that it was now a completely unrelated reason that the wipers were non functioning - apparently both wiper arms and mechanisms needed to be replaced. I was told that it would be around $300 for the parts and then service charge on top of that. I decided that if I was going to have to pay someone to fix this problem that I would rather pay anyone BUT Sterling to do so. I dropped my car off at another shop and got a call almost immediately to tell me that the wipers were functioning; nothing needed to be replaced; the bolts simply needed to be tightened. When I called Sterling to express my dissatisfaction the same office manager told me "my mechanic told me that the wiper motor won't last anyways", this being the wiper motor that I had them replace 1 month earlier. As a young woman in my 20's that doesn't know much about auto mechanics I feel like I have been greatly taken advantage of by Sterling. read more

Because of my prior experience, I was weary of auto shops, but my anxiety/fear were allayed when I spoke with the owner of Sterling Auto Body Shop, Antonio. I only used Sterling because it was listed by the insurance company for my repair, but I had such a good experience with them that I took my car back when I needed to have work done from another accident (not my fault, I swear). Believe me, it was out of my way to take the car from DC up to Silver Spring, but I'm really glad I did. Antonio is honest and conscientious. I felt that I was being treated as well as my car was. I've used other body shops that seemed like production lines, and I just didn't have confidence in the work that was done. I also didn't feel like they knew me or cared to. It's entirely the other way at Sterling. Everything was explained in detail as Rachel and I walked around the car, and she wrote down the details of what had happened and marked the car for repair. Plus - it might be a small thing - but my kids' food crumbs were vacuumed out of the back seat, and I just really appreciated it. I'm very happy with my experience with Sterling. I took my car here after becoming the victim of a hit and run during the last snow storm (shakes fist angrily). They worked directly with Allstate so I didn't really have to do anything except show up and drop my car off. I would only change two things: a. I would have preferred updates throughout the process- at least once to tell me it was going to be a day or two longer than expected would have been fine. I wasn't given the option of getting any updates and ended up having to call the day I was estimated to have my car back to ask for an update; b. when I did come to pick my car up, I had to wait about 15 minutes which was an annoyance because I came in the middle of the day to avoid possibly getting there late, but I had to get back to work and didn't expect to wait. In fairness, they had left me a voice message requesting a two hour window of when I expected to come pick it up so they could prepare, but I didn't listen to the voice message. However, they do close from about 12:30-1:30 for lunch, which I find odd. What place actually closes for lunch? I know it's a small place, but that was a fairly minor inconvenience as well. Aside from those small things, the customer service was very good. Everyone I spoke to was very professional and I felt like I could trust them. Antonio was very accommodating and answered any questions I had. As a young female, I also appreciate that there are female employees there, which make me feel a little more comfortable to deal with when I'm getting work done on my car. Finally, my car looked amazing when I picked it up: so shiny and clean. It looked much better than when I clean it myself. If I could I would give Sterling Auto Body Shop a 10 out 10., Antonio the owner provided some of the best customer service of my life. It's nice in this day and age to see a family owned business put so much care into their work and to make their customers happiness their number one goal. I recently had someone hit my car and Sterling Autobody was State Farm recommended body shop. Well when I got to Sterling the rental car was not there as State Farm had promised so I was stranded at the shop with no form of transportation and 45 minute wait for a taxi. First of all not only did Sterling stay open late to try to resolve the issue and when a rental car could not be obtained the Antonio went above and beyond and dropped me off at my apartment in his huge F150 truck. In discussions with him in the car ride home I learned that State Farm ranks Sterling Autobody the number three autbody shop in the state of Maryland within their network of Autbody shops that they recommend and I definitely see why the quality of service overall was absolutely fantastic. Originally he informed it would take 6 business days to order the parts were damaged and then to repaint. In the end it only took 4 business days and when Sterling Autobody was finished my car looked even better than before the accident. I mean these guys did a top notch job I was 100% satisfied with the work they did. twice they changed the time when my car should be ready (and not informed me, i had to call) and when finally i came, they forgot to put nozzle (part of the window washing mechanism)on the rear window of the car. they promised to fix it next morning because they didn't have the nozzle in the shop and they should order it. next morning nothing happened. when i called they said they didn't have the nozzle yet and i should wait till afternoon... all other things were repaired properly (at least at first glance) and the people were very polite, but altogether - i had not a fan. read more
