I saw the bad reviews for this place but still decided to give it a shot. I came for an appointment at 11 am. I finally got confirmation that something was wrong with my heated seats at 5pm. I was refused a loaner by the manager. They said they needed to save them for tomorrow. Even though I had an appointment today and they closed in an hour. I couldn't leave my car overnight since I needed transportation for the next day so I still have this seat issue. Avoid the hassle all together and take the drive to Westside Lexus. read more

The good: Very nice waiting area, including a quiet room where you can get a private booth and do some work or reading. Also a nice selection of tea/coffee available. They have a nice system where they pair you with someone who keeps in touch with you and is always available to ask questions. This person informs you of the status of your repairs and gives you estimates on how long they think it will be. - The bad: Almost $300 just to put on a new tire pressure sensor! Half of that was the $150 diagnostic fee. Part of the reason for the high price was that they charged for an hour of labor, although it certainly took less than an hour. I understood over the phone that there was no diagnostic fee, but was informed that there was after I had arrived. I felt a bit of an impatient dismissive energy from the rep who I worked with also. read more

BAIT AND SWITCH ALERT I received an email from Sterling McCall Lexus for 20% off services. I went called the service department and set and appointment at on 7/5/19. The service was for a coolant flush and brake fluid flush and was quoted 190.13 for coolant flush and 144.02 for the latter. With 20% discount my price was 267.32. Upon arrival I was greeted by some skinny Asian girl, forgot the name, and kept repeatedly tried to sell me on their 120k service after repeatedly showing her my confirmation email that their service department sent me. Long story short the manager got involved and says that 20% off only applies to repairs and not services. But it clearly states in the email that brake fluid flush and Coolant flush is a service. My pregnant wife brought in our 2016 RX350 for the 5k mile service, which is supposed to include complimentary Lexus Personalized Settings programming. We already had the checklist filled out, but when she handed the list to Service Advisor JEFF HOLMES #421257, she was told that we had to program it ourselves. The list clearly states that some of those options can only be programmed at the DEALER ONLY! I was stranded along the side of the road in my 2019 Lexus and was making arrangements to have my car towed to Sterling McCall Lexus. My wife was speaking to the service manager. It was a Saturday and he was unable to provide us with a loaner car when the tow truck arrived at their business because they would be closed. He would not have someone wait or come back to assist us. Very disappointing service! There were no rental cars, no taxis, no Uber, & no Lyft available at our location. I had to hitch hike back to civilization to get a ride to MD Anderson for my cancer appointment & my wife had to wait on the tow truck alone for 4 1/2 hours alone. I have been waiting over 15 months for a replacement dashboard. My initial appointment for review was 10/20/15. The dashboard wasn't 'recalled' but I was offered a free replacement because it has started melting and cracking and falling off in pieces. I've glued back on what I can but I can no longer piece it back together enough to be presentable. During that visit, they recommended $4500.00 worth of 'repairs' I needed. I did not ask for quotes or a service recommendation. I take all of my business to Clear Choice Lexus now. I call for updates and I am forced to leave a message and wait for someone to call me back. No one ever calls back. I called on 7/12/16 and was told they could not commit to calling me back the same day. They never called and I had to call the 800 number for assistance. The rep from the 800 number was able to call the dealership and get my questions answered. Today, 1/27/17, I called for an update. I was told only Ruth and Laura handle inquiries regarding dashboard replacements. I was told they could not commit to calling me back today but 'usually call within 24 hours.' No, they usually do not. I do not receive calls back until I call the 800 number to file a complaint. I asked to speak with a manager. I was told no manager was available. This is the only company I know that doesn't allow a customer to speak to a manager when one is requested. I called the 800 number, and they were able to get through no problem and get my question answered, which is 'what number am I in line today?' Confusingly, the rep told me I WAS 393 on the list, but they just updated it and NOW I'm 81 out of 1000. I'll believe it when I see it. read more

I had a bad experience at another Lexus dealership the following evening and was not expecting much here. I explained what I wanted and how I was not happy about a sister store. Honestly when you come in to buy a new car you expect a little of enthusiasm on the sales side. I am in the business of sales for luxury goods so I know how special it is for customers. My sales guy was less than enthusiastic to show me a vehicle. The one I called about he didn't know if it was available or not and couldn't find the key. Fine. Well then we went back into his office to see the prices and what other vehicles they had available. He showed me one on the screen, but didn't offer to show me the car until I asked. Again he couldn't find the key to show me the car. So I just ended up walking around the car looking through the window. Yes I have seen the car and have rode in the car, but it would still be nice to actually get into the car at the dealership. In the end, I walked out and don't intend to come back to Sterling McCall for my purchase. The violations Sterling McCall made on my one and only service trip there two years ago are countless. I should have written this then but after having to unsubscribe twice to their e-mail list I never signed up for, and still being on their mailing list, plus two years later still not needing the repair they tried to fleece me for, I thought it was time. Sterling McCall charged me $800 for headlights for my 2007 IS. $800. They oversold me on headlights. I also got my oil changed there. They then proceeded to tell me I needed two new drive axles, to the tune of $1200 each. I decided that was bogus, after seeing what they charged me for new headlights, and took it to another shop. The second opinion said I didn't need new drive axels and they were trying to pull one on me. So awesome to be a single woman sometimes... So that was two years ago and guess what, I still don't need new drive axels. Jerks. read more

This Lexus dealership has really screwed me over on more than one car. First problem was our Lexus GS450H. They "replaced and fixed" the front head lights and brights. It wasn't working the night we drove it away. When we brought the car back to get it fixed, a manager there asked "who fixed your car?" and told us we should "sue them." We laughed and told them it was YOUR dealership we have been going to. We had another car to through a diagnostics and inspection yesterday. And, lo and behold, the car shakes like it's about to fall apart. How is it possible that a luxury vehicle dealership and services provider could provide such terrible, non-thorough, inadequate, hypocritical service? I got into a lease and ended up having me pay full sticker price. Not very honest and transparent if you ask me. However, now that's it's been a year and 4 months later I find out he completely overcharged me on ALL my coverages. I discussed with Meghan in financing department yesterday which is how I found all this out. I've paid for $1100 in repairs that were suppose to be covered by what I already paid for. My car was taken by the technician to the back and the front desk rep walked us to our service rep, Paul. He was helpful in informing us about the current services that will be completed and also asked us about any concerns or questions we had regarding our car. I arrived at the used car lot to look at 6 certified 2020 lexus vehicles. I was assigned to Tony. I provided him a list of vin numbers of cars to look at. I was told after he entered one of the vin's that the car wasn't at this location and was at the Clear Lake location. I told him we had called on the way and they informed me that it was at this location. He entered 4 others and informed me that all of those vehicles were at new car center b/c they were being used as loaner cars and were being prepared to be moved to that lot. I also asked him what the difference was in the 200 and 300 hundred series and he said "well china produces them and they didn't like the number 2 so they put 3 in there." Being that I had never seen a 200 series I had no idea he was being sarcastic most likely b/c I'm a woman and he thought the question was stupid. When I actually did see a 200 clearly I could see the difference. In the meantime he took my car to get a appraisal.He was only gone at the most 5 mintues. Later, we were told that he didn't even have to drive the car around and that an appraisal could be done right there. While he was gone, my boyfriend and I found a vehicle I liked unlocked and looked inside. When Tony arrived I asked if that car was certified and he told us no and he thought someone was driving that car. I asked him why they would have advertised all of these cars if they weren't ready to be shown. He said "I don't know that's how we do it." He never once offered for us to go over and look at the cars. I explained that we had driven a long way not to be able to see these vehciles. My boyfriend told him to call us when the cars were ready to be seen. After driving off I knew this didn't sound right so I pulled into the new car lot. I went in and explained what had happened and asked to speak to someone in management. At this point, Corday Clark was walking by and heard me explaining what had happened. He took us into his office and pulled up 3 of the vin's and informed me in fact they were on the other lot we had just come from. He said in fact one of the cars I wanted to see how just sold. He then took us back over to the lot to help assist us. I showed him the car we had looked inside earlier and he said that was in fact a certified car and it was there on the lot after Tony said it wasn't . Now, at this point I would get it if Tony just overlooked one being there. But, literally 6 cars he said were not were actually there. My boyfriend went in and informed Tony that he had lost a sale and asked him why he would say none of those cars were there. Tony responded "ok" Mr. Clark then went in and asked him why he told us none of these cars were on the lot and elsewhere he told him "I just didn't want to help them!" To say I am shocked is putting it mildly. I sat while waiting to purchase the actual car he said wasn't certified that was thinking "what did we do wrong?" "why would someone act like that?" My grandfather and family has owned a large Chevrolet dealership in the surrounding Houston area. I have never seen a customer be treated like Tony treated us! Had it not be for Mr. Clark swooping in to help us Sterling would have lost a sale. I will be contacting the GM and telling him of how gracious Mr. Clark was. However, Tony is another story. I'm sure Covid has slowed things down for dealers as it has all businesses. If Tony has treated one customer today as he did me I can only imagine how many other sales he has lost for Sterling! So when I came into Sterling, I already was prepared and I knew what I wanted and at what price. To be honest, I walked into Sterling McCall just to look, because in the back of my mind, I was going to run back to Westside Lexus where I purchased my first Lexus. After spending a couple of hours at Sterling, that customer loyalty I had for Westside was forgotten! Don't get me wrong, Westside had amazing customer service, but, I think Sterling has far exceeded what Westside has provided to me in the past. When I walked in I was greeted by Greg Hoogerwerf. He was such a delightful, charming, exceptional, and sincere man to work with. Not like your typical arrogant and rude car salesman that you often approach. Every question that I had he had an answer for, and if he didn't he WILL take his time to find the answer for you! When we got into the car he took his time to educate me on the features of the car to make sure I knew how to utilize all my Lexus functions to the fullest extent. While on the test drive he still educated me and took time to talk to me on a personal level as well to make me feel that I could confide in him. The negotiation process was smooth and easy. We threw some numbers around and we settled for a GREAT price. Yes, better than Westside. I am absolutely in LOVE with my new Lexus and the process wasn't agonizing at all! The wait time in between the paper work process was such a smooth transition, maybe because I spent most of the time enjoying the customer lounging area that you could snack at, have a cup of coffee, enjoy the wifi, and lay back to watch T.V. That was one of the outstanding perks that I liked about Sterling that not most Lexus dealerships have. Finance was also a pleasurable and exceptional. Mr. Jose Barragan took care of me with my finances and was also a delightful man to work with. I got an amazing finance rate with a warranty thrown in. Once I got home, I had a concern about my Lexus that I needed their help on. I e-mailed and called Greg H. the next day. It turns out he was off that day so it would've been hard for him to help me with what I needed in person. I bought my IS350 from this place. I have been using the dealer to service and do the oil change. They have friendly staff and good customer service. I just did a service to replace my alternator pulley. It cost me almost $400. They did the job on time and was really was. They gave me a brand new 2014 IS loaner. The reason why I gave them 3 stars is because their lack of attention of details: First, When I picked up my car. It was dirty. They did not wash the car. I can see several bird craps on my car. Really unacceptable for $400 service. Secondly, the engine oil in my car has been leaking. You could tell it right away by looking at the area underneath the engine. I did not tell them on purpose, to see how good is their inspection. They called their inspection "The world class inspection". Surprisingly they did not see the leak underneath the engine when they replaced the alternator pulley. From those two things, we could tell that they have no attention to details. I think West side do better job. I went there once to replace my bumper. They did excellent job. read more

I have used a non-lexus repair shop for what I thought was a routine strut repair and the car jiggled from noise until I sold it. So, I realized that lexus repairs have to be handled by lexus repair technicians. I got the price for a 60,000 mile service from Sterling McCall and was quoted an "approximate two grand" ($2,000.!!!!). After almost falling over, I called Clear Choice Lexus repair, who employs Lexus certified mechanics, and it was only $800.00. I am going there. The person who answered the phone at Sterling didn't even seem to unerstand the significance of a 60,000 mile service. read more

This vehicle has been in the shop at least 7 times in these two years and half of the time it's been in my garage bc it's not working. They don't take responsibility for anything. I would never in my life wish anyone to go through what I'm still going through. Extended warranty has spent thousands of dollars and truck is on the shop once again! This is a nightmare. Came in today to see if I could get my tire replaced. We had a few people help us, but Josh really stuck out to us. Even though we only came to fix one issue, Josh let us know everything we should know about my cars health and the options I have. He was extremely thorough and answered any questions we had with great detail and kindness. He walked us through every thing and the exact process of how things could proceed, putting much emphasis on it being about consent, which I appreciated a lot. It didn't feel like he was in it for a cash grab like how lots of salesmen seem, it felt like genuine help. Service overall was excellent. We purchased our 2020 Lexus RX 350 on September 9. About 2 weeks later the left turn signal stopped working. It would work again periodically, but it wasn't consistent. The first off day I had I took it in to get serviced. It was a busy day in the service department, no big deal. But after my service agent told me my car was ready, I went inside to wait for him to bring my keys. I saw my vehicle sitting in the service bay waiting to be released. Other cars came & went, & 30 minutes passed. I thought maybe he's super busy. I went to the reception desk to ask about my car. They called my service agent & he told them he had to get the keys from the service department. Another 15 minutes passed before he came. I was told the issue with my car was an electrical switch which they needed to order a part for. I was told they'd call me when it was in. 1 week passes, no call. 2 weeks come around & still no call. So I called them. I was told there was nothing in their system & my service agent was busy, so they took a message saying he'd call back. No call came. I called the next day & I was told the exact same thing. They said he'd call back in 5 minutes. 1 hour passed. I called back. My service agent finally told me that after speaking with the parts department, they never ordered my part. We asked to speak with a manager, whom we voiced our frustration to. It's extremely dangerous to be driving around without a turn signal. Imagine the frustration trying to merge on the highway in traffic or switch lanes in traffic! The manager offered to have someone bring me a loaner vehicle while they fixed my car. He said they would order the prt right away & it would be in in 3 days. They brought me a loner vehicle to Atascosita, where I work & live. Once my car was fixed, they returned it to me... with my gas tank on Empty. When I called about receiving reimbursement for my gas, which was supposed to last for the week, they told me that the customer is responsible for covering that gas? How so? When my car should have been serviced long ago?! This whole ordeal has been a huge inconvenience for my husband and I and we KEEP receiving horrible service. I'm not sure if Sterling McCall Lexus Houston intentionally lies, or if the staff is just under-trained and misinformed. I leased a Lexus GX 460, and the finance office offered to sell me a tire replacement warranty. I specifically queried the finance manager to make sure this was a REPLACEMENT ONLY warranty, like the tire warranty I had on my previous BMW, and not a ``repair or replacement'' warranty. The price for the Lexus warranty was $2099.00, so it would certainly not be worth the money if the warranty was not replacement only (you can get ``repair or replacement'' warranties at most large tire stores, like Discount Tire, and the price is usually no more than $30.00 per tire). Unfortunately, I trusted the word of the finance manager, thinking that this is a high-end dealer and they would not have deceptive sales tactics. Wrong!!! Now Sterling McCall Lexus Houston says that the warranty I purchased is ``repair or replacement.'' Sterling McCall Lexus Houston was unwilling to refund the money for the warranty, so that I could purchase an independent replacement only warranty; the only thing they offered was to refund $600 of the warranty, on the grounds that I've already had the use of the warranty for two years! When I complained that they misrepresented the warranty they offered, they just said well, that's the warranty they had at the time, and they have changed the company they use for the warranties, because they didn't understand what that company was offering! After numerous messages to the general manager I have still gotten no response. I keep getting pawned off on other managers who say they cannot or are unwilling to make this right. This is not the first incident I've had with Sterling McCall, there was another incident at one at their sister stores in Clear Lake. Both dealerships are owned by Group 1 Automotive, and you might think that this is the fault of Group 1, rather than the fault of these two individual dealerships, but Group 1 is also the owner of the very BMW dealership I used previously, which went out of their way to make sure that customer satisfaction was a first priority. So the problem is with Lexus itself. I love my past two Lexus SUVs, but this is sure to be my last one, now that I know how Lexus allows their ``independent dealers" to conduct business. There was no help after multiple calls to Lexus itself---they do not stand behind the brand and make things right for customers who have no success with their ``independent dealers''. read more
