Overall, ok experience. Ok food and ok service. Nothing bad, except the soup, but nothing great either. I had a red curry seafood dish and the salad bar. Boyfriend had a burger. The salad bar was pretty impressive. There was a lot there. The only let down was the soups. None of the soup was good, and I tried all of them. Clam chowder was more like potato chowder. Chili was a joke. Chili soup more than chili. Beef barley had no flavor. The chicken noodle was ok. Fries were good. Get the fries. Best part about this place. Burger was a pretty typical diner burger. Nothing special but it wasn't bad. The seafood red curry was a surprise. I was expecting curry, but there was no sauce. It was red curry powder over the dish. It was pretty decent. Fair flavor. Everything was well cooked. Really liked the shrimp. Overall, this place isn't bad. Big and diverse menu. Large salad bar. The service and food quality has declined dramatically. The Servers do not listen or care about what you've ordered. Had to have them fix my order numerous times. The new manager needs to learn to manage and not be buddies with staff. He doesn't understand quality or protection of his brand poor leadership. I will not eat there again! read more

My husband & I & sister-in-law took mom & dad for my mom's 92nd birthday on Nov 1st, to the Kennewick Sterlings as my mom wanted a good steak so did everyone else. It was terrible, everyone's steaks were WELL DONE, instead of medium well, my mom's filet mignon had to be taken back twice, once for well done & next time for rare. I felt really bad because I chose the place to eat. We will never return there again. read more

I love Sterlings. We eat there quite a bit. I gave three stars. I would be inclined to rate it higher but Fox News is ALWAYS ON!!! My own feelings taken out of the picture, I'm surprised that a place that puts out the family friendly, all inclusive, everyone's welcome, vibe wouldn't keep things neutral on the TVs. I have ordered three times from this restaurant and you would think I would have learned after the first time from ordering. But, things happen and so I gave it another shot, not just once but twice. Now we are here for a third time. All three times my orders were not fulfilled. I had ordered one meal with the baked potato and they didn't bother to include it the second time I ordered or the three creme brûlée I ordered and paid for, along with leaving out the green salad. This time my mom wanted the captains platter which was fine, but there was no tarter or cocktail sauce, just a bunch of fried dough(hush puppies), with a couple of chewy clams and a fried hunk of cod. It was the worst looking dinner I have seen. They forgot her potato, salad, and forgot my soup. The menu stated that the tiger prawns I ordered this time were to be broiled, but they weren't, they were steamed with no butter sauce on the rice at all. We will not bother ordering from this place again. Why have a menu if you aren't going to follow it? read more

It's a diner that has figured out how to charge crazy prices for basic food. We went for dinner, but I'm guessing they're better at breakfast since it's 2 pages of their menu. My husband had the unlimited salad bar. I had the patty melt. He liked the salad bar. My patty melt was horrible. Velveta cheese and an overcooked, cheap grade hamburger. Yuck. In the tip they ask to give a separate tip to your cook and the other to the waitress. So not I only do they have outrageous prices, but they don't pay their cooks well enough that I have to tip them too. Wow. What a s#$t hole. Tri cities has no idea what an upscale diner looks like...so sad that they were actually busy. read more

I have nothing. To complain about at sterlings. It is one of my go to breakfast places. Love their chicken fried steak; the best in town! The gravy is average, but customer service makes up for that. The salad bar is always fresh. One person mentioned Fox News. I don't recall ever seeing any TVs on when I was there. Who goes to a restaurant to watch TV? Kids liked their pancakes and French toast. Dad choked on SF omelette (asparagus + snow crab). It was basically two handfuls over undercooked and some nasty looking asparagus chunks and tiny bits of crab. Somebody was trying to make up volume by tossing raw asparagus clippings in. And the choking was from 2" long woody asparagus things and chewing on woody bits. And more were found after that. Hope food stays down. Server was nice. While lady at register said she would let cooks know but seemed otherwise not really interested (heard it before?). Not genuinely caring. Infamous perhaps, but not sure what it would be famous for. I am torn on this review and rating. The pros Hayden - he was a fantastic server who also happened to be incredibly good looking and I was shameless in telling him so. He was very good natured about it. So for me he made the night. He also was the bartender for our drinks and they were spot on. The baked peartini was fantastic the huckleberry lemon drop was also great those are on the menu so probably very consistent but he also made a pineapple margarita by request that turned out perfect! His talents are wasted here. The other thing to rave about was the cinnamon roll desert it was huge and delicious and I want it everyday of my life! The bacon wrapped filet looked good. The halibut or cod I don't remember which I got was awful it looked like chicken breast the house salad awful. Those dinner items are deserving of one star. The drinks the desert and Hayden were what made this place, also the hostess she was a doll and had a great personality on our way in and our way out. read more

Overpriced. I had a grilled cheese and tomato soup for $8.99 which was nothing special. Toasted white bread with two slices of Kraft singles cheese. Soup was alright. Boyfriend had Eggs Sterling, which is Eggs Benedict with a bland cheese sauce instead of hollandaise for $13.49. Also pretty unexciting. Coffee was meh. Service was great. Looks like they have a nice cocktail selection though. My suggestion for the restaurant would be to have a smaller menu with higher quality ingredients. read more

This place is okay at best. The food was just average and not cooked properly. Our waiter never offered to refill our water or ask if we wanted more drinks. He even dropped off the check with our food. The music was turned up just loud enough make our conversation difficult. All in all if you are in a hurry and don't want fast food this place is acceptable. read more

I prefer to visit local businesses rather than the big nationwide chains, so it is disappointing to state that Sterling's has gone downhill to the point where they are only 1/2 a step above the nearby Denny's when it comes to breakfast. Yes, the servings are quite large and meals can be good, but the food is usually cold by the time you get it, because there is often only 1 server to tend to 10-12 tables. Omelets, toast, pancakes and waffles do not taste good cold. The kitchen is slow, too, took over 25 minutes to get crepes the last time I was there. I never got a refill on my coffee. And I noticed that they now offer only the cheap flavors of jams or jellies. Sad. read more

Very rarely do I come across a place that is in the same playing field as my own cooking, both my husband and I were completely impressed with their breakfast great selection and value for the money, the fruit plate you get as one of your choices have 8 different kinds of fruit, the omelets we had were filled with our favorites I would suggest a better cheddar cheese though and more of it. I selected a blueberry muffin, as on of my choices, and when we asked for a replacement of item in the omelet we were not charged like other places. I often shop other places for food to eat as I love to cook and bake but we all need a break, this is outstanding for breakfast, we had a lunch there, but I think they do breakfast better, next time I am trying dinner, I will let you know. read more

Picked this Kennewick Location for my family on Mothers Day. Regretted it! They were not even full at 5pm. Didn't bring bread till asked. Mixed up two of our orders of Filet Mignon,One of which came so late it was pointless to take it back because the rest of the table was almost done. Brought the wrong pasta to my son, took it back when asked. Brought back what looked like the same bowl 5 minutes later!!! Waitress realized it a couple minutes later and sheepishly came back. Got it right after that! Wanted to talk to the manager but my son didn't want me to make a fuss. Kids spent $140.00 on dinner and still left a 20.00 tip! Wow. That's how I'm going to start this, my coworker suggested we try Sterlings since she and I had never been there. We were seated and given water, however not asked if we wanted any other drinks to start. We Browsed the menu and waited for the waitress, which was about 15 minutes since being seated. She came back and took our four orders, to which I finally asked if she could take our drink orders. We ordered 3 diet cokes and a peach tea. We are a tad annoyed with the service at this point but still hope the food can make up for the lackluster service. The food arrived pretty quick. I ordered scrambled eggs, hashbrowns and toast. My food is pretty basic and hard to screw up, so it was okay. Other orders entailed half rack of ribs and mashed potatoes, steak and eggs and the last was a club sandwich. From what I heard the ribs had little to no meat on the bone and were not really edible. The steak and eggs were again pretty simple and hard to screw up but he had to ask our waitress twice to get a steak knife. The Club was ordered with wheat bread, but when she brought it she said "They put it on white, sorry. I forgot to tell them it was wheat." Terrible customer service. So we ate, and the waitress did ask if we wanted a refill on our diet cokes. I told her No, I was drinking peach tea and she walked away so I had to yell across the restaurant I was drinking peach tea. She nodded and understood, so I thought. She brought me plain unsweetened tea. The menu says peach tea has free refills, but apparently not of the same thing you order. When she brings us the drinks she drops a bill for all 4 tickets, didn't even ask if they were separate checks. We went to the front to have checks separated and they couldn't get that right so we ended up paying for each other's drinks because they were on the wrong checks. My wife and I had lunch recently at Sterlings on Clearwater. They did a fantastic job remodeling the place. Good decor and colors, friendly and attentive wait staff... you can tell they enjoy working at Sterlings. A very extensive list of entrees are available for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Wine list is limited to Barnard Griffin and Bookwalter at nice prices. I never could understand why The Country Gentleman moved away from this end of town. Sterlings is certainly filling the void..... we will be back. read more

Very good service but disappointed that when you order the omelet with crisp bacon, it was not crisp. Why advertise a choice if that's not what is offered. I even asked if it was crisp and assured that it was. Since I had a plane to catch, I scrapped all the filling out to only eat the egg. Waitress was very apologetic, (and that is appreciated), she offered to bring me bacon on the side to eat, sadly only half of the bacon was crisp the other half obviously not crisp. The coffee was so, so, I should have waited to buy one at a drive through coffee spot. Very lukewarm. :( Not sure. If I will return. I wish it could give more stars but the two are at least for good service. read more

This is for the Clearwater Kennewick location. We are long time sterling's customers and have usually been satisfied with our meals and service. Solid 4-star experiences. However, in the last month or two, every aspect seems to be going downhill. The salad bar has not been kept up, lettuce is wilted, items aren't stocked. The salad bar is my favorite but lately it has been sub par so I've ordered from the menu. I usually order the ATA. It's like eggs Benedict with asparagus, tomato and avocado. Normally delicious and highly recommended but the last 2 times the tomatoes have been a sparse sprinkling of diced tomatoes instead of a nice slice and the asparagus has been woody and no where near fresh. The English muffin was inexplicably soaked, saturated as if dipped in grease. Totally inedible. Our table had a dirty coffee mug and a dirty fork. Every dish was chipped. Menus were old, worn and dirty. Coffee was not refilled. Except when the manager walks by and realizes we have chronically empty coffee, then he was on it! He made an effort to make up for our dismal service. We had to ask twice for water. We had one waitress that seemed completely overwhelmed taking care of 2 tables. The other waitress near our section that we tried to flag down was much too busy flirting with a customer and trying to get a date for Saturday night. Surprisingly, the real star of the show for breakfast is the oatmeal. It is fantastic, fresh and delicious. It is served heaped in a soup cup. So you need to ask for a bowl in order to have room to add brown sugar, raisins or milk. The bathrooms have been hit and miss from fairly clean to filthy. We waited a loooooong time for our food and when it finally arrived, mine was not what I ordered. I got crab cakes instead of eggs Benedict ATA. The waitress seemed miffed at me for wanting what I actually ordered. No apology, no offer to take part of the price off...nothing. In summary, our go to place, well we hate to see it go downhill :0(. Hopefully it's just a slump and the one manager who is making an effort will be able to remedy some of the problems. I will update with an improved rating in the future, if possible. read more

Salad bar was amazing. It offered 6 varieties of soup, several salad options besides just salad fixings, and desserts. The staff were very friendly and was able to accommodate my co-worker that had food allergies. The price was less than what I expected. Love to have breakfast here on the weekends. Always get the snow crab cake sterling dish which is like eggs Benedict with a crab cake instead of an English muffin. It is delicious! The eggs are always cooked so delicately and when they break open they coat the crab cake. The cheese (hollandaise like) sauce is delicious too and they always give you enough to smother the hash browns in. Plus you get coffee that's refilled the minute you finish it. Was looking for a decent steak at a reasonable price, and hit the jackpot here. Service was very friendly, fast, and attentive. The special on the weekend was bacon wrapped filet. I had the 7oz filet (rare) with two sides ($18). Wife had filet and lobster ($24). Hands down the juiciest, most tender filet I've ever had! Sides consist of salad, soups (there were at least 4), and various veggies and starches. Casual relaxed atmosphere. We will definitely be back next time we're in the tri-cities. read more
