Steven & Andrea's is everything I want from a breakfast place. It is cozy and feels warm as soon as you walk in. The waitstaff is always very helpful and friendly when I have gone too. As for the food, most of the menu items are not necessarily stand outs for their creativity. They make solid omelettes, eggs and most importantly - some good pancakes! I am not particularly a pancake lover, but these were excellent because they were thin and fluffy all at once! I would recommend the chocolate chip ones especially! The main con of this place is the parking in the area. I have parked in the lot in the back, which I later found out is illegal, but it is always empty and I'm a bit of a rebel. I also wouldn't recommend coming here with a big group. We came with 5 of us, and had a pretty long wait, since the place is pretty small. It's a good brunch date spot to get to know someone, since it isn't too loud and the homey aspect may make you seem family oriented. Good luck lovebirds! read more

It's a cute little spot and the staff is nice however wasn't too pleased with our order. I came here with my family and we ordered chocolate pancakes for my daughter (which were actually pretty good, but really more like a crepe than an actual pancake), cinnamon waffles for my son (bit dry, tasted more like eating sugar powdered cookies), my wife ordered 2 eggs with bacon and hash browns (asked for over medium, they were under cooked and came out over very easy), and I ordered a bacon and mozzarella omelet. Check the picture I am posting, you will see the omelet I ordered had waaaaay too much cheese, the bacon was chewy, and the eggs were so tasteless, I was wondering if they were not fresh and from a carton. So first off their menu on Sundays at 12pm was strictly a breakfast menu. All menus are on the table and it's the typical choices...from omelets, bacon/sausage/taylor ham egg and cheese sandwiches, pancakes, waffles, etc. It's a small spot that looks part deli and just threw chairs and tables inside to make it a restaurant. Staff is friendly but they were a bit slow. I mean you hear one customer scream "can I have the check please" like who does that? Not a good sign of service that's for sure. So down to the food...I had a platter with 2 eggs "over medium" and extra crispy home fries along with extra crispy bacon with whole wheat toast. Can't mess this typical breakfast right? So eggs came out runny and the bacon was not as crispy as I wanted. Home fries were good. Breakfast platters can't get messed up like that so that's why I gave it a 2 for the home fries because I enjoyed it. My daughter had chocolate chip CREPES....oh meant pancakes. She didn't even eat half. My son had cinnamon waffles that weren't Belgium at all. Eggo waffles were a lot better. They tasted like old cinnamon cookies...very disappointed. The OJ was actually nice and fresh and they give a very small amount of fresh fruits before the food comes out. So overall it was ehhh nothing spectacular. Will I come back? It was my first time here and I walked into the small interior and wasn't really sure who was seating customers. Decor is really cute! All tables are set really nicely. feels like a cozy dining room with an intimate vibe. Food was exceptional! I had the turkey, spinach and Swiss omelette. It comes with home fries and choice of toast for around $8. The home fries were definitely the star of the show! Crisp on the outside soft on the inside, melt in your mouth delicious. My favorite place to eat at for breakfast! The prices are great for a good amount of food. Only downside is that the place is small so you will be waiting to get seated, especially on the weekends. For breakfast I always order two eggs over easy, home fries with a side of rye toast platter. It's amazing every time! No matter how full I am I always get either a corn muffin or a blueberry muffin toasted with butter and it's so DELICIOUS! Oh let me say, the pancakes are toooo good. Super thin and tasty! The wait to sit down was nonexistent so that was great, however the waitress was inattentive, the food took a very long time to get to us, and when we finally did get it it was incredibly underwhelming. As well there is not way this restaurant follows guidelines for table distances. I would say max 3 feet between tables at very most. I got a bagel toasted with cream cheese and a toasted blueberry muffin. The bagel tasted stale, was cold and had entirely too much cream cheese. And the muffin was soggy and not even warm. My partner got scrambled eggs with cheese on top and corn beef hash. The most they can say about the corn beef hash was that it was unusual and with too much black pepper and the eggs tasted fake. My fiance and I were looking for a close brunch place to go with his parents before they flew home. Through all of the searches for brunch places I can't believe I never came across this one. Its a nice small restaurant in a mostly residential part of Rutherford. There is plenty of street parking nearby and we found a spot right away. When we arrived there was a bit of a wait, but within 10 minutes a bunch of tables were leaving. I had read all about how amazing the pancakes were from fellow yelpers reviews and debated about ordering some. My fiance's mom ended up ordering the blueberry and banana pancakes and loved them. They were so thin compared to other pancakes and smelled amazing. My fiance and I ordered omelets and I can't remember what his dad ordered. I asked for my home fries and onions in my omelet well done but they definitely weren't. Everything tasted amazing though, even the small fruit cup they give you while you wait to order. The service was a bit confusing and slow. We weren't exactly sure who our waiter/ess was because it seemed like everyone did everything. In between placing our order and bringing our meal nobody really checked on us or refilled our waters. Once our food came we were trying to get someones attention to get some hot sauce or jelly but nobody ever came so we got it ourselves. I was visiting my wife's departed relatives in North Arlington on the chilly Saturday after Thanksgiving. It was past noon and my surviving in-laws were hungry. Being an elite Yelper, I was tasked with finding them the perfect place to eat. Only a mile away, was Steve & Andrea's Restaurant with 4 stars and lots of reviews. We arrived and I pulled into their lot to find two available spaces. We walked around front to find a packed house. The dining room was small and busy. Servers kept coffee cups and water glasses full. My sister in-law stepped inside and scored a table for 4. Our luck was running good but would it last through the meal? We ordered some drinks, sandwiches and some French fries to share. Fries and drinks came out quickly but it was a while before we saw sandwiches so we devoured the tasty fries. The sandwiches were all very fresh tasting and we enjoyed them. Service was on point. This is not a fast food place and I would not eat here if I was in a rush. To start I'd like to say that the food was very good here, I had the "Denver" omelette which was just a fancy name for a western. The homefries were also good. Now for the bad, the service was pretty bad, most of us went with empty glasses for extended periods of time, and whenever we asked for anything we got the feeling that we were bothering the servers. The parking situation wasn't the best and I was greeted with a filthy tablecloth, see the picture. Also, I saw one of the workers moving around bread and preparing egg/chicken salad with no gloves, it was kind of disgusting. When I tell you the pancakes are everything, I mean EVERYTHING. They are the perfect pancake- these are like a big fluffy American pancake had a baby with a sexy French crepe. My husband I never finish a stack of pancakes, but today we did- and if our stomachs could have handled it, we probably would have ordered another stack... however, we ordered sides (which were equally delicious) instead. Typically the service is awesome and the food is oh so good!! Usually there is a wait for the weekends which I don't mind because they are that good, but today was not the case so there is no excuse for the delay with food and service! First we asked for brown sugar and they brought a small amount in a to go sauce cup for just 1 person so we asked more and they young guy brought the container...I said ok thanks not sure if he didn't want to be bothered with coming back or just wanted to make sure we had had enough. Took over 15 minutes to be asked what we wanted to eat...people who came in after us are eating before we did and the worst part was that the food took 40 minutes to come out and no one came to check on us. Everyone who came in after us ate and left and we were still waiting for food. I had the most simple order and had to send the eggs back. The cakes were very crepe-like and had chocolate chips scattered throughout and melted...looking like a decadent pile of goodness. The omelet was with egg whites and tomato, but the star here were the home fries. They had a seasoning on them which was hard to discern...but had tones of onion, garlic, paprika, and black pepper. So to stand out you need to nail each item and that's exactly why S&A's stands apart from that trendy place down the road from here (which always has a line out of the door but so disappointing). The home fries aren't that typical batch of raw bland potatoes with just the one side that's crispy and cooked... these are banging and well-seasoned. The pancakes are crepe-style and delicious. Your coffee cup is constantly being refilled. That complimentary fruit cup is a nice touch to wake your mouth up. The wife is mighty demanding when it comes to omelets and she approves of how S&A's make theirs. The staff are all cool. And it's always easier to get a table here than that other place on the other side of town. This restaurant definitely has the vibe of a "I came here when I was a little kid" feeling. Probably one of the better breakfast places I've tried in North Jersey. I got the Taylor, Egg, and Cheese sandwich: pretty bangin'. Very good balance of flavors all around, and I just love how each time I knife into my sandwich, the yolk from the egg just oozes out. This ooze definitely tells you whether the overall sandwich will be good or not! Of course after reading Yelp reviews prior to coming here, I HAD to get the chocolate chip pancakes. One of the best places to get pancakes in the north jersey area! They have their signature pancakes which are thin but soft at the same time, must try it. I usually get banana or blueberry pancakes. They're not like IHOP or a regular diner so they won't have huge portions. Normal portions here so order slightly more items, I usually get the pancakes and 1 egg platter which comes with home fries and toast. Great Sunday morning spot. THE HOMEFRIES so good here, not burnt at all but fluffy instead. No TVs in here though, would be nice to be able to catch some sports highlights at the same time. read more

Surprised I haven't reviewed this place yet. I'm seriously obsessed with their crepe-like pancakes. I try to make them at home, but I can never get them to taste this good. So light, thin, crispy, and sweet. I can't get enough! I could never come here without ordering them. Knocking off one little star just because the place is a little cramped and uncomfortable. The chicken was pounded so thing that it got incredibly tough when they cooked it. The sauce was mediocre and super bummed out and still starving. Good place for breakfast and lunch. Haven't done dinner yet. But never disappointed with whatever I get. My main love for S&As is their catering. I've used them many times for large family parties at the house. Their prices are so good, as well as the food, it's stupid to cook yourself. For $12 to $14 per person you can't go wrong. They come and set everything up and pick it up the next day. Love the chicken marsalla, stuffed shells supreme, potato and macaroni salads. All is good. And never a complaint by my guests.
