I was really excited to try this place with my cousin for a weekend brunch. My cousin ordered the Mexican omelette and I ordered the banana pancakes and homefries to share. Our food took FOREVER to come, but I guess that made sense considering how many people they had to serve, but it seemed like people who got there after us were getting served before us. In terms of the food, the banana pancakes were great but pretty average and the homefries were delicious but a little too oily. Overall, it was a nice restaurant, but I think the place is a bit overhyped, but I would definitely come back here if the wait isn't too long! read more

First time visiting this place. We ordered the cheese steak and fries and meatball parm hero. We waited for like 20 minutes for our food. While we were waiting for our food the one waiter brought us a little plate with about 10 fries on it. When another guy brought our food to us he brought us some potato chips and said they ran out of fries. I understand you run out of food but you have the audacity to charge us $3.50 for fries when we only got 10 on a plate. Will never go here again. Sweet brunch spot. It's a semi space with lots of tables with not much breathing room because it gets packed. Make reservations if you don't want to wait for maybe 10-15 min outside. Plenty of street parking. Friendly staff, they are pretty quick. Coffee was good, veggie omelette was kind of blah but my hubby loved his western omelette with a side of turkey sausage. Just went there for breakfast with my daughter and son-in-law because, there was a table for 6 available and they REFUSED to seat us because we were only 4, even thou there was Nobody waiting for a bigger table!!!!! This has been my favorite place to eat breakfast since I was a little kid. My mom and I loved getting breakfast from here especially the pancakes. You can't find any pancakes like it. We got married a Thursday morning - so when I say: "I am a breakfast person...", I mean it! LOL The place is an open concept with the kitchen included. It was packed. They have parking in the back and in the street. Still, we went Sunday at 1pm and were able to squeeze in a bar table. The menu is sweet and short. We ordered strawberry-banana pancakes. They were just ok. Kind of gooey. Maybe the regular ones are better. We also ordered a Mexican omelet and a breakfast burrito. I really liked the omelet. The breakfast potatoes were a mess hehehe and just kind of "dumped" on top of the food (see pic). Didn't look pretty. Service was good. Anyone could help you sort of thing. They do have fresh squeezed orange juice that was very good. Coffee was good too. In general, we give it a 3 because the presentation and taste of food did not impress us. We left smelling like food. Which is a big down for us. It needs better ventilation. Not sure we'll go back, but it's an option to further consider. read more

August 13th 2018 was my first time trying this place. I got Egg White Venetian and asked for Broc Rabe instead of Arugala. And a Chicken Salab sandwich with Avocado. Everything was tasty and well made except the Broc Rabe that wasn't there nevertheless the food was good but the Magical Blue Berry Muffins they have I shall take a pic so the one I had yesterday were almost like jelly filled blue berry muffin.!! This is my favorite brunch place! My husband and I are new to Rutherford, we now come at least twice a month for weekend brunch. The pancakes are light, the eggs are always done amazing, and my husband loves the French toast and the home fries. Not only is the food amazing, the atmosphere feels like you're in their living room. The staff is amazing. You can't go wrong at Steve and Andrea's. Although you may have to wait for a table on early Sunday mornings and they seat people in the order they show up not the size of the party and the table available, but it's worth it. First the price is right, they are fast and courteous, the food was great! I had the Mexican Omelette and my boyfriend had the Breakfast Burrito. I added extra jalapenos and we ordered a short stack of pancakes. Those pancakes were amazing I could've had a whole plate. I don't like the huge overly fluffy dry pancakes these were a bit thinner but big and delicious not dry at all. While we try to support local businesses, this establishment is very selective on clients. Food is okay but they give unfavorable service to minorities especially Asians- tried many times thinking it's just a fluke giving more than 20% tips each time. But service never improved. Subtle racist atmosphere! Will let you wait time and again while serving others who came later simply because they're white. read more

Against my better judgment i I tried Stephen Andrea's for the last time. I ordereda patty melt side of potato salad and a can of coke. 17.30 for a frozen hockey puck and a whisper of cheese. The server asked me how I wanted it. When I saw the cook pull the grey frozen patty out of the freezer i knew it would be terrible. And it was. We were staying at the Renaissance Marriott Hotel and wanted a hearty breakfast before hitting the Turtleback Zoo. Steve and Andrea's​ did not disappoint! Call ahead as this place fills up pretty quick. With that said, people are in and out really fast too. The service is on point. They move quick. Street parking in front of the restaurant is metered, however we parked on a side street for free. Don't stress, it's worth it. I got the ham and swiss omlett with mushrooms. It was huge! Not super flavorful but the home fries that come with it made up for it. Hubby got the Bacon and mozzarella omlett. We split the blueberry pancakes and those were AMAZING! They are thinner and more like crepes than pancakes. Melt in your mouth delicious! Good food, great portions and cheap. Would totally go back. read more

Great pancakes as the other reviews promised, but everything else fell a bit flat. I generally find pancakes too heavy but ordered chocolate chip pancakes based on the reviews here. Delish. The reviews were right - almost crepe-like in texture and quite good. Boyfriend got blueberry ones though, and they were a touch overcooked. His eggs were cooked right, but mine were slightly overdone. Coffee was kind of weak. Service was somewhat dodgy. Nice, but we had to twice ask for water (after waiting around 10 mins) and it was a bit too relaxed overall. The restroom was locked too, although it was unoccupied. I ordered breakfast takeout from Steve & Andrea's the other day since there are hardly any breakfast places that deliver by me, one of the places is in Newark like 30 min away... I ordered egg whites with home fries, french toast, a Venetian Omelette with home fries, and a side of turkey sausage since they don't have turkey bacon. The staff were really friendly, the food was ready when I arrived for pickup, and they got my order right! I may have had too high of expectations because I read so many reviews about their home fries being the best ever, and their french toast being amazing. I really wasn't blown away by either. I also felt that the ingredients in the Venetian Omelette were right (Spinach, Baby Arugula, Tomato, Fresh Basil & Fresh Mozzarella Cheese), but that it came off a little bland somehow, like the basil wasn't basilly enough...? You know what I mean?..they were there, but I couldn't really taste them. Maybe my taste buds died from the excessive partying I'd been doing, so it could be my bad. I found this place on Yelp, and had reasonable expectations based on the 4/5 star rating it had at the time with 16 reviews. I went here for breakfast this past Sunday, and wound up deeply regretting my decision to eat here. The place is very clean, and I believe it was Andrea who took my order - she was friendly and polite. I ordered a short stack of blueberry pancakes, a veggie omelet, and coffee. I started with the veggie omelet, which surprisingly was practically tasteless. I tried, but could hardly taste the eggs, or the vegetables. Several bites later, there was no improvement, so I set it to the side. This was really odd, as omelets usually are a staple at diners. The crepe-like pancakes were unique, but tasted just ok. Coffee was eh. I finished the pancakes because I was hungry, and gave my tasteless omelet one more try, then, confused as to why this place got 4/5 stars, left most of the omelet unfinished on my plate, paid my bill and left. I then realized what ruined my experience here - the non-stick junk the young cooks used on the grill. They used so much of it while preparing my omelet, that during my first few bites, this chemical crap literally coated my entire tongue and the roof of my mouth, and wound up staying there for most of the day. About an hour later I stopped in at a coffee drink chain and used a paper towel to wipe off my tongue and roof of my mouth, and ordered a large coffee to sip on in a vain attempt to dissolve this chemical coating off of my tongue. I'm not trying to be dramatic, I have no idea what this junk was that had coated the entire inside of my mouth. There are two cooks at this place, both appear very young and inexperienced, which may explain things. A seasoned diner cook who takes pride in his diner and the food he serves would never have used that much non-stick junk on the grill, or served food slathered in it. I hate routine. Yet I come here nearly every Sunday for their special Brunch menu. I hate to repeatedly order the same dish. Yet I consistently ask for the mushroom & Swiss omelet AND a short stack of those unbelievably yummy crepe-style pancakes. I hate home fries that aren't crispy. Yet whatever they do to the home fries at Steve & Andrea's make up for the lack of crisp. I second a fellow yelpers review that these home fries are "out of this world!" This place is a small little restaurant that is perfect for a nice breakfast or lunch. It's a local mom and pop restaurant that is cozy inside. The food is great. My boyfriend had the meatball parm panini which came with fries and I had an egg white omelet with spinach, feta, and tomatoes. It came with some potatoes and toast. Both our meals were really good. The place is clean but sometimes it can get pretty packed in here too. It was also reasonably priced as well. Very nice place and I love local mom and pop places like this. Will be back! read more

I want to like this place, but just cannot. The crepe-like pancakes that everyone raves about to me were just decent. Please don't read this and run, however, as this could be attributed to myself preferring a pancake over a crepe. If you love crepes. this still may be the place for you, or at the very least worth trying. The omelets are made very fresh. I recommend getting the veggie omelet as it is loaded with flavor. The best part of the place is the home fries in my opinion. They are unlike any home fries I have had at many other breakfast places. The have the right amount of seasoning and are cooked perfectly. I'm not even a huge potato head (no pun intended), but the home fries here are the BEST I have had. So with these positives, why the 2-star rating? First and foremost, I've had days where home fries had run out. Secondly, the prices here are extremely inflated. The salad is very good but I remember it running us around $6 for a small plate. The breakfasts are not cheap either for the amount of food you get. I can spend $15 at the end of the morning here and may still feel hungry. I know I can have a large appetite at times, but truth be told, you don't get much "bang for your buck" here. It really is disappointing. If I am going to spend that kind of money on breakfast I would make sure it would be my number-one choice, and not a place that simply is "slightly above average" or "okay." read more

I have been going to S&A since about 1996 and I've always gotten great service and EXCELLENT food. Their homefries are out of this world! It is a secret recipe that steve won't give up - no matter how many times i ask him!! It is a small place so you may have to wait a little bit but the service is friendly and quick. I would suggest the Chicken Salad Panini! On Sundays, they only serve breakfast so then i would suggest the pancakes with a side of homefries. They used to be open for dinner but unfortunately they stopped dinner service. However, they do open up for special occasions and their dinner is just as good as their lunch/breakfast. read more
