This spot is really solid! I'm only sad I didn't try it sooner because I really enjoyed my meal! I ordered the California burger with fries and ranch. The burger and all toppings were very fresh and everything just tasted wonderful! The avocado was perfectly ripe and complimented the crispy bacon on the burger perfectly! Let it be known that I have been eating Steve's my whole life. I live about, 2 minutes from there, so naturally I used go there after school for a burger or hit up their greasy breakfast combos in the early mornings on my way to work. Now, I have noticed in the past, oh say, 5 years, Steve's has majorly gone downhill. The staff is lazy, unprofessional, rude, forgetful, and sometimes creepy. They almost always mess up my order, and never offer an apology. The food--well, it's gotten stale. Stale bun on my sad burger. Old-tasting pancakes caked with grease. An inedible, rubbery chicken sandwich drowned with some kind of rancid sauce. Old, cold, stale fries...yet somehow when they are hot, they taste stale too--and salt-less. I just hate it here now--I might get their chicken strips when I am desperate. But those aren't even hand-breaded, they're frozen and then flash-fried. So what am I really paying for here? As a Torrance native, I've been coming to Steve's since childhood and to this day it's the only place that can hit the spot when I'm craving a good burger and fries. Steve's steak fries are some of the best I've ever had, and their chili fries are definitely the best I've ever had. My mom and sister swear by the steak sandwich and I personally love the zucchini sticks. There nothing fancy about Steve's. You order at the counter, pick up your food at the counter, and sit in booths that overlook Anza and Del Amo Blvd. You don't go here for the ambiance; you go here for good, greasy, fried and VERY satisfying food! Steve's is actually one of my family's favorite places for a cheap and quick breakfast, as well. If you're in the South Bay and craving some diner food, stop by Steve's. It's weird how there's so many different burger places. Burger places are a dime a dozen, and possibly, in that dozen, there's a special one that stands out. This isn't it, imho. This Steve's in particular used to be really good. Back in the day (late 90s early 2000) they used to really hook it up with the food. Pastrami sandwiches would be packed with meat (as an example). Went there again today for "old times sake" seeing as how I grew up here, and ordered the pastrami combo like I would normally. I must say, I was highly disappointed. Hardly any meat in the sandwich and just a small bag of fries to boot. The combo itself was over 10 bucks! A ripoff considering what I got. To have spent that much money, I would def have rather gone to a nicer sit down restaurant and either paid the same amount or a few bucks more for a better meal. Well, I hope you check your order in the drive through even after you ask them if everything is in the bag. I come here often and now I am disappointed enough to do a review. Bought food and bought extra ranch. We got fried zucchini and basically requires ranch. Go through the drive through and asked specifically if the ranches were put in there. The woman said yes and sealed up my bag. Drive home and nope. Not there. Called and voiced my frustration but I'm not driving 15 min each way so I'm out my money and a good meal. This place is swarming with students every weekday around 3pm. There's a high school and junior high right next door. I remember our junior high teachers would bring us here for lunch as a "reward". In my opinion, the food has been consistently delicious the entire time. I trademarked my own Gyro when I was a kid adding only cheddar cheese. Cures a hang over in about 16 minutes. If its a super bad hang over, I'll go ahead and throw in Steve's chili cheese fries (the best chili cheese fries west of the Mississippi.) They grate their own cheese! Bomb! The burgers are textbook. Grilled over an open flame with toasted buns and diced onions. But the real money-maker are the onion rings! A symphony of flavor! Check'm out. It's what an American Diner should be. read more

Steve's has been a favorite of mine for almost 14 years now. Many things about the place have changed in that time but I am amazed by the consistency of their quality. This place sparked my love of charbroiled burgers and I suspect that it's a love that will never die. I've gone on to try many charbroiled joints since and sure, I've found many that beat this place in terms of variety, price or quality but I don't think there is a single place that will ever occupy the same spot in my heart. Just last night, Steve's came through for me with a big show of customer service: I ordered a patty melt combo (my go-to) and for kicks I added in avocado. The food came pretty fast. The fries were still glistening from the fryer and the burger was so packed with cheesy-goodness that it wasn't until halfway through the burger that I realized, there wasn't a bit of avocado in it! Seeing as how I payed almost 20% extra for it, I couldn't let it go. Rather than give me a stink about it (as I would expect most burger places to do) they gladly obliged me by adding avocado to the remaining half and even offered me a free second burger. I opted for a second order of fries instead and they responded by adding the second order with a couple onion rings thrown in. My faith in Steve's was challenged but ultimately augmented by their attention to customer satisfaction. In short, Steve's is one of the best all-around charbroiled burger joints you can find. Definitely give their burgers and fries a go. Their cheeseburger is good enough for a taste of what they have to offer but if you're in it to win it, go for the Pastrami Cheeseburger combo and you'll be glad you came! ;) read more

Steve's is a hometown staple. Growing up in Torrance, Steve's is the place you go to after middle school and high school or even in the middle of the day if your teachers would take you. I've had many experiences at Steve's and would say their food is pretty bomb. If you could stomach a big meal, I'd get a double cheeseburger and chili cheese fries. These are two classics here and you can't go wrong. The double cheeseburger is great b/c it has shredded lettuce with their own sauce and the meat and cheese and bun and just everything works together so well. It's really a simple burger but it's done so well. As for the chili cheese fries, they're probably some of the best chili cheese fries I've had. I say that because it's a meaty chili as opposed to beans, which I don't really care for. They put a respectable amount of cheese on it and if you get it with diced onions on top, it's even better. However, I understand that is personal preference so to each their own. As for other things I've tried...the zucchini fries are good...it's basically breaded and fried zucchini sticks. Add some ranch to it and you're golden. I know several people who are fans of their chicken sandwich. It's a pretty simple sandwich with nothing crazy on it, but sometimes that's all you need. In the past, I've also heard good things about the breakfast burritos, but I have also heard that it's not the same as it used to be, so I haven't tried it since although I would be open to it. Either way, Steve's is a staple so go. read more

Occasional burrito, and breakfast when hung over. Service is sporatic - do they not employ enough people? or are these people hiding from customers as a game?!?!?!?? My kids like this place too - probably cuz their babysitter would bring them here as a treat. Overall a pretty average place to eat - nothing to rave about - but decent food at an ok price.
